I have been going to this nail place for 2 years, every two weeks. All the staff are really nice. They have made a lot of upgrades on decor and work stations - it's really clear they care about their customers' experience. They immediately implemented Covid precautions - and continue to maintain them to make customers feel safe. I was initially nervous about coming here due to the reviews online but one of my friends is a regular here and loves it! I decided to give it a try and found it to be great. There was a wide color selection and I was served promptly. A regular pedicure was 25$ and the gel manicure was 30$. I had no complaints about the service. I have to agree that K&D is the best nail salon in the area. The owner, Kelly is the sweetest. I've never felt pressured here and they have a variety of options. I've literally spent a few hours here for manicure and pedicure with hot stones for under $100 and have also been on a crunch and have been in and out with a manicure/polish change for under $10. Kelly has been waxing my eyebrows for the last 3 years (at least) and I can't imagine going anywhere else! read more

K&D does a great job. Many colors to choose from in normal polish & gel. My regualr manicures/pedicures last fairly long. Besides the majority of things that are positive, there are two things that bother me: 1). They do not give massages during a standard pedicure! I've been to a lot of salons before, and this is the first one that does not thoroughly massage the feet and lower legs. It is what I look forward to most during a pedicure and it was a big dissapointment. I haven't had the chance to look through their menu to see if they do offer a foot massage, but it should definitely be included in the standard pedicure- no question. 2). They upsell like crazy to the point that it gets annoying. If I want a standard pedicure, they try to convince me to pay an additional $5-$10 for the tropical version and get my calluses removed (even if they are not even bad). They'll ask me a bunch of times if I want a gel manicure when I ask for a standard maicure. One time, they even tried to convice me that I needed my eyebrows waxed, a day after I got them threaded at a different place! I know they want to make additional $$$, but they upsell like crazy to the point that it annoys me. read more

I used to love this nail salon! The staff is wonderful and attentive. There is one manicurist there that, every time without fail, messed up my nails or eyebrows. I have gotten a manicure from her 3 times, giving her the benefit of the doubt. But every time she majorly messes up my nails! The first time i got a gel manicure and it chipped within 2 days, and she had cut me pretty bad. The other two times same thing, cut bad and he gel manicure didn't last long (plus the nails were different lengths). This last time i visited she did my eyebrows and totally botched it. One eyebrow is now wiggly and has a bald patch at the front. Not pleased! I don't know her name but i do know that she is the only one there with curly hair and glasses. The worst nail salon in Ellicott City. I don't even know why I gave them a second chance. Last night I went in for a french manicure, with powder dip. I had never had it before and when the tech was finished the tips were white but the base was pink. Not a light pink but PINK. I was horrified! I said, why are they pink? She said well for Summer that's what we do because of tanning and sunscreen. I reminded her that IT IS NOW FALL. I have never heard of anyone getting pink as a base for a french. She said, well it's too late now! I was livid. The fact that I actually paid for this is weighing on me. My only recourse is to "give it a week and come back so she can redo it". I shouldn't have tipped her but I actually have class and know that it was a lot of work that she did. She apologized to me profusely. My nails look horrible as well, the tips are thick and they just look flat out fake. I'm going to stick with this for the 3 weeks and NEVER EVER go to this establishment again. Went here for a quick pedi after venturing out too late to get a pedicure one Saturday night. I happened upon this salon and after reading the scant reviews, decided to give it a shot because it was one of those times I was desperate for some foot action. I got here around 7:10 and saw that they were closing at 7:30....I decided to take a stab for it and ask if I can have a very quick pedicure!!! I was the only one there and it wasn't too hopeful but they said yes I could!!! I had a quite nice and relaxing experience during my pedi (mostly because I was alone!) The two girls who were there were great and very attentive to my needs. I got a basic pedi but added the heel treatment for $5 extra. It didn't seem like much or do much really which is why I am not giving a full 5 stars. I also would have appreciated a longer massage on my feet and legs.....this is what I look forward to most in pedicures and being pregnant, I NEED it!! All in all, a good basic pedicure with an attentive staff ( at least for me because I was the only one there!!) Just need a more intensive foot and leg massage to complete the experience!!! One more thing...they don't let you tip on cards!! I Know this is the case for lots of places but for places I usually go for pedis, they always let me tip. :( That caused some inconvenience! read more

It's been 3 years since I reviewed this place, and my rating STILL remains the same. I went to K&D due to a last minute decision to get my nails and toes done the day I was leaving on a trip, and my usual place didn't have an opening. The tech had such an attitude when I asked for a gel pedicure (I know people don't always do that but regardless). When that was complete, I had gotten a fill and gel polish on top. She kept flicking my hand to put it next to the fan when I didn't do it immediately. I've had issues with this place making extremely rude comments on my sweaty hands and shocking (not), still no different three years later. Then, she proceeded to ask me if I wanted my eyebrows done. I understand this is typical and don't have a problem with people promoting their business. However, if I decline, please do not ask again. The nail tech proceeded to ask me five more times after that. With every time I declined, she seemed to get more and more irritated. However, what really put me over the edge was that after the 5th time she asked, she looked at me and said "no honey, you NEED them done" with this rude and disapproving look on her face. I walked right out with no tip, and have never been so appalled by a business before. You should NEVER say something like that to a customer. I decided to give this place a try because it is close to where I live and the nail place I usually go to is super busy on Saturdays. The service I received was terrible: -I waited for about 25 minutes in a pedicure chair with my feet in water before my pedicure actually began; when I asked one of the nail technicians how much longer the wait would be, she rolled her eyes at me. -The technician who actually did my pedicure was extremely rude; I understand she was trying to make conversation, but she asked pretty personal questions, and when I politely told her that I what she was asking me was a sensitive topic for me and I preferred to talk about something else, she rolled her eyes at me and kept asking me; she also was quite soft spoken and had a thick accent, and when I politely asked her to repeat herself when she was talking to me, she again, rolled her eyes at me. -There was another customer who had an appointment, and had also been waiting at least 20 minutes for her pedicure to start, and when she asked a nail technician when her appointment would begin, the technician who was doing my pedicure rolled her eyes at her and at me. -My sister was getting a dip nail manicure, and she mentioned to me that the nail technician who was doing her manicure was rude as well; she kept asking my sister personal questions and making rude comments about her height (she is very petite). I also noticed that the nail technician was quite rough with my sister; she kept grabbing and jerking my sister's arm to move it. The technician was also very pushy with my sister, trying to get my sister to get more things done and not accepting "no" for an answer. Aside from the beyond unacceptable and terrible service my sister and I received, this place is extremely over priced. They charge an extra $5 for OPI Infinite Shine polish and the sign is not in a place that is clearly visible. This is BS. Needless to say, I will never go back to this place and I will discourage my friends and anyone I know from coming here. I will continue to go back to my usual nail place; I will suffer their busy schedule, because their customer service is infinitely better, their prices are more reasonable, and they do a better job overall. read more

I would not recommend this place! What was planned out to be a fun afternoon with my nine year old daughter and her friend turned out to be a HORRIBLE experience. The staff spoke amongst themselves throughout our session in a foreign language, laughing and obviously making remarks about us. Even when I asked them to speak in English and that what they were doing was impolite, they continued. While they were supposed to be attending to us, they were approached by another staff that came to show some scarves. The attendants then took time to make their choices. They just carried on and on like the customer(s) did not matter. The manicurist attending to my daughter had no patience with her, continually rebuking her for moving. This place is awful. I've never had a good experience here and finally threw in the towel in trying. They are very rude and if your toes are in bad shape they will blandlty talk about you, in front of you in their language. If you ask for a basic pedi be prepared for one rough leg massage. I hated my experience here and I will not be going back. I work close by and was looking for a good place to relax after work to let traffic die down but this is not the place. I came in for a pedicure and fill in. I went right to pedicure section and sat in chair. A lady greeted me and then says something to her friend. She then looks at me and asks "do you ever eat?" Because I'm skinny. Offended, I told her that was rude but I tried to let it go. My toes looked ok at the end. Onto the fill in, she was very rough. Instead of telling me to move up she pulled and yanked on my arms. The quality of fil in was terrible, very bubbly, thick, and too many coats of polish. I used to enjoy going here because it was never really busy and they always took walk ins. One day i took my daughter and son with me while i got a quick eyebrow wax and they told my daughter that she should get her mustache waxed too!! My daughter was so confused and they continued to talk to her and make her feel bad about her mustache! She's a little girl!!! I asked them politely to stop harassing my girl but they continued to banter in their native language and laugh while pointing to her mustache. My kids were traumatized! Yes, we are Italian so we have that thick Italian hair but do not make fun of a child! Ever! I go here because it is close to my home. They do a good job most of the time. If you like someone, get her name. Not all are the same. My most recent one, my manicurist did not once look at me once. She did not answer any of my questions and did a pretty lousy job. I tipped her just because I felt it was expected, but I would not use her again. That experience was one star. I went with my two daughters on 8-23-2015, the day before school started. Granted they were busy, however, I felt like we were materials on an assembly. My biggest problem is there was a very violent movie on showing criminals kidnap a family and shoot a female law enforcement officer, etc and there were many children there for a back to school treat of a manicure. the tables face the large tv. As it is a small place, there was little one could do to avoid seeing and hearing the tv. i commented to an employee that the violent movie was not appropriate for children. she just looked at me and said something i couldn't understand to her coworker and they laughed. Could have been unrelated, however, my complaint was ignored. (She could speak english) It was stressful, expensive, disappointing and i couldn't wait to get out if there. Won't be back! read more

The worst nail salon I've have ever been to in the seven years I have been living in Howard county. Hands down. The staff were extremely unprofessional: For starters, the workers talked very loudly amongst themselves for the majority of time I was there. Secondly, upon using the UV machine for the process of drying my nails, I was apparently inserting my hand incorrectly and as I tried to fix it, the woman, who was attending to my nails, grabbed my hand and very assertively stated "keep still, I know how to do this". In addition, when I gave her a tip she snatched it off of the table and murmured "thank you" at the lowest humanly pitch possible. On top of the incredibly poor customer service I received, my nails are mediocre and I feel as though I wasted 60 dollars. I will definitely not be returning to this place. With the staff that they currently have, they should not consider themselves a business. The Staff should seriously be reevaluated for professionalism. read more

K&D Nails was the worst pedicure and experience! All I can say is the good reviews must come from family members. Maybe the nails are ok but not the pedicure. I went with my friend for the first time to get a pedicure. I walked in, picked out my color and was told "five dollar more" for my color choice (Not shellac either). Seriously?! Lots of colors but expect to pay more. The good news is the less popular and winter colors seem to have no up charge. If you want callus treatment, which should be included in the pedicure, you guessed it..."five dollar more". If you are expecting a spa atmosphere you will be disappointed. The techs speak loudly to one another the entire time (not in English mind you). It is just down right rude! I was expecting peace and relaxation. I also was able to be grossed out while I watched other techs walk around eating dripping watermelon and the rare scene of another spitting shells from nuts out into a napkin in the spa area. Seriously?! The pedicure was rough and even painful. I left with dry skin, uneven toe nails and a nick on one toe. It was far from relaxing. The scrub felt like rock salt. I also received oil instead of lotion (really think it was vegetable oil). I guess "five dollar more" for lotion. I wiped it off so as not to get it on my clothes and car seats. There was no way my skin would absorb all that thick oil. I almost fell as I slipped in water on the floor from the pedicure as I was left to get out on my own, grab my purse and head for another chair to dry. My friend told her tech that she thought the pedicures to be rough. She became angry and indignant. Her response, "Go somewhere else, we don't care". That is exactly what we will do.
