I've never had a haircut by Connie before, but I really love my new style. When I stopped by this past Monday to get it cut shorter with layers, she was still engaging and pleasant as I remember even after two years of not stopping by. The price she charges for a long haircut was $20. She did exactly what I wanted and didn't charge anything extra like the last place that I will never be coming back to in Gville. This was a dry cut with a slight flat iron style, and the price was a flat $20. The shop closes at 7 PM Mon thru Sat and 6 PM on Sun. If you're wanting Connie to do any of the services, give her a call bc sometimes she leaves early due to family time. There are still other stylists there, but I'm just saying she isn't there the full duration of the salon hours. read more

My hair is made perfect here. I've been going here for over 5 years now to get the Japanese straight perm treatment, which keeps my hair permanently straight until my original hair grows out. It's all about the details. The low/med heat, not drying your hair out, slowly ironing your hair so the strands don't break, making sure the cream gets on the baby hairs and timing everything perfectly. Connie does it perfectly. I've been to so many other places to try out this treatment which I get about 1-2 times a year and she does the best. And what's even better is that she has the best price AND best quality. I don't trust anyone else with my perm except Connie! read more

Whoa whoa whoa... Are we back in 1994?? The prices at Hair Time sure make me think so. Wanted to write this recommendation for Hair Time which has become my new go to place for haircuts. The prices are right, the quality is great, and location is convenient. Less than half price of what I'm used to paying for my hair cut. Been coming here for several months now and I can confirm that this has become my new favorite place to cut my hair and can recommend them for men hair cuts highly and I think lady hair too. First heard about this place from my wife who told me to check them out as they had $10 hair cuts for men, so I approached with a bit of skepticism. She told me to ask for a woman named Candy (Kim Sung Un). When I first went in, it appeared they were just opening so I asked the lady who was there if Candy was working today. The lady looked upset that I didn't ask for her and became nearly hostile with me. I was just about to leave until I ended up finding Candy's business card and called her directly. Long story short, when I eventually met Candy (who wasn't working that day but made special arrangements to come on her off day since it was my first time - talk about nice and good customer service!) Anyhow, I've been a happy customer ever since. Located in the same plaza as What The Pho and Hanjin Mail and across the street from pleasant hill car wash. Parking is plentiful. I went to Hair Time for the first time today. I wasn't expecting the best because this isn't a big, well known salon but I was very impressed! Connie was the stylist that cut my hair. I came in and was helped immediately. I told her what I wanted and she started cutting right away. At first I was a little afraid because I didn't know if I explained what I wanted in enough detail but Connie was very experienced and professional. For all you guys out there, the haircut is $15 and the hair wash is an extra 2 bucks. Make a reservation for Connie since she's good with hair cuts for guys, as well as girls. Scissor hands was closed because they were visiting some fashion expo in FL, and I really needed a haircut badly. The Pleasant Hill area's known to have a lot of hair salons/stylists, and decided to check this place out after hearing good reviews about Connie. She's chinese unlike most of the hair stylists in the area, so shoutout to all those who can speak chinese haha. Language barrier shouldn't be much of a problem b/c she's pretty fluent with english. I made a reservation by phone for 2:30 and when I got there I got seated immediately. This isn't a large hair salon like with Scissor Hands or Pika Pika, and is rather small and cozy. Connie and a few other workers were watching the French Open when I sat down, which got me worried a little bit. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she said okay and started trimming my hair. She's a really nice person to get to know, and enjoys talking with her customers. The only problem that I have is that I'm worried about her multitasking, and would rather sit through a silent haircut without any conversation. Something else that really bothered me was that periodically she would pause and watch the French Open. I'm not worried because I was constrained on time, but the fact that she might lose her train of action and screw up some place. But luckily she got it the way I wanted it and my hair was fine. After getting the $2 wash, she dried my hair and even showed me how to style it to get the way I wanted. I asked a few questions about hair wax and she answered them all, and knew what she was talking about. I was pretty satisfied with my haircut but would rather have her pay more attention next time. If you do plan on coming here, I recommend making a reservation for Connie. She does a good job with haircuts for guys, but I still think Scissor Hands does it better. read more

I've been wanting to get a straight perm for a while and asked around different salons for prices. The place I usually go to get my hair done charges $300. My friend and mom recommended this place bc the price was so good. I'm weary of Korean salons, but they charge $79 for a Magic Straight Perm and my friend's look good so SOLD! A magic straight perm is a perm to straighten your hair. My hair is naturally wavy and I have to flat iron it everyday to get the look I want. It just takes too much time, so if you get the perm you can just wash and go. I've had several straight perms and some were good, some were bad. This place did a good job. This is the secret to straight Asian hair! Shh... don't tell anyone that I told you! Hair Time is located in the same shopping center as What the Pho. They have hair cuts that start at $15. My mom got her hair cut here, and liked it. However for me, I'm going to stick to my usual place for a hair cut. Touch ups start at $30 and I'm going to get that done next time. The lady Amy is really nice. She can speak English so if she answers in Korean, just start speaking English and she will respond. There is another Chinese lady that helps her out and she is nice too. I arrived at 10:30 and there were already 2 women getting perms and then 2 more came in. There were also several men that came in for hair cuts. It was pretty busy. I do have to inform you that this place is not the nicest place. If you want something fancy then this is not the place for you, but if you want a good deal then give it a try. They have been there for one year. Hair Time doesn't take credit card so bring a check or cash. Luckily, I checked my mail before coming and my checks came in the mail so I had them with me. Otherwise, I would have had to go to the ATM, which would of been a pain. It's best to make an appointment since it is busy. My perm took 3 1/2 hours so keep that in mind. I'm still going to stick with my regular guy to get my hair cut, but for a perm this place does a good job and has great prices. read more

Came here to see Connie after reading all the rave reviews. Before I get into the haircut part, I have one major complaint. I scheduled an appointment for 4:30. I arrived about 5 minutes later. Connie greeted me and gestured for me to sit and said it would be a "few minutes." She was with a client, but I could see they were finishing up. OK, no problem. After all, I was 5 minutes late. After the client had left, I was expecting Connie to call me next. But no... she called a woman who had been going in and out of the salon. I have no idea if she was there before me. I guess she must have been, though she was not present when I walked in. So a "few minutes" turned into 45 minutes. Argh. I was getting antsy because at this point it was past 5:15 and I knew I had to be somewhere by 6pm. I guess that is the problem when your hair dresser is popular. After THAT client was done, Connie thanked me for waiting and asked what I would like done today. She listened to my requests and set to work. She immediately remarked that my layers were uneven and that she had to correct them. She spent quite a bit of time correcting them, actually. I noticed she typically does dry cuts, but with me, she asked her daughter to shampoo me halfway through the cut (because my hair was too flat) so she could continue cutting my layers. After she was completely done with my layers, she asked about my bangs. I was actually pretty happy with how my hair looked as it was, but I said I typically ask for feathered bangs. Unfortunately, she cut them a bit shorter than I would like and they look noticeably choppy. I get that is what feathered is, to an extent, but I was hoping for more subtlety. Also, initially I was impressed because I saw Hair Time takes American Express. Not many Asian businesses do. They had a sign posted on the wall that had all the major credits printed on it. But when I tried to pay with said Amex card, Connie said they did not take Amex. Hm. Misleading. Anyway. Overall, I'm happy with my look and I can definitely tell Connie knows her stuff (and knows that she knows it). Just wish she would stick to appointment times better. Oh, and if you were wondering if it was a busy day, it was a Thursday. So I can't imagine what Fridays and Saturdays are like! read more

I waited for my turn and after seeing the hairstylist I wanted finished with her customer, I went up but she catered to a male friend of hers who came into the salon awhile AFTER I DID first. Before a friend told me about Hair Time I used to go to a different hair dresser every time I got my hair cut because I couldn't find anyone I liked. Connie is the best! I would seriously have a breakdown if she ever moved or stopped cutting hair. She has been cutting my hair for the past year and a half now and I can't even imagine going to anyone else anymore. Granted the place is not the nicest, but the price is good considering the service you get. I get my hair trimmed every 3-4 months for $20 a pop, and I get a straight perm every 6 months. The straight perm is only a little over $100 which is the cheapest I've found in Atlanta, but it's actually better than a lot of the expensive places that charge $300+. My hair is so straight now that I stopped using my flat iron and just let my hair air dry and it comes out perfect every time. Last fall I made the mistake of letting someone else touch my hair and she dyed my hair a funny color that I absolutely hated, and I had to come to Connie to fix it. I think I've learned my lesson and will be coming to Hair Time for as long as I possibly can. read more

We relocated from Cincinnati last year and ever since I have been struggling to find a good hair salon... I tried hair images which charged me $350 to straighten my hair (non sense) , then I went to David Mitchell in Bankhead paid 70 + tips , left that place in tears (sucks right) and here I am trying HAIR TIME , I love it!!! Connie of course cut my hair , she did an outstanding job! I will be coming back for hair straightening soon. Highly recommended this place. I've come here several times now to Connie. She does a great job with magic perms and is fair with pricing. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to get a magic perm. Today I got a magic perm on the top and digital perm for the bottom. It turned out great. Connie is super friendly and very helpful to everyone. Sometimes, it does get in the way a bit when neighbors stop by asking her for help continuously with translations and such but Connie is too nice to say no. read more

Connie puts pride into her work, is an expert at what she does, and she listens to your exact request. She took my dyed black hair, and turned it into a beautiful brown shade. She even stayed at her shop an hour after closing to help me. She offered me a snack, some water, gave me 2 huge bottles of Biolage shampoo, and charged me half the price of other salons. I couldn't even make eye contact with anyone in the salon when I came in. I was waiting for Connie to finish not one, not two, and not even three people. I waited for about an hour by the time she asked the fourth person to come with her so she could tend to their hair. Throughout the whole time she avoided making eye contact with me and kept greeting other people that has walked in AFTER me. I'm guessing they're her regular customers and I only go there about thrice a year for my kids so I wasn't as important to keep. At least have the decency to come and greet me and tell me how much time I would have to wait. You could simply say that you're booked for the next few hours and I would understand. This might be a bit harsh of a review but its my honest opinion and experience. No exaggeration, just straight forward. $5 for wash $20 for haircut I called this morning the minute they opened (5-10 minutes after they opened). Spoke to Connie and asked if she had any free time on her schedule for me to book an appointment. She said "I can squeeze you in." I appreciated her squeezing me into her schedule I should have realized that means that I probably won't get the attention I expected or wanted which intern made me worry about the quality of the haircut i was about to get. I told her I would be there in a hour and I arrived 15 minutes early.... Fast forward to when I arrived...Connie was busy with two clients (sisters?) and I waited an hour (fine, I understand since she did say she was squeezing me into her schedule). Honestly, when I saw her cutting the two girls before my hair, the result wasn't all that good on their hair and she actually spent more time on their hair than even my hair. None of us walked out with that great of a haircut in my opinion lol. But I didnt want to be rude and walk out right after they were done and be like "after I saw you cut these two girls hair so poorly I'm outta here" so I kind of prepared myself for what was to come from here and just went with it...... When it came to be my turn, she was really nice in the beginning to me when washing my hair and small talking.....but when I expected to sit at her booth she sat me down at not her chair but another random empty chair (didnt make me feel good) after she washed my hair. Strike #1 After, she started to blow-dry/cut some of my hair till children came in and two other clients of hers. She immediately went to take care of them and had her assistant (I think it was her daughter or another family member) do the rest of my blow dry. I was not happy with this either because not only was It not the typical blow dry either, just the blow dry you would do at home, but I don't think knew what she was doing and try to waste time.... She dried my hair till it was dry and kept drying it for no reason and it started to burn my head so I told her "I believe my hair is dry" so she would stop. On top of that I have dyed hair so she was stripping the color from my hair! I don't think she realizes heat is dyed hairs worst enemy! .....Strike #2. I had to wait after having my hair blow-dry for her to finish with her other clients for a few more minutes and then she finished my haircut. Aka she does dry haircuts. Usually with dry haircuts you can get a more accurate and clean cut but clearly something went wrong if my ends looks as bad as they do (see pic). It's not clean cut. I told her 2-3 inches. She actually took off closer to 5-6. (See pic, before my hair was passed my boobs and now it ways above- it actually looks a little longer in post pic because I'm tilting my head down) This dosent bother me because my hair grows up super fast (I grow 1 inch of hair a month) but I know a lot of girls hate this. Fast forward a bit.....when she was cutting my hair she seemed to be rushing and not really caring.... I HAVE LONG HAIR AND SHE DIDNT USE ONE CLIP IN MY HAIR WHILE CUTTING LAYERS! Red flag much? At the end, not only did she chop off a lot of my hair but it didnt look good in my opinion. It looked choppy, not polished. Not professional. I lied to be polite and said I loved it but......I was truly upset when I left. Luckily, its just hair and it grows back really fast for me. I feel I have gotten better haircuts at this price elsewhere and even super cuts. Even though I appreciated her squeezing me into her schedule, I would have rather not accepted being squeezed into her schedule if this was how she was going to treat me. I feel like she was just trying to make some quick money on me honestly :(. I didnt feel important, I didnt feel pretty leaving or happy. Every girl should feel pretty and happy after a haircut, I felt ripped off and uncared for. My main concern is my hair does not look clean cut for work! I sent a picture to my mother and my friends and they are all furiously upset! You know its not a good haircut when no one compliments you on your haircut. They said I should have gone somewhere more expensive with a guarantee my hair will look clean cut for work. I should have listened to my fellow yelpers who recommended pika pika and next time, I'll try there. Despite my bad experience.....I will say Connie is a very nice lady. She recommended a lot of dim sum places and other good chinese food places for me to try. She speaks cantonese and mandarin. I just didnt feel treated well, or the quality of the haircut being poor (How can I go to work with this hair?!). She's affecting my paycheck....not cool. I did not get a hair cut here so I can't comment on her skill. I read the reviews in here and decided to give Connie a try. Called and spoke to Connie and made an appointment for 12:15. Got there couple mins early, she was finishing up so I waited. There was another lady waiting already. When she was done I let her know that I had an appointment at 12:15, she took the lady who was waiting and told me I'm next. The lady spoke to Connie in Chinese and said she didn't have an appointment and if that is that ok. Connie reply in Chinese and said, don't worry about him, he can wait, I just tell him you had the appointment first. Connie then looked at me but before she can say anything, I let her know that I also speak Chinese and if you can't keep an appointment, don't take it. Tried this place out in May of 2014 after reading some of the positive reviews on yelp. However, with my experience, I will probably not be returning: I called the morning before to book an appointment with Connie. When I arrived, she sat me down and I told her I wanted to donate my hair. She was very nice an everything but after she chopped off a good 10 inches or so, I showed her a pic of what kind of style I wanted afterwards. She looked and said "oh cute!" and just continued to layer away my hair. Once another customer came early, she began to rush me out and not give me her full attention. When she was done, she didn't even check to see if it was even on both sides! When I got home and was able to clearly see the cut, I had to cut at least another inch or two myself just to make it even and not choppy. Sad to say, but I definitely won't be returning. read more

Connie is the worst barber ever. She is lazy and unprofessional and doesn't pay attention to any details. I asked for a simple fade and she made it uneven on both sides. She didn't clean up the line so the fade line is still visible. She was done with my haircut in less than 10 minutes and I had to point out multiple times throughout those 10 minutes what to do. Not sure if she understands English well enough. She was more concerned about finishing up my haircut than she was of doing a good job. Even though she didn't have a lot of customers waiting after me. I asked for her to shape my beard while keeping it as long as possible and she took off half the length off it. Save your money and don't waste it on this unprofessional and lazy barber, Connie. She will ruin your hair and will not do what you ask to do. read more

SO glad that I listened to other fellow "Yelpers" and went to Hair Time to see Connie!! I got 11 inches cut off and she put in a hair relaxer in for me. First of all let me say that Connie is AWESOME! This woman knows hair!! True that you aren't going to get champagne or other things that you might at a high end salon, but if you would like to save money and sacrifice some luxuries and STILL have an awesome hair cut then you need to check out hair time!! I got a hair cut and style WITH a relaxer ALL for $150 bucks!!!! Connie will take a debit card too you dont' need cash. I adore Connie! I found her shop several years ago when she offered a coupon to first time customers and haven't let anyone touch my hair since. I used to work nearby, so I would often run by for a quick trim at lunchtime and she was always able to fit me in. She's incredibly flexible with her hours and always tries to work with you. For her quality of work, you can't beat her price. She cuts, dyes and straightens my hair. She typically doesn't travel to do hairstyles for weddings, but she was kind enough to travel for my wedding. I couldn't have been more pleased with how she styled my hair, my mom's, and my bridal party's hair. She's truly a great person and a wonderful hairdresser! read more

What else can I say about Connie that hasn't already been said? I went for the first time to get my hair colored/touch uped. I needed to get it touch uped for months to the point my hair was halfway grown to natural color. It also had a lighter color in the middle because when I first got my hair colored, the lady who did it first time messed up. So basically, I had 3 different colors in my hair. Horrible. Connie fixed it so that it was all one color. But she also made it so that it looked natural, with lighter streaks in some parts (I did not get highlights). She made it look GOOD! I got lots of compliments on my hair color. I will go back and keep going back! Her prices are pretty low compared to other places, especially for the work she did. read more

I came in after a phone call to make a reservation and a price quote (for color + cut for long hair = $80). I got there 5 min before my reservation time. Connie colored my hair and did the cut. This place is amazing, and the price is a good deal if you are looking for a cheap but good quality place. She is very flexible with pricing for students, and she makes sitting there waiting for your hair to be done very enjoyable and makes sure that her customers are happy. I seriously love Connie. And everyone else there is very courteous. A couple of my girl friends told me about her and when they said $25 I almost fell over. I wasn't expecting much as most people don't cut my hair right (and I've worked in many salons etc). I took a picture and she cut my hair exactly the way I wanted and gave me good advice. She makes it financially easy to come back so I won't have bad hair while saving $100 to drop at the hair salon and my grow out never looks bad. I went in for a Japanese straight perm last week and overall I enjoyed the experience. Connie is really nice. The only reason I'm giving this review a two star is because the perm itself isn't anywhere near the quality I expected. :( I was really disappointed. Right after the perm, my hair looked really nice and straight. I waited 72 hours before letting any water near my hair, and I didn't even shower for 3 days. In just one week, my hair looks like the way it used to, just a little bit straighter. It's back to being frizzy and I don't even know if I want to wear my hair down.
