    Herbivorous Burger
    Thomas G.

On an evening where I just wanted to lounge around and watch college football games without going anywhere, I ordered from Jurassic Grill online via yelp with Grubhub delivery. At the time, Jurassic Grill was ranked #4 as I searched 'Beyond Burger', and it was one of the restaurants that offered delivery. On the menu, I was drawn to vegetarian options, the herbivorous burger, and the herbivorous cheeseburger. Out of the two, I ended up ordering the herbivorous burger along with cajun fries, and a canned fanta orange soft drink. It took twenty-eight minutes from the time my order was acknowledged by Grubhub to the arrival of it at my hotel. A shout out to the Grubhub delivery driver for making that happen in that reasonable time as well as contacting me rather than leaving it at the main desk with no contact whatsoever. I just could not resist eating the cajun fries before even taking them out of the bag, tehehe. They were so good! Seasoned perfectly inside of a cup which reminded me of the fries sold at Five Guys Burgers and Fries! Now as for the herbivorous burger, I could not help but moan after taking my first few bites of it! It was topped with onions, pickles, green peppers and barbecue sauce which gave it the taste that I love, * chef's kiss *. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from Jurassic Grill again when visiting Champaign-Urbana. ~ Good vibes coming your way ~ Thomas G

chickensaurus was good but could be improved, the bun kinda fell apart and was a little soggy. the trex burger was very good and well made and wonderful. the fries were well cooked, crispy, airy, beautiful. strawberry lemonade yummy. service was good. the ambiance would be improved with better music but the decor is really cool and i like dinosaurs, rawr.

I,personally, believe Jurassic Grill, has the best burgers in town. I've never been to their food truck but the brick and mortar, I've been to twice and enjoyed the food as well as the staff. They were pleasant and professional. My husband and 12 year old thought the burgers were good but not the BEST in town. I loved everything about mine and was absolutely stuffed.

We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich, and a Cajun fries. All were delicious! And the serving people were so friendly as well: we were honestly chaotic and unsure at that time, but they just waited in patience and looked at us with a pretty kind smile. A very good burger place to go on green street!

    Receipt

Placed an order by phone for pickup, was hung up on once. Called back assuming a connection error and was promptly hung up on again. When I picked up our order, we were missing one item, but nothing significant. However, written on my receipt on the order name is a very interesting slur that I don't think you're allowed to say anymore, but I don't speak Spanish much so what do I know. Burger was alright though, so there's that.

Great surprise!!! Loved the Dino theme. Loved the food even more. Best Chicago dog. (Bun was toasted, but great). They even took the tops off the sport peppers so you could enjoy them on the dog. The order of cheese fries was enough to share. My daughter said her burger was better than In and Out. Service was great. Very quick service.

The best burger I've ever had in Champaign, so much better than the McDonald's double cheeseburger or the quarter pounder cheeseburger. the burger is definitely worth the money, but I feel like there should be a combo of burgers, fries and drinks. Right now I have to order them separately, which cost me $15 for such a combo.

One of the best burgers in town. Thick juicy patty and lots of toppings. Fries and hot dogs are also recommended.

A glass display case sits empty at the hostess station displaying nothing but lots of smudgy fingerprints. A fitting analogy to the current Courier unfortunately. Patrons come in for lunch and wait several minutes for somebody to seat them. The service suffers from understaffing. I ordered a Veggie Dagwood sandwich. Remember Dagwood Bumstead and his multi layer skyscraper sandwiches?? Not here! This was more of a very dry bread sandwich. Where are the layers of veggies? The layers of cheese? The alfalfa sprouts? The sauce? My sandwich was served with a stale pickle. I asked if I could order a side like potato salad. They had coleslaw - $4 up charge. The place needs to be cleaned up! Put a little pride into the menu.

I won't belabor the point but the items we ordered lacked thoughtful preparation. The scrambled tofu was just tofu with curry powder. The veggie Dagwood consisted primarily of plain toast with little in the way of "veggie." An extra tomato and another dollop of special sauce (sweet mayo) would go a long way here.

I got the Italian beef with sweet & hot peppers with the gravy on the side (I don't like my sandwich falling apart on me) and french fries. My husband got the hot dogs, which came dressed with a dill pickle, tomatoes, and hot peppers, and a side of onion rings. We also splurged with the yummy-looking desserts (strawberry shortcake and lemon cake) in the cooler near the register. Everything was so good. The beef (which there was plenty of!) had so much flavor even without the gravy. The bun it was on was hearty enough to hold it. The hot dogs tasted good quality. The fries were good (not at all greasy), and the onion rings had such a good flavor, not overly breaded. The desserts were a perfect ending. The restaurant was very clean (including the bathrooms). There was someone cleaning something (including the walls) the entire time we were there. I wish we had one closer to where we live here in Ohio!

With it being one of my favorite restaurants back in Chicago, it completed my search for a restaurant. I ended up ordering online via Uber Eats delivery being that I was comfortably settled in for the day, plus watching college football. Portillo's Champaign had a 4.4 rating out of (1,500+) which was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience. On the menu, I was interested in ordering either the Plant-based Garden Dog, or the Breaded Whitefish Sandwich. Out of both, I ended up choosing the Plant-based Garden Dog, which is highly a favorite of mine at Portillo's. Whether it be Grubhub or now Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Much praise to the Uber Eats delivery driver, Alexis, for arriving with my order in a reasonable time, as well as meeting me in front of the hotel as requested. And Alexis also confirmed that it was me grabbing the order, which I cannot thank him so much for. My mouth salivated as I took pictures of my order to share on yelp. The Crinkle-cut French Fries were the first item I started with eating and oh my they did not disappoint! While my eyes were peeled to the Georgia Bulldogs vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets college football game on television, my fingers were grabbing French Fries by the second to eat. As a lover of the Plant-based Garden Dog, these eyes of mine lit up prior to taking my first bite. A bite that left me satisfied as my tastebuds were met with the delicious garden dog and its toppings while at the same time poppy seeds fell from the bun. I swear! I can eat a Plant-based Garden Dog each week and still be satisfied with it like I never had it before, tehehe. Now for dessert, the Chocolate Cake Slice was the cherry on top to a satisfying dinner ordered from Portillo's. I would be lying if I said that my mouth was not salivating prior to sticking my fork inside of it. And each forkful of that moist chocolatey piece of heaven left my mouth salivating along with a devilish grin on my face; there was no chocolate left behind, I swear. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from Portillo's Champaign again when in the city of Champaign whether it be Uber Eats delivery or takeout. More than five years have passed since I even had a Five Guys burger, which would have been from their Medford, MA location next to Wellington Station. Finally, after 3 years of living in Urbana, IL and splurging on fast-food burgers everywhere, the time had come to give their Champaign joint a try. Given how scary past Yelp reviews describe them, do they fulfill our Five Guys' experiences of old and carry on their reputation? The answer: A big, fat, dripping with cheese and fresh toppings, YES! Spacious, clean, free peanuts for the taking, freshly made in front of you, and served piping hot, we were reminded last night why we adore Five Guys. That burger, a cross between Culver's and Wendy's (by my quick estimation), was divine. Those cajun fries were as tasty and addicting as I remembered. The service, while not above and beyond cheery, was communicative and all that was necessary. Yes, they are pricey, but you do get a very filling burger with as many free toppings as you want. We also were given a bag full of those cajun fries, although we were spared extra regular fries we had ordered, oddly enough. All that considered, we are very happy to have Five Guys back in our lives once again.
