An Indian Masshole walks into a Korean hair salon in Georgia and asks for a Texas updo. I made an appointment the day prior and when I arrived they told me they tried calling to cancel because they were insanely busy. Despite the initial terror of having my appointment canceled, they quickly rebounded and said they'd make it work. This place is crazy busy with a Korean clientele. They do a great job, and I could tell their clients were loyal. Both men, women and children came through. More than one employee worked on my hair. They divided and conquered. I was very happy with the results. I was worried they would rush and not do a great job but they worked hard and fast. Even though my appointment was almost cancelled they get 5 stars for pulling through. The salon is clean and modern. I'd be happy to go back! read more

JYP is where I usually go to get my hair cut (which is only like once a year, lol). June (the director) does my hair and does a great job-she really knows what she's doing! And Christy, her daughter, is so kind and really takes care of you :) I've gotten my hair cut, permed (setting perm), and dyed by June. I highly recommend her-she's someone I feel at rest with! I don't like doing just anything with my hair because I don't want to damage it...I'm actually very picky with it but I trust her to do an awesome job with my hair. The other hair stylists I've seen at JYP are friendly and seem like they do a great job~But the only person I can personally recommend is Director June cause she's the only one there who's done my hair! She's great~ Go to JYP! And be specific if you have something really specific in mind...yes, June does a great job, but you can't expect people to just read your mind and then get upset when you find out they can't. But June really did do a great job, especially getting my curls even better than I wanted :) Bottom line: -Go to JYP! -If you want something specific, be specific! -Ask for Director June. -Meet Christy (idk if that's how you spell her name..). In addition, she puts time and effort into all details of the work and her dedication to produce the perfect outcome is what makes me come back. Someone I know recommended this place as an alternative to Park Jun Hair. She said it was good and much cheaper. I called in for the magic straight perm about 2 weeks ago. They squeezed me in the Sunday morning schedule. Short story- The lady who did my hair was not good and super slow. I think she might have been the newly hired assistant. (June is the usual dresser my friend used but she was fully booked) After I got this perm, I found that half of my hair was cut off from the root point (this is what happens when someone not experienced tries to do the magic perm). And it's already wearing off. And the cut itself was bad, too-so uneven and so not what I wanted. It is looking worse every day. The worst part? Price was the same as PJ-a whooping $250 for a very bad haircut and perm. I give one star for working out the schedule (&the place itself was clean), but it was truly one of the worst hair cut and perm I have ever had. read more

I've been getting my haircut by June for a couple years now and she is truly the only stylist I trust to cut my hair. I am really picky about how my hair is cut because I have thick, coarse curly hair and a lot of stylists do not understand how to cut my texture of hair. I can always count on June to take her time and give me the hair cut that I want. I recently got the magic straight perm and am so happy with the results! It took around four hours and I've gotten straight perms in the past by other places where my hair would curl back up because my hair was under processed but she really took her time and she knows what she is doing! I've gotten the Magic Straight Perm from June twice and I've always had a good experience. It takes a world of patience since it takes well over 4 hours but June is always so friendly and attentive. And she always make sure to give me advice on how to maintain my hair (which I need since I'm usually the shampoo, condition & go type) . I'm primarily giving this place 5 stars because Christine's back! Well, Christine's probably a new addition to JYP's staff, but I asked for her all the time, years ago when she was at Pika Pika on Pleasant Hill (in the Hmart shopping center). She moved and well, my hair hasn't looked so great since then. The salon itself feels more mature than Pika Pika, and perhaps a little more warmer in terms of customer service. For the most part, the salon is clean, but it's not the most pristine-clean salon I've ever seen, so I'd say it's about par for the course. Most of the staff seems to speak English. I think it's a little more expensive here to get your hair highlighted, but for me, at least, it's the same non-bleaching method. I got a discount overall because i got my haircut too, but in the end, I walked out $130 before tip. I think this is still way more affordable than going to some sleek American salon. Definitely will return to see Christine for my next trim. read more

I went in with black dyed hair (which is known to be very hard to get out) and asked for ash light brown hair. The stylists here meticulously worked at my hair for 7 hours, slowly bleaching my hair to keep it as healthy as it possibly can be after bleaching. It's been one week since bleaching and my hair is still strong and healthy--very little breakage. Then, instead of trying to give me instant results, they put a dark toner in my hair to keep the ash color in for longer and that would come out slowly with each wash. I actually ended up preferring this because it helped me get used to my new hair. read more

Will like to give 0.5 stars if possible. Had perm with Jenny, didnt come out evenly and strong enough because she was trying to put some "style" in the perm. Kept saying it was my hair that was the problem. Shr redid the perm that same day and she used the smallest rod possible "just" so curls will show for sure STRONG this time. I kept on asking about the rod size being so small, she said it will not come out that tight. I have ramen noodle curls now. Will not be returning. There are many other options for hair salons in the area. Try others. read more

I've been to almost every Korean hair salon in the Duluth area, and it's been pretty hit-or-miss for me when it comes to getting my hair done. My sister had her hair cut by a lady named Mindy a couple weeks ago, so I asked for her as well. Mindy was very friendly and gave me tips on how to take care of my scalp health because it really affects your hair health as well. The haircut took a little longer than average because Mindy seems to be a perfectionist, but I'm not complaining there because I want my hair to look good as long as I'm paying for it to be done! I will definitely be back and I'm going to ask for Mindy again next time as well read more

After reading the great reviews on yelp, I was excited to check out this newly opened hair salon in duluth. What a disappointment though... I got a hair cut from a lady named June. I think she was the owner. She seemed like she wasn't in a very good mood. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time she was cutting my hair. She didnt smile or say anything other than asking what I wanted done. I usually go to hair salons to feel refreshed, but I didnt feel good at all after my visit here. Hair cut itself was not exactly what I wanted either. I didnt ask for layers, but she added layers so now I cant skip styling in the morning... Unless you know a hair stylist from here who has been doing your hair for a long tym, I wouldnt recommend new customers here and I dont think Ill ever go back here. read more

I went this salon to tone down my previous color to dark brown, (I am a regular customer here btw)the stylist who has short yellow hair said she will make my root lighter and apply dark color after that. (She didn't mention about extra cost ), Also I felt pain on my scalp while I was having color service.(never felt that kind of pain before) she lightened up my root even brighter than previous color and applied dark color again. I asked my sister who is working as a hairstylist in Canada about the color and she said I can get this color without lighting and less damage. And then the stylist charged me $160 dallars to get this such a normal dark hair and plus scalp pain. She should have explained how much she will charge for this service first, not after service . ($190 dollars charged including tips for short hair coloring ) .I would not recommend this salon , you will get over charged more than you expected because they never explain before the service. I was charged $35 for a blow dry. I was not happy with the results. The stylist dried my hair almost completely before styling with a brush. My hair did not look like a professional style. I pay $25 in Miami and my stylist even uses the iron for a more polished look. read more

Wow... That was my first thought upon walking in. The interior was very upscale and leagues above any other salon in the area. And the employees were awesome! Finally, and most importantly, was the haircut itself. My hair was cut and styled by Christine. Now, I have a "double-crown" AND cow licks so my hair is extremely hard to cut&style. But Christine showed herself to not only be an expert, but an artist as well! As I write this the next day, not only did she do a great job with the style, but it is also very easy for me to style myself in the morning!
