Red snapper

Discovered this restaurant on google and I was impressed. I ordered the grilled red snapper with salad. My meal was delicious and cheap ($21) The parking is horrible congested street parking.

The ribs are so good plus they give you bbq sauce

BBQ Pork Ribs French fries and Maduros

Decent food for a great price. Large portions.. had the pork ribs fries and maduros... something sweet, salty and savory... and my husband had a chicken sandwich. the service is a little slow but the people are very nice. The place was packed.

This place has had several different owners since Ive been in this area and thats only been about a year and a half. I only go here about once every month or so. I find it to be a bit expensive and forgettable to be honest. Although I do enjoy a few things here... The chicken salad is really good, the ingredients are always fresh, chicken well seasoned and its only $5 (the only thing cheap in this place. They also make great Paella with lots if seafood in it (even half a lobster) but this dish is $22 and its definitely hit or miss. It could be fresh and delicious or dry and nasty. So order it at your own risk. The chorzio can be pretty good too sometimes. They have all sorts or portugese dishes with fish, meats, and seafood. Ive tried most of it and sadly nothing really stood out.

This is what they deliver

The restaurant wasn't busy, yet the food arrived cold, unseasoned, and completely disappointing, especially for a bill totaling $110. After waiting 20 minutes, our server returned to tell us there was no pulled pork... at 5 PM... during dinner service. How does a smokehouse run out of pulled pork before the evening rush? It didn't stop there. We ordered corn on the cob, but was served cornbread instead. When I asked about it, I was told the cooks "it'll take to much time," so we substituted mac and cheese for an extra $2. What arrived was flavorless, watery, and honestly it was embarrassing for a place that used to pride itself on BBQ. Between the cold plates, missing menu items, lack of flavor, and the overall indifference from the kitchen, this visit felt like a complete waste of money and time. But wait it gets better! After receiving the check, it displayed happy hour! Happy hour? We weren't informed upon entry, as we exited I told my partner I wanted to inquire about happy hour. Would have changed our dine-in experience. I'm sad to say it, but after this experience, I won't be coming back.

Although it was a bit crowded at the bar, service wasn't too bad. However, one of the book club members specifically asked for a drink without alcohol and ended up receiving a frozen lemonade with alcohol. So she left upset. As far as food: super mid. I was actually surprised when I cut into my fried chicken sandwich and it was a bit pink. The chef himself assured me the food was cooked but it just had that color because of the brine. Idk sounds like they should change the brine then. Loaded waffle fries were also kind of gross because there was so much oil. Seems like it's a place locals enjoy, I'm glad I'm not a local.

The vibe is fun and family-friendly, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Inside, there are games for kids, making it a great hangout for all ages. I ordered the Pineapple Express cocktail, super tasty and strong! For food, I went with the half order of beef brisket, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The fried chicken was stellar, juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything was solid, but that chicken really stood out. It's located in Lackawanna Plaza, which has a trendy, up-and-coming feel with several other eateries to explore. I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu and maybe check out the rest of the plaza while I'm at it!

We lucked up on parking and found a spot on the street right in from of the restaurant. It's not a large space but cozy from the moment you walk in. The ENTIRE staff were friendly, attentive, and amusing! We had to wait just a few minutes for a table. The menus are so cute and all of our questions were answered. We loved that they raved about everything. We could not go wrong! Not many places I've been have a ground chicken patty burger option so I was excited to try it. They were out of sweet potato fries but the regular fries were delish! I love a homemade fry! I'm not a spicy fan so I had the sauce on the side and after tasting it, I loved it! I risked the spice (it's really not spicy) and added it to my sandwich. Perfection! To top it all off, the strawberry lemonade was just the right amount of everything: not tart, not too sweet. It was a little pricey for lemons are but I get it when you're squeezing lemons! Kai, the owner, was great! I love a black-owned business and what he has built is sure to be there for years to come. The entire staff were amazing. The food was so memorable. When I'm in Newark again it'll be the first place I go. I gotta come back and try the pound cake. They were sold out.
