Wasn't sure what to expect since this is a small restaurant inside a hotel, but it exceeded all expectations. The wait was a little long and I was afraid at first that this would be a bust. But the food! Meatloaf with brown gravy and mashed potatoes was so good! Fish and chips - had no complaints! Coke Zero - crispy! While they don't have an allergy menu, the server worked with us to find something that would work with our allergies. We purchased the breakfast package with our stay at the Avista. During peak season they offer a buffet, but this time of year guests must order from a limited menu. I'm not a fan of eggs, and unfortunately most of their dishes include them. The hostess was kind and friendly, and I asked about the buffet. She explained they weren't offering it because too much food was being wasted--I completely understood. The first morning, I wanted to order from the A La Carte menu, but the waitress told me I could only choose one item from the entire menu. I ended up ordering the "Early Risers" meal with eggs, bacon, and home fries. The only things I ate were the bacon and toast with jelly. In my opinion, the home fries tasted like leftovers from a previous day. Because we had the breakfast package, I spoke with the hotel staff. They suggested I talk to the restaurant manager. The manager told me I was actually allowed to order four items from the A La Carte menu, such as a protein, two sides, and toast. For the remaining mornings, I ordered bacon or ham, grits, fruit, and toast. One morning, I tried to substitute fruit for eggs on a breakfast platter. The waitress checked and said, "No--they're not the same price," because eggs were $2.00 and fresh fruit was $2.50. Another day, I ordered a danish from the A La Carte menu. It was so hard and dry it was not edible. My final morning, I ordered "The Carolina Morning," which includes two biscuits with sausage gravy. We had a new waitress, so I asked what I could get in place of eggs. She was very accommodating and offered fresh fruit without hesitation. However, the biscuits were so hard that even a knife couldn't cut them. When I sent them back, I was told fresh biscuits would take 3-4 minutes, but instead I chose to reorder several items from the A La Carte menu. The only items I can truly recommend from the breakfast package are the grits and the fresh fruit. Everything else was inconsistent at best. read more

Maybe something other than dinner might be okay. The people in our party of 9 who had seafood were ALL sick the next morning. My b/f and I ordered prime rib, which was not fresh. I'm betting it was reheated. We both asked for medium rare and received well done. The asparagus was good. My grandson said the cheeseburger he had was good. That was the exception. My great grandson ordered chicken fried steak medium rare, which was well done also. My sister ordered the fish and chips. She said the fish tasted good. So take your chances, but just don't order the seafood. I'm sure Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvine would have a field day to feature them. And, I wish they would. read more

Surprising delicious food for an "in hotel" dining experience! So good we went back twice during our stay for dinners! (The breakfast buffet served here was a bit disappointing and pales in comparison to the dinner). We had perfectly cooked steak, a fabulous pot roast, and a creamy pasta with chicken dish similar to an Alfredo that was mouthwatering good! The vegetables were fresh, crisp and cooked perfectly! The new manager is trash. Avoid the chicken pasta at all cost. You can tell a distinct difference when it comes to the taste of the food when he is in the kitchen compared to the Jamaican chef. I can't believe how poor this restaurant is! We ordered room service during the first night of a marriage retreat! It was supposed to be romantic and comfortable. I decided to go all out and order the surf and turf, which comes with "6 ounces of seared shrimp" instead of lobster. When the food arrived at the room there was only steak and NO shrimp! We called the restaurant and they got confrontational and said that we had shrimp. We adamantly told them no. Then they said they'd send some up. After waiting they sent up 7 small shrimp which did not weigh anywhere near 6 oz! I feel so ripped off! We'll be here for three more nights but hell would freeze before I ordered here again. Ate in the restaurant (1st floor), Just off Main, in the Avista Resort. Chef was running a special Prime Rib and sides for $14.95. Not bad but not was I was in the mood for. Wanted something light since we came into town kind of late. Ended up having fried flounder sandwich, my son got shrimp platter and mom got she crab soup. Jim E. the business manager gets one star for making false statements and contradicting accurate reviews by patrons. Don't say the AC was not broken. Your are not accurate. On the 1 day we stopped into the restaurant for breakfast, 10/9/21, it was way too warm in the room. We were told by the server, Hassan, that the AC had been broken for two days. In addition, Hassan was our server who never checked back regarding our order after the food runner dropped off the sub-standard order to us. We had ordered off the menu. Why should we be expected to go the breakfast bar to get salt/pepper, catsup and jelly? Jim E. should be reprimanded for making BS excuses for the Avista mistakes. Get out of your office. read more

I have been to this restaurant every year for 6 years and oh man have they stepped it up. It went from mediocre to amazing. The have a chef who comes out to your table to check on you at dinner. The breakfast buffet has quiche Yes quiche. I'm not going to lie the menu is pricey it was 48 dollars for breakfast for 4 and 80 for dinner for 4 but it was delicious!! read more

A very pleasant surprise. Our first night of three, we decided to stay in the hotel for dinner rather than go out in traffic. We ordered from the evenings specials menu - the prime rib was excellent, as described in another recent review and the southern fried buttermilk chicken with risotto, which I tried on a whim, was also excellent and novel with a burred of pecans. It all came together very nicely. Dinner was so enjoyable and the prices so reasonable that we decided to come back both of the next two nights of our stay. Again we chose from the evening's specials and we're not disappointed. Although it seemed slow coming from the kitchen, each plate we were served was attractively plated and freshly prepared. Definitely try the Charleston she-crab soup. Very delicate and more crab than we've ever been served in a cup of soup. The creme brulee and the southern bread pudding were innovative and delicious. Pamela was our server each night and did an excellent job of taking care of us. We appreciate her attention and knowledge of the chef's special offerings. If you're leery of eating in a hotel restaurant, don't be leery of this one. If we're back in the area we'll try some more of the dinner specials. read more

This is/was the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. Ordered our food and waited and waited and waited, finally after 44 minutes and watching other people get their food, I asked a lady , whom I assumed was the manager about our food, she apologized and said the waitress had forgotten to put it in. She said we were next. By the way this was afte waiting on drink refills for 15-20 minutes. Then after another 15 minutes the brought out the food for the table right by us who had arrived 40 minutes after us and orcelas almost the same food we had ordered! This restaurant is located in the Avista resort, where we were staying. We went for convenience one night for dinner,,and we're surprised by the quality! The fettuccine Alfredo was excellent, and the seafood sampler was fried perfectly. The breading was light, not thick, and not greasy. The shrimp were cooked perfectly. Nothing special but it was reasonable food at a good price with great service in our hotel. The Chicken Parmesan special was a great deal and the French Onion soup and Caprese salad were both tasty. And after surveying our post-swim late lunch options in the North Myrtle Beach downtown nothing stood out as being particularly better when it was time for dinner. I can't speak to the breakfast buffet since we don't usually do those. But if you're staying at Avista I wouldn't hesitate to grab lunch or dinner here. read more

Maybe they were having an off night, but my meal was not good. The "biscuits" that were brought out prior to the meal were cold and too salty. I ordered a Southeast Burger with fries. The bacon jam tasted like the bun had been slathered with some kind of super sweet maple syrup. The burger was overcooked and not hot. The best part was the fried egg. The fries that came with it were cold so I am guessing you see a trend here. My mom just got soup and liked it so that's why I'm giving them two stars. Restaurant was very nice. We had the Wednesday special of Prime Rib $13.95. It was the best prime rib I've ever had. The steak was big and juicy served with aujus and a baked potato. The potato is really baked. Crispy on the out side a fluffy on the inside. It came with veggies, but I had a nice side salad of fresh greens. Great staff and very nice atmosphere. We should have gotten a clue by the fact there was only 2 other people eating here at 8:30 in the morning. Kia our server did everything that she could to keep up with her tables and was very personable. The restaurant clearly needs more help. The next day we ate breakfast here. The service was lacking. My friends and I had an awesome experience last night at Just off Main restaurant in the Avista Resort. It was a birthday dinner for my friend and it was absolutely awesome. We were greeted at our table by Chef Michael Gadson. The presentation of the food, and customer service from the employees was a 10. The taste was exquisite as the flavors danced around on our pallets. So we came to Just Main, we had a great experience from Mrs. CJ who greeted us in to our waitress Mrs. Jari right down to Mr. Kevin who is an awesome Chef. Had dinner here and lunch during our stay. My husband and I had the prime rib special and it was yummy. The lunch was just for me, mama needed a break, I had the Cobb salad and it was delicious. The chef came by my table and checked on me, that sort of thing doesn't happen often nowadays. He was so sweet and sent me a wonderful desert.
