I've been seeing Jeannie for a few years now and every time I go, I'm amazed at her artistry!! She is fantastic! I have complete trust in her and her work. I started to lose my eyebrows several years ago and I nervously visited JuvEssentials for tattooing. They looked great immediately and each touch up appointment has never disappointed. She has an "eye" for what would look good, not too heavy, not too little and a great shape. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Jeannie read more

I've been meaning to write this review for some time, and I worked with Jeannie about two years ago. She is warm, precise, and experienced. I have had some fading, which is to be expected, but her color matching is better than others I have seen from other places. If you are thinking about permanent makeup (essentially a tattoo on your face), definitely go to the best, and I think she is it. read more

She does nice work but I was surprised that one follow-up visit is NOT included in the price. That's not what I've found with other providers of similar services. In my case, I knew that the first time might not produce the desired results - and it didn't - but I didn't want to pay the same fee a second time only to not have it work it yet again. read more

Jeannie has made a HUGE difference in my life- I no longer feel uncomfortable when people stare at my face because my eyebrows now look so good and so natural. After having both my eyeliner and brows done, I literally need only do my hair in the morning and I am ready to go! Good-bye makeup! I even having people telling me that I look "so well rested" and "wow you're looking younger these days, have you had work done?" Even my husband loves it! It only takes me a few minutes to get ready now and he loves the fact that I wake up in the morning looking the same as I did during the day. He says I look fresh, youthful and natural. I could not be happier with Jeannie and I'll say it again...she has made such a difference in my life! As for her chair-side manner, I actually look forward to my time in the chair with her. She is confident, insightful, calming and comforting. My only regret is not finding her sooner :-) Thank you Jeannie- for everything :-) read more

JuvEssentials, Jeannie is truly the best permanent makeup artist. Jeannie is very talented. My daughter and I just had our eyebrows touched up and my lips. Jeannie did a fantastic job, simply beautiful work. If you want an update, to look more natural, younger and be free of makeup I can't recommend JuvEssentials enough. Jeannie is an amazing artist. read more

Don't waste your money at JuvEssentials. I paid $750 for eyebrow tattoos that didn't last more than a few months and when I wanted a touch up, Jeanne could not accommodate me after I gave her 5 different days I was available. Her arrogant and condescending demeaner was unbelievable. She was just plain rude on every opportunity. Her clean shop and superficial smile is just a facade for her big rip off. You are just ONE BIG DOLLAR SIGN in her eyes. I give it "one star" for the appearance of her shop...THAT'S IT.... read more

This is really a 2.5 to maybe at best a 3 star experience I had with Jeannie. This review is long overdue and i used Juvessentials when she was located in the mission, and now she has moved her business to the downtown Union square area. I did my eyebrows with Jeannie. Her technique of tattooing is using a tattoo needle and ink and it's done by hand as oppose to using a gun. This gives it a lighter feathering look which should resemble what a true eyebrow should look like. Jeannie first drew the shape in according to what she thought was appealing and fitting for my face and since I approved, she went ahead and tap tapped it in. It was actually kind of painful and I have a pretty high threshold for pain. After about an hour I was done. Round 2, two weeks later I made an appointment for a touch up because most of the ink flaked off leaving my eyebrows light and odd colored. Back to the Joan Crawford look. No charge for this touch up. Round 3, another appointment a couple months later because after the last flaking the shape was off and not symmetrical and the color was still too light. Mommy Dearest look again. This time there was a charge. After this flaking the eyebrows were better but not quite right, I still had to do some coloring in to one of my eyebrows. I did not want to go back because each time I went, she would smile a big smile and tell me it looked great, but to me it didn't look great. I didn't want to go through this painful procedure again and pay yet more money. JuvEssentials is expensive !! Yes, I acknowledge that this style of work is more expensive but I should leave happy with the work how I look. Jeannie at JuvEssentials was certainly pleasant enough. She was reassuring and very enthusiastic, to the point of being somewhat a phony. I finally broke down after a year and went to another woman that also has her business downtown around Union Square. Same technique of tattooing and her prices are much more reasonable. I am now much happier with my eyebrows. read more

A follow-up from my last post. I was initially happy with my brow tattoo, but needed another touch-up In 2010 since my perfectly colored brows turned orange. This seemed to correct the issue for a few months, then again the brows turned orange. Since I was getting married and wanted my brows to look "normal", I went to a different artist to have my brows "corrected". It took 2 sessions, but now my brows look normal again. The other issue I had is that for 7+ days after a tattoo and/or touch-up, I would have gigantic, black "mega-brows" that I couldn't be seen in public with. I have several friends that go to my current tattoo artist, and none of us have experienced the "mega-brows". I have also discovered that JuvEssentials prices are almost twice what other artists charge. read more

The situation: Sparse eyebrows and tired of filling them in all the time, but deathly afraid of fake looking tattooed eyebrows that are going to turn warm brown after a few months. I do my research on Yelp and its between JuvEssentials and Faces Plus. Sure Faces Plus is cheaper, but this is my face and I'm willing to pay more for peace of mind and good craftsmanship. I make a consultation with JuvEssentials. Now enter Jeannie. I can't even begin to express how amazing and talented she is at eyebrow tattooing. Her ability to walk me through the process and answer ALL of my questions and give me peace of mind is invaluable. Also does everything by hand rather than a tattoo gun which makes them look more natural. Its been two months since I first got them done, I've been back for one touch up and I couldn't be happier. They look natural, the color is spot on and the shape is perfect. (and I always thought I did them pretty good myself too) I'll give you a little play by play of what to expect: the whole process took about less than an hour, she gives you the quality time you expect instead of rushing you out of there. She uses fills in the brows with the exact same color she'll use to tattoo and you agree on a shape. She lets you make adjustments if needed, but also will give you her honest opinion and you should trust it! Applies numbing gel and the fun begins. On a scale of 1-5 of the pain, I'd say a 2.5-3 but I'm kind of a wuss. So then the eyebrows are pretty seriously dark and you really have to understand they lighten and peel within 5-7 days. It took 5 days for mine and I was already so happy with the result. I went 3 weeks later to get a touch up to even everything out and make them a bit thicker. Some think, well why do you have to go in a 2nd time? Well in my opinion, its better to layer on the color and have the choice to go darker, then have them done once and be too dark and unnatural. So that's it! I highly recommend JuvEssentials, sure its a little pricier than other places, but its well worth it. And now I have lovely eyebrows. (which you can see in my profile photo!) :) read more

I have been an esthetician for 16 years, and it has taken me almost that long to find the perfect artist to do my brows. While I have many tattoos on my body, I have been very reticent to have my brows tattooed, as I have seen pretty horrible work out there- either the pigments were off and looked really harsh on the person, or the lines were off. I had always been afraid to get my brows done due to most of the work I saw being poorly done or simply too harsh. After my extensive search, I came across Jeannie here on Yelp and I was blown away by her portfolio. In my opinion, Jeannie is the best in SF. I have had several sessions with her, and I am so happy to wake up with brows now. I am a brunette with very light brow hair, so having this procedure has been a game changer for me. She also made my brows match- most all of us have one brow that grows differently than the other. After Jeannie worked on me, I now have symmetry in my brows that I had never had before. One thing that I was looking for was a professional with a large body of work, that I could access on line. Since I have had tattoo work done all over my body, I find that artists without a portfolio are not a good investment, especially for your face. I am also really concerned about the artists who advertise without a portfolio, as it suggests to me that perhaps they have not had that any hours of training, or could be practicing without certification. A good indicator of this may be what the artist is charging; as the old saying goes in the tattoo community, "Good work ain't cheap, and cheap work ain't good!" Jeannie not only has a large body of work on line to look at, she also runs a clean practice. She keeps excellent sanitation and disinfection practices. She also has spent hours educating me on how this process works, what I can expect over time/ aging, and how often to come in for touch ups. Jeannie has really surpassed my expectations with her work and knowledge. I was seeking an artist that met my cleanliness standards, could enhance the shape and color of my brow and educate me about the process. I have been thrilled with her work, as have my clients that I have sent her way. For permanent makeup, she is the best in the bay, hands down. read more

I made the unfortunate mistake of having my eyebrows tattooed (not by Jeanine) and I hated it. They were shaped badly and became discolored. I pretty much thought I would be hideous forever. Thank goodness for Jeanine. She was so nice and very knowledgeable. I had 2 non laser tattoo sessions done by here and my hideous eyebrow tattoos are gone. Completely gone. If you are considering this process it seems so much quicker and cheaper than laser tattoo removal (which they told me might not even work) you will not regret it. Thanks so much Jeanine! read more

I've seen Jeannie for permanent makeup (eyeliner) and she also waxed my eyebrows twice. I felt that she listened very well to what I wanted and did a fantastic job! The permanent makeup sounds scary, and I have to admit that I was quite worried before my first appointment. However, the numbing cream is amazing. I'm a total wimp, and at the worst points, I could only describe it as somewhat uncomfortable. The healing process is quick. My eyelids felt sore for about a week, then I had beautiful lined eyes - even after swimming! It took me forever to get over my fears about permanent makeup and I wish I was brave sooner - I'm SO happy with my new, lined eyes! Tips: Bring change for street parking. If you have your eyes done, you might look a bit red and puffy for about a day (I was red and puffy for around 24 hours the first time, then only 10 hours or so when I went back for a touch-up weeks later) read more

For years I had considered getting permanent eyeliner to simplify my life and look fabulous every day without the hassles of makeup and remover, but I was nervous about changing my face forever. A week after my first conversation with Jeannie, I was on her table getting my eyes tattooed. Jeannie really earned my trust and I always tell people that when I tell them what it was like to have someone tattoo my eyes. Jeannie was able to create a beautiful, subtle liner for me that looks great all the time. She is extremely confident, precise, and efficient and she communicates during every step of the process. She checked in after sessions to see how I was doing and worked with me to get the look I wanted. I would recommend Jeannie to anyone interested in getting permanent makeup. read more

Jeannie has a fantastic eye and remarkable patience. Trust me you will appreciate the fact that she does not have a heavy hand while applying permanent makeup. Yes you may have to go back a few times until you get the look you want but this is true with any good permanent makeup artist. I have seen many clients come into Jeannie's studio for tattoo removal and I feel sorry that these gals had to walk around looking like that before they found Jeannie. And she doesn't just do permanent makeup removal, she can remove actual tattoos! I personally have not experienced the tattoo removal but it is amazing what they can do now a days. No more 10 plus laser removals. It can now be almost completely removed with I believe a saline solution of sorts. I wish I would have found her before I had mine partially removed by the laser. She also does tattoo camouflage. Ask her about it. Her patience was beyond believable. I was actually going through a really rough patch in my life and was doing a lot of crying, part of the reason I decided to get my eyelids tattooed. I was also suffering from panic attacks. One time I almost bolted from her chair only to be soothed back in by Jeannie's calmness and rationality. She actually took the time to do one eye at a time so I could keep one eye open. My eyes look absolutely phenomenal! So natural. I wake up in the morning and don't need to do anything to my eyes and they look big and beautiful. When I go out at night I just add a little liner to the outer corner or maybe go for the full cats eye look and it's fantastic. Some mascara and I'm good to go. I also had my eyebrows and lips done. I am 50 and I seriously look in the mirror the morning and feel 20 years younger. I also surf and swim in the ocean so I come out of the sea feeling like the siren I think I am. ;) Thanks Jeannie! read more

Thin, sparse brows run in my family. They were already crappy when I was born. Then there was high school in the 90s (ladies, you know the trend to which I'm referring). Fast forward to my adulthood and I am permanently stuck with eyebrows that are 1 hair thick. I became very proficient at creating my own brows every day using pencil, and then pomades/gels when they became available. However that is no way to live your life. It took me 21 years of constantly having to draw on my brows before leaving the house before I decided to take the plunge. I'm pretty sure I found Jeannie on yelp because of her awesome ratings, but I did my research and decided on her because her galleries showed such consistently excellent, natural looking, subtle artistry. And I am so glad I chose her, because I now literally have the eyebrows I have spent so much time and effort and money trying to create everyday out of makeup! They are beautiful, have stayed so perfectly, and Jeannie made sure I was comfortable and happy every step from the design and color choice through the touch up (Just had my first one! So happy). This is one of the best financial decisions I've made about my looks. It's so freeing tohave the extra time in the morning, and THEY DON"T RUB OFF!! Honestly I now recognize myself in the mirror after showering instead of cringing internally at my freaky lack of eyebrows. I could go on and on, seriously. But let me end here and just recommend Jeannie 100000%. Also she is fun to talk to. 5 stars for sure! I'm never going back to drawing these critters on. read more

After years of over-tweezed, pencil-drawn eyebrows and agonizing over whether or not to have permanent cosmetics done, I found Jeannie (via Yelp.com). I had my first session with her a couple of weeks ago and could not be more pleased. She is extremely warm and personable, knowledgeable and genuinely committed to helping you realize your own potential. She took her time evaluating my facial features to determine the size/shape, and selected a color that is almost better than what nature provided. I am ecstatic with the natural-looking result and can't wait to return for my follow-up appt!! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Edited 3/8/08t: As of today, I have been back for two follow-up sessions (approximately 3 weeks lapsed in between sessions), and each time I walk out looking even more lovelier than when I walked in! The process of depositing pigment in layers has resulted in a soft, powdery finish with a depth of color and definition that I could never achieve with traditional make-up. I can't wait to go camping and swimming without worrying about my drawn-in eyebrows dissapearing or smearing! I can't thank her enough for the confidence boost that she's given me with her fine work. Also, during my recent touch-up visit I asked for an upper lip wax which Jeannie performed with ease - she even took the time to tweeze the really fine hairs under a magnifying glass. read more

I will not repeat what others have already written so I will give a review for the natural permanent makeup removal. In short, it works! Both Jeannie and I were very surprised that it only took one session as the eyeliner wing tattoo was almost two years old. I have a very low pain tolerance but I found it at most highly irritating. As Jeannie warned, there was stinging after the treatment as the solution draws out the tattoo. My tattoo finally fell off around three weeks afterwards. I suspect others may need more than one session. The flipside of my skin being able to give up the tattoo so readily was that even after eight weeks, new tattoos found it hard to settle in. So, it is best to wait a few months before doing a new tattoo in that area. read more

Jeannie's work is impeccable. I started my first eyebrow & eyeliner treatment 2 years ago and my results are flawless. No one can tell I had any kind of eyebrow treatment even an hour after a session. Jeannie is the best in her field and I won't see anyone else. read more

I've been going to Jeannie for many years. She has been keeping my eyebrows and eyeliner looking great! My mom lost all her eyebrows and penciled them on - when I found Jeannie I knew I had found a much better solution! I never have to worry about going out looking like I don't have on make-up. A little lipstick and off I go. Jeannie has a gentle touch and knows exactly how to make a girl look good. Thanks, Jeannie! read more

I've been seeing Jeannie for about a year now and can really see the difference in my skin. Years ago I decided to try permanent eye make-up. I did some minimal online research, but, not knowing what to look for, I settled on someone who was primarily a hair stylist, but was also doing make-up tattoos. I had upper and lower lid lines done at that time. The big problem was that the lines did not match on both eyes! Too late I realized that the lady didn't have much experience with permanent make-up and I really didn't want to go back to her to have the problem fixed. I didn't know what to do. I found Jeannie at her salon, JuvEssentials, on the internet. After a consultation, I decided to also have my eyebrows done. She also counseled my on the possibility of having the mistakes corrected with my badly done eyeliner. Although Jeannie frankly told me that there wasn't a 100% chance that it would work completely, I decided I had to try. She used a method that lifted the old lines off, and, after a while, redid them properly using her method. It was a good decision because now my eyeliners match, and they have been in place for several years with no retouch necessary. The combination of beautiful eyebrows and the eyeliner has made me so much more confident in my appearance, I am so grateful for Jeannie's expertise and kindness over the years. She's become a friend I like and trust very much, and would recommend her to anyone looking to improve their looks through "permanent" make-up. (I put "permanent" in quotations, because fading does occur over time, and touch-ups are necessary.) She also carries various face make-ups that she meticulously researches as to their safety and efficacy. I have always had the skin condition known as rosacea that didn't respond to any treatment until I started buying a product Jeannie carries. It is a tinted sun screen called Lira, and has helped my skin health - especially for the rosacea, but also for youthful skin for my age of 68 - a great deal! It's not cheap, but I consider it essential to my skin care. read more

I came in for a eyebrow consultation after reading all the wonderful reviews on yelp. The reviews don't lie - Jeannie is amazing at what she does! She's very friendly and has great energy. I used to draw in my brows every single day, and it just wasn't something I wanted to continue doing so I decided to look into permanent makeup. Jeannie uses a scratching method to draw individual hairs to make it look as natural as possible. It is worth every penny! I came in for 3 sessions, each three weeks apart; my brows looked amazing after the first session! I just finished my last session, and I am so happy with my brows! Jeannie did such a wonderful job, from picking the right color to drawing the perfect shape! read more

Jeannie is a true talent in her field. I first went to Jeannie to have my lips enhanced, but found myself quickly coming back to have other areas beautified. After seeing Jeannie's portfolio of work and having a consultation with her, I knew I was in good hands! I am so thrilled with the results! Besides being highly skilled, she is professional, friendly, caring, communicative, and a good listener. Her new office is beautiful, clean, and centrally located. In 1992, I had eyeliner tattoo performed at a hair salon in Sacramento, at the urging of my hairstylist who had just completed a training course make-up tattoo. Over the years, one eye turned bluish and 'migrated' while the other faded. After 15 years, I inquired with a dermatologist about removal and I was advised not to, as it would not totally remove the tattoo especially the part where it had migrated so I left it alone. But without eyeliner touch-up, people thought I forgot to put eyeliner on one eye. My eyeliner make-up routine ended up trying to match the eye that had faded with the one that migrated. Last year, I did a thorough research on the corrective process, basically to re-tattoo the one eye that faded since removal is not an option. I am so glad I found Jeannie. She is very professional, thorough, explained everything clearly, and just a very nice person. I am so happy with work. The results speak for themselves and can be seen by friends and family. read more

Jeannie is the permanent make-up guru!! I've had my eyebrows tattooed since I was 18 and they were turning red! So I found her online and she did my eyebrows for the very first time in January 08' and I've had two touch ups after that. Every time she did my eyebrows, it barely hurt. The best part about her work is that I get compliments on my eyebrows ALL the time including compliments from GUYS. For instance, I was complaining to my boyfriend about something on my face and he says "never mind that, your eyebrows look really, really amazing!!" For my boyfriend to actually notice my eyebrows, it says it all!! I've also had a facial from her. It was when I first got back from Iraq and my face was blotchy, pimples and blackheads galore!! After my facial, my face was completely clear. To this day, I still don't have any blackheads and the products she sells does wonders on my skin!!!! Her customer service is truly amazing!! She really listened to all my needs. She has a great memory on all her clients to include the ones she hasn't seen in months!! I recommend her to anyone who needs permanent make-up and skin care. read more

My Mom and I have been going to Jeannie at JuvEssentials for eyeliner and eyebrow permanent makeup for the last 6 years for different procedures. Jeannie is an artist! She really adapts and contours the makeup design to each face and eye shape. Jeannie's makeup application looks natural and authentic unlike some other salon where you can clearly tell someone has a tattoo. It is evident to anyone meeting her that Jeannie is a very warm and caring person, and is very honest, She tells you what she thinks will and won't work well based on your request (even though it may mean a lower fee for her at that time) and provides helpful suggestions about all sorts of health and beauty solutions.
