Our company has always hosted Christmas parties at Westin. Last year I stayed overnight and while the room was decent it wasn't premium. It should be a premium Marriott hotel, but it is not! It was spacious but a bit smelly from the plumbing. The only redeeming feature was the floor level go better view, thanks to my Bonovy membership. Overall, it wasn't a premium experience. The banquet food was just okay, certainly better than Delta's. However, the venue was cramped and the low ceilings made us feel squeezed in. There was also no privacy; strangers could easily walk in and around on the first floor. For companies hosting events, you should consider the attendances and take extra steps to ensure privacy. The University of Alabama really loves this venue which is ridiculous. I won't be attending any of their events anymore. And I had to pay 27$ for parking!!!!!! read more

Great rooms, service and location. Truly exemplary. Given the reviews I booked here with a good bit of trepidation. But the location was perfect and the price was right (comparable to the Courtyard and much less than the JW). But it turned out that we were blown away by how nice the Westin was. The rooms were wonderful with a Westin bed, ample storage and a luxurious bath/shower. The staff was warm and efficient and there was coffee/tea every morning. We had complimentary breakfast and while our first one suffered from some things that had been left to cool in the buffet thereafter we ordered a range of very tasty items from the menu. And the pool and gym were 24/7 - a welcome change from most hotels in the US. All in all we had a wonderful stay. read more

Top end hotel in downtown Edmonton. Upon arrival, just when you walk in that fragrance and smell of luxury hotel awakens your senses. I was immediately greeted by the staff at the front desk with a smile. After checking in, I went up to the room dropped off my luggage and headed to the bar called Share. It was a weekday afternoon and things were quiet and slow. I decided to dine at the bar and ordered the Cured Salmon, which was delicious. The price matched the quality of the dish, staff was friendly, and attentive. After the meal, I headed out and strolled around downtown which the hotel is conveniently and centrally located near the mall and park. To get around, I would recommend renting a scooter, but, if the scooters are limited in where you can ride so be prepared to have it constantly slow to a crawl. read more

I don't know why the rating is so low. The bedding is so comfy, the rooms clean, and staff are so nice! We didn't have any issues staying here. The location isn't great for tourists, the area is sketch at night. I'm not sure where in Edmonton would be good for tourists, it's so spread out. Definitely not walkable. Anyway, we checked out the pool but didn't use it. The gym has free weights, a good number of treads. If I came back to Edmonton I'd stay here again. read more

Nice hotel in downtown Edmonton with friendly staff, very clean and welcoming. Coffee and tea is offered in the lobby every day till 10am as well as the complimentary coffee service in the bedrooms. There is one restaurant in the hotel and the service is excellent! My brother and I were not too hungry and shared a breakfast and they were accommodating. A full bar is available and good food for dinner. The location is great, a Ruth Chris restaurant is just outside the door. There is a gym and bottled water and towels are offered at the front desk! Guest key cards are required for the elevators, making this hotel more secured for the guests. Highly recommended! read more

I'm surprised about the low rating. We had a pretty great experience here over 2 nights. There was almost always a smiling employee there to open the front doors for us. The front desk was very helpful and efficient. The rooms were fairly modern and clean. Our view was not great--it was across from the pool and gym area. I thought that was weird because they told me the room was upgraded because of my status with Marriott. They have a nice lobby/common area where we did hang out for a bit. Water and coffee were provided for all in that area. We had breakfast at their restaurant both mornings because it was included. It was a continental style breakfast along with an omelette station. Overall the stay was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was good and the juices they make were delicious. The only two issues I had were when I was getting food in the restaurant and the location. The servers were very slow and disappeared for long periods of time. The location is downtown so you will have all the homeless people in the area. There was way more than I thought there would be. I was informed by several locals that it is not safe to walk around by yourself at night and I can see why. Otherwise it was good stay. read more

It seems I've been here a lot lately for a hotel that I've never actually spent the night at. But it's a good hotel for special events and is really centrally located. I've enjoyed food here on numerous occasions (and have upcoming reservations at the Share restaurant here) and have recently purchased a Christmas Cake from here (they recently did a fundraiser for the Edmonton Food Bank by selling Christmas Cakes). I've also attended some great special events here in the conference center and while the hotel has some more dated/old parts, in general it is pretty awesome. Staff here have always been really helpful, I have found and it being part of the Marriott family generally means that it has a certain quality level. I just finished a three day stay at the Edmonton Westin and really can't say one thing negative about it. My room ($169 per night plus about $16 in taxes) was very good on all counts -big roomy sleeping room, nice comfy bed, nice flat-screen tv, excellent WIFI, a good sized bathroom with a shower that got high marks on pressure and temperature. The suite my group had on the 20th floor was very large, with plenty of tables and chairs and a gorgeous view of the surrounding scenery. The conference room we used on the mezzanine level worked very well and had an impressive looking conference table and plenty of chairs. The front end staff, restaurant servers, and bartenders were perfection - all smiling, courteous, and helpful. The business center worked flawlessly -printing my boarding pass was never easier. The hotel food was really good- I had a breakfast, a lunch, and a dinner here and I enjoyed every meal. And best of all, we saw Wayne Gretzky having his breakfast here one morning! I was honestly very surprised. I know the Westin is a very well-known chain, but the outside of this building just seems so brown and unwelcoming. When you enter, there is an awesome lobby area that is very clean and spacious. The staff is helpful/friendly. I tried a few of their appetizers in the lobby bar. My favourite was the smoked salmon and capers/veggie and Boursin on a toasted bread it was awesome. I was actually here for a conference. It was great. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming! Definitely more than I was expecting! read more

This was the WORST dining and service experience of my life and an absolute rip off. The Westin should be ashamed. I'm gobsmacked. I booked the New Year's Day brunch for my family thinking it would be a high end breakfast buffet @ $60 a head, and I have never been so disappointed or embarrassed. We were sat in the lobby/sports bar. The feeling of chaos was immediate. (It felt like a Denny's) Offered coffee which took 20 minutes to come and then no cream or spoons. Juice and water took another 15minutes after that and only half received so we gave up on beverages. All Food in buffet was ice cold and of Tim hortons/free hotel breakfast quality. No pancakes waffles or French toast. The roast beef was dry and being sawed at next to the bathrooms. Once we finally decided what fast food garbage to put on our pitiful plates, sat back down to no cutlery at the table. No cutlery at the buffet. Had to ask 4 different staff for cutlery which took 15minutes to eventually come. Many other tables sat staring at their plates of sadness with no cutlery to eat it with also. Total bill for 6 ppl to eat Tim hortons food in a lobby: $450. (As they had the audacity to charge an automatic 20% gratuity For the STELLAR service we did not receive) read more

I stayed at the Westin in Edmonton for 3 nights -- July 1st to 4th. I booked the room on Priceline and got a standard room for less than $100 per night (plus taxes and fees). I was very happy with the room. It was a good size and had all the amenities I could need. The bathroom was nice and big and had plenty of towels. And the hairdryer (which I didn't end up using) was a real one that wasn't attached to the wall! I was on the 16th floor, so I had a very neat view to the east, where I could see the river. The folks at the front desk and at the front door were all extremely nice and polite, I was very impressed. And they served drinks in the lobby throughout the day. I tried the Honey and Passionfruit Iced Tea one day. There was only one thing I didn't like. I ordered dinner via Skip the Dishes one night and had to go to the lobby to pick it up. The hotel doesn't allow delivery folks up to the guest floors. While I don't mind that they restrict who can get to a guest floor, I wish the hotel themselves would have at least offered to bring my order up to my room. One thing to watch out for is the ongoing construction both inside and outside the hotel. The Westin is right across the street from the main branch of the Edmonton Public Library, which is currently undergoing a multi-year renovation. Several streets are closed and there can be a lot of noise. Plus the hotel themselves is doing some renovations inside, which can be loud if you're in the lobby. In general, noise doesn't bother me, so I didn't care. But if you were on a lower floor and don't sleep well, it could have caused problems. read more

This is one of the harder reviews I have ever had to write. Simply because, where it was good -- it was ssssssoooooo good. Where it was bad, it was soooooo bad! The Good -------------- The rooms was awesome! It was large, clean, modern and cozy. The bed was incredible. There was enough coffee (that's a big one for me!) and the front desk staff were friendly. The check in process was awesome, considering how busy it was (we arrived dinnertime on Saturday, and there was also a Christmas party going on, so as you can imagine, check-in, and the lobby in general was a gong show). The front desk kept things moving. The Bad ------------ The parking valet situation was bad enough to have me downgrade my whole experience by two stars. When you pull into the Westin, first off, the parking lot is one way - two lanes. When I first pulled in and it was a complete gong show, I wrote it off to the fact, or possibility, that it was simply a train wreck because of the Christmas Party that was happening at the same time. Wrong. We came and went in our vehicle twice on Saturday evening, and then once the next morning, and it was always the same. The parking lot is simply not big enough, or set up in a way that people can pull over to pick up/drop off someone quickly, or that the bell staff can unload cars, or....lets not even talk about the Valet. The valet was an absolute disaster. Every time. It appeared that the valet was either severely understaffed, or were simply in training. When they went to get our vehicles, they appeared to be going into a public parkade across the street. We were told to call 15 minutes ahead to get the car. The first night when we called for valet it took 35 minutes. At the 25 minute mark, I went up to the desk and asked if everything was okay. The staff member told me that there was a big lineup to get out of the parking lot, so my car was stuck in the lineup. Nobody's fault. I started to walk away, when one of the staff came up to the same guy I was talking to, and my KEYS were in his hand!! Then he ran across the street into the pubilc parkade. So dude #1 obviously lied to me. Miraculously, 5 minutes later.... my car shows up. When we got back to the hotel around midnight - NOBODY was at the desk. We stood there like a pair of chumps waiting. We eventually went to the hotel's front desk and told them that nobody was at the valet desk at all. They took my keys. Next morning, we called the valet before we left the room. Same deal. Late. Apologies. This hotel is awesome in so many ways, but the parking/valet situation was so incredibly frustrating, that I would seriously consider making my own parking arrangements next time, by parking across the street in the public parking, and getting my vehicle myself. When I come to Edmonton on business, I either stay here or in Sherwood Park. This is a nice Westin, with large comfortable rooms, flat screen TVs, good internet services, and a nice lounge downstairs. I'd give this place 4 stars, if it wasn't for it's location. In fairness, downtown Edmonton has come a long way, but it's still a little rough in spots. I end up taking long walks to various places including: Alberta Crafts Council, Aubrey's books, the downtown mall, Tim Horton's, the Hotel MacDonald, and down into the Saskatchewan River Valley. As far as nice places to eat and interesting attractions, a cab ride is still necessary. read more

I recently attended 2 events at The Westin; a luncheon and an evening community event. The room looked lovely with enough room for people to walk between tables and chairs without others having to squish in against the table. The servers were all polite and efficient at bringing and removing plates timely and there was a smooth transition from salad to entree. The dessert was placed on the table before everyone was seated but it wasn't too warm and still enjoyable. The evening event was nice as well but there weren't enough chairs for all the guests and the staff were bringing more in. It would have been better if they did they earlier if they noticed people standing but at least they did try to ensure people had a seat. Past events I've attended here have always been a good meal and the layout of the rooms are usually fine. Sometimes if you are sitting in the back or away from the stage it can be difficult to see everything. If I were planning a special event, I would consider this hotel as the venue. read more

We checked in to the hotel and right from the start the front end staff made my husband and I feel like an inconvenience. We checked into our room and the mirror and bed and most of the furnishings were crooked (minor but paying over $350 plus parking a night for a hotel room you would expect it to be nice) the hotel room felt unfinished, empty and cold. The mattress is very uncomfortable in the "upgraded king room" and the pillows felt like they had been around since 1994. We then decided to order room service around 10:45 pm and had the rudest hotel experience of my life. The man on the phone said we could not order the burger as it was" not on the late-night menu". I asked why the hotel menu said it stops at 11 pm and then I heard a huge huff and a "well that's how it works" those items stop being served at 11 pm. I then said well it is not 11. The gentleman again huffed and very snarky said he would make an exception, but his tone and attitude were completely unacceptable and unprofessional. The room service showed up but only half of what we order (the fries were missing and my salad was supposed to be a large but I didn't want to talk to the rude staff person again as we were trying to enjoy our one night escape) We checked out about 10 am the next day and the front desk manager asked how our stay was. So we were honest and told him about the ordeal the night before. Again there was not an apology and I had to ask if we could have our money back from the room service order, again the staff was rude and unprofessional and said that he would have to confirm this with the catering manager? Then a few days later I was wondering if they did reverse the $47.00 in-room dining charge and called the hotel manager, she said she would look into it and call or email me back. 3 days go buy an I called again to find out what was happing as no one had called or emailed me. I spoke to a different manager who offered me a free "upgrade" at the hotel next time we stay there. I told her we and or any of my family will not stay there again. I regret to give this hotel only 2 stars because I think they tried very hard to provide good service. Unfortunately however, it was one the least comfortable hotel stays I've had in the last couple years. I've had a lot of hotel stays--easily over 20 per year continuously--so I know a good hotel room from a bad one. I have been observing a general trend, having stayed at Westins in several cities now, that Westin hotels in Canada are simply not as nice as they are in the U.S. The room was absolutely freezing- they were unable to fix the hot air. I was told the hotel was fully booked and could not switch rooms. I had the thermostat turned up to its maximum, 26.8C. The thermostat ridiculously said the room temperature was 20C, when it could not have been higher than 18C: was wearing a sweatshirt over my shirt inside the room, and still shivering. Maintenance came by twice. After the first time, they told the front desk they had fixed the air, but it was still blowing *ice cold* into the room. After coming by a second time and conceding that the air heater was not working, all they eventually could eventually do was close the grating where the cold air was blowing from (they needed a screw driver to do this, so I couldn't have done that myself; I've uploaded a picture of the mouldy grate). After several hours the room slowly warmed up to about 20C--not a comfortable temperature regardless. Water from the shower and sink was *ice cold*- this was not remedied by running the water for over 10 minutes. After calling the front desk, they fixed this, maybe by flushing the pipes, and the water warmed up. Even with this problem fixed, it was impossible to get any stable temperature control on shower water - the water would fluctuate from ice cold to scalding hot, to merciful periods of luke-warm. Same problem with the sink: unable to get a stable temperature. As another discomforting touch, the room oddly had a large water stain running across the ceiling (uploaded a picture). Didn't improve the ambience, but I suppose it normalized my expectations for the quality I could expect during my stay. On the positive side: Service was very good; I got the impression they tried hard to make up for the deficiencies of the hotel. They delivered a refrigerator and humidifier to the room. This used to be the it place for hotels in Edmonton. Stayed there on my honeyMoon. Frequently stayed there when it wasn't so old and run down. Parking is dreadful. Plus they took away the highball glasses I'm the rooms. For what they charge they should supply glass. Old and tired. Only thing great is the view to the south across the river. read more

Last night after watching the crashed ice event the four of us came back to the hotel for food and drinks. We stood at the front of the lounge/restaurant waiting for a hostess to acknowledge us, no one did. Finally a spot became available at the bar so we went there. When a table became available we jumped at it. We thought "well now that we're at a table we'll get service" how wrong we were. After at least an hour of sitting there with not even a nod from a waiter we FINALLY got some service. We realize there was a big event in town but then why not have more servers? There was two servers that we saw. Not impressed. Then the server said "should only be 20 min for your food" another hour later and we were finally able to eat. Good thing we ordered two drinks each when we ordered food because we saw the server a total of 3 times. I recommend to order room service if you want any food or drink. It may be expensive but at least you won't go hungry! ALSO there is no hot tub... Pool and sauna only. I probably won't stay here again until they get a got tub! read more

I had a nice stay at the Westin Edmonton. The staff was really fantastic - one morning I ordered room service and rushed through the receipt (they always seem to show up when I'm in the shower!), the lady actually came back to my room and pointed out that gratuity was already included - "would you like me to simply cross the tip out sir?" Awesome. My last morning I woke up at 5:30AM with a bit of a hangover and proceeded to slam the only bottle of water in the room - I called down looking for gatoraid, water, another martini, anything really... someone ran up with 2 more complementary bottles of CHILLED water! Fantastic!! Finally, I have this habit of checking everything before I leave so I don't forget anything - I opened the minibar and was perplexed to see a little dish of fruit wrapped in cellophane... Then I remembered my eggs benedict from earlier in the week had a dish of fruit that I didn't touch - turns out housekeeping removed the tray, wrapped the dish and left it in the fridge for me to enjoy later!! Very nice touch!! The Westin Calgary prefers to leave plates of food in various states of decay all over my room. As far as location goes, I really didn't care for downtown Edmonton, I can't think of another city where I've been hit up for cigarettes and change so many times. Most places close around 6pm so there is very little to do, the Mall is open later on Thursdays though. LOCATION 5* Only a couple blocks away from the Winspear and everything has underground walkways connected if the weather is too cold. Felt very safe walking around here w/ my Mom. Very close to a couple shopping malls, cafes, etc. WATER PRESSURE 5* Two shower heads but you can opt to use only one of them. Even with both turned on, shower pressure was great. BEDS 5* Not too hard, not too soft, juuust right. And no disgusting dark colored top sheet. TOWELS & TOILETRIES 2.75* Toiletries were Westin branded White Tea. Meh. Towels were rough and not very thick. Toilet paper was not nice. ROOM SIZE/LAYOUT 4* Not a huge room but comfortably-sized for two people. Liked the benches at the end of each bed for luggage etc. FURNISHINGS 3* Most of the furniture looked very nice altho not in best condition. Ex. One of desk chairs had a rip in the seat and many things looked well worn. FITNESS CENTER/POOL 3* Open 24 hrs Pool was kept pretty warm. Not too big but big enough. No hot tub. Handful of cardio machines, kettle bells, free weights, bosu ball, etc. NICE TOUCHES Ipads on the walls downstairs w/limited functionalities but you can check in to your flight, browse Urban Spoon, etc. Didn't discover them until I was checking out tho :( Starbucks in the morning, delicious lime-basil tea in the afternoons! Oh, Edmonton. I am really starting to develop a love affair with you. This time around, I stayed at the Westin Edmonton for work, and what a great choice it was! First, let's talk about the rooms. The rooms were fantastic. They live up to the Westin name. I can't say that there was anything wrong with the rooms. The views were great. I could even see the Sherlock Holmes pub from my room which was where I was supposed to meet a friend for a drink. I thought it would have been funny to wait till I saw her walk to the pub before I left my room... why didn't I? The beds were comfy, the water pressure on the shower was perfect. Everything was pretty peachy. During my one night stay, I didn't get more than two hours of sleep because I was busy checking out the 24hr pool, sauna and fitness area. It is so helpful to have 24hr fitness facilities for people like me who seem to be more productive when the sun is down. I especially appreciate the salt water pool instead of the heavily chlorinated pools you would find in other hotels. We also booked a meeting room for an event we were hosting that evening. The staff was very attentive, and they were able to customize our food order so that we could have an "all red" theme in spirit of our institution's colours. Don't worry, it was all done quite tastefully. I highly recommend the Westin Edmonton for anyone doing business in Edmonton. Their standards are high, and the hotel in general (rooms, business centre, amenities, fitness facilities, meeting rooms, etc.) caters perfectly to the business traveller. I only have a few complaints that brings this review down to a four star: a) no free WiFi. Come on, Westin. You can do better than that. b) cheap irons that don't double as a steamer. Sure, it can generate steam, but it doesn't propel enough steam to get the wrinkles out of my silk garments. Not impressed. read more

I truly do not appreciate the shady, underhand business practice I experienced today. Going on the Westin Hotel website, booking my reservation ( am here as an evacuee from the Fort McMurray wildfires) being told I was getting a rate of $182/night, with high speed internet in a pet friendly hotel. I had to pre-pay everything in advance for this rate. So with each day completely uncertain and unknowable, I booked and paid for 3 nights. When I got to the desk, they confirmed my credit card (which had already been charged) and talked me into booking two extra days "since they are so completely booked next week with this evacuation". So they added these days on, then and only then did she tell me of the additional $58 + tax per day for parking. $182 + tax is reasonable. Having this bumped to $240 per day after they had already charged me a non-refundable fee is absurd and inexcusable. Additional fees should have been disclosed up front. Not told to you that the agreed upon price was 32% lower than what you are actually going to be charged. As for the free advertised Internet? $9.95/day. read more

Been here several times now for conference functions and have always been really impressed by the suitability of the Westin for hosting mid-sized events. Generally your typical Hotel, I've never stayed in any of the rooms but I can comment on the conference rooms and second floor meeting spaces, both areas which are comfortable and appropriately secluded from the general flow of people who are checking into or out of their rooms. There is a small cafeteria near the front entrance with an open concept design and full bar. If the food I experienced is any indication the menu is likely top notch. Staff were all pleasant and with the exception of meal servers where mostly out of sight and mind. There is usually at least a single cab waiting in the front which the valet should help you into, in addition the hotels central location in the city makes it relatively easy to travel to and from. The food was delicious and cooked very well. Someone at my table made a special dietary request and had her food delivered basically coinciding with everyone else's regular meal. There was only a single complaint from lunch which was actually someone who was at a larger event earlier in the week and had been served steak so well done that the chicken we were eating seemed unexciting! Make no mistake this is a premier location and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a 4-star rating. I asked one of the guest services agents and was told that the only rooms open would be selling for around $360. read more

Traveled here on business for hubby and I got us a great rate for the room at $90 on Priceline.com - this room was advertised as $250 - right downtown. (I try not to pay full price for anything) The Westin is one of our fave chains due to the heavenly beds and showers. Pulled up, Valet is $30, only 4 more dollars than self-park so we opted to let them take our rental. The bellman taking our bags patiently waited for us to check in before helping us up to floor 20. We asked for an upgrade being a Sunday night and it not too busy. Is going to the top floor an upgrade? I dunno. Got to the room and it was way smaller than other Westins I have been in but very clean nonetheless. I hate when only one person can fit in the washroom (teeth-brushing! lol) but we were satisfied here. It was quiet and had a decent sleep despite waking up for some reason every hour wondering where we were, lol. BOTH of us! The mattress, sheets and pillows are the best. We were told that Edmonton itself shuts down at night and after 8pm, forget about going out to dinner so room service was our choice of meal. OK people. I am not cheap but 2 burgers, NO extras and just glasses of water = $55? Not my first rodeo as far as room service is concerned as I have stayed a lot of places for work but you cannot help feeling robbed for that. It would have been $120 had we chosen the steaks! Unreal. And the burgers were OK, not great, but OK. Had to discuss an accidental double billing for internet at check out but overall we were satisfied with the stay. Everyone helping us was professional, friendly and polite. We did not try the pool - we wanted to hop in the hottub last night but there is none here. TIP - no concierge service on Sundays. TIP 2 - the Starbucks coffee in the room is very good. Ask for extra at check-in if you drink coffee and need more than 1 to really wake up. TIP 3 - when you walk in you can refresh your hands/face with hot towels under a dome off to the side at check-in. Nice touch. You can also have a free bottle of water if you ask for one. The front end staff are always good to us, Luke was amazing and even made sure we get free breakfast in the morning. We are here for the realtors ball, it's a beautiful event recognizing outstanding professionals within the industry. Framing my review in the appropriate context you should know that I paid $99 dollars for my stay at the Westin through priceline.com. For that price the Westin is an extraordinary deal. The beds are very comfortable. The location is perfect and in the heart of downtown. The service is simply impeccable. Felt like a million bucks after a great sleep the next day. Also had a great workout in the workout facility though two of the cardio machines were out of order. One of the criticism of my stay at the Westin is the parking. They charge $26 for parking. $30 for valet. That's a lot! I took the valet service. Make sure you call ahead before getting your car. It can take 10 minutes for them to fetch said car. Also, the shower did not have conditioner, but I called the front desk and they got it to me right away. Despite these little things, though parking is a little bigger than a little, I really liked the Westin. Pretty standard Westin. Which isn't a bad thing. Location isn't that bad, depending on what you're doing. It feels pretty safe to walk around, not unlike any other major metro area in the US. Some dritfter-looking homeless guys and crack addicts, but nothing major. Service at this hotel was disappointing. I expect only 2 things from my hotel experience. My room must be clean and everything they put in my room must work. Something was broken...gave the front desk notice and three days to resolve the issue...and nothing. Stayed here for a event on a group rate ($159/nt + $30 extra person charge if more than 2 people). The hotel was adequate and staff friendly but a few things were sub-standard: 1) Upon check-in we were informed that the air conditioning was not working and they were working on it. Stayed 3 nights and it was not repaired the entire time we were there (!!). The proper thing to do would have been to call all reserved guests in advance to advise of the situation. This lack of disclosure until check-in has severely damaged my trust in the Westin brand. They obviously care more about profits than their brand and customer experience. 2) Bedspread in room (which is the sheet slip-cover type that is supposed to be washed/replaced between guests) had make-up stains on it. Either it wasn't washed or it was inadequately washed and their cleaning staff have poor attention to detail. 3) Hallways are extremely dated, walls are extremely scuffed and scraped. The hallways desperately need a renovation and clean-up. 4) Parking - the underground parkade fills up (despite issuing you a $26/day parking pass) and so does the overflow parking. Thankfully they have other "overflow" lots nearby but these require another visit to the front desk to request a different parking pass for these lots. Pretty inconvenient when we were in a hurry to return to the hotel for an event and it took 45 minutes to arrange for parking when we had already been issued a parking pass... They should consider only issuing the number of parking passes for available parking spaces in each lot. Staff overall were very pleasant and friendly and the lobby and convention areas were well appointed and clean. The surrounding area is a typical big city downtown area (many shady characters sleeping/urinating/smoking/etc nearby). I imagine there are better places to stay in Edmonton where parking is less of a hassle and the surrounding area is nicer. read more

Spent fours days at this property last week. Have to agree with many of the reviews here, fairly disappointing for a Westin property. Nothing tragic but a number of small things that when taken collectively made for a mediocre stay. Definitely dated decor, WiFi that was temperamental, cable TV that had audio issue and the $25.00 breakfast didn't help. Generally disinterested door staff was certainly different then any Westin I've stayed in previously. Ended with errors on the final bill that were to their credit corrected. Overall a fairly lacklustre performance from a higher end property. Options are limited so not sure what to recommend when in downtown Edmonton. You probably won't regret this choice but you won't remember it either. read more

Even though I live in the Edmonton area, I have had the privilege to stay at the Westin hotel on several occasions. I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment. The guest rooms are a generous size, the beds are always comfortable, you get as many pillows as you could want, and there are extra blankets in the closet. I appreciate the robes, towels, and the iron (collared shirts always get wrinkled, even when they travel for 20 min). The one top floor suite I have stayed in felt luxurious and was exceptionally spacious (it even came with extra towels). I especially appreciate the high standard of cleanliness, I would even go as far to say their rooms are the cleanest that I have seen from a hotel. The employees are wonderful. One time, when I wasn't even a guest of the hotel, I was parked in the lot on the north side of the building and between the time I parked and returned to my car it snowed lots - so much so that I couldn't get my car out. After 30 minutes of struggling, a valet saw me and brought out a shovel to help dig my wheels out. I could not have been more grateful as the snow was still pouring down from the sky and I wasn't sure I was ever getting out. The conference center can accommodate any group for any set up - if you want it, the Westin can make it happen. Most recently, I attended a wedding reception held in the Alberta, Yukon, and British Columbia rooms together. The set up was expected and the food was mediocre. Typical plated dinner - a little overcooked and salty for my taste. But that didn't stop us from dancing the night away. When in Edmonton for a business or vacation, I highly encourage a stay at the Westin. read more

Multi billion dollar company and they don't have fitted sheets on the bed but use a flat she tucked under. Many higher end hotels do this same thing. Why!! This doesn't stay tucked in never!! Friendly staff though. Never ate in restyle used any other service, just a sleeping day room. read more

Parking is cramped here. I ended up parking across the street at the Library Pakade for $5/weekend night. I was attending my cousin's wedding upstairs in one of their large conference rooms. Comfortably held over 200 attendees. Food was fabulous. Equipment, projectors, screens, microphones all worked well. Servers were courteous and accommodating. I snuck out in between courses to walk around downtown. The hotel is conveniently close to Churchill Plaza, City Hall, and the Art Gallery. Nice spot for a late night stroll. read more

The quality of the main restaurant menu has declined since chef Brown has left. Today with great anticipation I ordered a Cobb salad thinking that I would get 5 star quality service however much to my dissappointment I had a salad that was of common quality. The bacon bits were not homemade and the cubed chicken tasted like it had been frozen and thawed.....Mr. Brown I definitely miss you quality cuisine Your replacement is not as great as you were as a chef. I used to go and have the Ahi Tuna dish, however this is no longer part of the menu. I am greatly sad that this change was made. read more

The Westin is a fairly posh establishment. The rooms a re well appointed and the beds can't be beat in terms of comfort. However all this "poshness" comes at a price. I've stayed here a number of times and while it is a nice property there are things that prevent me from giving it a four or five star rating. Hotel entrance. Although the inside lobby area is quite spacious. The loading zone for the hotel is usually quite crowded and situated awkwardly. Also because it is a fairly popular destination it seems to be clogged up by taxis constantly waiting for fares. The last time I stayed in the hotel, i noticed that the bathrooms were not up to par as some of the plumbing was not functioning correctly. These are pretty minor things but not what I would expect from this chain. Another annoyance was the lack of complimentary wifi. I would expect that a hotel like this would have something like this as standard but to be charged an extra 10.00 per night was out of line. If you want to splurge a little than the Westin might be the place for you. Sometimes, the Westin does have some great rates on their weekend stays which makes up for the minor annoyances above. Have lucked a couple of times with getting a 99.00 rate on occasion. For hotel in this location it was a pretty good deal I thought. If you can get better rate for the same property let me know. read more

Absolutely everything about this place is out dated... this isn't 1970 anymore. I stayed here after an event and I was quite disappointed. While the food was average it was expensive... so expensive. It was $40 for one order of breakfast. Seriously? The staff are friendly-ish and the suite we stayed in was spacious but the thing that irritated me most what that they double charged us for our stay and it took a week to get ahold of the person who could fix the issue. After finally getting into contact with her it took another week and a half to remove the charge from my credit card. I guess this is a decent place to stay in Edmonton, its decently affordable so long as you don't eat... but there are many hotels I would chose over this one. read more
