JV Nails is one of many nail places in the Knapp's Corner area and where I chose to get a pedicure recently. I saw that you can make an appointment online through their website, but the options were kind of confusing and not very specific (I couldn't tell what pedicure I was choosing), so I just ended up calling. I was able to get a same day appointment, which was nice. When I arrived, I was greeted and chose my polish color. The salon was clean and pretty quiet, making it nice to get some reading done. They have a sign on the front desk saying they are short handed and thanks for your patience. I did have to be patient, as I wasn't in the chair until 15 minutes past my appointment time. Luckily I wasn't in a hurry, but something to keep in mind if you have other plans. The tech was gentle and my pedicure was great. I just chose the cheapest option ($35) but they have some nice add ons. Once the pedicure was done I just sat in the chair and tried to wait for it to dry. They do take credit cards for payment but I had cash. Overall it was a good experience and I'd probably go back, but only if I don't have any commitments later in the day since it was a bit slow. read more

I have been a customer for at least six years! I've referred people to them etc. The business was sold a couple of years ago. Since then, the prices have fluctuated so much! It is a different price every time I get my nails done. The last time I was there, I got a dip, asked for almond shaped nails. When finished, he said the bill was 50.00! I asked him why because I've never paid that much! He told me that they charge 5.00 for almond shape! What? I've never paid extra for the shape of my nails! Said it takes longer to do! Not true! It's no longer than when I have a different shape done!!! They do beautiful work, but I am tired of the price changes all the time. I am done with this, and going somewhere else where I know what I'm paying upfront. read more

My nail technician was nice and appeared competent. My manicure turned out nice for the evening I needed it for. But it didn't last more than 3 days, (some nails started to wear off) , so I was a bit disappointed. By the time you spend that kind of money I had hoped to get longer lasting effect. read more

Quoted me $10 and up to trim my toenails. On completion they charged me $12. When I asked why I was charged $12 instead of $10 no one could answer. I gave this place a try because it looked like it had new ownership and renovations since the last time I had went. I wanted a mani/pedi before my spring break trip to California. {PROS} *My friend and I walked in without an appointment and got sat immediately. *Offered something to drink. *Polish did turn out very nice. *Inside of the place looked new along with all the equipment. {CONS} *We were pushed to keep trying to upgrade our pedicures. We both said we wanted the basic pedicure multiple times. They seemed disappointed when we kept refusing. Slightly uncomfortable. *The salon was almost empty of people, however they didn't sit us next to each other while getting our nails done.. seemed slightly strange. So we were unable to talk for the majority of it. *Staff seemed slightly rude. *I was cut a couple times while getting a shellac manicure. [inserted pictures] Overall, it was "okay". I've been to places that literally try to just rip them off & they don't actually care about your nails but you could tell that he did! This is def. my new nail spot. I am new to Knapp corner area and wanted to try a new nail shop. The experience was very disappointing. It took a hour to get this full set done. Then they were done so poorly. They barely use acrylic so I've already broken 2 nails and it hasn't even been 2 weeks. The first I went back and got repaired and they told me to come back when a repair is 5 minutes. My friend and I stopped here on vacation, and it was great! Being a man, I got a manicure without any polish. She got a shellac manicure with these super fun sprinkle-looking things. Probably the worst experience I've had at a nail salon in a while. I got the jelly pedicure and asked for hot stones (NOT A paraffin wax. LET THAT BE KNOWN). The woman who was going to do my nails tried to get me to get the most expensive pedicure ($50) and I declined 2 separate times. But she asked again... The jelly pedicure is cool, I will say - but first my water was too hot and the woman doing my nails kept trying to shove my feet in the bath AFTER I told her 2 times it was way too hot. She then put ice cold water in the tub making the water only lukewarm. I was told the stone massage would be $5 - cool. Sold. But, I hardly got a massage. My nails are all crooked. There is polish all over my skin and cuticles. The application is streaky (it's not the polish, I always bring my own and know how my polishes apply), uneven and my nails aren't even completely covered. The woman who did my nails wasn't paying attention at ALL to what she was doing. Her and the other women were too busy laughing and pointing at my friend because she had her jacket over her lap because she was cold and it looked like she didn't have pants on. really professional. Came time to pay and I was told I was given a paraffin wax along with my stone massage because the woman doing my nails misunderstood... I never even muttered the words "paraffin wax" so I don't know how she was confused. I didn't ask for it. But I was told I would have to pay for it. Fake. News. I was not doing that. After a few minutes of stating my case, another woman said I wouldn't have to pay. This experience was a nightmare. I wouldn't recommend. read more

First time at JV Nails & Spa with Annie and she did an amazing job! Very thorough. They actually care about what your nails look like, they're not just trying to get you in and out as quickly as possible (as is unfortunately the case with a lot of walk-in salons). She somehow also managed to do a proper dip but without making the nails too thick. Now that I see how well it's done here, I actually realize how badly the place I went to before was doing it. I've never had a pedicure take 1 1/2 hours so it's not some place you want to go if you are short on time. I had an appointment so I was surprised when they had my feet soak for 30 minutes, at other places it's been a max of 10 - 15 minutes. when I was finally done I walked out with the polish on one big toe messed up. My heels are just as rough as when I went in. if you want a good pedicure I would suggest finding some place else. read more

I really wanted to love this place because they were accommodating to us. They opened at 10am this Sunday for the three of us to get manis and pedis (an hour before they were supposed to open). But it's literally been 4 days and 2 of my nails have fallen off. I don't even know when they fell off, they just disappeared. I will NEVER go back to JV nails again!! I was a loyal customer for years and I just had a terrible experience!! I had my nails and toes done yesterday, with Shellac polish and it all peeled off by the end of today..... so at first they told me on the phone that they would fix it but when I showed up they would not fix it!! I paid almost 90$ with tip....that is not ok!! They told me because it was more than one nail they did not have time to do it!! Are you kidding me....what a joke!! they also would not refund me the money!! The tech who did my nails name was Tiffany and she always had been nice but not this time!! I'm just going to say avoid this place, I rarely post things like this but this place was recommended by a regular. I am no expert but I don't think dip powder requires 4 layers and i'm pretty sure i'm not suppose to be scabbing from getting knicked and/or bleeding. The dip powder was so thick and my nails were poorly shaped. I tried to communicate with the tech about what I wanted but I don't think she was listening at all. The staff was friendly but we waited an hour for service (they were busy so that part is understandable). I spent $80 and 3 and a half hours at this place and I left almost in tears. I treat myself maybe twice a year to manicures and pedicures. I hate that their english is so bad, wish it was better and they talked slower. I got a mani-pedi a gentleman did my nails. He did great on my pedi. But when it came to my manicure he was not paying attention to what he was doing and cut 2 of my cuticles and they bleed horrible. Me wanting to put pressure on them to stop the bleeding and he kept pushing my hand away and just placing a cotton ball on it. I was charged full price and no empathy. I had to put an antibiotic cream and bandages on my fingers when i got home. These nail shops are like meat markets, no customer service just how quickly they can get you done and move on to the next. read more

I have only had dip done two other times and was impressed the first (but it was very expensive) and not at all the second time so I tried this place off of a friend's recommendation. I used to love coming here. I looked forward to every appointment as they were always thorough and my nails always looked great after. This past week I went and got a dip manicure and as you know it takes about an hour to get it done. The color was wrong and very translucent. I didn't receive an apology, but was asked to come back in the morning to get it fixed. I understand they have no control over how the polish shows when the color is new, but no apology was issued. I was still charged for the manicure when leaving and then still had to come back the next day to have the owner's wife redo my nails. I still never got an apology, she was rude, cut my cuticles and didn't apologize when I withdrew my hand in pain. My cuticles are cut up and sore everywhere. I won't be returning and will be on the look out for a new location. Stay away folks. read more
