Where do I start? As an influencer and former model, I decided to work on my teeth, which needed a touch up. I began this journey in my late twenties because my wisdom teeth had come in very late. I chose to work with Thurman for two reasons. First, there were free AirPods offered, with Christmas right around the corner. Second, I needed to fix one discolored tooth, which was only possible if my wisdom teeth were extracted and my teeth were straightened. My siblings had a pleasant experience with Thurman, while I had a somewhat okay one. It wasn't perfect, but any issues were corrected in the most professional way in the end. Let me start with the establishment. It is an attractive place--very roomy, comfortable, and, to say the least, very clean. Now, regarding the owner: I had zero issues communicating with Thurman; he's a very nice guy. However, I didn't see him often because he tends to every person there, which was fine. His occasional appearances did not impede my dental journey, as he provides the final evaluation. The finance department was very communicative regarding my payments and also quite nice. However, one day during a visit, I had an uncomfortable conversation with one staff member. As I sat in the chair during a follow-up, I was told--not nicely--that the Invisalign treatments would be my last new set. My year-and-a-half-long journey had extended to three and a half years, and let's face it, we're all human, and things happen. I probably had four to five new sets of aligners, one of which stemmed from a chipped tooth that affected one of these sets. I opted for Invisalign because I create a lot of social media content and work with major brands like Sephora and Ulta, but I must share that Invisalign is not for the weak. They are mandatory to wear almost 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, this did not work out for me. Because of this, I started avoiding my appointments altogether. My stubborn tooth just wouldn't budge. I went back to some previous trays on my own, as I had it in my mind that these "were the last sets of aligners," and I wanted to avoid any more uncomfortable situations. This was a reasonable outcome from my decision to ghost Thurman, but I received a letter stating that I needed to find a new orthodontist (no complaints). I reached out to the finance department because I had paid for my Invisalign in full and wanted to request a partial refund for my permanent retainer (the one you receive upon completing the Invisalign journey). I was tossed around on calls for part of the day- not long and eventually, I spoke with a very nice supervisor who had a heart-to-heart with me. She seemed to understand the issues I was facing with the Invisalign and my disappointment about having a stubborn tooth that just wouldn't cooperate. I was encouraged to come back in and not to worry; Thurman would take it from there. I had a very pleasant experience recently, and Thurman agreed that my teeth wouldn't require another set of aligners, as I had tried it multiple times without achieving the expected results, although I did show some improvement. I transitioned into braces almost abruptly and will now be on them for two months to correct my stubborn tooth. If it doesn't improve in that time, I may need them for up an additional two months. Fortunately, I'm not creating content as much as I was when I started this journey, but I am very satisfied with the level of care I received from Thurman, his team leaders, and how they listened to my concerns. Overall, our experience here was fine, actual dentist wasn't seen much. Staff were friendly and helpful. My daughter did have a problem with one tooth after braces were removed, it was ground down and bothered here a bit. I just wanted to warn anyone who was considering purchasing the "smile protect" for the fragile retainers they give out (won't last). I paid $800 up front for this, and I just found out they raised the deductible from $20 to $30, today when my daughter made an appointment to get her new retainers. This is insurance, I wasn't aware they could just raise the deductible whenever they felt like it, after I bought the policy in full. All my other insurance policies are very clear about the deductible I will pay, and cannot change that mid policy. This was purchased approximately 4 years ago. Be careful with the options and pricing when you are meeting with their "sales team", as that was very different about this office as well, I didn't know that orthodontists had sales teams, which made the experience feel a bit like buying a car. Prices can change and they do offer incentives and discounts. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place. They took my son's braces off, but his teeth weren't fixed properly. I called to express my concerns, but they brushed me off. The front desk staff was nice, but it was way too expensive for the work to be incomplete. During our consultation the ortho doc wasn't even there, I had questions that had to wait until the following day to get answers because he doesn't "really work in office" His treatment plan was almost $2,000 more than what I was quoted at the other office I went to. I really debating on posting a review. I spoke with an office manager, i received an apology that day. Honestly I expected more, even a follow up call to understand the concern. Small backstory. Yes, I struggled with a few payments due to pregnancy and loss of job but the office was understanding. The last convo was if I was unable to pay we could remove braces as an option. I did not want that, I wanted my son to fulfill his treatment. Since the beginning I was NEVER told my son was on the verge of "decalcification" Just to brush and floss like any dentist. We'll after a couple month break. We go in recently that way he can get his braces tightened. They took him back, took x rays. Sat us back in the waiting room for 20mins. They call him back. Come up to me and say they need to remove his braces due to oral health. Mind you previous appointments this decalcification word was never brought up, my first thought was due to financial situation they were pretty much removing his braces. I was like fine, since they said "the Drs orders were to remove". Still in shock, to me his teeth looked fine. I said fine to remove since they pretty much stated braces would make it worse. (After some research that's not the case) anyway. They did not communicate with me when he was going to get walked down and cheered for removal. It was such an awkward and uncomfortable appointment. It didn't sit well with me. They advertise such a HAPPY experience when they get their braces removed. I feel like my son was not given that. He was not happy, he even was confused. I didn't get to take photos or record from start to finish. (Honestly feels like his braces were repoed) I have paid soo much to not get the full experience. They did not fully communicate what was going to happen that day, but upon removal of his braces they made sure to pull me back to let me know how much my remaining balance was that person communicated that. After all that, fine it is what it is i guess, I did not get a final side-by-side photos to see the final progress because the doctor also stated that he was content with my sons progress and his smile. He did have them on for about a year and a half. Overall that last visit was unpleasant and unfriendly not compared to our first and in between visits. Everyone was so friendly enthusiastic. First visit with onboarding went very well explained on the process even during everything was thoroughly explained. Welp what they advertised was not what we received after signing on. I still have yet to receive the side by side photos from before and after. Which just disappoints me even more. But if I were to miss a payment I'm sure i would get a call. read more

We're still pleased with most everything at the office. My daughter is nearing the end of her journey and seems to be doing well. Hers is not a complicated case. Our very first visit as a family was probably around 2013. I was so amazed at the amount of attention Dr. Thurman gave each patient at that time and remember feeling that he really had his priorities straight. In the more recent years, the attention and time spent has very noticeably and significantly decreased. When I mentioned this to a staffer, I was told that was to be expected because he had increased so many patients it is no longer possible for him to give the same amount to of time as in the past. That is a shame. Clearly a shift in priorities. It's important to remember all the little things that brought you where you are today and not lose sight of them. I hope some of those things return. My daughter's most recent appointment needed to be rescheduled, and the I was told it was impossible to reschedule during that same week. In fact, the rescheduled appointment would have been another 6 weeks out. With a lot of effort, we were able to make arrangements to keep the appointment, but again, I felt there was little effort to help with even a small adjustment of an appointment time. Another noticeable change and indication of a shift in priorities. Again, we are nearing the end of our journey. I still recommend the office. We are receiving good care and results. Perhaps I would not notice if I hadn't been there in the beginning, when things were even better. read more
