This is my favorite Indian place in this area. My Indian coworker preferred Garam Masala, which I'm not a fan of. So basically, different places for different tastes. The food is always served hot and can be made mild or spicy on request. I have not tried their lunch buffet yet, but have heard good things about it as well. The waiters are dirty, we ordered a mango lassi and the guy brought them un his hand and his hands were dirty, the cup looked horrible it seems that they have been using it for 20 years. I was taken here for a first date. I've been back multiple times since! The food is absolutely delicious. Super vibrant in flavor. All proteins are cooked perfectly every time. Unlike many other Indian places, they have goat on the regular menu, which I find excellent since it can be one of the best red meats available when prepared right. I've eaten at a bunch of Indian places, some good some not so good but this place is the best Indian food I've ever had, I wanted to lick the plate when I was done that's how delicious it was. We got chicken simosas for appetizers they were delicious. We also got a pitcher of sangria and it was made fresh by the owner, he then came by our table and talked to us and poured us glasses of "Indian Rum" on the house. Overall the food is good. Jyoti has built a small empire for themselves which shows their success over the years. To be honest there is better in NJ but not in the immediate area. Indian food is my dirty little secret. I love this stuff! I was super excited when my boyfriend's mother decided to take me here (Indian boyfriend). I was definitely not disappointed. The food was delicious, the service was great, and I left a happy camper. I've gone here several times since and they've recently added a fusion Chinese-Indian menu. I have been coming here for years, both as an omnivore and now as a vegan. I must say, this place does not disappoint! The complementary appetizer at the beginning is delicious. The meals are always fresh and exactly to my liking. When I say "spicy" I actually get spicy. When I ask for extra rice, I actually get extra rice. We asked for a few boxes to take our food home tonight as I wasn't feeling well. The lady (I forget her name. Starts with an A I think) offered to wrap it for us and even put extra rice in! Its a beautiful interior restaurant, the food is fantastic, and you'll be thinking about it long after its over...because you would over stuff yourself if ur anything like me when it comes to a buffet! I've only gotten delivery from here, so can't speak to a dine-in experience. But their food is amazing! I've gotten the onion fritters appetizer, goat biryani, Tikka masala paneer, and Malai kofta. The kofta could've used a couple more balls, but the sauce is so good I don't even care. So tasty. Reading the other reviews - I suspect they tone down the spiciness and flavor profile for the lunch buffet because everyone is eating it and you don't want to serve very spicy for everyone. Very disappointing. Unbeknownst to us, we came towards end of the buffet period, and trays were empty or otherwise dried out and appealing. This we realized as we started to load our plates for the buffet. Although the hostess was willing to provide items on a request basis, we would have had to stand there awaiting each item, since, as she stated, this was the end of the serving period and they weren't going to replenish the chafing dishes (actually 30 min remained). I never heard of such a thing! Instead, we should have been offered the regular menu from which to order only. Otherwise, the buffet that we purchased should have been identical to the buffet that was presented to diners who came in earlier. One my favorite local place for Indian food. Paneer pakoras are excellent for apps with the red chutney. The "go to" entree has always been paneer bhurji for as long as I can remember. It is very very delicious. The last time , I tried their onion paneer naan(you see I have a thing for paneer) and boy it was damn good. Even better than garlic. Came Here solo while in the area to check out their lunch buffet. I have to say that this is a step above most Indian buffets as they majority cater to vegetarians. I was very happy with that and the paneer literally melted in my mouth as I ate it. The reason I gave this place three stars is because the non took about 15 minutes to get to me and it was only after I asked for it three times that I got it. They even gave me the check before mine on came. The owner did make well and try to speak to me and said he thought I was a quick lunch time person and maybe wanted to leave quickly. However, I have been to Jyoti's enough times to know that they have different cooks at different times. If you can catch a day when the lady who owns the place is cooking your in for a treat. Indian restaurants typically make cheap on the house papads. Not these guys. They really make them well (instead of in microwave others do) and offer free dips with it. We've celebrated our kids birthday parties at the banquet hall and people really commented on how good the food was. Here's their best dished not to be missed - mulligatawny soup (with lots of lemon you squeeze into it yourself) paneer pakoda aloo chat paneer bhurji malai kofta any tikka masala chilli naan is spicy but good. Garlic naan is superb - soft, buttery and so good. Ras malai desert. Mango lassi is good. Simply the best indian food around here. Period. We've taken our friends (jewish, chinese) and even they commented how good the food was. They had some lamb and chicken dishes and were really surprised how good it was. Without a doubt this is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. My girlfriend and I have been coming here for a couple years and the owners and wait staff always make us feel more than welcome. As for the food, from the bread to the main courses, it's always top notch. I've practically order just about everything on the menu but the shahjahani biryani, lamb saag and chicken tikka masala are my favorite. The lamb is always perfectly tender and juicy and the sauce is so flavorful you'll find yourself ordering more bread just to make sure you dont leave any behind. Same goes for the chicken tikka, never dry and the sauce is incredible, never watery and never to thick, always just right. I have taken people here who have never really tried Indian food and they continuously beg me to take them back. Do yourself a favor, GO, order a nice Indian beer or cocktail and enjoy. read more

I had hit pay dirt in terms of finding authentic good Indian food!!!!! The selection is not overwhelming and offers more than the usual buffet layout. Everything is very fresh, and usually available. Sometimes buffets don't keep up with the demand and your choice gets limited. The atmosphere is pleasant, music in the background...and the staff is professional, friendly and attentive. Glasses are refilled as is the Naan basket. The prices are great. Lunch for two, having just water with tax was Twenty and a Penny to be exact. One of these days I'll stop by and give dinner a try. Don't let the loss of one star fool you. This place is still one of the best around. Unfortunately I've grown in my palate and have dined in many more Indian restaurants since. Therefore my perfect five star rating two years ago can no longer hold true. My visit this time around was still fantastic. The quality and flavor of the food is right up there with my faves. The masala, paneer bhurji, and vegetable manchurian were oh so yummy. The desserts of gulab jamun and kheer were done perfectly--seriously it was done perfectly. To top it off they served me fresh naan that was still piping hot and buttery from the kitchen. They also had some Indian sweets along with their desserts. Only gripe I had was their pakora was kind of soggy and they didn't have samosas left during my last visit. Also it took a long time for the naan to come out and I started my first plate without it. Aside from those minor things Jyoti is still one of the best. It had been quite a while since my last appearance here and I'm delighted that it still holds a special place in my heart. Try it out yourself by ordering an appetizer and you will realize how bad they are. It's too pricy and The sangria they served was nothing but grape juice.
