I paid $400 to get something I specifically said I didn't want. I've been going to JUUT salons over the past couple of years for all kinds of services. I've only had great experiences, but they were at another location. When I moved to a different part of the cities this was the closest salon. I trusted them, and made sure to pick a stylist that had years of experiene doing a type of coloring that I hoped to get. I brought almost a dozen photo references, including photos of what I didn't want that I've had in the past. I was very clear on what I wanted and didn't, but the stylist seemed annoyed. She didn't even look at the photos. Several times through the service I voiced my concerns that I wasn't liking how it was turning out, but she kept reassuring me that it would look great. She was super rough brushing and blowdrying that it hurt, and the result looked exactly like my "do not" photos. I wanted ombre, but got chunky, streaky highlights that stopped an inch from my roots. They weren't blended or even symmetrical. They were copper yellow, not brunette. I told her I didn't like it and that it didn't look like the photos, and she argued with me that it did, that I shouldn't have tried this when my hair was colored previously (6 months prior), and in fact she loved it. I asked if it could be fixed, and she said I could only do another gloss but that wouldn't turn out well. I was so disappointed and discouraged. I'm not usually one to speak up, but I was so upset about the color and it was so expensive I had to. I cried in the car! When I called back, I felt like I wasn't being listened to, was argued with, and made to feel stupid like I didn't know what I was looking at. I went through several people up the chain before someone agreed to fix it. She was able to squeeze me in the next day, and was so caring and gentle I almost forgot the day before. But she only had time to blend it out and tone it down so it didn't look like I did it myself. So while they did fix it, I am hesitant to go back. I know everyone has bad days and mistakes happen, but how can a senior stylist who says they specialize in something do so poorly and then argue with me when I said I didn't like it? It was like I was being gaslit to not trust what my eyes saw. read more

When I moved to Minneapolis from Chicago 6 years ago - I was recommended JUUT by a friend - and I've never left! The Edina location consistently has friendly staff and a beautiful, clean salon - especially during the pandemic. My 5 stars specifically go to my stylist Katrina - she cuts my hair every time and I have never, ever had a complaint! I have thin, wavy hair that can easily look drab and heavy. Katrina makes it beautifully voluminous and complimentary to my facial structure. Not to mention, she is an absolutely sweetheart and I look forward to our conversations every cut! Way more natural light and no more black hole of cell service in the old basement. I've only really had one bad experience where I was unhappy with results over the many times and years I've visited. Also had a snafu with scheduling and just don't use their only scheduling anymore. Otherwise it's been all positive experiences. read more

I went in for a color with Summer and was very impressed. They give you a head and neck massage with your choice of calm or invigorating oil. The color turned out great and the salon is beautiful although it's sad to see it take the place of Centennial Lakes Chuck E Cheese. I would recommend this salon to anyone. read more

Was in need of a lash lift and tint before an upcoming trip in February. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get in with my normal lady, so I decided to give Juut a try since my normal lash gal was unavailable. Scheduling online was chaos. I made an appointment and long story short, thankfully I called to confirm my appointment before going into the salon because my appointment never actually scheduled into the system. Frustrating to say the least. However, I called and was able to get an appointment at Edina Juut with Mackenzy. She was very nice and knowledgeable, however, the lash lift and tint only lasted a week. I was very disappointed. This type of service is not cheap. I get a lash lift and tint regularly at a cosmetic clinic and it always lasts a long time. I don't foresee myself returning to Juut for this type of service. The vibe here is very relaxing and calming. Definitely a spot to visit if you want some pampering. read more

My experience recently with Juut staff in Edina was staff poor communication. . I have never had issues with communicating with the team through the years that I have gone to Juut in Edina and other locations. However, when I called to cancel an appt on the 23rd of Feb. it was due to having Influenza A and Was tested on the 20th of Feb. I did reschedule for March 1 at 11 am , and thought I would be feeling better. However i was unable to make the appt and called Feb 29th at 1:30 pm, and 1:34 pm. The first time was to cancel. The he second time was to confirm if and how much I would be charged. I was told per my canceling again I would be charged. I shared I was not on with this Because of the fact I was still not Feeling well because of influenza A. Yes, i Am aware I stated that I am not contagious most likely at this time, but because of having Influenza A I was not able to get back to work full time as I have asthma and have been using a nebulizer and exhausted . I have an autoimmune illness called sjogrens. It'a going to take me longer to heal the dr stated because of this. At the time of my second call I was frustrated as there was no compassion, nor real understanding of the juut 24 hour policy. I decided to ask to talk to a Manager, and i Was told the manager was not available, and the he manager would get back to me. On a March 1st a manager by the name of Annie Called and left a vm, and she did have compass. We agreed i Should pay something as I work in a Service Business as well. I did not agree to pay the full amount and would pay half as I stated I would compromise per I had proof of my Influenza A test and asthma , and having sjogrens if she did need this as well. However, I was not at the time of The call looking back at phone records to know the exact time I called Feb 29th to cancel my appt that was be at 11 on March 1st. Annie at that time said she would look into it and for sure get back to me by text or a voice message. Neither was done. Before leaving work today I decided to look at my bank account . -#1 I was shocked that I was charged anything considering the agreement was Annie would Make sure she would communicate with me before anything was to be taken out. # 2 I was quoted 110.00 for my haircut, and if I were to have agreed to pay the full amount I have expected to pay 110.00. Yet, I not only was upset that Annie did not communicate, but 130.00 was taken out of my checking. #3. I was not ok with the staff Shelby And her tone of not also having a clear way If handling a frustrated cus. It's as if I had to spell out again what I just explained. She only said oh well you already talked to me he other manager Renee. Yes, however I was unable to be as direct. As i was still in awe with the situation. I said I was finishing up at work, and had a few mins to tend to the call. Plus, I said at this time that am not in agreement to pay anything the way Renee was going to think she could handle the situation: I said not only was she thinking she would do me a favor by reversing the 130.00 and I stated it was pending - meaning he money is being held- and oh I will take out 55 and you will have the 130 back to you. I said, was he bank is closed, and not only will I have 130.00 pending but additional 55:00 pending. I said you are not understanding means he fact that I was not even aware i would have anything taken out, and than you want to add more frustration to my account. I said thankfully I can figure some things out In regards to bills that are automatically taken out. #4. The whole situation is awful customer service and I was I told Annie aware I. Should pay something - but not the full amount considering My illness. Or I would have been fine paying and having the ability to use the service within a week. This is something I have allowed clients to do it sick - and the policy is to charge as well not canceled in the time frame that is allotted. My point I even asked if this could be done with the he manager Annie And ehe Was not open to this , so we Compromised. I agreed I would pay you he 55.00 since that Would be half of a ge 110 or what I was quoted for the haircut. Again no follow through from Annie In regards to the charge . I was able to confirm the times per my call log. Did not do this while her and I were on the phone. i am so upset at the whole situation. I will not be doing business now with Juut. The non follow button though messed up my bank account, and thank goodness I am ok. The staff was unaware of even why I was charged the 130.00 I was told by Renee another manager - I charged also per i canceled my color : The color was to be for march 4th and canceled The 29th.I have a dr appt. . This Aveda Salon is fantastic! Today was was first time at the salon, and I was thrilled with the experience. When you walk in, the ceiling is two stories tall, and so inviting. The front section has all the products and then the reception desk. Three genuinely nice girls were at reception, no pretentiousness whatsoever. One checked me in, and took my coat for me. She then led my to the waiting area where they serve you your choice of tea, coffee, or water. In the middle of this room is an elevator which goes down to the rest of the salon. Its cool because the floor is cut out about three feet around the elevator, so you can see down into the floor below. I was a little early so while admiring the beauty of the salon I also got to see 4-5 stylists and colorists come to the waiting area and greet their clients - again all so genuine. Paige came to get me precisely at my appointment time and led me back to her chair, where she asked me questions and offered suggestions. She explained everything so clearly and I instantly liked her. After consulting about the cut, she prep ceded to massage my head and shoulders with the most wonderfully relaxing smelling oils! It was heaven. Then we headed over to wash my hair. Normally when you get your hair washed, it's in one of those uncomfortable chairs where your neck hangs back. This was more like a slanted bed and was so very comfortable. Once back in Paige's chair we had some great conversation. However, Paige is the kind of person that you don't feel like you have to talk to the entire time, and any periods of silence were completely comfortable. Such a great quality! I just loved the finished result. She did such a great job and listened to everything I wanted. Bought some of the product she used in my hair, and she totally walked me through how best to use it. They get you checked in quickly, take you coat, bring you to the sitting area before your stylist greets you. Offer you a wonderful coffee! For me, it was decompressing and relaxing. I had to wait about 2.5 weeks to write this one so I didn't auto-1 star based on the trauma. The review is 2 stars b/c overall the feel of the salon is nice - I just had a horrible experience. Went in with light brown highlights over a chocolate colored base - they needed major touch up. Explained to Haley that I wanted to keep the same color and tone but just update. She suggested going one share lighter on the highlight to give a more golden color - fine. She was very nice and seemed to know what she was doing with putting the highlights in and pulling my color through. She washed my hair and passed me off to another stylist to dry my hair (I find that slightly annoying but not uncommon). So I get to stylist #2's chair and look in the mirror - good god my highlights are WHITE - like betty white WHITE. I attempt to breath and not panic. - think ok maybe it looks funny wet and will be better dry.......so I proceed with the drying from stylist #2....nope not better - white white highlights and the color she pulled through ORANGE. I promise I'm not being dramatic it was orange. So stylist 2 can see the panic and takes me back to Haley who looks shocked at my hair color. (almost in tears) I'm able to squeak out - it's a lot lighter than I wanted. Haley acknowledges and says she will fix it right then (phew). well she has her next client in her chair so she dumps me on the other side of the salon. Pulls color through my hair in an attempt to tame the WHITE. As she finishes putting the 2nd color on - she goes "ok so you're ok blow drying your own hair right!?" I'm sorry WHAT.... still trying not to cry ....I mumble ummm ok. Fast forward stylist #3 washes my hair for the 2nd time and asks ummm you are drying your own hair? I reply with apparently. She looks horrified and kindly says she would do it but is already late for her next appointment. I ask for a hair tie so I can just leave - I can't handle this anymore. Get up to the desk to check out - man behind counter says "ohh how was your massage" probably b/c my hair was dripping wet...... "Oh no massage - just 2 rounds of hair color in 3.5 hours" "oh do you not like it?" "um no let me the F out of here" other blonde chick behind counter offers to schedule me with another person to fix the color the following day.... let's get the straight you want me to process my hair for a THIRD time in 2 days... I say no...... Eventually ended up getting my money back from salon manager (who had to have me repeat twice that I was asked to dry my own hair....... ) I'm sure there are other good people but I'm not going to be suggesting Haley or Juut to anyone I like anytime soon. I did contemplate giving her card to a girl at my office who is a big b.... then realized that was too mean... yep it was that bad. read more

Well it's been 2 years since my granddaughter went to have her hair foiled. Within an hour or so she was in tears leaving Aveda. Why? Turns out she had 2-3 rd degree burns. She's been suffering with a PERMANTLY BALD CROWN OF HER HEAD. A Master stylist did this. What has Aveda done? The manager Heather assured us they'd help with medical bills. How much did they pay? ZERO!! Tomorrow she's having surgery to enable hair growth. Painful and expensive. She's 18 now and guess how you'd feel with no hair on the crown of your head. Aveda takes No responsibility for such horrible care. Don't be fooled by free tea or cucumber water. They do not take even basic steps to help this family heal. Yes 2-3 degree burns, infection, permanent loss of hair. They should feel ASHAMED! Do not go to this studio. I wish I could give zero stars. I was looking forward to checking out their new location in Southdale Mall. I scheduled a basic manicure ($30+) and a basic pedicure ($55+). Beware that their "menu of services" don't even come close to their actual prices! And their actual prices are nothing short of outrageous. Here's one example. Granted, this price list is for a "master" technician, but I am now cancelling my appointment based on what I've discovered. SERVICES juut sparitual for hands $55 balancing ritual for hands (basic) $50 shortcut hand ritual $35 juut sparitual for feet $90 balancing ritual for feet (basic) $80 shortcut foot ritual $45 $35 for the "quickie" manicure? $80 for a "regular" pedicure? I hope the $90 pedicure pays for a little somethin' somethin' because that is a helluva lot of money. read more

I've been going to Juut at least once a year for awhile now. Mostly because my mother-in-law was told I get my hair cut there like, 5 years ago. So now every year she gives me a $100 gift card to Juut for Christmas. I'm not an Aveda product groupie (i love the smells, but find other products that work better) and am too much of a wuss (or maybe just grateful for any gift and too polite?) to speak up and say "Hey, I'm not nuts about Juut. Can I just get cash?" Now that I sound like an ungrateful hag, I'll get to the review... I scheduled a much-needed hair cut and massage for a Friday night. The girl who cut my hair was pretty quiet. We chatted a little but for the most part sat in silence. She washed and cut my hair, commenting she'd look it over dry and "clean up" the cut. Once my hair was blown dry haphazardly - not styled or straightened or anything - she started cutting again. I knew I was in trouble. She went to town on my hair. Granted I hadn't had a haircut since the fall (I think) but when she finally put down the scissors, I felt bald. We had agreed on cutting off a half inch! She walked me back to the seating area and started talking to her next customer right away. It felt awkward and hurried (and cold, since I'm practically bald). Then it turned out whoever scheduled my appointments set them up wrong (I had a feeling this was going to be the case when it took me 20 minutes to schedule my appointment over the phone). They didn't realize I was sitting there waiting until I walked up to the desk and wondered why I was still sitting there 20 minutes after scheduled massage time. The masseuse was a total sweetheart though and she did a great job. I had a lot of tension to get worked out...being BALD and all. So 4 stars for the massage and 2 stars for the cut. Seriously not getting my hair cut there again. Ever. read more

I see Rae (waxing), Callan (cut) and Amy (color). These women are fabulous! Great at their jobs, they make me feel comfortable, they are always happy to see me and they always provide me with great services. The whole Juut "experience" is great - from the tea and cucumber water, to the scalp and shoulder massage - it's all fantastic and so much more relaxing than a quick salon experience. I am a fan of Aveda products, so the smell doesn't bother me at all. (I am confused why people would go to Juut if they dislike Aveda products...) The reception staff has been hit and miss. They are getting better - generally - but I am still a bit bitter over some mistakes made with the appointments I had booked for my maid of honor and I for my wedding. There were a few very rude staff members that I haven't seen in a while, I am hoping that they either left or were asked to leave. If you don't like serving people, perhaps you shouldn't work as a receptionist? Just an idea... My last few check in/out experiences have been very nice, though. Wish I had names of the employees to give them kudos! I was not impressed with the manicure or pedicure that I received at Juut.. They didn't last nearly as long as the $20 nail shop mani/pedis that I get on occasion. I can't remember if they use OPI polish or the more natural/organic polish line that they sell.. The salon itself is beautiful. I love that you can lay down on the benches for the shampoo - I was a bit surprised and unsure about it the first time, but I quickly learned to enjoy them. It's much more comfortable than the standard salon chair shampoo with your neck cranked back. The place is bright, the orchid pictures on the wall are pretty, there is always a great selection of magazines to read. I am fiercely loyal to the women that I see at Juut, but I wouldn't complain if the prices were lower. I will give up breakfast and maybe lunch to continue my salon rituals, but unfortunately that won't be very healthy. I realize that they work hard, go through a lot of advanced training and are GREAT at their jobs... but I don't know that I can continue to see them when/if prices go up another time or two. This makes me very sad. The whole Juut/Aveda experience is fantastic and very pampering and to a degree you pay for that, but I don't know that I can continue to pay that if the prices increase. I think that Juut is on average more expensive than any other high end salons. So, my breakdown. 4-5 stars for Rae, Callan and Amy. These women are great - they are in the right career and it shows. 2-3 stars for the reception staff. 2 stars for the price. read more

I ditched Juut like a bad habit after being a customer for 2 years. I had a separate girl doing my color from my cut. Both were great... color specialist was on the quiet side but did a nice job, and the girl who handled my cut was so cute and sweet. So why would I leave... I'll give the most obvious reasons. Before they moved to Southdale, the experience wasn't as cold and impersonal, but once they got out there, I felt like I was being shuffled along an assembly line. So really, if your hair looks good, should this really matter? The deal breaker was that they raised prices twice in one year without EVER telling me before I actually paid (when I booked my services would have been nice). And I don't think my hair changed that drastically over the 2 years I went there... I am a person who likes another's perspective on how I can change things up with my hair and regularly ask for input, look at pictures, etc. I'm paying because you're an expert, right? Back to the prices. When I started going, it was around $140 for the cut and color. Then it went up to $160. Hmmm. I think I saw something about Aveda's new employee benefits, so whatever. The day I went in and the bill was $200, I swore I'd never go back and let them know I'd call back if I was interested. I'm not. I'm not interested in paying $200 for a haircut in Minneapolis when my hair looks the same every time and, other than the fact that I love the smell of Aveda products, I don't enjoy my experience at the salon/spa. Sorry, Juut. Outrageous prices + unremarkable hair = I found a new salon. read more

If you're low on money never go here!! I'm a guy so I have short hair and just wanted a couple strands in the front of my hair highlighted, you could say I wanted "frosted tips". They tried to charge me $155!! I got the same procedure done at crossings barber and salon for $20! That price difference is straight up ridiculous, also the lady at crossings said that we ended up using more than $20 worth of due but since we talked about it over the phone and agreed on $20 she charged $20 which led me to give a greater tip. This may sound like I'm advertising crossings but I'm not, I'm trying to make a point that this is NOT the place to go. read more

I've been going to Aveda salons and Juut on and off for 20 years. I've had no real complaints in all these years. I'd say that the atmosphere is nice but not always super friendly from the reception staff, yet professional. They don't do much for loyal customers which is disappointing. For me it's more about the hair and the service. Now about the service, I've gone to Christine at Juut Edina for 6 years and her prices have gone up about 40%. I'm struggling like everyone else during these tough times. But her haircuts are still a great value. If she was in NY or LA I know she could charge $500 for her cuts, she's that good. I've never had a bad cut, I've never even had just an ok cut. Christine knocks it out of the park every time. She must never leave! read more

I have been going to Juut Edina for about 2 years now. Started seeing Kaitlin S, she does my color. We have developed a wonderful "hair" relationship (also helps that we are friends). She listens and understands what I am looking for, and always manages to go above and beyond my expectations. She does impeccable balayage color and natural looking tint. With her help, I have developed the most beautiful balayage with a lot of depth, on my dark brown hair. She has really helped me to love my hair again, and appreciate treating myself! I get compliments all the time which is also a plus. Recently Kaitlin connected me with Kimberly S to find the perfect cut. I really wanted to take the plunge and get bangs again for the first time since I was a kid! Kim was great, she is super friendly and we found that we actually have a lot in common! So immediately I knew it was a good match. Not to mention the bang cut she gave me was gorg! Kim's bang cutting skills are incredible. Shawn Hass at Juut Southdale is my homegirl for brow waxing. She's funny, sweet and excellent at shaping and sculpting those unruly, unwanted eyebrow hairs. Without her I would probably look like a cavewoman. I've also had very relaxing and rejuvenating facials given by her here, as well. Calming music. Natural scents. Fresh, dewey skin. Heaven... Of course, it's a pretty penny and not very convenient for me to go here. However, I love feeling like a lady. They always take your coat and offer you cucumber water. What an amazing first experience at Juut Salon Spa! I walked in at 10 am on Monday morning not expecting to get in last minute for a cut. I was pleasantly surprised when the friendly staff told me I could be seen and I had a couple options for stylists. I chose to go with a newer stylist, her name is Katrina. Wow, she did a fantastic job and was as very kind, stylish and really knows her trade. I showed her a picture of an graduated bob and asked if she thought she could duplicate it. Katrina happily said she could handle it and agreed that my hair texture would work for this cut. She spent a long time with me and made sure I was happy with the cut and finishing style. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a new stylist, and I will be back to see her again. read more

First time visiting this spa last weekend. I get frequent massages, however my previous masseuse had quit a few years back and none of my subsequent visits at other spas were nearly as good as her. However, I have now found someone better than her, Kelly at the Juut Southdale location! I went in with specific requests, and Kelly listened very closely and discerned what my issues were, and knew exactly how to get the knots out. She even managed it while being more gentle than my previous masseuse had been. I think it was probably the best massage I have ever gotten! I will definitely be visiting Kelly in the future. read more

I'd like to give Juut Edina a better review because the stylist was so nice, but I just can't. First, I was kept waiting 45 minutes for my appointment. Second, the cut and color I received was professional, but sort of odd. When I arrived at dinner that night with 7 friends and family, the reaction was stunned silence. Okay, so that is partly my fault; I wanted to see what the stylist would do, and gave her carte blanche to do her thing, and that was the result. Third, as I was trying to get out of there, I was pushed to buy product. I gave in and bought something for $30; it turns out to be available at Nordstrom (and you know how bad department store markups are) for $28, and on Amazon for $25. I was also pushed to leave a gratuity. All considered, I won't be back. read more
