In 2021, we had an electric fence installed on our property for our dog by a company called "Contain my Dog". The completed the job without issue. In 2023, we had an issue with the collar not holding a charge. I could not get ahold of anyone on the phone but received an automated message to send the collar back to them for repair, which I did. There was no communication until I heard from the company that the collar malfunction was due to "user error" and that they would "do us a favor" and fix it even though they claimed that it voided the warranty. There was NO user error on our part, the collar simply stopped holding it's charge. They ultimately returned the collar to us and it appeared to be working fine. On December 17th, 2024, our dog was able to escape from our yard as there was no indication that there was any issue with the fence or collar. We immediately called the company to see if we could troubleshoot the issue. We left a message with their call service and were assured that someone would call us back. Over the next three weeks, we collectively called the company over a dozen times, each time, speaking with someone from their call service, providing our information and being assured that someone would call back. In the interim, my husband was able to test the fence system and determine that the issue was with the collar. The fence should have an alert/alarm function that notifies us if there are any issues, which did not function properly, thus allowing our dog to escape. On January 3rd, I received an email from an automated system with information on how to send our collar back for repair. The collar was sent out the same day and was received by the company on January 6th. On January 8th, I received a text message from "Steve" (Steve Schwartz) indicating that the collar was received and would be tested. On Friday, January 10th, I sent a text asking for an update to which I received "the collar is non-repairable". I then asked if they would be sending a replacement, per their lifetime warranty. I received a response that they were unable to send a replacement, referring back to the previous collar repair and stating that because of "user error" they would not honor the warranty. Additionally, Steve indicated that I could not purchase a replacement because the frequency or our system is not compatible with a new collar and would require the swap out of our entire system. He then stated "let me see what I can do and I will be in touch tomorrow at the latest". I have received NO further contact from anyone at the company despite my efforts to get an update via text or phone. At no time has anyone called to discuss the issues with us and we are still without a solution on how to rectify the issue. We are out thousands of dollars on an eclectic fence system that is only a couple of years old, our dog is now without a safe means to be let outside off-leash and the company has failed to communicate with us at all, despite their lifetime warranty for both the fence and collar. We are at a loss on how to proceed at this point as even the owner of the company (Steve) seems to care less about helping his customers. read more

They were almost 2,000 more expensive than the Invisible Fence Company. I paid extra expecting better service, but I was wrong. When I complained that they ran BRIGHT WHITE wire above ground on my property (it could not be submerged underground) I complained that I wanted a dark color that would not be so obvious. I also complained that there were not warning flags around the eerie 2 acre perimeter, they made it seem like I was being unreasonable. Seriously, the "customer care" was totally missing. I even (very nicely) wrote to them to tell them about some obvious typos and 'templating issues' in their email follow-up campaign (I am in the business) and they basically treated me like I was complaining, and not trying to help them. The final straw... a few months later, when one of the collars broke (literals, it split in half while my dog was running around the property), they wanted to charge $400 for a replacement. PetSafe.com had the ** same exact collar ** for $140...and petSafe even honored the warranty and replaced it for free. I would not recommend this company!!! read more

Update to my earlier post. We had a problem with our electrical fence and one of the dog collars failed to keep a charge. We were very upset initially because we've had the fence for less than 3 years and this was the second time it's happened. Besides a miscommunication issue, Steve was very responsive and they rearranged their schedule in order to get a tech to our house first thing the next day. And Nick, the tech, was on time, very nice, and knowledgeable. The problems were fixed without a fee. read more

This company was a disaster from the start, the owner/salesperson arrived and was very good at selling me what I thought was a fence system designed by him, installed by one of his many technicians and to a much higher standard than any of the competition ! Oh how I was wrong ! The installation was done by his one and only technician, basically she threw the wire around my property, demanded a check before training took place and left . What a mess. The cut through our new driveway was a disaster , it was supposed to be straight but looked more like somebody cut the line in the dark ! the wire was just laid over the bushes , over tree stumps and over stone walls, nothing like the installation that was explained to me when we paid the 50% deposit. I called to complain and never got a call back from the owner "Steve" The next day the installer arrived with the owner of K9's only franchise owner, they agreed it was a bad install because it was raining on the day and that was the reason for the curved line across my driveway and sealant everywhere. The Technicians "I use the term loosely" changed the wire for black wire in places and covered it with leaves and added the promised staples which were never installed. The training consisted of them taking each one of my dogs to the fence and "shocking" them , that was all the "specialized" training consisted of . AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS ! 1 month later the fence failed, I called just before labor day weekend and was told I needed to wait until after the holidays, the technician called 4 days later after the holidays and the first words out of her mouth were " I need to advise you of costs before I can come out " Really ? The website clearly states that the wire has a lifetime guarantee ! unless you break it during major excavations. we had not touched it but were advised we needed to pay. When I called the owner "Steve" again I was told to wash my ears out and listen to him, he was rude, offensive and completely different to the day he sold me the fence. "You're paying for the training...we will move it for you if you move for a nominal fee...we are here for you" Missed appointments, only 2 visits, and $800 is the "nominal fee" to move it....not impressed read more

I must say I was skeptical about the service and the training portion( especially after reading a review). I went ahead and hired this company on the recommendation of a friend. They did not disappoint!! Prompt courteous service, installed with little disruption to yard and training done perfectly. I needed to keep my dogs safe and contained after one chased a deer and was severely injured. Previous electric fence at old house was self installed without professional training. I don't worry when I let the boys out anymore...(: Service was responsive, professional and very informative. They delivered as promised. Cost was a little more but well worth it since it included the training, In the long run it actually saved me $$ in emergency vet services and heartache!!! read more

Provider installed invisible fence and provided two collars for my dogs. He explained training was hundreds of dollars more and since we had had a Pet Safe fence in the past, we'd be well able to train the dogs ourselves ("it's very simple"). After a technician came out to set up the fence and collars, he brought the dogs around the fence border on the property (about two acres) and gave them each an initial shock. We were instructed that for the next two weeks we were to take the dogs around the boundary three times per day so they could get used to the warning signal that emits from the collar. Also, they were to be leashed whenever outdoors. We followed the instructions. Our younger dog, lab/golden mix ran through the boundary after her first week of solo containment. She expressed no discomfort whatsoever when she passed on a DAILY basis. I called the owner, Steve Schwartz, who told me to begin the two-week training all over again. He also had me perform testing on the system and collar via the telephone, but refused to come out unless I paid him for a "housecall." After her second two-week training my younger dog again ran through the wired border. I called Steve on numerous occasions thereafter. He had me perform the same tests on the system. Again, he refused to come out to our property even after he established that one of the "guaranteed for life" collars was dead, I had to meet him in Warwick to get a replacement. Ultimately after numerous phone calls and arguments with Steve, he told me that the "system" is only guaranteed if you have K-9 Contain & Train train your dog. Now I can see why he filled us with false promises of being able to train the dogs ourselves ("it's very simple") -- the old "gottcha." I've spent over $2,000 on this system. I had extra wire installed so my dogs could enjoy over two acres of our property without our worrying about their safety and containment. The fence has NEVER worked for my younger dog. I truly cannot say one positive thing about this company nor its owner. He is a condescending, rude con-artist who I'm sure will be making a "disappearing act" as soon as his business practices are exposed on a larger scale, leaving his customers high and dry with those lifetime guarantees he boasts on his website. read more

I have had such a great experience that I wanted to share. After my oldest dog (2 yo) took off and ended up running into traffic on a busy street that required her to cut through several yards, I decided that I needed to do something and to do it as soon as possible. I mentioned the running away situation to a friend and he suggested I call Steve. He said Steve was the guy to talk to...and he was right. Not only does Contain My Dog install a high quality fence, but they also provide excellent training. I live in Medway, MA had a competitors system that failed on me. I did my research and was really impressed with the fact that Contain A Dog (K-9) did not use proprietary batteries, instead using a rechargeable system. I had previously spent a lot of money on batteries for the old system and it was a pain to get them. This often resulted in long periods of time with a 'down' system. I called Steve and got an immediate response and very quick follow up. He professionally installed my system and explained everything that I needed to know, provided a warranty and his cell phone number in case of any issues. I am glad to know that this system should be the last I'll need to purchase, I have reliable service provider, and, most important, I don't have to worry about batteries! I am a dog person and was always suspect of electric dog fencing and couldn't find any good reason why I'd ever want to shock my dog to help them stay in the yard. I thought it was too cruel, plus I wondered if it really did work. Then we adopted Lulu, a 3 year old yellow lab rescue. From the moment we took her home she had a penchant for running away all throughout the neighborhood. Over time, this did not get better despite our best efforts in training her to say in our un-fenced yard. The breaking point came one day when I was away on business and my wife was taking care of my 2 boys (ages 4 and 2 at the time). In just one day Lulu ran away THREE times and each time my wife had to pack up my screaming, whining boys in the car and drive around the neighborhood yelling the dog's name. As a final straw, we watched her dart in front of a moving car without a care in the world. We were fortunate that nothing happened to her especially since the boys were standing right there. Something had to be done. We explored physical fence companies but they were costly and frankly, it would ruin the open, wooded landscape we love about our property. In doing our homework, we explored other electric fencing companies and while they were less expensive in some cases, I questioned their ability to train the dog in "one day". Plus, I generally question the low cost providers of ANY industry since I know that typically the customer pays for the decreased price in one way or another. I called Steve at Contain My Dog. His salesperson was helpful and spoke from personal experience about the efficacy of the electric dog fence itself, but mostly the training process. It took a few weeks for Lulu to be completely trained. Steve took his time with her and made sure she was ready for the next real life "challenge" before we moved on. Installation was really not a big deal at all. I was nervous about tearing up the driveway to bury the cable but the line was very slight. Not a big deal at all. I appreciated that 90% of my questions were answered on the phone and I didn't have to deal with a pushy salesperson at my house for an hour or more. It's been almost a year and Lulu actually waits in the yard while she watches us go across the street to put my son on the bus every morning. Dogs and people come and go, but Lulu stays in our yard. We even put the cable way back into the woods so that she can still explore back there. We now have the peace of mind that Lulu is safe and we don't have to drag my boys around the neighborhood searching for my missing dog! I would recommend this company to anyone who takes training seriously, loves their dog and wants to keep them safe from harm. read more
