I contacted Joseph Rose plumbing in Durham, North Carolina about three plumbing problems I was…read morehaving. They scheduled to come by my house at 1 PM on Monday. By about 1:45 they had not arrived. I called the company, but no one answered. I left a phone message. I was called back in a couple of hours and, and the secretary/scheduler informed me that the job they were on was taking longer than expected. She then asked me if they could reschedule for tomorrow. I stated that that was not convenient for me. I finally relented and agreed to meet them on Tuesday. If I recall, the one technician was about 30-45 minutes late. She informed me that she had not been told about fixing the lack of shower hot water or about cleaning the mold out of our faucets but had only been told about cleaning the water heater! She arrived and started to flush the water heater. She then informed me that her new water pump that she needed for that job was defective and kept tripping the circuit breaker. She asked me if she could come back the next day at 8:30 AM! This was early for me in terms of usually sleeping longer, but I agreed in order to get the ordeal finished. She came with a young helper, and they completed the work. Rose appeared to be competent and, furthermore, she communicated well with me which was an appreciated change from her handler/scheduler. She and I talked about the benefit of the whole house water filter. She stated that she would get some information and send a proposal. That never happened. As you can gather, there are two significant problems with Joseph Rose plumbing, according to my experience with them. One is the absence of adequate and efficient communication, and the other is a lack of follow-up on what they say they will do.

Upon unscrewing the metal hose, it immediately retracted into the curved faucet -- slid through the tube and caught at the end of the pipe under the sink. I was able to feed it back up through the curved faucet, and could see the end of the metal hose up near the top side but was unable to pinch the edge of the hose and pull it through. I worked at it for a couple of hours -- trying and hoping that I could fix it -- but finally threw in the towel. Professional help was needed. Melvin answered my phone call at 8:30 am while on his way to an already scheduled service call. Hearing that we had guests who had just arrived the night before, he agreed to try and make it by our house that afternoon. Melvin was able to come by that afternoon, reconnect the water line, identify the part number of the faucet head, connect with the company's customer service department to determine the replacement part. Melvin is knowledgeable, patient, fair and kind. He goes the extra mile in providing plumbing service. Unbeatable!

I didn't have a second thought about who to contact and sent a request through to J Plumbing Service and arranged for a time for Melvin to come out to install. The city of Raleigh refuses to check their water meter or replace it without an invoice from a plumber. Our water bill was higher than usual the last few months. I did a toilet leak test and found no leaks. Nothing else on the property showed a leak. I called the water department and they were less than helpful. Despite our bill going DOWN after turning ON our sprinkler system, they insisted there was a leak. Matthew's Plumbing sent two guys out who listened to the story, checked the meter as I did, checked the crawl space (no leaks) and listened to me complain about the water department. I was expecting to pay $200+, instead they only charged me $75. These people are honest. I was upset enough that I would have paid the $200 or more had they asked me to do so. Today's visit is why I'll keep doing business with them.

The downside is with the obscene expense from the Water Restoration department. $900 to have two fans and a dehumidifier running in our kitchen for three days. The person that was sent looked at and tried to fix the issue but did not have the right tools. So he indicated that they would send someone else out. Two days later the next technician came out and indicated that I needed some specialty parts ordered and that he would order the parts and install them on his next visit. During the next visit two new technicians came out and indicated that a specialty part was needed. So I told them thats what the last technician indicated as well and to check to see if the parts were ordered. Turns out the parts were not ordered. So the two new technicians ordered the new part and when it arrived the day later they went to install it. This fixed a majority of the leaks but there was a smaller leak an the part that was not replaced. So i called and they sent another technician out (5 total different technicians). He indicated that it was not leaking from the parts that were replaced and that would not be covered by the exiting quote. I said this was ok and that I wanted to have the smaller leak fixed regardless since my expectation is that there are 0 leaks under my house. He told me that the 2 technicians that installed the fix for the major leak would be sent out to assess the situation. Well I got a call from the manager this morning that they would not be fixing the smaller leak and that the technicians would not be coming to my house anymore to fix additional leaks. Additionally, the manager indicated that I did not want to pay to have the leaks addressed which is a straight up lie. They told me "Go look somewhere else to get your leak addressed". So now I am out 900 and still have a leak in my crawl space under my tub and a company that does not want to fix the issue I called about. This all took place over two weeks and has been extremely frustrating. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR ISSUES RESOLVED!

First time customer. My experience COULD have been better... BUT it wasn't…read more Friday morning, we called out Streamline for electrical needs. Electrical issues were diagnosed, estimates given. We could not afford any of the estimates. I already have expensive estimates from two other companies. Gentlemen were really nice. After a pleasant 2-3 hours with the electricians, I paid the diagnostic fee paid which was $280.00. I explained I had a $350.00 budget, so this was under budget. However, still wife was disappointed that nothing was actually fixed with our electrical outlets. Electricians smelled gas in the garage by the hot water heater. "We can send out our streamline plumber no charge." Plumber came at a time that I said I was unavailable and on a work call. And I was with the electricians most of the morning so needed to get work done. Said to the plumber that I was on a call but to go into the garage and try and see what's going on. What I was not expecting was the plumber to be gone when I returned from my calls but also did not realize immediately that the gas had been shut off. I understand why the plumber would do this, for safety reasons and I would do the same in that situation. However, note the gas smell has been present for over a decade and checked out by PSNC. My problem starts here: (and none of this would be relevant if this had happened on a non-Friday afternoon). - Don't turn off the gas and leave for the weekend. I didn't know the gas was off until water went to warm Friday evening when my kids went to shower - At that point, I looked at the repair estimate more closely, and it mentions turning gas off. I text him "did you turn gas off???" - You know I'm going to have to call someone right back out to turn it back on, and it's a Friday afternoon. At this point, I felt I was put in a situation where I had no choice but to call Streamline back Friday evening to come back out Saturday morning (after being there the day) for an emergency service. I would have told you to fix it Friday or leave it alone and I would call PSNC. I explained this at the time before scheduling the Saturday service but proceeded anyway thinking "this is not right!" and that I would contact them about it after and sort it out. I contacted their office and I requested a refund of the $189.00 Saturday service call. I explained I am OK with paying for the work performed but feel as if the Saturday service was not fair. Streamline sees no fault, which I somewhat agree with since it was gas whic is nothing to mess around with. But if you claim to seek "customer smiles," I'm not really smiling at the moment. All I am asking for is to meet us less than half-way. It's hard not to feel like we paid $750.00 for a 15-minute gas line valve repair, some very expensive estimates and a whole lot of labor. And we're still in the same spot I was in before I called Streamline out for the electrical visit. :( Technicians were super nice and knowledgeable though, 5 stars. But only 2 stars for Streamline as a business.
