Don't let the loss of one star fool you. This place is still one of the best around. Unfortunately I've grown in my palate and have dined in many more Indian restaurants since. Therefore my perfect five star rating two years ago can no longer hold true. My visit this time around was still fantastic. The quality and flavor of the food is right up there with my faves. The masala, paneer bhurji, and vegetable manchurian were oh so yummy. The desserts of gulab jamun and kheer were done perfectly--seriously it was done perfectly. To top it off they served me fresh naan that was still piping hot and buttery from the kitchen. They also had some Indian sweets along with their desserts. Only gripe I had was their pakora was kind of soggy and they didn't have samosas left during my last visit. Also it took a long time for the naan to come out and I started my first plate without it. Aside from those minor things Jyoti is still one of the best. It had been quite a while since my last appearance here and I'm delighted that it still holds a special place in my heart. Perhaps it was one of my first times trying Indian food, or Indian buffets, or is the only Indian buffet in the area, but I am very fond of this establishment. The food isn't that incredible, but it sure isn't bad either. However, consider me president of the "I eat too much Gulab Jammen when it is available at an Indian buffet" facebook group. Tip of advice: don't be the kid that came with me and had to sit fumbling with my iPhone apps because he is too scared to try the food. Well, I'm sure the food would have been alright...if we ever got it. My family and I went there to have dinner before seeing a movie. The movie was at 9:20 and we got to Jyoti around 7, thinking we had plenty of time. Too bad it took about twenty minutes alone before we even had our orders taken. I don't want to sound cruel but I noticed that another reviewer made the observation that other Indian families were being taken care of first, regardless of when they came in. Needless to say, my family had a similar experience. We ended up waiting almost and hour for our food and still nothing, meanwhile families that came in after us were being attended to. Nobody ever took our drink orders or came to check up on us either. My dad asked the waiters several times if they could check on our food in the kitchen. Each time, they would take their time and fiddle around with table arrangements and whatnot before even going in the kitchen and then come out and say something vague like "just a bit longer". I understand that it was a Saturday night and they only had two waiters but you'd think a restaurant would know better, than to be understaffed on a Saturday night. Unfortunately, we had to leave before we got to eat because it was cutting it too close to the movie time. When we were walking out into the parking lot one of the ladies came out, saying our food was ready and we should have let them know that we were going to a movie, so they could have prepared our food accordingly. Pardon me but I don't think not telling your server your plans for the night is any excuse for poor service/an inappropriately long wait. read more

I wish I could give them a zero. This is the worst Indian restaurant I've come across. Please don't go with the ratings and reviews. Try it out yourself by ordering an appetizer and you will realize how bad they are. It's too pricy and The sangria they served was nothing but grape juice. I wish I could leave 0 stars. We ordered for delivery on grub hub over 2 hours ago. I called after one hour, and they said they had misread the address and it would be delivered "after a few other deliveries" (no apology). Then ANOTHER hour later, they called back (same guy who said it would be delivered) and told me they can't deliver the order to my address. THIS HAPPENED TWO HOURS AFTER I PLACED MY ORDER. They told me they wouldn't deliver my food, and refused to refund my money. They told me to call grub hub to complain. There was absolutely no apology. They had already made the food and according to the first call, it had already been placed in the delivery vehicle. $40 down the drain unless grub hub refunds me. And again, absolutely no apology. For Indian food, Jyoti isn't good but we're talking about a whole different beast here... an Indian buffet. Jyoti has tons of mediocre Indian food at a decent price. They have all you can eat Gulab Jamun. As Jonathan L. below me has stated and that may be worth the price of admission. I ordered paneer tikka masala and achari chicken through uber eats today and both of them were so bad that we could not eat. I have an upset stomach ever since and not only me, my friend who ate a little with me is also complaining of stomach pain. Having just moved to N. Jersey from TX I have been using Yelp like crazy. Today I was craving some Indian food and once again Yelp has shown me the way. Upon entering the restaurant the smell that engulfed me was wonderful. Some Indian restaurants are like a punch in the face upon entry but here was inviting and enticing. Myself and my friend just went with the buffet and was I ever glad we did. The food was delicious and the service was good as well. Although there wasn't a ton of choices, what they did have was amazing. I'm also giving bonus points for some of the best gulab jamen I've ever had! The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is I wish that they had samosas on the buffet. But I suppose that is just me being greedy. 4 and a half stars. Can't wait to go back! read more

Ate there yesterday with my family. I felt the food was good, but that my dish was just sauce put over meat- that it wasn't a made to order dish. The host is a very jovial guy, who made the experience very pleasant. He also took the orders- a little was lost in the translation. The servers seemed a bit careless. Had dinner here with my teen sons and husband. All of us had a great meal. Chicken masala, Sag Paneer, Fish Curry and Fish Tandoori were all delicious. The staff couldn't be nicer and the owner came out and helped my elder son with his fish tandoori by showing him how to add a bit of lime and mint sauce. The food is exceptional. Loved the variety of the buffet. The paneer is heavenly, and they serve appetizers and several desserts.

Terrific lunch buffet. Always well stocked and super variety. Try the tandoori chicken, it's excellent.

Excellent Indian food! Everything we ordered (saag paneer, naan, samosas, pickles, raita, gulab jamon) was really delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. Service was great, too, but this might be in part to the fact that we were only one of four tables at 7:00 at night! It's a shame that it doesn't seem to be that crowded since the food was good, but a coworker mentioned she'd been going there for years and they seem to do a lot of business with take-out. Nice Indian restaurant on Rte 46 in Wayne NJ. Open late. We had delicious and very flavorful dishes. The decor is fair, dress is casual. Not overly busy on a week night. Honestly the food was so good I would have 5 starred them but there was a bit of a language issue with our waiter (didn't know what honey is for tea). Other than that, I'd give them a strong 4 stars or weak 5 if that existed. The entrees priced fairly around 15 bucks a plate. Big app for 8 or so. Nice sized parking lot. The food here is awesome. The vegetable korma is one of our favorites, though we haven't gone wrong with anything. We've only gotten take out, so can't comment on dining there - it looks nice though, and a huge plus is the full bar (a rarity in this area for a non-chain). I went there for the first time today for lunch and got their buffet to go. As I was eating my chicken tikka masala I felt that the flavor just wasn't right but it wasn't horrible so I kept eating. As I came to one of my last piece of chicken I bit down and the flavor of spoiled meat was unbelievable, the color wasn't right and the smell wasn't right. Maybe I didn't notice earlier due to all the spices masking it. Right now I am just hoping to not get food poisoning, This should not be in anyone's mind after having a meal. They won't give you any Miller Lite, but you can bring your own booze and expect there to be an opener and frosty glasses brought to you right away. The first time we ate in this restaurant it was an off time between lunch and dinner. The food was good but the service was only fair. We thought the food was worth another try, however this time we arrived during the dinner rush. The food was poor, service was practically non-existent. Both times I had requested raita, the first time the waiter just forgot to bring it and we had to remind them to remove it from the bill. The second time they brought it when we had just about finished our meal, I informed them that I no longer wanted it but they insisted on leaving it on our table then charging us for it. Came in at 6 on a Tuesday. Totally empty except 1 other couple, but the service was still very very slow. 3 waiters and it took 30 minutes just to get the check.
