I enjoyed stopping here for a honey bee latte over the weekend. The wait on a Saturday wasn't too bad and the service was friendly. Inside is an old farmhouse and outside is huge with lots of seating. Don't miss the old military truck in the front. They have seasonal drinks along with a regular menu. They also had a lot of pastries when I was there. I can imagine it would be very crowded in the warmer months as it looks like a great place to spend time and enjoy coffee. One of my favorite coffee shops in Rhode Island! It's a small building with a bunch of tables and a large variety of drinks. They have different menus based on the season, but you can add cold foam to any drink. I ordered an eggnog latte with vanilla cold foam. They have a bunch of picnic tables outside with Adirondack chairs. The employees were friendly and welcoming. We went on a Saturday and there was hardly any wait. I have NEVER had a bad experience at a Dave's Coffee location. I travel down from Boston more times than I'd like to admit to be able to have a yummy gluten free donut or a creative latte. If you're planning on traveling to or trying Dave's coffee, I don't have a strong preference on either location. However, if you have the time or means to travel to the Charlestown location in the spring or summer, I recommend stopping by just purely based on the atmosphere, vibes, and service. The first location I tried was the Providence location with a friend and although I LOVED it, the Charlestown location is also near and dear to my heart. My favorite latte that I've tried here is hands down the Nutella latte, but the coffee milk is a Rhode Island staple to try if you haven't tried it ever. If you're going, go hungry so you can try all of their amazing goodies too. I really recommend all of their gluten-free offerings as they are some of the best i've had. And this is coming from a celiac. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough for a fun cafe treat. read more

Wow! What an excellent coffee spot alongside the highway in Charlestown. We went on the Monday of MDW and the place was packed. There is a very tiny parking lot, so cars were parked all alongside the road. The coffee shop shares a building with a small clothing boutique. We arrived and saw the long line, but it moved pretty quickly. While we started outside the door, it was probably no more than 10 minutes and then once we ordered, another 5 for drinks and food. Staff was ample and polite. The whole place smelled of amazing coffee. We ordered the following: Traditional hot drip coffee - honestly tasted bitter or burnt at first, but once it cooled down a little and you're a few sips deep, it was pretty good Cold brew with squirt of Dave's special flavor - very good. Sweet. I would get this over the hot all day. Not too much ice either Key lime pie donut - very sweet but excellent. Nice zest on top. Pecan scone - nice balanced scone. Not too sweet or dry. More cake like consistency on the interior Sea salt chocolate chip cookie - amazing and a must get. So gooey. Tons of chocolate chips but still nice balance. Very nice atmosphere and great coffee too. The staff was patient and kind, didn't feel rushed to decide what we wanted. The Lemon poppyseed muffin was absolutely buss down. The best coffee-I haven't tasted coffee like Daves anywhere. Located up an incline off of route one and attached to the beautiful Galapagos Boutique, Daves has been in this obscure spot for quite a while. On this visit I got a Vanilla Cardamom Oat Milk Latte and I wish I had a second one right now. Ive also had their coffee milk latte in the past and that is just as good. Quick run into Dave's before I headed out of RI, and it did not disappoint. ice lavender latte with oat milk (10/10): standard yet delicious! put just enough lavender syrup in it, and the portion was large. blind pig medium roast coffee, whole beans (10/10): genuinely the star of the show, I got these beans on whim because I was running out of beans at home, and man, are they good. I've basically gone through the bag within two weeks by myself. The cacao notes are strong, you can smell it when you open the bag and taste it every shot pulled. I will definitely be subscribing. As someone who has been to dozens of coffee houses over the previous few years, I found the coffee was really good, as I could taste the beans in my hot drip coffee. Their strawberry shortcake roll paired well with the coffee and was a an unexpected twist to the cinammon roll. I would definitely come back for more. read more

My boyfriend and I were in Charlestown today on a mission to visit the local library (we're huge book nerds), and I realized that we were in the same town as the flagship location of Dave's Coffee! I am a HUGE fan of the Providence location, and whenever I'm in a show in the city, I always stop at the South Main Street Dave's for a pre-rehearsal nitro cold brew coffee. I was thrilled to visit the OG Dave's today, and our visit was absolutely delightful! Word to the wise, it is a bit hard to find! There's no sign proclaiming "Dave's Coffee" that's visible from the road, and it's situated right off a highway, so make sure you're paying attention to your GPS. However, once you get up to the building, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the quaint and tranquil environs. Before we even set foot inside, we were greeted by plenty of outdoor seating at rustically mismatched chairs and tables, a cute fountain with Buddha statues standing guard, and a vintage 1940's truck with the Dave's Coffee logo emblazoned on the side. Social media influencers take note - this is perfect for photo ops! We so look forward to returning in warmer months to take advantage of the great outdoor seating and "secret garden" surroundings. The inside is just as adorable as the outside, with cozy and comfortable seating in a few different rustically decorated rooms. Like the outside, the mismatched vintage furniture and decor adds to the homey charm of this local hidden gem. The titular Dave of the coffee company owns the building, along with his wife, who runs a boutique that's attached to the coffeeshop. While you wait for your latte, it's fun to browse around and see what's in stock at the unique gift shop. Like the PVD location, caffeine addicts step right up to the counter and order creative coffee drinks, matchas, and snacks from the friendly baristas. Simon served us today, and he was awesome! One of the best baristas I've met in Rhode Island.. and pretty much anywhere! And I consider myself to be a coffeeshop aficionado! We decided to try a few drinks - an espresso con panna (espresso with whipped cream) and a nitro cold brew for me, and a coffee milk latte for my boyfriend. All of our drinks were excellent - expertly crafted with care and attention to detail. I especially loved the coffee milk latte. It was very sweet, but a wonderful homage to RI's signature drink. Kudos to Dave's for not only serving house-roasted coffee, but also house made syrups as well. I'm a huge fan of the orange fig syrup, which is the perfect flavoring for a cold weather coffee or tea. Yum! Of course, you can't have a coffee without some delish accompanying bites, and Dave's delivers that to the max! We indulged in a fabulous dark chocolate chip cookie with flaky Maldon sea salt and a giant sugarcoated Lemon Muffin made with fresh lemon curd. Simon told us that all of the pastries are made fresh each morning by their in-house pastry chef, who's a graduate of Johnson & Wales University (one of the US's best culinary schools), and an absolute whiz with all things sweet and savory! From cranberry scones to dark chocolate glazed pound cake, she really knows her stuff! Dave's also offers "Happy Hour" special from 5-6 PM daily, where all baked good are half price. You really can't beat that! Even though I usually try to eat healthy, the treats were definitely worth the extra calories! Though this was our first visit to the Charlestown location of Dave's Coffee, we will absolutely be back soon and recommend it to all our South County friends in the meantime! read more

This is a solid breakfast option for a quick breakfast near the Quonnie beaches! The regular drip coffee is really good and strong. The breakfast sandwich comes with egg and cheddar cheese and you can pay 50 cents or so to add a savory mayo or other sauce. The sandwiches aren't that big though so my husband and I each had a breakfast sandwich and then split the lemon poppy seed muffin. It was really good and fresh and not too sweet. Although expensive prices, the coffee and pastries are delicious. The blueberry muffin is fluffy on the inside, crispy on top and full of blueberries. I would recommend getting their muffins warmed up. I also love their lemon poppy scone, which is drizzled in sweet icing. After hearing so much about this place we knew we had to squeeze this in our short and sweet trip to RI for a quick beach day. We couldn't honestly wait for coffee in the morning since we had a 2 hour drive ahead. Of course, we gave in and hit up our local Starbucks before taking off. Right as we're driving back and saw the sign for Dave's and realized it was still open, we literally pulled a crazy you turn and skurrrrrt our way there. I seriously wish we would've had more than a 5 minute quick stop because this was totally worth it. It's one of those places where you don't need much to immediately fall in love with it. There's adorable seating outside where you can sip on your latte (or espresso), put your phone down and just take it all in. The indoor space is the caaayuuutest! It makes me want to pick up my laptop and sip on a drip coffee and literally just hang out there for a couple of hours. Definitely nice space to wine down and relax. Pups have to stay out so no dogs allowed inside. Make sure you're dressed and have shoes on as well otherwise you're stuck! I ordered a cold brew with vanilla bourbon syrup. I'm not a huge fan of sweetened coffee but i do have to say that it was a nice touch. I would like to order regular coffee next time. Oh, side note: THERE'S CORTADITOS AND CUBANOS AVAILABLE! So if you know, you know. Service was fast, there weren't long lines like others have mentioned that it can get crazy in there. We did go towards the end of the day so that for sure helped out. The baked goods are made daily and maaaaaaaaaan did they look delish!!!!! Next time I definitely want to take this place more in. One of the best places on earth. Truly a gem in New England. As a new york resident, Dave's is all I'm missing back home. Yummy coffee and a variety of delicious pastries on a dynamic menu. I come here every day that I'm in town because it's such a beautiful garden and shop. Dave's has been especially adored by my family due to its gluten free options. Both my mother and best friend have celiac, so its always been tough for them to travel or visit remote areas in which there are limited options. We began going to Dave's coffee when it was Blind Pig (we have the mugs) it was a spot, and a cup of coffee we looked forward to enjoying on our trips to Charlestown. They had outstanding baked goods, engaged service and it was a joy. Then the world caught on. Lines are long, barristers and counter people are slammed in a crammed space that was never designed for this volume. The last latte's foam collapsed by the time I was down the block. They've cut the once outstanding, and rotating selection of baked goods down to the crowd pleasing blueberry, chocolate chip and one I don't remember. There was a loyalty program that's been replaced with a prepaid card, no reward for loyalty, they don't need to anymore. I miss the morning glory muffin, the white chocolate chunk cookie, the bran muffin, salted caramel cookie...to name a few. I miss a latte that could make it 10 minutes. It's still a good cup of coffee and a good muffin. It's just not AS good as it was when they began. I know they'll never notice those of us who won't stop there anymore, success is theirs.
