This westend hotel is nice, neat, and comfortable. The location is close to a Walmart and strip mall and a short drive to West Edmonton Mall. The parking lot can get full in front of the hotel but there's also parking in the back. The staff who checked us in was friendly and the process quick. There are 2 elevators and the wait was never too long. Just outside of the elevators on the main floor is the pool area and gym. Being on the second floor, we also used the stairs and they were clean and not creepy. The room is spacious. The bathroom had ample counter space for 2 toiletry bags. There's a mini fridge and coffee area. It's too bad they didn't offer tea though and there was no sugar for the coffee which could have been missed for our room. The bed and bedding was comfortable and they give you lots of pillows. There was a sofa which is great for seating and magazines on the table. The work desk was also new and had a nice chair. The room would be great for business travelers and those on vacation and want to relax. I didn't use the pool/hot tub but it was often occupied. I used the gym on a Sunday morning and there were kids in the pool and adults in the hot tub. The gym can get a bit warm with the sun shining in the window but it's decent with an elliptical, treadmill, bike, and lots of free weights with one bench. Water in the cooler and sanitary wipes for the machines was great. The main area is nice with lots of seating and the open restaurant is convenient as there's also a Starbucks. I've had a few meals in the restaurant and the service is attentive and good food. There are conference rooms and washrooms close by too. Great option for a hotel for those looking for a place to stay in the west end! read more

Stayed here for YelpYEGStaycation partnered with Edmonton Tourism. I loved the layout of the room! The colours were fabulous. Everything felt so modern and fresh! The artwork in the rooms felt totally Fung Shui! The bathroom was spacious and had a huge armoire with iron and blow dryer tucked inside (thanks for helping me find it, Hans!). The free Wifi was easy to access and maintained connection throughout the weekend - bonus! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Edmonton. I'd been hearing good things about the Marriott Courtyard from several people, and finally decided to try staying here. It is actually pretty good! Parking is available all over, though it does get quite crowded. The staff here are remarkable and VERY professional. Some even seemed a *bit* too happy to help you. In the lobby there is a lounge area with free coffee and tea, and also a small restaurant called Aqua. The food here is decent, though you're looking at diner quality here. The rooms are very decent. What do I like in particular? - nice and new-looking interiors - power sockets everywhere, including at the bases of the lamps (at least 4 in my room) - 2 phones - one at the desk, one by your bed - fridge and bar area, as well as ice machines on each floor - nice large windows - alarm clocks can also charge Apple devices My only complaint here is that the pool is freaking tiny. My room is easily twice the size. Next time I'm in Edmonton, this would be among my top picks. Recommended. read more

We stayed here on our #yelpyegstaycation & #WildWestYEG. The entrance is huge and had an open concept. With a restaurant / Cafe to your right, I didn't try the food but they had a great drink selection. There was a lounging area with a lots of plugins as well as USB ports to charge your cell phones. And a computer/check in devoted computer for the airport. The rooms were very spacious! We had a California King sized bed, it was huge! The bed itself felt amazing, however the pillows were very airy (had a lot of fluff, but almost laid flat when you put your head on it) so I used 3 pillows at a time, but was too much, and 2 was not enough. So my neck hurt after the stay . The room were very nice! We had our own love seat and chairs (not sure if it folded out) great desk, lots of lighting, and lots of plugs. Except on my side of the bed (closest to the door) plug didn't work, as everything kept falling out. The room also had a nice little wet bar with mini fridge. The hotel had a pool with hot tub, nice bright work out room, with complimentary headphones, face towels and heated towels. Overall we had a great time there! Would definelty recommend it to anyone! read more

Really nice place! Super comfy beds too, and right near West Edmonton Mall and lots of other businesses. There's no room keeping service for a 2 night stay, but the front desk staff did mention to call the front desk should we need anything in that regard. (We didn't need to anyway, it was quite clean when we went in). There's also no hair dryer in the room. I personally don't blow dry, but thought I'd mention it as many hotel rooms do come with one. They don't do a free breakfast either, but there is a paid breakfast menu available on the main floor. Alternatively, there's Denny's and Smitty's close by. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would likely come back. read more

Hate to write this review as have enjoyed staying in this hotel for the Starbucks and convenient location. However if good wifi connection is important to you this is not the hotel for you. During my past two visits, about a week and a half apart, the wifi has not been fast enough for streaming. After about an hour on the phone with their technical team each visit no resolution. Also I always seem to be the only one having issues?! As a Marriott reward member I will be seeking out a different Marriott hotel in the future. read more

I had a great experience at this Courtyard and would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the west end. The staff were super friendly upon every interaction. Check in was a breeze and first impressions of this new and fairly contemporary hotel were great. The room was huge! I loved the orientation of the bed and the layout of the room with the couch, huge wardrobe, desk and massive bed. It was bright, clean and super comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and I loved the mirror on the back of the door - this allowed me to get up super close while I was putting on makeup! My favorite thing about the room was a toss up between the bed and the large amount of outlets everywhere. The bed was big - at least a king, if not a california king and was ultra comfortable - really drove home the point that we need a new mattress at home - this is what a bed and sleep is supposed to feel like! My feet didn't hang off the end as they do at home either. I would happily take this bed home! Plugs were everywhere - in almost every lamp, above the bar, on the desk - you didn't have to go searching for them and unplugging other things to plug in your phone charger! Speaking of a multitude of plugs (from above), this continued in the main area including the cafe on the main floor and in the lobby/business centre. As my phone runs under 50% by lunch time every day, I'm always looking for a place to plug in and there are accessible plugs in the furniture (side tables) and by the bar in the cafe as well. I loved the amenities like the mini fridge and hair blower in the room - leaving my hair blower at home meant that I could bring an extra pair of shoes in my bag. The fitness centre had moist towels and even headphones that you could use/take. The market by the front desk had everything from snacks to supplies but when they didn't have deodorant there, I asked at the front desk and they gave me a complimentary stick - now that's awesome (for both me and those around me, as mine unexpectedly ran out!). I spent some time in the business centre on one of three available computers. I also loved how they had a computer and printer for quick computer needs like printing your boarding pass - very smart! I can say I've never seen anything like it before. With all of the amenities (I haven't even mentioned the pool and hot tub, the full cafe experience with Starbucks and the meeting space), this hotel was well thought out. I love that you can hop off the elevator across the hall to the pool. Have you ever been in a hotel where you have to awkwardly walk through the lobby in your flippy floppies and bathing suit, trying to find the pool? You can't have to worry about that here as it is conveniently located. Bonus, although the hotel is fairly new, they've already won a ton of awards! This doesn't come as a surprise to me as the whole experience (stayed there for two nights) was fantastic and the customer service was spot on! read more

This hotel showed promise, but when I went in it all changed. The management was rude, often saying nasty things. I saw things I never should have by management in the back, and I was made out to be a scary person by staff and someone to be avoided. Although they promised me no orgies, they decided to anyway because well, the rich get what they want. Disappointed to say the least, at least the decor and rooms were nice. read more

This is a great hotel with very friendly staff. I found my greeting at the front desk was very welcoming. The room is cute, ours has a desk, couch and reasonable closet, bar fridge and coffee/tea station. There is Starbucks available at the restaurant, which looks very clean. I noticed a small library of books in the lounge in front of the net PCs. The overall colour scheme is bright and cheerful, with lots of warm tones of greens and oranges. Natural and man-made material accents in a neutral palate contrast the greenery installations very nicely. Their designer did a great job of tying in the main lobby, restaurant and lounge together by making subtle physical, non-visual barriers between the spaces without enclosing them from one another. That in itself is tough to do. One feels welcome to wander and check all the corners out, nothing feels exclusive or out of bounds. There is a pool and whirlpool that I plan to explore today, it's beside the fitness room on the main floor and opposite the lifts. Our room was tidied and replenished of stock, pass keys worked without fail and the blackout curtains are very effective. The whole building looks well attended, it's all fairly new still and everything is in top shape. I can't wait to visit the restaurant Aqua. Loving my stay here. Only thing I wish my room had is a built in DVD player. Other than that, it's darned near perfect. read more

Brand new Courtyard by Marriott hotel. The lobby - super nice lobby with the new Marriott "interactive" set up. There are computers downstairs for hotel guests to use, an area to print boarding passes, super comfy lounge chairs to relax & talk with friends. Aqua Restaurant in the lobby offers way more options than I've seen at the newer Courtyard hotels, plus they also offer room service (YAY)! They also serve Starbucks coffee, which is now a standard at most Marriott hotels. The room - I reserved a king room and was put on the 5th floor. My room looked virtually new, in place of a closet was a wardrobe that also served as an entertainment center for the 32 inch flat screen TV. The bed was super soft - OMG absolutely heavenly. The bathroom had granite counter tops with lots of space for me to lay out all of my junk. As usual, the Marriott staff was super friendly and accommodating. They called to make sure the room was as expected, during my stay they also checked in to make sure everything was okay. I was impressed, new hotel, awesome rooms, nice staff...not to mention that this property isn't far from the West Edmonton Mall. Marriott has impressed me...once again! read more

This was one of the most enjoyable hotels I've ever stayed at. The staff were exceedingly friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself was modern, bright, and clean. The cafe downstairs offered up select Starbucks beverages and the main lobby had not only internet access but its own loaner library. Wi-fi worked great and the complimentary tea and coffee in the room was an added bonus. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the West Edmonton area. read more

This place is A-ok to me. If it had free breakfast, this would be four stars. I stayed here for two nights in July. It's a nice hotel, comfy, clean and had a decent pool and hot tub. Cons: -1 star for this: No free breakfast. (hampton inn is across the parking lot, they have free breakfast.) There's a restaurant in the lobby, I didn't bother eating here. I'd rather go out to eat if I'm paying. Assuming you have a car, It's a bit out of the way/kinda far from the city but it's fairly easy to get to the mall from here. read more

AQUA Restaurant at the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton West Hotel is located right in the main lobby. We ordered the appetizer of fresh Prince Edward Island mussels in a delicate cream sauce,- delious! I soaked up all the cream sauce with buttered bread. After that, we devoured a mouth-watering entrée, Cajun-roasted lamb chop with baby potatoes and rosemary jus. My husband said it was the best he'd ever had. I agree. We also ordered pasta, Fetticinni carbonara with chicken fir the kids, it was also great! The kids couldn't finish the dish so I did. The ultra-modern, casual dining room had circular booths outfitted with TVs, as well as high-top communal tables at the bar so you can power up your laptop if you came in for a power lunch. The services was excellent, the waiter was very attentive. She came equipped with puzzles and crayons to occupy the kids while we enjoyed our dinner. read more

This hotel is one of the newer hotels that have been built in this area. Again, my stay was part of the Yelp Staycation experience :-) Do not be dismayed by your arrival to this area as it is still "in progress". In fact, as I was talking with my companion, given the area, it gives us a sense that the area may become "Hotel Row" vs. "Hotel Circle" in San Diego, CA which is an area off of the I-8 Freeway chockfull of hotels. In any case, back to our review. Upon entering, staff is ready to greet you on the left and on the right there is a bistro/bar area where you can order a drink, coffee and/or pastry. Ahead of you is a common area with computers for people to use freely and a small library where you can grab a book to sit and read in front of a lovely fireplace :-) The room we stayed in was well appointed and very clean. A nice surprise was the direction of our room which in the morning was full of sunshine when we woke up :-) Hopefully, this hotel will be able to maintain the sunlight around it as more buildings come in the future. My only (serious) complaint, being a woman, is the lighting in the bathroom (a bit dark) and if they would consider it, putting a magnifying mirror for us ladies so we can put on make up and for the men, to make sure they get a good, close shave for the morning or evening :-) There is a nice exercise room and a pool with a hot tub across the hall on the main floor across from the elevators. This is nice so you don't have to walk through any public areas to go and exercise or go for a swim :-) The exercise room is small, but not tiny. For you coffee drinkers who expect a Kuerig....don't. This hotel goes with the smaller, traditional hotel coffee maker (which I don't mind because I have issues with the Kuerig). Very simple in this regard, so if you need to, they serve Starbucks Coffee in the bar/bistro area (however, again, they are NOT Starbucks employees -- so no "low fat, no whip mochas" necessarily...). It is a good location and very good hotel for business people and people coming in to town to visit. read more

As a guest at a wedding in the Courtyard Marriott West Edmonton, I was incredibly impressed by the service and food. The room was gorgeous, clean, and modern. The food - a buffet - was delicious. We had the short rib, grain-fed chicken and salmon with coconut-coriander sauce, three types of salad, roasted potatoes and corn. Bread on the table was heartbreaking - so fresh! I was also happy the butter balls were not frozen. You know what I am talking about, right? The line up for prime rib was a bit long, despite the two stations. We didn't get a sample as there was more than enough selection at the buffet tables. Never did we see empty food spots in the line without a quick replacement. Staff were efficient, kept the wine poured, cleared plates quickly AND the big one - offered tea along with coffee at the beginning. I am used to waiting for tea, but not here. It was at my table within seconds of me asking. Dessert was great - although we were disappointed in the odd creme brule - which was really tasteless custard in small tart shells. The bride was overjoyed at the wedding planner for the Marriott and her help in planning the wedding so it sounds like it was seamless for her too. We didn't stay overnight but the lobbby was also clean, modern with a lot of furniture for lounging - including a large screen TV in the lobby. Great service, clean rooms. I stayed for a business trip last weekend and used a single room with a king-size bed and participated in an event in one of their conference rooms. I was very, very happy with the room I got - 517 - it had a [clean] sofa and beautiful lighting. The room itself wasn't big but the layout was done so that the space was optimized in a calming, homey way. The staff members in charge of the conference room were very receptive to requests. A lot of them had heavy European accents, but usually it didn't hinder communication. Reception was also very friendly and were ALWAYS present - we arrived near midnight due to a delayed train but people to help were constantly available. read more

Gorgeous new hotel and restaurant. I popped in briefly to check out the lounge/bar and found it to be very open and bright. It is more of a sit down restaurant than bar/lounge like the downtown location. Lots of comfy seating and areas for businesses people to work. Located near shopping and other restaurants. I have a feeling this is going to establish itself as the go-to hotel of the west end very soon. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights over the summer and had a great experience. Service was extremely friendly and professional, rooms were spacious and clean plus the Aqua restaurant food was decent. I also liked this hotel's location - 5 minute drive to the West Edmonton Mall and walking distance to a shopping center with Walmart and Rona outlets. Gym and pool were on the small side and construction noise was an issue on some nights. Regardless of that, I still think I got value for my money. read more

I've debated doing this review for a while. As an organizer for my high school's 10 year reunion, we chose the Marriott Courtyard West for it's location and facilities, and it's a beautiful building. The original event planner I worked with was great, Meganne, and she was really helpful and understanding that we were working with a tight budget in order to make the event affordable for all of our classmates to attend, regardless of their financial status. However, she was not there the night of the event. There was another rep assigned to work with us and I felt that we were super unwelcome, which I get as we were a bunch of 28-30 year olds who hadn't seen each other in 10 years, but the hotel knew the type of event going in - a reunion with a fundraising aspect to it. Simple things that had been pre-planned with Meganne weren't followed through, like the lighting, which was supposed to be dimmed and I couldn't get them to assist me with that. The original contract stated that we had the venue til 1am, with the bar shutting down at midnight. The intent was to allow people to enjoy their last drink(s) and say their goodbyes. However, at midnight when the bar closed, the hotel essentially kicked us out and I couldn't find the rep to speak to about it; by the time I did, people were already heading out. As we were packing up, it looked as though they were needing our room for an event the next day. I wouldn't plan an event there again, unless it was a conference or a dinner, if there might be extra noise and/or music as we were asked to keep the noise down starting at about 10pm so there was a lot (A LOT) of talking and music playing at a moderate level in the background. That being said, the venue & facilities were clean & fashionable, the food was great and the guest rooms were fabulous. We received a special rate for anyone attending the event who needed a guest room. read more

My stay at the Courtyard Marriott West was one of the best hotel stays I have ever had. When asked if I was in town for business or pleasure by the manager I told them neither, that I was in Edmonton to attend a funeral. After having a great lunch in the AQUA BISTRO I returned to my room and found they had delivered a condolence card and large bottle of Evian water. I was touched... the rest of my stay amazing. Great room with a king size bed, fridge, stocked coffee bar and all the small extras that made me very comfortable. The food in the bistro was top notch with very attentive and friendly service. I am so impressed I will staying Marriott from now on. This location is also close to West Edmonton Mall, Walmart and many other good restaurants. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Frequent the Aqua restaurant at Courtyard Marriott and have to applaud the staff here! They are awesome! The servers at the restaurant are all very hospitable and helpful -- always pleasant. Love to have breakfast, coffee and lunch here - their omelettes are delicious as are their sweet potato fries. Highly recommend. read more

Did not enjoy our 2 day stay at this hotel. Sure, everything is new which is a plus but the hotel is extremely sterile and lacking in customer service - period. The food was just ok for the price paid. You can do better elsewhere. Plus, they are located in an industrial section of the city with nothing around it. The trip advisor reviews for this hotel indicate that service before 8:00 a.m is an issue and I agree with this statement. I'm not sure where the front desk staff are before this time but they are not at the front desk. We waited for 15 minutes before one of them came from somewhere??? to answer the ringing phone first and then to help us. There were also two other couples waiting at the front desk as well. This girl did not apologize or seem put out by this whatsoever. The shoddy customer service is a major downer and not worth the "newness" to stay at this hotel. read more

First time to Edmonton and stayed here. Very reasonable rates--our family booked two rooms here at 2/3rds the price of sharing one room at the next door Fairmont. No doubt not as luxurious as the Fairmont but the same view and location (we stayed at the Fairmont Banff Springs before coming here and loved it). The Westin is across the street, so it doesn't have the views. So a nice and affordable hotel in comparable if not better locations than the (ultra) high end competitors. Our rooms are very spacious, with great views of the river. Staff has been courteous, friendly and helpful. Didn't have a fridge in the room and valet parking only are my only quibbles. The restaurant and bar overlooking the river is also quite nice. All in all I highly recommend this option--hard to beat the combination of affordabillity and great location. I've stayed in so many hotels, from the smallest, cheapest and dirtiest to the best, most posh you could have. The Courtyard at Edmonton West has now got to be my favorite hotel in North America and I discovered it only by having to use up my AirMiles points. The layout, the room, the breakfast, everything is just as I like it or expect it to be. There has never been a hotel I could say was PERFECT, they all had one or two "issues", but this hotel had no issues. Here are some notes I took while I was there in early September: * Commissary to buy candy, drinks, mouthwash, toothpaste. How many hotels have this? * Restaurant, good and inexpensive. Great food, lots of it and super service. Guests can purchase any breakfast on the menu by pre-paying a low $8.00 when registering for the room. * 2 elevators. No waiting * Big room, couch, table,desk, free wifi, extremely quiet. * Business Centre is part of the restaurant. You can do work on your computer, eat dinner, or have a drink. Now that is really cool. No little crappy room without ventilation to work in. * boarding pass for my air flight printed right there * large public area as you enter. Perfect place for a meet and greet, or a wedding. * excellent air conditioner. easy to set controls, very, very quiet and super efficient. You MUST try out this place. It's easy to get to but watch out, 100 Ave in front of the hotel is one way! read more

The wife and I spent two nights at this hotel on our trip from Alaska to Alabama. My wife wanted something close to the mall and this hotel is almost within walking distance. We upgraded for the breakfast which was very good and not a buffet but individual made omelet or other items. They did limit breakfast to having a person chose between OJ or coffee, which seemed a little weird. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Also allowed use of safe which was located in office area. Parking was a little restrictive for a vehicle pulling a trailer, but I was able to find a place each day. read more

I love this hotel simply for its friendly staff and comfortable/clean rooms. It's a great location and truly lets you just relax like home. The wifi worked very well (which is a must when you need to get stuff done in your room) and there was so many choices in the cafe on the main level. I will definitely be back here! read more
