Dental work can be one of those things we'd like to put off, but you can't do that for your kids. They really need to get in a good habit early on with seeing the dentist regularly, at least every 6 months. I did that with my 3. My oldest started seeing Dr. Thomas at Just for Kids when she was 4 years old and I still regret not coming in earlier than that. The other 2 did start earlier. Kids need regular checkups are still likely to get cavities, but when you go to a great facility with experienced dentists, your kids are going to get great treatment. They probably won't like it, but they'll thank you later when they still have all their own teeth. My youngest is just wrapping up her time at Just for Kids. She was recently seen by Dr. Patwari and told me he was very nice. Soon she will move to Midtown Family Dentistry next door. She is starting to get too big for a kid's place. Don't hesitate to make Just for Kids your kid's place for dental checkups. read more

Front office staff is very kind and helpful! The ladies in the back are also great! I love that we can go back with our kids as well! My only issue is the feeling of being rushed by the dentist. He's very nice and good with the kids. But I felt VERY rushed to the point you feel like you are bothering him by asking questions. He was just ready to move on to the next person. We pay a lot of money out of pocket for dentistry, and we should not feel like that by a dentist. It is a bummer, because he does seem to do good work. My kids have been coming her since they were babies they get custom to a certain dr and nurse and that's the only person that works on my daughter. They are very accommodating with kids. Dr.Thomas Also has adult side in the same building. Very friendly staff. read more

I have 4 children of which 3 attend this pediatric dentistry, my 4th is still too little but will follow in dental care here. The staff is amazing! They are very efficient in the work they do caring for your child's dental hygiene and even the parental concerns that arise. Dr. Papwari is a fantastic dentist and great with my kiddos. Grateful for their excellent service and care for my children! Every visit is a good visit even when we may need to come back for treatment on a tooth. My 6 year old had a toothache and I called at 8am and they were able to get us in at 9:00am. They were very prompt to get her taken care of, very informative about procedures and were able to squeeze her in for emergency services to get a filling all in the same day. The office staff is TOP TEIR! The dentist talked with me and was even making sure my daughter was okay during her fillings. Every single person I encountered was so friendly and they made sure my daughter was comfortable. I absolutely LOVED that I was able to be with my child the entire time during her procedures. Terrible treatment and to so called owner was rude and wouldn't admit she was wrong about insurance.

This place is awful. It's called "just for kids" but they definitely don't know how to handle kids. My 4 year old had to have a few filling and two fell out the very next day. She had the worst time and was traumatized by the way she was treated. Just for her to have to go back a few days later because the filling didn't even last 24 hours. I made a complete about them not lasting and the office manager kept making excuses like "we don't know what she was eating, the food might have been hard" or "front filling tend to fall out." I got a letter in the mail a week or two later telling me "because of the breakdown between doctor/patient we are dismissing your Families case" So because I made a complaint, all my children have to find a new dentist. read more

On Friday afternoon my daughter chipped part of her tooth off that was causing pain. I had to leave a message which they called me by 8am monday, got her in that day and did treatment that day not to mention allowed me to be with her. They were so kind and Gentle with my little one and definitely made her first experience bearable. Our normal dentist couldn't get us in until next week and does not do same day treatment. Went out of town 40 minutes for a visit to Just for Kids and honestly so glad I did! From their receptionists who answer their calls quickly and are very helpful answering any questions, to the RDAs who take their time during your visit and do an amazing job to the dentist who did a great job also. Dr. Patwari Is the Best! I was scheduled for an appointment this morning for my son with Dr. Purdy and after viewing the reviews on him and his clinic I freaked out and did not make it to my appointment. I called Just for Kids and the gentleman that helped me over the phone scheduling was amazing! He went above and beyond to squeeze my son in to be seen for an emergency visit. When we arrived front office staff was nice and helpful all of his staff and the doctor himself were amazing! Very patient, understanding and helped me feel peace and comfortable. I knew I made the right choice coming here; also I was allowed in the treating room with my son. I scheduled a follow up; I will be taking my kids here from now on. I recently visited this facility with my niece. She is only five, so I was a little scared at first how she would react. Dr. Patwari was so good with her! He made her laugh and made her feel so comfortable. When he was checking her teeth he was also very gentle and kept her calm during the procedure. I would definitely recommend this practice. Absolutely horrible experience. We recently moved to Bakersfield and I chose Just for Kids Dentistry for my 8 year old. My daughter has visited the dentist every 6 months since the age of 1 and has never had any problems. On our first visit I was told my daughter needed a root canal as well as having 4 other cavities! They then informed me that due to my daughter crying they would not be able to help us, the dentist even said I was probably going to have to have her fully sedated to complete the procedures. Needless to say we traveled back home to San Diego to visit our long time dentist and was informed that she had ZERO cavities let alone in need of a root canal!! NEVER use this dentistry!!! read more

I have been taking my kids here for about a year now and am very pleased with this office. We always get greeted with a smile and all the staff members are super nice with kids. My kids were traumatized after going to Smileland for a few years so I had to convince them that this dentist would be different. Now they always tell me they love going to their dentist! I usually am very pleased with this dentist. I've taken both of my boys here for quite some time. My last visit must have been an off day. My children's appointment was at 3:15. Neither one of them was called back for at least an hour. They were both there for a check up. The waiting room was cramped full of people with all their children. It wasn't a pleasant experience. My advice is to make an appointment first thing in the morning, preferably when school is in session. Less crowded and you will get seen quicker. My boys enjoy going here and get a goodie bag when their done. read more

Took both of my children to this dentist office after having horrifying experiences with two other children's dentist offices. They handled my autistic son awesomely, let me go in the back with him, used effective communication. Much more successful than the prior experiences. Horrible office, Her gift bag had the cheapest tooth brush I have ever seen, no tooth paste and no floss. The main dentist looked like she didn't care about inspecting my daughters teeth or didn't know what she was doing. I will never take my daughter there again. Their waiting room was dirty. read more

Horrible experience! It was first and last time there . After waiting 2 months for my children first appointment we waited a hour before getting there X-rays done . The x ray technician was so rude and not friendly at all. My daughter walked out crying and the tech didn't even bother to come talk to me .After wanting to reschedule since it was going to be another hour for 1 of my children to be seen I would have to wait another 2 months. I took my son here when he was 3 , he had hit his tooth and killed the root . They did an exam , cleaning , X-rays , and filled his tooth to help prevent it from decay . They were very rude ! The dentist yelled at my son ! I am not kidding nor exaggerating , my son got scared during the filling an started to wiggle . When he started to cry after being yelled at the dental assistant threatened my son saying I would have to leave if he didn't stop ! I am appalled And disgusted at the way they treated my son . I had been taking my daughter to this facility regularly since she started growing teeth. On one particular time, I took my daughter in due to a toothache. They insisted that she needed a full mouth x-Ray (instead of just taking an x-Ray on the tooth that was bothering her) so I went ahead and reluctantly agreed. After the dentist was finished examining my daughter's teeth she stated that she had 6 cavities and needed a root canal in the tooth that was bothering her AND she just so happened to have the time to fill all the cavities that day! I felt so discouraged because my daughter also had multiple cavities at her previous checkup! After reviewing my daughter's x-Rays (which I could not see any signs of cavities nor did they show me) I realized that I needed a second opinion and asked for my daughter's x- Rays and made an appointment with another pediatric dentist. After the other dentist made full oral examination and reviewed her x-Rays from Just for Kids Dentistry he did not see ANY cavities and was shocked when I told him Just For Kids Dentistry stated that she had 6 cavities! I am so upset because I wished I would have left sooner and it leaves me to wonder how many unnecessary procedures Just For Kids Dentistry performed on my daughter! read more

I really do not like this dentist office. I have switched my younger son to Purdy Pediatric Dentistry and it is much better. This office traumatized both me and my two year old by throwing a jaw clamp in his mouth without asking me and then shoving a consent form in my face after the fact. Unfortunately there was no opening at Purdy to move my older son yet and he needed a kindergarten exam so I had to go back to JFKD and waited over an hour. The appt was fine if your kid is older and can follow their instruction but would not recommend for younger children. Also I do not like that there is a half wall separating each dentist chair. At Purdy it is individual rooms as it should be for patient privacy and for comfort of the children. read more

Took my son for his first visit today. The decor was cute which got him excited about going to the dentist. The receptionist was friendly, but the intake form was a joke. I had to get up and ask if these questions were about me or my son and she said they use an adult form but it was for my child. So I'm answering questions about whether my 3 year old uses drugs or has been pregnant. We didn't wait long and the dental assistant seemed nice. I opted out of the X-rays and just wanted the dentist to check him. She was not personable whatsoever and not child friendly. I asked questions and she seemed like it was irritating her but you can't just say I see white specks and not expect to be asked what that means. She claimed he had several cavities developing, but I expressed shock because we brush 2x daily and floss. She asked 2x if I really brush his teeth. I didn't have yelp before I went and was shocked to see how many other parents write they were told their children had cavities that didn't. I've been to a place like this when I was in my 20s and they tried to pull the same crap so I know it happens. His cleaning lasted all but 30 seconds. took my 3 yr old daughter here for a 2nd opinion. after taking her to dr purdy and them wanting to extract her tooth, came here and visit was great nice dr. and staff. they have a nice area for the kids. dr explained everything to me and the options. the best part is that they let you go to the back with your kids. my daughter had a baby root canal, and 2 filling done and did not cry at all... will definitely recommend this dentist to all parents :) ps. dr was able to save her tooth did not extract... may have to down the road but at least i know everything that could of been done was done.... read more
