Stay was 18-20 November 2022. It has now been over 3 months trying to get management to respond. I've created several corporate complaints and told hotel management would reach out but never does which isn't surprising as couldn't get to any management while on site. Flight delayed and a long Uber from airport so it was around 1AM or so when got to check in. They did not have reservation in system even though I showed a fully paid reservation. They kept trying to get me to rebook and pay again but I refused. They kept trying to call various places and people to confirm reservation but couldn't. I finally called OTA I booked through and they confirmed it went through upon booking. They send the night audit supervisor the reservation and got sorted after over an hour. Once we finally got keys he said it must have been his fault to not input when it was sent over. There was no sincere apology, no offers of any kind to make right, nothing. Called Marriott corporate and they opened a case but no response. I've submitted online complaints several times and no response, just that hotel management would reach out. While on site, I asked to speak with manager the next morning and was told there isn't a manager. She took my information and said she would call the manager then have her call me. Nothing. Management was not on site at all during entire stay and never got a call back. If there was a sincere apology, some sort of offer, room upgrade, or anything, probably wouldn't be so upset. The blatant disregard for customer service, ignoring countless requests to speak to someone, and absolute refusal to reach out to guest requests is the worst customer experience ever. It not only ruins wanting to return stay at this property but the entire Marriott chain as a whole. You would think there would be some type of customer service and retention to sort out. Stay elsewhere. Beware. read more

Although the hotel feels a little dated, it is well maintained, clean and in a great location. We came for the romantic package which included parking, breakfast, chocolate covered strawberries and drinks. I would say it was worth the price although a newer jacuzzi in the room would have helped. The restaurant and patio may have one of the nicest views of the river valley. We enjoyed a winter morning breakfast buffet with a view of the North Saskatchewan covered with ice discs. Beautiful. If you want to stay downtown, Courtyard is a great option. read more

The front desk does not answer the phone. It would ring for 12 minutes and then you could hear someone pick up and hang up. I was once put on hold and then hung up on. It should not be that hard to get thru. i spent over 90 min trying to talk to someone. I had a small problem which I needed help with and the simple task was brushed off until I insisted. They don't really seem to care. There was no welcome when we arrived and valet treated me like i was trying to steal my own car. view is beautiful put staff ignore you even at the bar. if you want to be ignored all trip, this is the place for you! read more

Stayed here to be right next to the convention center for animethon and a great experience!! The room was spacious and comfortable and had a great view from the top floor. Every single staff member was very friendy, kind and welcoming. This is a hidden gem in the downtown area. Best views of the river valley! Amazing patio and great views inside as well. We have been twice and had great service both times. I stay at this hotel a lot for work. While it has seen better days and the interior could definitely use some updates, the location is unbeatable. The hotel is right downtown and walking distance to most of the major business sites. The rooms are to the small side, but they've always been clean and the service has been good. The views are pretty great. The hotel is located on the side of a large hill overlooking the valley beside Edmonton. I haven't tried any food from the hotel (I usually hit up a coffee shop for breakfast), but I'm told its decent. Four stars mainly because the place is run down for a downtown hotel. read more

One of the better Marriotts I've stayed at. The Courtyard is definitely well set out. The room was spacious and well furnished with a surprisingly comfortable bed and pillow. The free internet is definitely a good perk and much welcomed if you're here for work. The only annoying part of the room I was in was it was right at the level of the big spotlights outside that cast an upward light onto the building. While I've never stayed the night here, I was impressed by the lobby and found the view from the Bistro and Patio to be most wonderful on a beautiful hot summer's day. I would definitely recommend this patio as one of the better ones in Edmonton as the view is outstanding! My group received good service in the bistro along with a great view. Our server only forgot one person's drink order but otherwise bent over backward for our needs and desires even though we were only having appetizers and drinks. Well situated to access downtown Edmonton and near transit in the form of LRT and buses, this is a great location to stay if you are visiting Edmonton. read more

Love this hotel...great location, million dollar view and incredible service. Just stopped down for lunch. Ordered an ice tea...it came and unfortunately it was sweet tea. I asked if they had regular and was told no. 5 minutes later my service GE brought me a glass, that he had just brewed. Who does that!!! Just incredible. I ordered a turkey wrap and tomato soup...nice combination. The wrap was just ok.... Check in was easy and efficient. Rooms are spacious and modern. Just can't say anything negative. Had drinks and snacks on the patio here on a sunny Saturday. Great view of the river and a nice patio with flowers & lights. A beautiful downtown hotel with a beautiful view! I have stayed four times and the rooms are always extremely tidy and beautifully made up. The beds are fantastic and somehow seem to be soft yet firm at the same time. I awoke feeling very refreshed and ready to tackle my day. Another plus is that it is a very quiet hotel. I'm not sure if it's like that due to serving mostly business clientele or if there is extra sound proofing in their walls but it's nice to not have to hear other peoples televisions or conversations emanating from rooms next to yours. I felt their restaurant was a little pricey however. I ordered nacho's and they were brought to me with very small containers of salsa and sour cream and the bottom layer or chips didn't have enough toppings. They were good but not good enough for the $16.00 I paid for them. The staff were lovely people and very helpful when suggesting sights and attractions worth checking out in the downtown core. I got to take in the festival of tree's a few years back which was a pleasant surprise as I did not even know it was going on at the time. Some other nice perks include the in room coffee they provide which is oddly delicious and a great selection of t.v channels and movie options. All in all I feel the courtyard is THE place to be when staying downtown. read more

The Courtyard by Marriott Downtown doesn't have a huge bar, but it is cozy and has a nice view of the river and south side. The wine list in particular has a good selection and reasonable prices. There is also a selection of domestic and imported beers and a menu of food, mostly typical pub items. I had the fries here once and they were hand cut. A classy place for an evening out without the high price tag at some of the other hotels in the area. read more

I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in March 2012. I made reservations via Priceline's Name Your Price program and got a good deal. But unlike most of the other hotels I stayed at during my 3 week trip, parking and breakfast are not included at the Courtyard. The room was nice and clean, but small. It is nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable. But the tub didn't drain well during a shower and annoyed the heck out of me. The closet was also tiny and the doors pushed against hanging clothes when closed. As mentioned, parking is not free. There are a couple of options though. You can park yourself for over $30 a day right out front of the hotel. Or you can pay $22 and have the valet park your car for you. I opted for the valet because it's underground. However, my windshield got broken in the process. The hotel manager promised to pay for replacing my windshield. As of writing this, I've had the windshield replaced and sent the invoice to the manager, but have not received payment. Wifi is included at the hotel, but the signal was so bad in my room on the second floor that I used the LAN cable instead. The restaurant is nice, and the food was good. But they haven't designed the restaurant for the large windows they have. It was too hot in the morning when the sun was shining in. And too cold at night when the sun had gone down. On the upside, there was no service charge (other than 15% gratuities) for room service. read more

You can't deny that the hotel is in a great location and the views of the river valley are lovely. I quite enjoyed being in the dining area/lounge just for this reason. Front desk and valet service was good. My server at breakfast was halfhearted. I realize you are paying for location and a nice room, but I'd consider the price very steep for what you get. My bed was comfortable and I appreciated the desk and internet access, but I found the main room and bathroom to be a bit small, therefore crowded. The elevator was occasionally finicky and definitely had me frustrated the first time I had to use it. Continental breakfast is not included and I found the overall selection and quality to be somewhat poor for the price. They were not on the ball with replenishing food. The muffin I had was very overdone and dry. The coffee was terrible. I walked to Starbucks afterward. Room service ending at 10pm, especially for a weekend, is a little early if you ask me. I used the fitness room, which is acceptable. The TV on the treadmill I used wasn't working and intermittently flashed. I wished I could have moved the monitor and enjoyed the downtown view instead. Overall, I'd only recommend this Marriott if it's extremely convenient for you to stay here, helping you to avoid or minimize travel. Great hotel when you're staying in Edmonton. Location is great, close to all the shops and attractions (discounting the potholes ridden Thornton road of course). You get similar view as the Fairmont at about half the price, and you are working walking distance to the Fairmont if you want their view. Room was very nice and clean. Stayed twice, first time was a larger room, and the second was a smaller room- not sure what their logic was since I paid same price for same room level. Try to get higher floors if you can, and not facing the parking lot, otherwise it can get noisy with the cars and trucks. Valet parking was $25 and very efficient. Cheaper than self parking and they get our can in n out quickly. read more

My wife and I stay here quite often on our visits into Edmonton. The rooms are clean and well made up. The free wifi is a bonus and the restaurant and lounge is quite good as well. I've never had any problems with this hotel as most of the staff are quite pleasant and courteous and efficient. The rates for this motel are also reasonable on weekend stays. I wish the valet parking was complimentary but not likely to happen being in a downtown location. The views of the river are fantastic no matter what the season. Be sure to ask for the best available rates from the hotel directly as expedia or hotels.com cannot be relied upon to give you the best rates. read more

This hotel has a beautiful location and city view. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were very friendly, welcoming and informative. The lobby area was clean and very professional looking. The outside area where you park your car could use a lot of work though there are bumps and cracks everywhere on the cement ground. Our room was very clean and upkept the only complaint I have is that the bathroom door is directly behind the entrance to the room which I disliked. Another negative was that the bathroom was very small for a big room with two queen beds - you could barely fit just one person in there to wash your hands in the sink. The carpet in the room could use a good carpet shampoo and refresh. They also charge about $23 for parking which is pretty pricey since you're already paying for the hotel stay. Definitely a fan of this Courtyard. Let's start with location - pretty good location for me as far as I'm concerned as it's right down the street from my office. There are quite a few restaurants and bars within walking distance which is nice considering that it's summer time & the perfect time to visit a bar with an outside patio. The rooms are pretty nice & spacious, bathrooms are a bit small, but still nice. Ask for a room that has a river view - the view is awesome. Had to travel to Edmonton from US for a sad reason (funeral) and quickly booked room on points. When we drove up and saw the concrete bunker like exterior thought 'hmm'. However, this hotel completely won me over! Clean, large, contemporary rooms, and super attentive staff, who consistently offered kindness at a tough time. Loved the back of the hotel with the restaurant, coffee bar, lounge, and outdoor patio - so relaxing with amazing views. We felt comfortable hanging out there without feeling rushed. The hotel is located on the east end of the safer part of Jasper ave. Venture a block farther east and the area screams of sketchiness. The hotel offers Valet parking (underground) at $22 a night. Get a south facing room and you'll have a beautiful view of the river. They don't have a concierge lounge. The gym is located on the 8th floor and wierdly enough faces a parking lot. I can't understand why they wouldnt have it facing the river! It is small to moderately sized with basic equipment. There is a restaurant on the main level although I'd rather explore the varied dining options in the area. The hotel is alright although nothing really stands out. Unfortuantely I visited the holiday inn nearby and I wouldnt mind trying that out! read more

While the room view of the valley is gorgeous...the price for the quality of the stay and establishment is less than what would be expected. Food/drink prices in the hotel restaurant very high while quality is something I could have purchased in the frozen section of the grocery store. Room price and hidden fees plus forced paid/valet parking a bit surprising. We expected something a bit more upscale in quality(room included)...not just cost....for the location and the fact that we chose a Marriott. Would not recommend. read more

The hotel was gorgeous with excellent service. One side of the hotel has amazing views of the river valley. My room was fine and clean. There are small issues like the closet being too small and shallow. Also, there is no mini-safe to put yoyr valuables in. (1/1) The TV seems to have no easily accessible guide to what is on. Also, the channels change very very slowly. Poor technology. (0/1) The best parking option is by valet since the lot owned by a different company (and which appears to cost more than the $23 quoted me for the valet service). Would rather have easy access to my on car on my own time. Valet services not a perk for me. (0.5/1). The gym is the smallest I have seen relative to comparable hotels. Two elliptical, two treadmills, one bench, one fitball, a few free weights. Very poor selection. (0/1) For me, I want a clean room, easy to operate TV for when I'm done business at the end if the day, easy oarking, and a decently equipped gym. Only 1 1/2 out of 4 fr this place. read more

So, we just returned home from a great stay at the downtown Courtyard Marriott. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Our room was clean; the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but very clean. We ate breakfasts at the restaurant- the buffet was good and reasonably priced. And, they had GF toast. Which is a bonus. The location of the hotel is great- view of the river and next to Shaw Convention Centre and downtown amenities. The decor is dated, but as long as everything is clean, who really cares. The only really drawback were the elevators- one was working. Hopefully, the other will be operational soon. All in all, our stay was pleasant. read more
