We stayed a total of three magical nights at West Edmonton mall : the Roman room two nights and the western room one night. I enjoyed the deals that we had received on the attractions while staying. We had a lot of luggage but they always accommodated us. The rooms are a bit dated we stayed in the winter and we found it freezing in the room. There were also a lot of parties one night and security needed to keep everyone in line. I loved the fridge and coffees just wish they had included foods or a breakfast for the price for the night. read more

While I've not personally stayed at the Fantasyland Hotel yet, I've definitely partaken in their banquet facilities, visited friends who were staying at the hotel (and their rooms) and enjoyed the food from their restaurant catering (mostly in their banquet facilities. The theme rooms are over the top and fun -- depending on the theme and exactly what you're seeking out. Perhaps one of these months I'll plan a staycation of sorts at the hotel! I like the fact that people staying at the hotel can get discounts and other perks at the attached mall attractions which can't be a bad side of staying here! I've been a fan of the attention paid by the banquet staff as well. I highly recommend this hotel for things like specialty brunches on particular holidays as this is the reason I've visited the most as of late. read more

Despite my room being extremely clean, the hotel is very outdated. The shower in my room took about 5-7 minutes to turn hot... I also had kids yelling and running down the hall at 11 p.m. at night. The staff at the desk were friendly and welcoming. I was there for business in the area; however, I don't think I would come back, unfortunately. We booked a themed room for my sister's stag and flew in from Vancouver, excited for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Unfortunately, what should have been a celebratory weekend turned into a string of issues that the Fantasyland Hotel was either unwilling or unable to resolve. We booked the Deluxe Igloo room (my sister's childhood dream!). Upon check in (we arrived late - 11pm and tired from travel) the front desk informed us that the shower didn't work at all. We were told that as a solution, they would offer us a 60% discount at the wave pool to use the public showers for the weekend (!!!) -- an unacceptable suggestion when you're paying $450/night with 4 women. Pushing back that this was not an acceptable offer, they countered with a 15% discount and immediately said it was "FIRM", no negotiations. We took the room because they assured us that maintenance would take care of it in the morning while we were out in the mall. When we checked in the next morning, they relayed that maintenance would indeed, not be able to fix the issue. We noticed that the room across from ours (also the Igloo room) was being serviced and asked if we could take that one. They moved us into this room (even though someone else had booked it - they were just swapping rooms; the new customers would have the same issue as us. Upon checking into the second Igloo room, the bathroom was infested with drain flies, covering the walls, ceiling, and mirror. It was impossible to use the space without feeling completely uncomfortable. Not to mention that only the cold water was working in that shower. One staff member showed us a few different rooms and we settled on the Sports room (never would we have booked this but we were determined to move on and have a good time. It was the only available room of comparable size.) The shower only had only hot water -- no cold. Across three rooms, we never once had a functional, hygienic bathroom. Over the course of two nights, I spent several hours dealing with front desk staff rather than enjoying the occasion. One manager, Arif, did try to help and offered a small food credit, which we appreciated, but overall the attitude from staff was dismissive, defensive, and at times borderline rude. Instead of being treated as paying guests, we were made to feel like we were inconveniencing them simply by expecting basic standards -- clean facilities and a working shower. What makes this even more disappointing is that we were not asking for anything unreasonable. A single night comped, given that we had to switch rooms repeatedly and never had a properly functioning space, felt more than fair. Instead, we were denied, given only a partial discount, and then offered "20% off a future stay" as compensation. After this experience, there will be no future stay. Fantasyland Hotel promotes itself as a destination for themed rooms and special occasions, but the reality we encountered was substandard maintenance, poor guest care, and a refusal to take real accountability when things went wrong. If you're considering this hotel for a milestone event, I would strongly caution you to look elsewhere. read more

do not stay here. management is horrible. unable to sleep in a $650 a night room because extremely loud noises coming from the walls. we booked a luxury suite room for $650 a night and were unable to sleep longer than 30 minutes without being startled by this extremly loud helicopter loud sound that soundwd like a jet plane was taking off by my head. my ears are ringing and i have a migraine from the noises comung from the wall for over 8 hours!!!! management was unfair and did not compensate us approapriatly and only initially offered us a late checkout for 2 more hours to sleep!!! i was furious because i was unable to sleep more than 30 min bc thus deafening sound would startle me and wake me up in my sleep!!!! they only wanted to give us $50 off our $650 room rate. i had to argue and complain for 3 hours in the morning being transferred over 5 times with maintenance people in and out of our room at 4am then 8 am than 10 am bc of the loud noises. we couldn't even enjoy breakfast in peace bc our phone kept ringing once and then the manager would hang up on us. we played phone tag for 3 hours in the morning instead of enjoying our room!!!! do not stay here. management obviously doesn't care about their guests and their wellbeing and locked us out of our room at 1230 even though they gave us a late checkout of 1pm!!! avoid at all costs. avoid. avoid read more

We had prepaid for a superior room for four nights, but it was not ready at check-in. Not ready two hours later. There had been a plumbing leak so we were not getting in there for a long time. Tal at front desk (deserves 10 stars) got us into a fantastic theme room for one night. The next day, the porters (deserve 10 stars) moved all our bags to a superior room while we were at Galaxyland. Our experience at Fantasy Land March 15 2025 was incredibly frustrating, especially given that we normally had positive experiences there before. The issues we faced are concerning, particularly after taking time and effort to coordinate with the reservations team and book block/group rooms for your group. There was a lack of timely communication on the hotel's part, especially with the room cancellation process. They now charge 24 hours prior to your first night stay, (The card I booked with in Oct 2024 was cancelled for fraud in Feb 2025) When they charge your card the 24 hours before if it doesn't go through, they automatically cancel the room. They didn't call to let us know, they emailed the day of at 10:17am, we were already on the highway driving the 5 hours to go there at that time. If they had reached out earlier regarding the credit card issue, it would have helped us to avoid this last-minute scramble at the check in counter when we arrived. It's unfortunate that the block booking rooms for your team were scattered across different floors, making it difficult for you to coordinate and get everyone settled efficiently. If team rooms are being booked, they should ensure they are grouped together to help with coordination and overall guest experience. As the new elevator card access only grants you access to the floor you are check in on, you have no access to other floors. Even guests who booked pet friendly rooms were not considered at check in and had late rooms by hours, having to sit in their vehicle with their pet, waiting for the rooms to be prepared. The fact that our room was cancelled without prior notice, an email 5 hours before our: "check in" was not ok. The staff seemed unprepared to handle the issue, it happened to several others in the same boat is concerning. It's clear that the management didn't show empathy or take the extra step to ensure we were satisfied, particularly considering the situation with the new card and their policy. We went through several process of aiming to secure cancelled rooms, and at the payment portion the room was already gone to someone online. Then on the third attempt we get a room, with only with bed for the family, and they wouldn't honor the block booking rate because they kept saying I canceled the room. The poor condition of our room, including the unclean toilet seat and hair on the shower walls, further highlights that the hotel may not be meeting the cleanliness standards expected. This is something that definitely needs to be addressed, especially if they're hosting large events and need to maintain a higher level of service. It's disappointing that valet service was not available to guests staying for multiple nights, particularly when it seemed like they were understaffed during a busy weekend. This could have been managed better by either extending the valet service or providing alternative parking options. It seems they have new management who care only about making $$$$ and not about the guests who in turn make them their money, really unfortunate experience. read more

I'm not a robot and the hotel isn't paying me to do this and if the hotel manager reads this I was in room 637 from 7 Jan to 10 Jan :) now last year i said i will go here one day and i checked and checked all the sites and boxing day was here so id check again and what do i find 149 rooms so i booked 3 days jan 7 to 10 awesome price and now u know that ill start the review part 1 the check in i arrived at 1130pm on the 7 and everyone was so nice got my key activated it on the app so i could keep the keys and i was set 5 stars part 2 elevator this is where i read most of the bad things are and i can say for me no problems leaving coming back always fast and the scan your card thing is amazing i like that :) 5 star part 3 the room again reviews are all over the place and hence the reason i like typing reviews u can see how much fun i had and hope this might change your mind the room wow is all i can say feels like a small apartment 2 big beds clean washrooms works hot cold water, and it smells awesome here lol :) noting bad to say about the rooms part 4 the mall i don't have small kids, so I didn't do any of the rides, but i did take a million photos and if you're by yourself u will hit 20 thousand steps easily lol so be prepared to walk a mega ton everyone in the mall is nice every store i walked into was nice just an awesome experience had by all. This hotel is surely unique. It's not like any other hotel I've stayed at. The theme rooms are super cool and fun for the family. I highly recommend booking a theme room if you're staying at this hotel. They always have some deals throughout the year so make sure to keep an eye on their website before you book to see what deals are available. We had a great rate on the room ($200/night) plus we got the sleepover package which includes attractions passes (waterpark or Galaxyland) for 50% off!! Such a great savings and a wonderful way to enjoy the attractions at the mall for a great price! You can get up to 4 discounted tickets per night you stay so we did just that. We stayed in the space room and it was a super cool room and great for families. There was a queen size bed, and 2 twin size bunk beds that were like space sleeping pods. There's also a tub and 2 TVs in the room which is super cool!! We definitely took advantage and filled the tub to watch tv. Included in the package we bought was also a discount of 25% off at L2 which is their lounge / restaurant at the hotel. Plus there are a ton of food options in the mall for you to choose from should you want something different. You can also easily skip the dishes right to your room! The rooms were clean and comfortable, great access to all the fun things to do at the mall and you can even request a little bit of a later checkout time (12 noon). What do you call a 'fantasy' hotel where $600 a night buys you a room with no internet, no cell reception, no working ceiling fan, a convenience store that closes at 6pm, and no working ceiling lights (rather than change halogen bulbs, they removed switches and installed cover plates!)? A nightmare. Right now, my fantasy is a pot of coffee, but room service won't pick up after 20 mins on hold. I also fantasized about exchanging USD to CAD at the front desk, but they wouldn't even take it AT PAR! On the plus side, the L1 lounge, the lobby centerpiece, is modern and cool. Parking is shitty. There are bathrooms next to the hotel that smell like sewer & are making the entire surrounding area smell like sewage. Requested early check-in. Tried checking in early and were told we'd be texted when the room was ready. The room wasn't ready until after 4 (the normal check-in time) No microwave in the room, thin walls, tiny bathroom, and a little dingy. Seems clean but afraid to take my shoes off. We were really looking forward to staying here but the hotel was horrible. Thin walls, small beds, no microwave, no wifi, no cell service. Second night our room had no hot water (we had paid for the jacuzzi in our room) and the whole room smelt like weed. We called the front desk and they told us to let it run for 15 minutes, no luck. We called again and it turned out that they didn't have the furnace on?!?!?! One of the workers assured us that we would have hot water in an hour, it was already 10pm and we were tired. stayed for 1 night on the 9th floor so disappointed for having a $380 room, so jacuzzi tub was dirty, towels dirty, no bathrobes, glass cups dirty, sheets had black stains on it, shower had no hot water, and found a hat beside the fridge, management will be hearing from me as the lady at the front just told us they could of switched us to a different room, but couldn't do anything as we booked through expedia. we stayed in this hotel two different nights first night was great. It was on the eighth floor in the truck room room was clean. Service was great. Had a great time. Parking services were amazing. Val is great. Skip ahead ahead. Day number two we stayed on the ninth floor in one of the Polynesian rooms, the room was not huge for a while. Factor later on we found out there is different classes of rooms you can get and in the morning I woke up with a Band-Aid stuck to my leg. When speaking to the manager, he told me he was going to give us $75 dollars off 25 of those dollars were already taken off for the package we had purchased for that stay lied to us about it right I have a tattoo that is fresh within three days if that would've been attached to my tattoo that could've been a disease factor I am not impressed with management not impressed with the if you're staying there, please check your sheets. We spent $320 on a Hollywood executive room for my 30th birthday just me and the husband to get away for the night and the condition of the room Was very poor and run down and dirty We found used handcuffs on top of the bedframe , the bed frame it's self was lose and wobbly, between the mattress and bed frame was disgusting and littered with wrappers , flower petals, food , clothes tags and more The room was thick with dust on every fixture, the bed frame was the absolute worst we brushed a hand full of dust off the top of it, the light above the bed, we were able to write a message in the shade from the dust that has accumulated on it The bathroom fan didn't work and was clogged with dust, along the bottom of the shower was black mold we had pee stains around our toilet lid and down the back of the toilet wall, The window ledges were caked with brown gunk, there was splatters of something who knows what down the wall and the bed frame, the standing lights light shade was busted also the alarm clock face was broken off and didn't work 4 of the glass tiles that go around the hot tub were smashed and shattered the hot tub tap was supper loose along with the Handles of the tub, the jets were not working when we first arrived ... There were gauges taken out of wood finishing all around the room for $300+ a night the room was very poorly taken care of and not very well cleaned We were pretty disappointed over all with the quality of the room, they did gave us 25% off the room but to be honest the grime, dust, lack of upkeep of the room. kind of ruined the experience of it all, they sent house keeping up at 10pm and then the manager came up when we told House keeping we weren't going to leave at 10:30 pm for them to clean the room again and they we're upset that we didn't call them right away when we noticed all this but in the beginning it was one or two things we noticed that were broken or dirty but then more and more things just kept coming up dirty and after we found the hand cuffs that was it we had to say something because then I was a little grossed out with how well the bed was cleaned after the last use.... it might just be my opinion but it was just not what you expect for $320 in an executive suite read more

Seeing Marissa H's review of the day today reminded me to get my butt in gear and finally review the Fantasyland Hotel. I, too, have stayed at the Fantasyland in a theme room now twice now to celebrate an anniversary with my husband. Yes, the price is higher than most at around $400 a night (but always call ahead and ask about specials - especially midweek) but both times we stayed here the night has been nothing short of perfect. Room service will deliver to the minute you request, the food is excellent at the L2 Grill (both fancy dinner service and the morning brunch buffet), and the staff are friendly and attentive. On our most recent trip, last month, I did find an error on our bill which they quickly corrected but be sure to check over your room charges before leaving. They offer a variety of packages - champagne, rose petals, movie, chocolate covered strawberries - you name it. I did find great difficulty in connecting to my cellular service in this hotel (Rogers) so I uploaded less photos than usual. The first time we came here a couple years ago, we stayed in the Igloo room and most recently in the Roman room. I wouldn't hesitate to book a room here again for a special occasion - and it certainly would not disappoint anyone looking for a romantic staycation in Edmonton. read more

Don't stay here!! The themed rooms sound exciting but they are not worth it! We took our kids there for a staycation and we were devoured by bed bugs! We stayed on the Polynesian floor but I can only imagine if they are on one floor, they are in other rooms as well. It's been 2 weeks of trying to deal with bites, laundry and fumigating to try and kill whatever we could've brought home. There has been a case opened against the hotel and the health inspector will be paying them a visit. Do yourself a favour and stay as far away from this hotel. I booked a Hollywood theme room as a surprise for hubby's birthday! I added on a Comedy Package which included 2 tickets for Rick Bronson's The Comic Strip, dinner for 2 at L2 and brunch. When we arrived at 4:30 our room wasn't ready yet, so the adorable & charming fellow at the front desk offered us a $50 credit at L1 so we could enjoy a few drinks while we waited. Really nice touch! Half way through our second drink our room was ready and the same front desk staff member delivered our room keys to us in the lounge. Another nice touch. The hotel is showing a bit of age but all in all it was still very nice! Our room had a huge comfy king sized bed with tons of fluffy pillows and a mirror on the ceiling, a stripper pole (hehehe), a tantric chair (go ahead a google it if you don't know what it is, I'll wait), a gigantic jetted tub, and in the shower there was a window that looked out into the rest of the room (we watched CNN while we were showering!). Since this was not one of the "kid" themed rooms/floors, our floor was relatively quiet. I got a really good sleep in the big comfy bed , and so did the birthday boy! Hubby LOVED his special night and we'll definitely be doing another stay & play again! read more

The issues with our rooms included: -Coloured lights did not work, maintenance was called twice and unable to fix them. -Unable to provide us with a replacement room except for a lower floor/lower quality room. -jacuzzi tub turning on randomly in the middle of the night. -No notice to us prior to check in that there was construction on our floor (we would not have stayed at this time if that was the case). -We almost got stuck in the elevator as the doors wouldn't open on one of the floors and the lights went out in another elevator. -Worst of all, the bathroom door does not close as it is off the railing, it almost fell on my girlfriend in the middle of the night but I was able to help catch it in time. -Assistant Manager (Aya) was rude, unprofessional and very unhelpful. I asked for half off our 1-night stay and she could only provide 25% off -Director of Operations, Jay Vashi, was unable to help either and did not respond to emails after escalating these issues. read more

I have wanted to stay at this hotel for the past two years but due to the pandemic, what was a Spring Break plan turned into a birthday plan, and then that became a Christmas plan a year and a half down the road. Needless to say I was really excited about going there. I picked a Polynesian Theme room because it was literally -27 outside when we stayed. If we were to pick the Igloo room I think that camping outside would be a much cheaper alternative as it's pretty much the same thing. I actually only had the pick of Polynesian or Western but I don't want to sleep in the jail cell beds on vacation in the Western room. Polynesian is a Moana theme and it is a contrast to the weather outside. I was very pleased with the decor. Each floor has a different theme . The 9th floor is Classic Polynesian and there is a volanco by the elevator and palm trees in the hallways. Being in any of the theme rooms makes you feel young again like you are in a playroom. The jacuzzi was nice because you don't have to go to the waterpark and sit in a tub with many people, it's just your family's private tub. Now onto the constructive feedback, I'd expect better wifi for $400 per night. The wifi is the mall wifi not the hotel wifi. Also, the mattress on the Queen bed was sagging, but I still got a decent sleep. The lack of sound proofing is a downer. I could hear the toddlers crying and the parents getting angry in the next room. Overall the rooms are nice but many improvements could be made for the price of the room. read more

Want the truth? Its isnt worth it. Unless you are making a full day / night of being here it is over priced. Don't get me wrong the executive rooms are nice. The theme rooms look amazing but for hundreds of $$ you need to spend time in it. We got a room because we were partying in the mall. So it was the 'smart' idea but for $300 we should have spent more time in it. If you are from out of town and have a day that you are spending at the mall this place might be perfect but in general meh. Now the hotel itself is nice, clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. I reviewed the conference services so better to write an update on the hotel. This is one our are Staycation hotels and for the past few years we have taken advantage of their Spring Special for a theme room and free breakfast/restaurant voucher. The last time we actually didn't use the breakfast the next day after our stay as we weren't hungry for the breakfast buffet so we used it another day. The previous stay we received a $100 L2 Grill voucher that we used for a celebration meal so that was great. The last room we stayed in was the Hollywood. It wasn't my favourite, as I liked the Roman and Polynesian better. But the Hollywood had cool lights you could change the colour to depending on your mood, a funky curved chair, and a pole for dancing. The jacuzzi wasn't as large as the other rooms, but still a nice feature. The rooms are becoming dated with chipped paint and worn out nooks that you can see, but minor compared to thing such as comfortable bed and bedding, clean rooms, and friendly service. They used to have a fruit infused water in the lobby but I didn't see that during our last day so must be cutting costs. If you are thinking of stay here in the Spring or Fall, look for specials they offer. read more

After our stopover in Vancouver, my partner and I decided to go to Edmonton, and hang out at the West Edmonton Mall for the rest of our short stay. Because I've made a few bad choices in regards to hotels in the past, I am no longer allowed to make decisions on them alone. So on this trip, my partner called me at work to say that reservations were made, and that we were staying at the Fantasyland Hotel which is conveniently located in the West Edmonton Mall. "What kind of name is that?" I thought to myself. So I went online to check it out, and there I saw pictures of themed rooms with igloos, palm trees, race cars, space ships and even saw one with a stripper pole. Yikes! "What the heck kind of hotel is this?!" I said to myself. Nonetheless, I didn't ask if our room had a "theme", and I was determined to make the best of our stay in whatever gaudy and cheesy room we got. So on the day we checked in, my partner turned to me and said that for $20 more per night, we could get a jacuzzi, and for $40 more per night, we could get one of those rooms with a theme. I was glad to hear that it sounded like we weren't getting either, but I reiterated with a "no" anyway. Finally, we start making our way up to our room. We get into the very well lit elevator to go up, and when the door opens, there was a volcano right there! Palm trees lined the hallways! "OMG"! I thought I said NO, to those themed rooms! But when we finally got to our room, I was elated! No palm trees, no race cars, no space ships, no igloos or stripper poles. Just a really nice, clean, normal room. The room is huge. It has 2 queen sized beds, a large flat screen TV, a computer desk, and a nice view with plenty of room to walk around in. Bottom line? Never judge a book (in this case hotel) by its name or cover. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would most definitely stay here again. read more

The hotel is obviously dated and prices are sky high for what the rooms are. My room smelt like old cigarettes but was as clean as a room from 1985 could be. I've stayed at this hotel twice. Once in the "Roman" themed room and once in the Polynesian" themed room. At first I was shocked at the prices. $400+ for one night?! You've got to be kidding me right?! Well I caved the first time and boy am I happy I did. My boyfriend and I had the most romantic and memorable night that we've had in the longest time. The jacuzzi in the room, the huge bed, the tv, the lighting, everything was just beautiful! Romantic and so great we even booked it again for our anniversary and it still lived up to our standards. I would recommend this place for a couple looking for a nice intimate time together, because this place just brought us closer. We left the next day never feeling happier, more in love and relaxed. Only downside is the cost. It's really expensive for just one night. But if it's a special occasion, take my word on it and go. You won't regret it!! read more

This is my first review, so I'll ask you all to bear with me. Last night my new wife and I as part of the wedding plan spent the evening/this morning at the fantasy land hotel following our wedding reception. I should start by saying that the staff was most accommodating, starting with a rapid check in as we showed up late in suit and wedding dress, and we were quickly ushered upstairs to our Hollywood suite. The view was impressive, and the room was interesting. With both a 2 person jacuzzi and a light up stripper pole. We fired both up immediately, and after an incredibly long day it was nice too relax in the hot water. The room itself conveyed a sense of extravagance, with wonderfully done tile work everywhere, a bed many times softer than the pillow top we have at home and a duvet that carried a satisfying weight without being uncomfortable. The front desk is very rude, pretty much accused me of lying about what one of the hotel employees had told me about check in when I called 2 make my reservation. The room also wasn't very clan AND while my husband and I were sitting in our room jacuzzi. Another couple came walking through the door.... They double booked our room !!! Blaring diesel trucks in the parkade, smokers hanging out at the air intake outside right in front of the entrance. Insanely loud polka music at the check in made it impossible to hear the front desk staff behind the plexiglass. No fitness facility access unless you agree to pay $100 if you lose a laminated paper access pass. Gym was closed anyways. The room reeked of cigarette smoke all night. I called the front desk to complain who said they would send security to investigate right away, but sleepless night with smoke be pouring into the room. Definitely zero stars for business travel. Cancelling the rest of the nights booked, do not recommend. read more

My partner and I wanted to come to Edmonton for a holiday trip, and we decided to opt for something we thought would be nice and luxurious - so we booked a weekend at Fantasyland Hotel.... not my fantasy, that's for sure. We checked in with an employee who had a very dull personality; didn't greet us, didn't smile. The wait times for the elevator were absurd - and if you're staying between floors 4-12 (which we were) you have to insert your hotel room card to press the button, which we apparently weren't on the ball about because we got sent up and down, then back up again. When we finally got to our room, we were disappointed because it wasn't the room that was depicted - we thought we were getting a beautiful spacious room with a large bed, but we got musty furniture, and a smaller round bed that my partner barely fit on because it was short. The decor was very outdated. We decided to relax in the jacuzzi before heading out to the mall which was probably the only good part of our weekend. Upon returning from the mall at about 9PM, we discovered we had very noisy neighbours that were situated in the adjoined room. They were yelling and playing music loudly. My partner and I ignored it and tried to set up our Chromecast only to find that the wifi was public, and we couldn't cast anything to it from any app. We've stayed in motels and bed and breakfasts with better services than this hotel. Around 10PM is when we noticed the smell of cigarette smoke. I'm asthmatic, so we tried to call the front desk to inform them of the smoke coming from the non-smoking room next door, but it took them a few minutes to answer. The issue wasn't resolved, as around 12 they started yelling and smoking again, so again we called front desk and waited for them to answer before complaining. The next day, we spent a lot of time outside of our room since there's nothing to do if you don't pay for it (and you'd think when we're paying $1000 for our stay, that there would be some amenities or incentives). But during the evening, we could smell drugs wafting in from the hallway. When we were checking out, we brought this up and they wanted to compensate us with the $18 breakfast buffet which featured food that tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and reheated. Very unappetizing. Paying an astronomical price for a mediocre hotel is something everyone should avoid. I highly recommend NOT staying here. If I could give 0 stars, I would. read more

Disgusting experience.. thought it would be fun to stay here as an adult after staying many times growing up.. but sadly when you get older you realize and notice things you didn't before. It's a dump! The worst part about the quality is that it does not reflect the price you are paying; it's not an average priced hotel: most people would consider it pricy even for a basic room. It needs some renovating in the common areas for sure! My room: bathroom was not properly cleaned.. under the sink/counter area, which is open, there was a tag belonging to the previous guest.. meaning housekeeping missed it and clearly didn't clean under there? What else did they not clean?! It was an immediate bad first impression. I complained to management after they texted me asking about my experience so far, and they assured me housekeeping could come and re-clean.. so they did and guess what? IT WAS STILL THERE. It was there even after the next morning cleaning even after the manager wished to have me speak my concerns to them in person rather than through their texting system. Absolutely disgusting. To "compensate" me on my negative experience, they only gave me one buffet credit for the next morning (which was disgusting and low quality that you'd find at a cheap hotel). $7 value to make up for improper cleanliness. The bathroom has a constant linger of raw sewage as if you can smell it coming from the plumbing which is discomforting. Room service was quick late at night, but it was disgusting. The Caesar salad tasted of cheap lettuce and store bought dressing. They didn't even consider moving me to a new room when I complained about the constant screaming of kids on the floor I was on; on that topic, literally no sound proof doors even considering it's main attractions generally are catered to families with kids.. Now let me mention the elevator situation... it's a super busy hotel and there are only four elevators. Trying to go down or have somewhere you need to get to? Give yourself fifteen-twenty minutes in peak hours (morning and late afternoon).... not to mention that even when the elevator is packed to extreme, unfortunately you have to continue to stop on every floor because every floor has someone waiting of course. Elevators are under-sized as well as squishy and overall awkward with mirrors on all walls. Want to avoid the rush by taking the stairs? Sorry you can't because the staircase is alarmed and only for fire/emergencies. The two stars are earned for the fact that its super convenient to be in the mall and close to everything. Also, the room sizes are spacious. Tip: give yourself a 45 minute time window to check out in the morning, there are only 5 or less front desk employees. read more

The Fantasyland hotel is part of West Edmonton Mall and since the mall is probably our biggest attraction it is great for tourists. I think the name lets you know that this isn't a regular hotel. They have tons of theme rooms here. They are all based on varying themes like Roman, Hawaiian and so on. I know a lot of people throw parties here because it's such a cool experience. Now if you don't have a wild imagination and need a regular room, they have those too. To be honest though, I don't think the theme rooms would attract me if I didn't live here. read more

I booked a luxury theme room for my birthday with my girlfriends. I'll start with the negatives: -Guy who checked us in at the desk was unfriendly. -The windows in my room were extremely dirty on the outside. It was hard to enjoy the view of the city because I could barely see anything through all the dirt. -The room had some damage. There was a hole in the headboard, and the only lamp in the room couldn't be turned on because the switch was broken. Two ceiling lights were burnt out. -My $400 room did not include anything, not even a continental breakfast. Everything costs extra, even if you get a luxury room. Very odd! -I paid extra for waterpark passes to be included in my room. I didn't end up having time to use them, so I figured I'd use them another visit (I visit Edmonton every month or so). But no, the passes are only good for 1 week. Why??? The positives: -We needed a few extra things brought to our room, and room service was very quick and responsive. -The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The jacuzzi in the room was lovely. The room was large and nice, looking past the poor maintenance of it. -The location of the hotel is perfect. It's attached to the mall so you don't need to step a foot outside to go to the parks, restaurants, shopping, or bars. There is so much to do in WEM and it's a great place to vacation or staycation. All in all, it is way overpriced. The rooms really need to be better maintained if they want their guests to feel like they matter. Also - little things count. Not including a breakfast when you are staying in one of the most expensive rooms is insulting! read more

The hotel and restaurant need to up their game. Other then the convenience of being in the mall hotel needs major up grades. Poor water pressure, busy times of the day the elevator get congested,they need a service elevator, guest parking is not monitored for guest of the hotel and restaurant need to just up their game in every aspect. There is loud music playing in the lobby which means you have to talk louder to the person your talking to, which is annoying. We stayed in the Roman theme room .The bathroom is small, only a shower no bathtub. The room has no place to open luggage or sit other than bed.The room was decorated perfectly for the theme. The jacuzzi was nice. Most likely we will not stay in this hotel again, it's to expensive to do more than once. Also its not that sound proof. I was hearing all kind of noises from next door and cleaning staff was loud. read more

I was looking for a fun hotel for a YEG staycation and Fantasyland Hotel seemed like a no brainer. It's not cheap but you are really paying for the theme. I went for the Roman room, it's ridiculous, hilarious and just fun. It has columns, a mural of a Roman scene on the wall, statue of Venus by the Jacuzzi and a round bed. Those features alone gave this an extra star, without them I think this hotel would be a 3 star. the curtains were dusty, the stool in the room looked dirty, one of the mugs was also dirty, the linens and bathroom items just didn't seem to be of 4 star quality to me. I noted in the booking that it was my husband's birthday, there was a birthday card and chocolates from the hotel left in the room for him. That was nice touch and it was over and above. We ordered the breakfast to come in the am - it was on time, and very nice. But it was standard hotel breakfast... I guess the hotel just didn't blow me away. The rooms are fun and I do want to stay in the space theme room - that looks amazing. It was great to not have to worry about carrying a winter jacket and all the gear when walking around the mall!! We got two free passes for the Water Park or Galaxyland with our stay so that was a winner! read more
