After having given part of my paycheque to the M&M's store at Mall of America on my recent trip, I saw this Ulta Beauty store. I normally visit this store in a plaza. It was my first time seeing it in a major mall. I had to check it out. This store is bright and cheerful. Staff are friendly, but don't follow you around and ask if you need any help. If you have a question, there are many staffer to help you out, which I like. It's set up like most Ulta Beauty stores. There's a huge section for makeup. Whether you are new or experienced to applying makeup, you can find every product for every skin type. There are also staffers who can help you out with skin shades and product information. I tend to hit a few areas. I do like the Philosophy line of products. I like its shower gels and face masks. The store has the most extensive Batiste dry shampoo that I have ever seen. It puts the Shoppers Drug Mart display of Batiste to shame. I also like looking at nail polish and nail care at this store. From traditional bottles of polish, to nail strips that you file down, you can find everything here. I didn't buy anything because I did a lot of damage at the M&M's store. However, I enjoyed browsing at this store and liked what I saw for my next purchase here. It's located on the second floor of the mall by the rotunda. LOVE this Ulta location. I took my daughter and nieces here as their Christmas gift and we all had a great time. Kelly was working the MAC counter and gave each girl a complimentary make up lesson. Then each girl enjoyed shopping for beauty supplies as their Christmas gifts. We had Kelly's help last year, and the girls loved her service and expertise so much, that they asked for her again this year. Kelly was excellent, she was so kind, cheerful and chose age appropriate looks that highlighted each girl's individual beauty. The store is clean, brightly lit, organized, and well stocked with my favorite beauty products and brands. The aisles are wide and there are no obstacles though would limit accessibility. read more

This ULTA location in the mall of America would not let me purchase my items without inputting my phone number. I continued to tell the cashier that I did not want to sign up for rewards program and she kept saying that it was a requirement to make any purchase. I said 8 times that I did not want to sign up and in the end, she said that I couldn't purchase the products and would have to leave. Which I did. I read the policy once I got home because I was baffled at how rude this girl was. read more

First off, I am a HUGE fan of Ulta. I've turned friends into fans over Sephora and have always paid the highest compliments when they are due. That being said, the service I received 2 weeks ago at the Richfield, MN (Mall of America) store was beyond terrible. I dragged my poor husband through that store, picked the items I needed, and headed to the checkout as quickly as possible. It should've been a quick stop for some restocking and a couple of gifts - BOY, was I wrong! The line itself was long, but I get that. It's the holiday season, so I can wait. But once I got to the register, the gift items didn't ring up at the 40% discount the shelf stated. The associate first wanted us to go find the price, then called to have someone else do it. Finally, the cashier next to her said that it was ringing up incorrectly and that we did get 40% off. Great. But only the manager can make that adjustment. Fortunately for us, the manager was 2 registers away helping another customer. Unfortunately for us, she had ZERO interest in stepping over to help, even when the guest she was helping ended up debating which items they actually wanted/needed... for 25 minutes. So, there we stood for 25 minutes, stuck at the register because all I needed was 40% off body scrub. The cashier just kept apologizing and the manager wouldn't even look our way. Apparently, there is no other manager in the store? Or nobody could switch out WITH the manager so she could do her real job? Regardless, we wasted a significant amount of time for absolutely no reason. When she finally DID come over, she refused to make eye contact with my husband or myself. She didn't offer an apology or even an explanation for why we had to wait so long. I've worked retail for many years and never would I let a customer leave without creating some sort of solution, or at the very least apologize. I have never had an experience like this at any Ulta. Honestly, I was very excited for the new Ulta at MOA (I always felt guilty browsing Sephora when I'm at the mall), but after this experience, I will not be returning. read more

Woman who helped pick foundation did not care what shade matched my skin. She took 2 different shades (one was a pale shade and one had more yellow tint to it) and she said they both were perfect. Huh?? They are 2 different colors, how could they both be perfect? I ended up choosing the wrong color because I had to decide myself which "perfect" color actually matched my skin better. I'm not an expert whatsoever so I left with the wrong color. Not helpful at all. read more

OMG this store is amazing!! As a flagship store they carry more brands than the other locations. The store is bright, beautiful, and when I'm in there I am like a kid in a candy store. So much pretty stuff! The staff is friendly too. Premium make up such as MAC, Urban Decay, Becca, It Cosmetics, Stila, and more. They also have drugstore makeup, nail polish, perfume, a salon and more. I have been to the salon here as well. The guy was nice and did a good cut. The only thing I hate is that they always straighten my hair. I got like 10 inches cut off and even talked about how this would bring out more curls. Then, like every other place I've gone, they straighten it when they're done, I leave look like a news anchor. One more thing. I can not seem to find a stylist who knows "Bettie bangs". I'll try to explain blunt, straight bangs that hit above my eyebrows. Some day I will find that stylist who knows what's up. All righty then. Rant over. This Ulta is the best. I could easily spend $1000 in there, with all the cool stuff they have. The premium makeup is really great. I came here with my girlfriend last week. She loves ulta but we had the worst experience ever. It Was really slow yet no one asked if we needed help they instead stood around talking. Then we asked for help the person I found out later was the store manager Jessica , was not friendly made us feel like we were putting her out and was actually rushing through the whole transaction you could tell she was just trying to get it over with. And on top of it suggested the wrong thing for my girlfriend obviously wasn't listening.Don't come here and waste your money or time bad customer service and after meeting the store manager can see why the employees are the way they are . I'm in town for work and was in desperate need of some self care. So I booked online and wound up getting Amy as my stylist. She is so awesome and has a great personality to go with it. When it comes to just allowing a free thought to happen, I had no worries. With being a platinum member of the Ultamate rewards program, it means I have spent enough time and money going to Ulta. When walking in I was greeted immediately and the workers were so friendly! I was excited to get my hair done, as I booked my appointment with Sophie a week ago. It was perfect timing, a day before my trip. Come to find out, last minute she wasn't coming in for the day. Kind of frustrated that I rushed over and woke up excited for this day, the customer service given back is the only reason why I'm giving the 4 stars. They were very apologetic and offered to help me find an appointment for the same day at different locations! I wish I had a name for both of the wonderful gals who helped me. Can I give this place a million stars?? The store is huge and full of so many goodies my eyes didn't know where to stop. So many Christmas sales as well, I bought a lot of my presents here! I had some extra time and decided to stop by the MAC table at the front of the store and was offered a free makeup demo. I decided I wanted to get bright and fun eyeshadow demo. The lady was SO SWEET! It's like the type of person you'd want to be best friends with. I only had my eyebrows done that morning (lazy, right??) and she did my eyeshadow and then the rest of my face (foundation, powder, bronzer, highlighter, mascara, lipstick) and GIRRLLLLLL I looked SO good! And it was all FREE!! It's like the type of makeup I would wear to prom and she did it all in like 15 minutes and it looked amazing! I'm so impressed by this place! I was honestly waiting for her to be like "haha! I tricked you! Pay me $30 immediately" but she just told me that she had fun playing with my face. The staff at this location is so incredibly rude! It's almost as if being snotty is a prerequisite to work here. I am never greeted when I walk in, despite employees looking right at me entering and they're stood at the door. doesn't matter what you're wearing, how done up you are or are not, how much money you spend: they are RUDE all the same and plain ol' catty. Whenever I ask for help, the staff is UNHELPFUL and act inconvenienced. I have better luck finding things on my own and I've noticed that the nicer employees never stay long. Must not be a very fun work environment, hm! Oh and good luck getting your birthday "gift" if you miss the month because they have gotten all stingy about that. They will tell you that you can only get it during your birthday month and act like it is coming out of their paycheck personally, lol. Why even /bother/ with the standoffish, unhelpful, rude staff at Ulta location at MOA when you can go to Sephora (right next to Macy's) where everyone is way sweeter, more than happy to help and spend basically the same amount of money but leave with a much better taste in your mouth. I'm done shopping here and I have been an Ulta customer for 13+ years but this location does not provide a comfortable shopping experience at all. Love the way it's laid out and they have a great selection of products. The store at MOA is particularly large. Things they could do better: clearance items should be showcased and more accessible. It's almost like they're trying to hid them at this store. Prices may not be the best, but you can always use it as a place to see / test products and buy online. read more

I'm a huge Ulta shopper but after my experience today I don't know if I'll be back, or at least to this location. I purchased 2 items and one of the items said $19 on the shelf, and the other item said $14 they rung up to $23 and $15, I questioned the cashier about it and she's like I don't know, do you want me to go check... ok so she checks and someone placed the lotion in the wrong spot, and the lip gloss was advertised wrong. So she changed the price for the lip gloss. I gave her a $100 bill and she only gave me the cash back, umm hello I think I have some change too... The store is very crowded and with this experience, I won't be back to this location. read more

I am a loyal Ulta shopper and a member of their rewards program, and this was my first time at the Mall of America location. The staff on the floor was friendly and answered all of my questions; however, when I went to go check out the cashier named Lauren was extremely rude. I consider myself a nice and patient person, but the entire encounter she was very snippy with me. When I asked her if she gave me a refund for a return I was making, she rudely stated, "Yeah, I got that, it will show up on your receipt." After I left, I noticed that I did not get my refund for the item I had returned. At that point I just didn't even bother going back to the store as I didn't want to deal with her.
