Hello,
To whom it may concern, I had a horrible experience…read morewith two of your female store employees today at the Publix store located at 2775 North Columbia Street in Milledgeville, GA 31061.

I visited the store today at about 5:30 pm to process a rain check for an elderly friend who lives in Gordon Ga. There were not enough items on the shelf, so I asked for an extension on behalf of the friend. I first encountered a large black woman with glasses and dreads. She had an attitude when I approached the counter and did not speak or greet me. She immediately picked up the phone to call someone else while saying, "We just do not have the volume in this store, and we will never have that item."
I asked if there were any more items in the back stock. Ignoring me, she repeated, "We just don't have it, and you waited until the last day to get the item." I informed her pleasantly that I was filling the rain check for a friend who stayed out of town and whose relative came the day before, encountered the same issue, and got an extension for the item. She asked the other person on the phone and then said, " No, you can't get it. You have to get whatever is on the shelf."
I asked to speak to a manager. Another heavy-set black lady whose picture is on the wall between two men, behind the customer service desk, came into the area and said, " You cannot have the item. I tried to re-explain, as the first lady was really talking over me, and I told her she couldn't get it. The manager lady then re-stated. I said I knew I should have driven to Lake Oconee, Publix, feeling discriminated against as they both looked at me with disdain. She said the term policy is 30 days. I explained again that the lady had checked several times, and the item wasn't on the shelf. Both ladies scoffed. I asked if Brian was present. The manager lady with the picker on the shelf stated that he is just a store clerk. I was shocked. Brian walked in with me over 30 years ago at what was once Piggly Wiggly or Food Maxx. Brian is an older white guy with glasses who has SUPERB customer service; he would never treat a customer this way.
I was a manager at Bruno's Corporation in 1994.
I then turned and told the ladies to have a great rest of their day and left the area. I am highly disappointed in the quality of customer service from BOTH of these women.
Please do better.
I can easily shop at Lake Oconee Publix. This store is conveniently located about ten minutes from me; however, with this kind of customer service, I DO NOT have to spend my money in the Milledgeville Publix.
Publix is supposed to be top-tier in customer service. Today, not so much. There is no place for bias or discrimination in customer service. This matter could have easily been resolved, but instead, these two women just want to tell me now. Neither were they courteous nor polite in any way. This can be viewed on the camera. Instead, they appeared to be and behaved angrily or irritated that I asked.
Respectfully submitted,
