Since the fire, they've shifted gears and have done so much great work to help the community: gathering and delivering literal boatloads of fuel, water, and other supplies while roads in and out of west Maui were closed and access was only available by sea....then, after the roads reopened, donating fish every week to households in need. They've also provided thousands of meals (under their Tails Up Maui operation) to displaced people and volunteers helping with relief efforts. On this trip it was reported that local fishing was slower than usual, and the demand higher. I tried several local sources and stood in line only to have what they had sell out before I could get any. My wife stumbled upon Fresh Fish Maui online and I wanted to give them a try. I had several questions and used the chat function on their website and they responded quickly and had great answers for my questions. I ordered a pound of fresh Ono and a pound of fresh/frozen Kauai Shrimp. They were able to leave the delivery at my condo in Kihei in a cooler I left by our door so we didn't even have to be at home, which was very convenient! The product was delivered quickly and was ice cold, packaged perfectly and fresh! We grilled them up and it was clear that the fish was incredibly fresh (caught that day) and well cared for. This deli is located in a strip mall and is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. On one side they have the ordering area with a beverage cooler, a display case, and hats for sale with their logo. The other side has seating and can probably fit around 30 to 40 people. For lunch on this day I went with the chicken pesto panini while my father went with a hot dog with mustard and sauerkraut. The menu described my sandwich as chicken breast, sun dried tomato, toasted pine nuts, provolone, and pesto spread, and my father's simply as sauerkraut and mustard. It was busy when we were there, so it took about 10 minutes to order and another 15 minutes for the food to come out. Since we ordered separately, my food came out first and even though I planned to wait, I had enough time to eat it while waiting for my dad's. The chicken pesto panini ended up being quite good. The chicken was moist and flavorful and there was more than enough cheese. The sun dried tomatoes added a nice pop of flavor, although I wish there had been more. My favorite part was the pesto spread and pine nuts, especially the garlicky flavor from the pesto. My dad also thought his hot dog was good. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my sandwich and my dad enjoyed his hot dog, so I would be interested in trying more of the menu.
