I've been living in Middle Georgia for three years and somehow just discovered The Fresh Market. I…read morehave Yelp to thank for this life update, while in town casually strolling to see what grocery stores Macon had, it popped up in my search. When I lived in Atlanta, this was my go to grocery store, so imagine my excitement realizing there's one within a 35-mile radius of me now. Cue the happy dance in the parking lot. It's tucked into a large shopping center, so there's plenty of space to pull up, park, and prepare to spend more time (and money) than you originally planned. The moment I walked in, I was hit with the comforting aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, basically the grocery store version of a warm hug. On top of that, every employee I passed greeted me. Everyone was genuinely friendly and eager to help, which made the experience even better. I felt like a kid in a very upscale, health conscious candy store. If you're trying to eat better, this place makes it dangerously easy to stay on track. They have everything, fresh squeezed juices, exotic fruits and veggies, prepared meals, plus a quality meat and seafood department. Don't even get me started on the baked goods and yes they offer vegan and gluten-free pastries, self control was tested. I was especially impressed with their dairy free selection. There were plenty of yogurt and milk alternatives, which made this non-dairy girl feel seen and supported. One of my favorite parts was the snack displays. There were so many unique, better for you options that I hadn't seen anywhere else. I grabbed a bag of herb-seasoned popcorn on a whim and let me tell you, it did not disappoint 10 out of 10. The store itself is quaint, but don't let the size fool you I easily spent an hour exploring, especially the seasonal items. Between the fresh flowers, quality products, and overall inviting vibe, this place is officially back in my rotation. It may be "close ish," but it's absolutely worth the trip.

This particular Fresh Market is located in a nice sized shopping plaza, so parking was not an…read moreissue. The service is professional and friendly and it has a nice enough ambiance to it. I picked up some chocolate as a little treat to myself while here. All in all, this was a positive experience.

This is a mid-size market/ grocery store. I have been desperately looking for kimchi to no avail and it was killing me. I found a card for this market and decided to take a look. They do have a Facebook where if you do not want to call. You can message them on Facebook and they are quiet responsive ! I asked if they had kimchi and they responded telling me they did. I purchase numerous things including Kimchi, pork & vegetable dumplings, spicy hot dogs, sesame oil, sushi rolling mat, pickled radish (precut for kimbap), chop sticks, seaweed for kimbap/sushi, and more. Im their stick they have much more ! A variety of dumplings, eggs(fresh and pickled / infused), frozen meats, and seafoods including squid, beef, and pork. Utensils and cook ware including rice cookers, chopsticks, etc. Of course there is a row of snacks , sweets, ramen, canned items, rice, mayo, oils, sauces, gochujang and more ! 10/10 recommend and has quickly become a staple. I am so happy to have found this place. Every thing I purchased was delicious ! And I will be back for more. The lady working the counter was very friendly and after I said something knew I had messaged her and was excited. They also have a rewards card where if you spend over 50 dollars 10 times or so you receive a percentage off. I live this because I was making the purchases anyways and live to save a little something when I can.

On that note, I feel that the Eastside residence and those abroad should be aware of a certain individual that I believe is the owner or a part-time employee of this establishment. She is a Caucasian, dark-hair, older female (maybe in her late 50's) and if a recollect, her name is either Veronica or Victoria. I grew up on the Eastside and my mother and other family members have made numerous purchases from this market. The interior is not the best, but they are known to have reasonable prices, the freshest fish on the Eastside, and the customer service is USUALLY above satisfactory. The satisfactory part has fallen by the wayside until my unpleasant visit last Saturday. I have personally only been in this market 5-6 times, as I currently reside outside of Macon, but when I do visit, it's normally on the weekends. On this particular day of visiting the market, there was this lady working there that I have never seen before. Note: It's normally uncustomary for any patron in Macon to receive impolite service, especially from small businesses within the community, so on this day I was in total dismay. When I walked in, I was immediately welcomed by two smiling gentlemen that worked there; this type of welcoming was traditional. The men are always friendly, helpful, cheerful and will get me in and out even on their busiest day. After making my selection and receiving my order that was waiting for me at the register, I proceeded to pay. This women that I have never met or seen before, was apparently working the register that day. I took out bank card to hand to her to complete my purchase, and at that moment, the business phone rings. Surprisingly, she completely ignores me to answer the phone. As I'm standing at the register for at least 5 minutes, she continues to talk on the phone without acknowledging that I was standing there waiting to pay and leave. The whole time that she's carrying on a lengthy conversation, I never got her to look at me once. After 5 minutes of waiting and expecting her to be courteous enough to say at any moment to allow her to complete her call or have one of the other workers check me out, never seemed to cross her mind. Those who think that that their customers were important, would have made simple and considerate gesture to extend some type of courtesy if she knew that she was going to be on an extensive call. No apologies or acknowledgement was ever done the entire time as I stood directly in front of her waiting. As she continued on with her phone conversation, as I expect anyone would, I became annoyed; not only was I being ignored, I was not given the respect as a customer, including the time that I was wasting. I turned to one of the workers behind the counter and asked if he could swipe my card so that I could leave. My request for someone else's assistance got her attention, and at that moment, she asks one of gentlemen to check me out; however, she ends up taking my payment herself. She finally tells the person on the phone to hold while she cash me out, BUT she does it with a bad attitude, as if I did something wrong. Shouldn't this have been done in the first place? How long does it take to swipe a card and hand the customer the receipt?....I say approx a minute . However, after the transaction, she had the audacity to lash out and claimed that I was disturbing her because she had a more important order from a regular customer that commonly spends $300 or more. So based on this information that she's giving me, did she expect me to stand there for 15-20 mins until she was done? ...I don't think so lady!! So I figure that I'm not a valued customer with a $30 purchase? Does my $30 serve no value to a $300 purchase? So in hindsight, this was the reason that I was being rudely ignored. This impolite lady has serious issues and ZERO people skills. So to those who are considering visiting this market, take heed. Maybe this uncouth (bad mannered) individual was having a bad day, a bad week, or even a bad year. Whatever the case may be, she shouldn't take her problems out on customers.... period! I'm sure that my experience is not the first occurrence that she has had with customers, which has probably run them to spend their money somewhere else. Because of her nasty mannerism, I am seriously thinking of doing the same. Even though this market is convenient in terms of distance, I would rather travel to the other side of town for BETTER customer service, and to pay more to businesses that value their customers regardless of how much they spend.
