I went to Braven (the lobby bar) before the Oilers game and was so impressed. I was seated immediately and the server brought out some candied popcorn while I looked at the menu and waited for my friends. I was expecting the prices to be a little higher considering this is an upscale hotel but everything was reasonably priced. I got the Dark and Stormy cocktail but they have lots of options for wine and other spirits. With this being next to Roger's Place and downtown parking is at the premium. I came after work and so I was taking the LRT which is a great option since it's only a block away. Check it out next time! read more

We loved our stay here. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by friendly valets and the front desk was very helpful with check in. I loved our room, it was thoughtfully laid out and had lots of storage and a nice view of the city. There were separate thermostats for the bathroom and living/sleeping space which was nice. We were there on an Oilers game day and they had a few special touches like free face painting and oilers colored popcorn at the bar. We went to the lobby bar for a drink and liked that there were many types of seating options and lots of TVs. As platinum bonvoy members, we had lounge access and enjoyed the appetizers and breakfast offered. We also took advantage of the hotel pool during our stay, and found it very nice. The room service was one of my favorite parts of this hotel, the carpaccio and truffle fries were very good but the highlight for me was their signature ice menu. If we are ever back in Edmonton, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. read more

We had the pleasure of staying in both a suite and a deluxe corner room and both stays were incredibly comfortable. As this property was built in 2019, the hotel and its rooms are sleek, vibrant, and modern. The hotel's executive lounge is a nice touch, and definitely worth a visit, as they also provide daily breakfast and hors d'oeuvres in addition to a place to wind-down. Bring your own snacks. This hotel does offer any type of snack to purchase. I was looking for chocolate, chips or pretzels. I was told to walk 2 blocks down to the 7 eleven. The room doesn't even have beverages to purchase. They do provide an empty refrigerator. I just stayed 2 nights at the courtyard downtown and they fully stocked the room with snacks for sale and refrigerator with drinks. I travel a lot for business. This hotel is nearly flawless. Super comfortable rooms, great staff and the lobby bar area is lively. My only complaint is that there are a surprising amount of street people hanging around at the front and side of this fine hotel. Be careful not to leave your car doors open or luggage unattended. read more

This hotel is the ultimate weekend getaway! A couple of girlfriends and I had planned a staycation weekend here for 2 nights. At first I wasn't too keen on the idea of staying in Edmonton for my weekend getaway as I've lived here all my life but let me tell you, I'm glad I did and I hope to go again soon! Upon arriving at the hotel, we had valet service, which is a great offering to have in this central downtown location where parking is already limited. The hotel lobby was already buzzing with hotel guests and we even spotted Darnell Nurse and Gene Principe in the lobby as we arrived. The check in process was smooth. We already mentioned to the staff we would need 3 of everything for our stay ahead of time and I'm so glad we did. Getting to our room, we were impressed with the cleanliness and modern decor. The small finishing touches such as easy to use Bluetooth speaker, wine bottle opener at the drink station, pen with paper, and our three robes and slippers. The facilities at this hotel are luxurious and well worth the splurge! We stayed in the executive floor and had access to the executive lounge which includes breakfast buffet, cocktail hour snacks (charcuterie), and late night snacks (chips, fruit, and chocolate, etc.) this upgrade really fed us an adequate amount and we were very satisfied with the excellent service as well. The gym is huge, fully equipped for any type of workout, and super clean and organized with towel service and group fitness classes as well. After your workout, take a shower and enjoy the beautiful indoor pool and hot tub! Perfect for relaxing or doing a few laps. Lockers and towels included as well! Highly recommend this hotel if you're coming to Edmonton and want to have a luxurious experience or looking for your next staycation destination! Super close to many amenities in downtown as well but no need to even leave the hotel if you don't want to! read more

Lobby Bar Review! This place is definitely fun. It's very very slow service though, so you need to budget time to be here. We only got one bottle of wine, two cocktails, and some nuts and olives and we were there for like two hours. It took almost 30 minutes to receive our cocktails after ordering them. Otherwise I like it. The atmosphere definitely makes the place better. I think that is why most people come here. So we order these $10 nuts right? I'm like damn, these nuts better be good if they're so expensive. Tiny bowl of nuts. But they were actually really good! I was thankfully surprised by that. Olives were also $10, but not so good. However, there were a lot of olives so I felt like the price was worth it. Bottle of Tempranillo was about $52. Nice bottle of wine. I would order that again. We also had an old fashioned and a "peach basket" which had Campari. It was delicious! Very soapy, just how I like my Campari (lol for real though, love that taste). Couches are comfortable. This is the most frustrating booking experience I've ever had. Since a wedding was booked at this hotel and a block of rooms was being held at a reduced rate, they insisted that a different reservation was required for the other nights prior to these nights and subsequent to these nights. This resulted in 3 separate reservations. I was told there was no guarantee that I could stay in the same room (ie, I might have to checkout then check in several hours later since the reservations are separate...even though the price is close to 600 a night). Just so unprofessional and ridiculous. I figured if I might have to check out, I might as well book at another hotel that is much less expensive. Marriott - get your act together. Wonderful hotel and staff. I attended a company meeting here and it was one of the best. The hotel was clean and modern. My room was nicely appointed with a rain shower and nice view. My only issue was the coffee machine (i couldn't get it to dispense a full cup of coffee) and the bed (sat low to the ground and no box spring). The food was delicious and the staff very helpful. Outside the hotel was different- a lot of homeless/ drug people. Someone from our group saw a person OD behind the hotel (very sad). read more

My first time checking out the bar, located in the hotel lobby. We sat at the bar and were well taken care of by the excellent bartender. So didn't experience any long waits for our drinks, as previous reviews. Cocktails are between $12-20, but price shouldn't matter,as you come here for having some nice sipping cocktails and enjoy the ambience. Our bartender was awesome, as he made recommendations, as well as offered an off the menu drink. Yes, you can ask them for some off the menu cocktails, they will even accommodate you if want your drink made a certain way. Nothing but great and friendly service. This is a great place to go before dinner at Braven, before or after events at Rogers or just to chill with a drink. There aren't many tables here, so I can see it getting very full, the only downside. Would definitely come back again. read more

Brand new hotel in Edmonton open less than a month at the time of writing. Located right beside the new Rogers arena, very convenient. Plenty of food options closeby including Kindred lounge in the lobby, Cacao 70, across the street, pedway to tim hortons, booster juice, Boston Pizza and Subway, short walk to the Creperie and Old Spaghetti factory. The staff at the hotel had immaculate hospitality. We were greeted with smiles and courtesy throughout our visit, even when we arrived back after a rainy walk dripping wet. Our room was nice. Not large by Edmonton standards but definitely adequate. Toilet and shower in private cubicles, small fridge, safe.... Several lighting options for the bathroom that aren't particularly intuitive, so I recommend figuring lighting out before you're busting for the toilet. Partial removable wall between bathroom vanity and bedroom.... So you could open the floor plan up (but why??) Pool and hot tub were lovely. Small steam room in locker rooms. Lovely facility. Large workout room and spa but we didn't have time to experience these. Definitely recommend for a luxury hotel experience. read more

So far I've only been to the lobby bar but the service was great and the drinks were tasty. There isn't a place like this in Edmonton--until now. I predict it's going to be very popular! This is a beautiful new hotel in Edmonton's ICE District downtown. I attended one of the first ever events in the Jari Kurri ballroom and the Wayne Gretzky ballroom. The food quality here for this event was quite stellar. The staff provided great customer service at the bars they operated, the food service locations they operated and more within the event. I also inquired about where these ballrooms were located in the hotel by asking at the front desk and the staff here were great as well. As the hotel is new, it is all well-maintained and in good shape. That said, I was surprised that the door to the women's washroom on the third floor was ajar throughout the evening. Still all in all I think this hotel is pretty great and look forward to attending other events here in the future. read more

I just left with an open mind that not all Canadians in downtown Edmonton are racist against Asians ( I just just had a bad racism experience with an uber driver on my way to JW Marriott...this is the first out of 8 rides in Edmonton). Love the location, perfect place to come to before hockey games and events etc. Beautiful room, beautiful staff, and some interesting drink specials ... however, the service is extremely, extremely slow. Took about 17-20 minutes to be acknowledged, then another 15 minutes to get two basic drinks. Not cocktails, just pour out of the bottle drinks. Give yourself an extra hour if you plan to have a drink, and like the gentleman sitting beside us warned us, you'll be hard pressed to get two. As a Bonvoy member, I stay in a lot of Marriott's. While a longtime fan of the Marriott, my recent experience at the JW Marriott in Edmonton really exceeded my expectations. It is centrally located in the heart of downtown in the new Ice District. I had a wonderful welcome at the check-in and the service was excellent throughout my stay. The room was spectacular. Clean and well appointed. I slept great as well on the always comfortable bed. I was able to spend some time in the executive lounge. It was fantastic. It was as good or better than most airport executive lounges. The fitness room is a two level jaw dropping experience. Designated areas for cardio, as well as a Peloton studio. Huge selection of machines and free weights. I promise you will be impressed when you walk in. The hotel lobby, lounge and restaurant selection is fantastic. They make a very smooth old fashioned and the Brazen Resturant puts out house-made pasta dishes that don't disappoint. If you are in Edmonton for business, a hockey game or concert, I would highly recommend the JW Marriott. read more

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at. First off we researched our hotel stay to find a nice 5 star hotel and knew we'd spend lots to get it. Well let's just say this place is so far from even a 1 star. First off our room was disgustingly dirty which we didn't notice at check in because we had places to be we dropped our bags in the so called upgrade they gave us which we didn't understand what it was other then a city view. We came back late night and noticed how dirty the room was besides being a sardine size can room with a king bed wedged in it. Dirty walls, doors as if something got splashed or spilled and dropped down and the carpet was stained and felt dirty and tacky. The decor was old and dingy. The night stand drawer pull were gross and sticky, one nightstand had food or dried puke on the side in the crevices. The coffee machine table was dusty and there wasn't a microwave as requested. Bathroom was scummy and didn't look sanitized. I wouldn't recommend staying here for the price. I was very disappointed in the hotel and it's amenities, the spa and restaurant features didn't even make up for it as the food was disgusting and price was outrageous .... Hell's Kitchen would of shut this shit down..and holy the price was outrageou.... I will give Braven a review in more detail..on its own review panel. The price point in spa was a joke for the services. We didn't complain though because there was a $300 cancelation fee we couldn't really leave or ask to check out because of that which basically forced you to just stay there Regardless of the reason. For the price we paid though this place should of been so well maintained and clean that you should feel like royalty. Instead you are in a dive with a lavish price.
