Fish and shrimp
Kay T.

I was turned on to this place by my child father.I was a little hesitant at first because of the location but to my surprise the food was very good and cheap. The fish was crunchy and soooo moist inside. The shrimp are average size but very well season. None of the food is too salty even the fries are good and they add seasoning to it. The crab eggrolls are soooo delicious.I encourage everyone to try these. You get four and guarantee you would want four more. The shrimp fried rice is different from others because you get bigger shrimp and you order by size and each size have certain number of shrimp in it. Overall This place is great but you have to take it to go there's no seating there

Great fried rice with sautéed shrimp... I have not tried anything else but everyone else says everything is good. Always crowded.

I went to Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails on a Saturday morning for brunch with my wife and our…read moretoddler. Millie's is a popular neighborhood seafood restaurant in Houston's Oak Forest area, known for Southern and coastal-inspired dishes, craft cocktails, and being genuinely family-friendly. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including patios and a dedicated play area for kids, which already sets them apart. They have private parking spots out front and a large outdoor patio facing the street. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away. They brought out a high-chair for our son immediately. Inside, the restaurant was busy, but it was a colder morning so the front patio wasn't being used much. They also have a separate backyard patio with a turfed, enclosed area where kids can safely play, which is a huge plus for families. We ordered from the brunch menu. [BRUNCH] +Lobster Roll for $38 - Maine lobster poached in butter, served in a brioche-style lobster bun with fries. My wife ordered this with fries, and I ordered the same dish with a Caesar salad. This lobster roll was excellent. They served the lobster folded into thick Texas toast and brought extra butter on the side. Easily one of the best lobster rolls I've had. It's definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it as an occasional splurge. The fries and salad were good, but the lobster roll completely stole the show. - 5/5 [KID'S MENU] +Basket of Fried Shrimp for $7 - Served with fries or fruit. My son didn't eat much of the shrimp, but I thought it was solid. He ate all the fruit. He had already eaten at home, so hunger may have been a factor. For the price, this was perfectly fine. - 4/5 Overall, Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails really impressed me. The lobster roll alone is worth returning for, and now that I've seen how seafood-forward the menu is, I'm excited to try more dishes on future visits. Add in the family-friendly setup, outdoor play space, and smooth service, and this is a place I'll gladly come back to for brunch (and more)!

Cool ranch chips with roasted vegetable queso - 10 out of 10, the chips were delicious and the queso was good too. Shrimp cocktail was basic but good Wedge salad with shrimp, delicious and good dressing. Seared branzino was flaky and delicious, but will try grilled next time. The mashed potatoes were good and most of the vegetables. We got the creme brûlée but wasn't a big fan , the custard was a bit thick and not smooth. I would opt for something else next time. Will definitely go back to try more things as well. I think only 2 ppl were working but service was still good and we felt bad that every thing was on them.

The add ons of the various butters and toppings are just the icing on the cake (biscuit?). The restaurant also just has a great vibe and the service was friendly and helpful. We also were always able to ask for recs and got some good ones, especially regarding happy hour prices and items. The shrimp, oysters, fried chicken, mac and cheese and drinks were amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and complemented each other. And to top it all off, the lemon bread pudding was an absolute delight! I definitely want to go back to try all the things I did not have room to try this time!

Sadly we were supposed to get our biscuits to go and they were forgotten. We got charbroiled oysters which were delicious. There's a parking lot but I hear the restaurant gets packed on the weekends.

Almost like "dirty crawfish". After 1 bite I didn't finish them. The sauce was very good. I gave it 3 stars because I went in with 3 other people and what they had was tasty. I'm going to try other items- when we return. Maybe they are still working the bugs out. Went today again and tried the Phillycheese steak loaded and Egg-rolls ... absolutely fabulous!!

The staff does not fully understand what the menu items come with and thinks that everything is the boil sauce. I order the garlic noodle box with extra garlic sauce. When my food came out it was covered in the ohh la la boil sauce. When I explained that the sauce that usually is with it is clear not red, she said this is what they use. I said it doesn't look like the photo on the board, her response was bc I asked for extra. I said extra does not mean change the type. She then just looked at me. I asked for a remake so it's like the photo. It seems that they rinsed off the noodles bc they were cold and thru the smoked sausage that I bit off and egg that I bit and placed it on top and smothered more red sauce on it! This is the last time, and I will not be bringing my family and friends or suggesting this place to anyone.

The crawfish are huge right now. I ordered the mix flavor, and it was incredibly flavorful, with a generous amount of garlic butter. The fries for $5 were also really good. It's Nextdoor to the new "Long Weekend" bar in the heights so now the parking lot is packed, but this restaurant hast ever been packed out when I've come. For starters, go for the reel fries. It's worth the calories and at this point, why are you here worried about that? For being another and covered, they don't taste overly greasy. If you're against fries, go for the boudin balls or elote ribs. 10/10 starter. For me, it's crawfish season and that's why I'm here. There's the standard flavors you'd expect but you're able to add in a tom yum flavor or Thai basil... I recommend the Thai basil, but my bestie loves tom yum. Neither are wrong but I'm always right. I can't speak on their other items because I've only been eating crawfish, but I would safely assume you're in good hands here. The vibe inside gives seafood sports bar, with big screen TV's and some college basketball banners and random football helmets as decor. If you're looking for good seafood (crawfish specifically), it's definitely a great place parking stinks now but the spot is clean, lovely and never too packed.
