I will start off by saying I will not admit my age but will admit I lived through the over-tweezed brows era. An era that most people later regret because of their current thin to nonexistent brow situation. But then came microblading which I completely didn't understand. There are 2 parts to my review. One is positive; the other is not-so-positive. Christine was very sweet and kind and spent awhile with me working on a rough draft of my eyebrows. She explains things well and is easy to communicate with. I was also told that would need to put a non-refundable deposit of $100 - IF I chose to have the work done. At this point in time, perhaps I was to hasty in giving her the deposit, since I wasn't sure I wanted to go through with it. I tried to get used to the work Christine had done - but decided that I did not like it even though she explained she would work on them to make it better during the appointment. 2 days later, I decided that I didn't want to go through with the procedure and I informed Christine of my decision. Since I changed my mind within a few days and my appointment was a month away; I assumed Christine would do the right & professional thing by returning my deposit. But, she re-explained that it was non-refundable. After contacting other practitioners; they also required a non-refundable deposit but they also said that that under similar circustances, they would have returned my deposit since my appointment was so far away. If it was within a week away, that would be different. So, I felt this policy was too rigid and lacked flexibility considering the timing/circumstances. I was too hasty in giving her my deposit; and I feel she was unprofessional in not returning it given the specific circumstances. Otherwise, Christine was great. If you are looking to work with someone who takes and keeps your money regardless of services rendered, this is the person for you! I messaged Christine earlier in the year when I was thinking of getting permanent makeup. I placed a $100 deposit for her services; unfortunately, I have several chronic illnesses and was diagnosed with a degenerative connective tissue disorder which requires testing, etc., so my medical team advised me against permanent makeup for the indefinite future. I was not told that the deposit for non-refundable and assumed Christine would be understanding of my current predicament. Instead, she noted that she required her clients to take their appointments seriously - including those who are undergoing chemo (!!) and said she would not be refunding the $100. I am surprised and disappointed that she would keep $100 for services not rendered instead of caring about her clients' health. Taking an aesthetic appointment seriously during personal duress is a disturbing sentiment to hear. Even more disheartening to know that clients who are undergoing chemo or other extensive situations aren't able to prioritize their well-being if they need to cancel. There are a lot of Bay Area brow experts who would do a great job if you are looking for this service - I would advise working with them over someone who prioritizes profit over client well-being. ***Edited to add based on owner's response: this business is not the same level as Tesla - that is a straw man fallacy argument, and I'm sure all of us have worked with businesses who have non-refundable deposits. They tell you up-front - please don't be deceived by people who try to screw you over after they have taken your $$. I've been on the fence about getting my brows tattooed for a good two years. When i saw my friend with brows STILL looking fantastic after a year, i knew i had to get them done! She referred me to Christine, who was friendly and professional and i'm so glad i picked her to tattoo my brows! We started our session immediately when i arrived. We started with discussing how i'll like my eyebrow's shape and thickness. Soon after, she mapped out the shape. Once i was satisfied with the shape, we started the tattoo. I would say the pain level for me wasn't bad. She was quick and after about 20 minutes of tattooing, i had perfect symmetrical brows! The healing process was easy and simple. I kept the tattoo moist with Aquaphor and cleaned throughout the two weeks. Christine gave me instructions on what to do and even checked up on me after a week! My brows have completely healed now. I am extremely happy with my shape, color and thickness. There are a few lighter spots on each brow, but they'll be adjusted during the complimentary touch up session in a month. I got my eyebrows done for the first time with Christine and the experience was magical! Her passion for eyebrows is clear in her skills. She truly understands brows. Not only is she good at what she does, the client experience is just as wonderful. I knew I wanted my eyebrows done but, knowing it is such an important part of your face, I was terrified. Christine immediately made me feel comfortable. She asked all the right questions and really took the time to make sure I was happy with the shape and look. The consultation was key and really helped me understand what I wanted and what to expect. The day of the session, she went over the plan again which I thought was really important. Christine is the best! I have always had really fair and small brows - I never felt like I got good at filling them in, so after a bunch a research I found Christine. At the initial consultation she takes her time to measure & draw on the best brow shape for your face. She books up quickly, but I was able to get an appointment about a month after my consultation. After the first session your brows will be extra dark and thick. They get even darker during the first few days of the healing process, but after about 4 days they started to lighten up and I didn't feel self-conscious. tl;dr: Pick Christine to do your brows. Your life will be changed. Your eyebrows will be on fleek for years. I have a small scar on my left eyebrow that doesn't grow hair as a result of a childhood surgery and have filled my eyebrows in since I can remember. The awkward scarring has left me self-conscious and changed the shaping of my natural brows. My good friend did powdered (ombre) brows and they look phenomenal, so I was inspired to look into this procedure over microblading. If you're hesitant about this procedure, I can say with honesty that this was one of the best decisions I made and will probably make for myself. I don't wear much makeup, so when you wake up with fabulous eyebrows you already know your day will be off to a good start - because even if you have a shit day, you'll still have fabulous eyebrows every minute of that day. If you can't tell already, I'm that person that worships eyebrows and consider them the most important aspect of any face. [Procedure] Since this is a permanent procedure, definitely do research into the technician that you want. I looked through Christine's work on instagram and read through her rave Yelp raves and decided that this was the woman who would be tasked with changing my life. Christine's a busy woman - she squeezed me in on a Sunday morning at 8:00am, which was super sweet of her to do. I had requested the appointment for two weeks later because she was so booked, which was a good sign. You make a $100 deposit and then pay the $400 after the procedure - this is a standard price for powdered brows. I honestly had no idea what to expect, but the procedure took about 2.5 hours. Christine spent a good half of that time re-shaping my brows, and taking down my left brow that had the scar because the tattoo would cover the scar. When she reshapes your brows, you honestly are blown away by how long you lived your life with asymmetrical brows. She has such great attention to detail and looks for your feedback as well. The actual tattooing part was really uncomfortable for me. I've never gotten a tattoo before, and it really hurt on certain areas. Numbing cream is applied, but I definitely felt the pain, but I also have a low threshold for pain and you are getting a tattoo on your face! However, after the procedure is done, you open your eyes for a new you. [Aftercare] The first 3 days after the procedure, my eyebrows were really dark. Make sure you put the aquaphor that Christine gives you on them to ensure a proper healing process. At about Day 4, large flakes of the pigment were falling off. I have pretty thick and dark eyebrows to begin with, so the patchiness that other people have talked about didn't really show for me. I've received so many compliments on my brows, but the best part is saving 10-15 minutes every day by not having to draw in your eyebrows. That time really adds up in the morning! This review is long overdue! I had my eyebrows and lips done with Chrissy (pre-COVID) and am so so happy with them. Chrissy is wonderful. I had my eyebrows done somewhere else before, and came to Chrissy to seek a different shape. For the eyebrows, she really listens to what you want and has a great eye for the shape/style/color and what would be flattering on you. For the lip blushing, she collaborates with you on color and I couldn't be happier with the lovely, naturally pretty shade I have now. I love that we chose a slightly cooler toned pink - my teeth look whiter! She evened out my slightly uneven top lip line, which is awesome! The lip procedure hurts A LOT though. Lips are super sensitive. If you have a low pain threshold, you probably can't handle this. You've been fairly warned. DO make sure you eat something before your procedure or, as with all tattoos, you risk passing out from the pain/low blood sugar combo. But Chrissy is super generous with reapplying the numbing cream if you ask and does what she can to make you comfortable. Despite the pain, I absolutely LOVE my results and have gotten so many compliments. I was actually thinking of getting lip fillers before this but loved my new lips so much after getting the lip blushing done with Chrissy that I decided I didn't need the fillers anymore. I'm so relieved to have found someone locally that can do my brows (I was previously driving down to the South Bay) and will not hesitate to come back to Chrissy for my annual touch ups for both brows and lips! I can't say enough great things about my experience with Christine. I had my eyebrows done three times in the last 12 years. The first one was the old school tattoo method which turned my eyebrows to a reddish color. It was then covered by a microblading procedure that didn't last more than a year. I had another one done two years ago that gave me a botched result (uneven shape and longer tails) that made my eyes look slanted and droopy. I was using make up to fill them in and hoping that they will fade soon. But I have a wedding coming up in Oct and I really want to look perfect on my special day so I've decided to research on the removal process. Many people mentioned the most effective way to have it removed is laser but I was concerned about losing my brow hair, scarring and pain!!!!!! I found Christine on yelp and thought I should give her a try since no laser procedure is needed and the price is fair. I have to say I am very happy with the removal result. She not only took her time and made sure the numbing cream was on long enough before the procedure. She made sure all the spots were covered and that I was still alive. The treatment took less than 15 minutes. I was given two bottles of cream and oil that will help to lift the ink up in the next two weeks. It has been three weeks and I am surprised that it only took one session to make my long tails disappeared and I still have ALL my brow hair. Love LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE my brows. I've had my brows tattooed once before and it has faded and it was also uneven. Christine took her time on checking out my face and drawing out the new brow shape. I was very worried because I wasn't use to the shape or thickness but she assured me that it will be great. I'm pretty scared of needles but she was gentle enough. She also warned me about how the left side tends to hurt alil more so that's a good note. I love how she rush through it and makes sure everything is perfect. I got micro blading, lashes, and ombre done by Christine. I did microblading first and she suggested that my old microblading fades completely out then to redo them. That way it'll show the strokes. But, since I'm an impatient person when I want something done, it means now! But she was sooo right, the microblading did not last long therefore she covered me up with Ombre and I absolutely LOVE IT! She really knows her stuff! She would give you her most honest opinion and knows what looks good. I was initially nervous at first when she suggested that my brows be thicker. She outlined how thick my brow should look. It's really hard to tell at first since it's not shaded in but given her professional opinion and work; I trusted her. She took careful measurements and made sure they were even. She informed me that it will take several times going over for Ombre but it was well worth it. I have low tolerance for pain but this is bearable and she does put numbing cream even between sessions when the numbing cream wears out. Once she was done, on man did it look great! I showed my sister (who would NOT lie to my face) said it looks way better than the microblading I once had. My sister also loved my new brow shape. I highly recommend Christine. Christine's well thought out, would listen to what exactly you want and also gives you suggestions. She would do her research by examining your current eyebrow photos prior to your visit so that she can discuss the options and what she thinks would be best. Now that is some service! The location of the her office is easy to find. There are plenty of street parking. It's attached to a nail salon and she has a room to work with you privately. Having had microblading done a few times with my oily skin, I was excited to try something that would stay defined and last longer. I found Christine through all the great reviews on Yelp and I'm glad I did. Powdered ombré seemed like my best option. I'll be honest in saying I was freaked out after my brows were first done. They were soooo thick and dark. Christine reassured me they would heal lighter and the thickness was more appropriate for my face --my brows were pretty thin from the decades of plucking. When I went in for my touch up 6 weeks later, my brows were almost completely faded. The process had to almost be completely redone. I wasn't sure I'd end up with the gorgeous brows the others boasted in the pictures I saw. Sure enough a few weeks later, fully healed, they are perfect. I HIGHLY recommend you to book an appointment with Christine if you are looking into treatments for removing old microbladed brows. Christine is amazing! Her passion and expertise really shines through her work. Not only is she skilled in semi-permanent makeup, but she also specializes in non-laser tattoo removal. I originally had god-awful, dark and blocky brows that was done by another artist. I thought my brows were a lost cause and I felt insecure about it for years... and I was especially scared that my brows had permanent scarring because it was previously microbladed way too deep. But with the tattoo removal treatments, Christine was able to restore the natural beauty back to my face and I am forever grateful for that. Every time I left the shop after a session, I felt more and more of my confidence coming back. Christine was always so diligent and determined to lift as much ink as possible - she usually goes over both brows 3-5 times each session. It's a bit painful but not unbearable especially if you request numbing cream. In the end, she was able to remove 90% of the pigment and my brows never looked better! Most clients that do non-laser only need 4-6 sessions, but I'm a special case where it took much longer. But regardless of how slow the process was for me, it's still 100% worth the wait.
