I've been here twice. That's right; I came back. The first time I needed a quick pick-me-up after a day of walking around Rhode Island with a friend. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Latte. The barista gracefully swirled icing into my drink. It was a really pretty. It tasted like a light, refreshing liquified cinnamon roll with a kick of espresso. My friend ordered the Flat White, which was pretty strong. The second runaround to Junk & Java, my bestie and I drove here with the intent of studying on a lazy Sunday. I ordered the Mountain Berry tea-lemonade hybrid. It tasted "pure" if that makes any sense. If you try it, you'll understand what I mean. It's light, refreshing, just enough sweet, and tastes like both tea and lemonade. The closest comparison I would make to it is Starbuck's Peach Green Tea Lemonade. My bestie ordered the Matcha Latte. She commented that it was also refreshing and smooth. Junk & Java is a cute café. They have an eclectic large-scale chess set, inviting all guests to give it a try. There's an assortment of Harney & Sons teas for sale along with small candies, bags, and shirts to name a few things. This won't be my last time here. I adore this place. read more

This place is the perfect coffee shop! Has a little bit of everything from Lattes, to protein shakes, gelato, coffee alternatives, health drinks, breakfast sandwiches etc...The atmosphere is cozy with great music playing in the background...There's a sweet sitting area outside where you can sit by the fire..And the staff is pretty cool. I always make a point to stop here on my way to the beach! Southeast CT is in sore need of small-town coffee shops, and since this is right over the border I stop as often as possible! Super cute cozy decor inside for anyone who would like to sit and relax, study, or socialize. The espresso is from a local company and is one of my favorites (I'm blanking on the name!), and their Chai is also so tasty! I had to ask where they source it as I crave it and had to buy some for home when I'm not in the area. There is also cute outdoor area for when the weather is nice. They do a variety of seasonal drinks which are unique and have been quite tasty. They also have a small baked goods section. I'm typically here later in the day, so the selection is small, but it's probably stocked quite nicely earlier in the day. read more

Stopped in here after an overnight stay in Watch Hill. A Yelp search had Junk and Java at the top of the list ! After sampling an espresso macchiato I can see why. My wife enjoyed her traditional brewed coffee with half and half as well. The place was crowded at 10:30am, obviously other patrons agree with the quality of the product. Yesterday, my friend and I were traveling from Central Connecticut to the Weekapaug area in Westerly, RI for a party that my family was having at their beach house. We left a little early so that we could grab coffee somewhere in the Misquamicut/Westerly area. We decided on Junk & Java on Beach Street in Westerly. I am so pleased that we did. I ordered a Spiced Chai Latte and it was honestly one of the best lattes I have ever had. The outdoor patio was absolutely gorgeous from the old door, to the brick wall detail, the wicker furniture and glass tables equipped with beautiful plants. The tipping point for me had to be the string lights above the patio. I can only imagine how beautiful it looks at dusk. The ONLY drawback is that I was unfortunately unable to enter the establishment due to their lack of a handicapped accessible entrance. I was able to get up on the sidewalk in the front, but they have these (albeit very nice) Adirondack chairs by the front door that I was unable to get past without being off of the curb. Hopefully they will fix that small issue, because I would be able to enter through the front door. The side door lip is too large for me to go over. I do intend on returning because the drink that I had was THAT good. Just work on making it a little more accessible for everyone! read more

Stopped in here with a coworker because she was raving about all the cute little stuff they had and that the coffee was so good. It is a cute little funky place for sure! It is cozy which is good but also bad because it felt a bit cramped when trying to look at all the cool "junk" and wait for our orders. Other than the fact that it's a small place I see no other cons. The staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee is delicious and I had a cannoli which was freshly filled and tasty. There is a lot to look at and it seems they allow local artists or vendors sell items there which is super cool. I also like that it's not just another chain coffee shop and it's a little out of the box with the "junk" side of it. Cool place definitely worth a stop in if you are nearby. read more

Curbside pickup is so quick! Love The breakfast sandwich on the cheddar chive biscuit, sooo delicious. Iced latte with maple syrup and oatmilk is my typical drink order and it's always good. Very cute little place. Today was my first time there. I have driven by it numerous times and always wanted to stop and just never made a point to. So today, I did. And I didn't know what to get because there was a good variety. I asked the workers for suggestions and they asked me a few questions and we came up with a mocha latte. I just got a small because too much chocolate doesn't sit well with my stomach. The employees were very sweet and helpful and the decor was adorable. Very trendy and hipsterish. But if the coffee is good, I'm down. I want to try their cold brew next time. That's the real way to my heart. read more

A coffee bar is a coffee bar, right? Not when you add in the personality of Michael, the talented and witty barista! The coffee and desserts WERE excellent, the ambiance was intimate (like a coffee bar should be) but Michael is what will keep us coming back. He is young, charismatic and charming with jut the right amount of "personal" and wit. I also enjoy that there is a loyalty card, this certainly helps. The fireplaces outside are a great idea! Although they accept credit cards, they only accept cash for a tip. This is my only "concern". I never carry cash and I feel that the owner should keep the well-being of her employees in mind. read more

We stumbled on this place yelping for a coffee while driving on I 95. While it turned out not closer to the highway as we hoped, the coffee was so fantastic it was worth it! We got Almond Joy and Snickers lattes, initially we were going to get them to go but after the first sip we sat down to enjoy them properly. The best coffee around! I started coming here when another coffee shop (in Charlestown off of route 1) stopped allowing cash payments and REQUIRED you to download an app. Not at Junk n Java! I agree with previous reviews about the qualiity of the coffee and baked goods. I also had a delicious broccoli torta when we stopped by at lunch time. It would be great to see more options for lunch, though....perhaps some wraps or sandwiches? Last weekend, we sat outside in the newly completed "patio". It was wonderful to sit outside in the sun and enjoy freshly brewed coffee and a muffin. The "coffee cake" muffin was served with freshly sprinkled cinnamon and was delicious. The patio has many Adirondack chairs which are great for coffee drinking as you can place your coffee down on the broad flat arms. The patio is decorated with burlap bags and and southwesterm/mexican rugs and a few iron sculptures....very pleasant! Looking forward to mamy other relaxing cups at Junque N Java. read more

Hurray! A coffee shop within walking distance of my condo. The owners are really nice and I'm excited to visit this place more often. I'm a bit of a coffee addict, but due to food allergies I drink it black so I can't speak for the specialty drinks. That being said, their iced coffee hasn't been burnt or watered down so I'm a happy camper. It is amazing how many places (ahem dunkin donuts) are capable of messing up black iced coffee. I'm planning to try their extensive variety of teas soon. For those of you who work from home or don't have wi-fi, this little shop seems to have a good atmosphere to "hang out" and get some work done.
