Oooh, I want to say this place is great, because my child has told me of friends who had good experiences here, but... every time I've come with the express intent to check out the business, I find what I assume is the proprietor's vehicle parked in a way that blocks passage through the entire back line of shopping plaza. No cars can safely pass by. We patronize other establishments there too, and I can only imagine how many people have tried to drive through to find they have to reverse their cars and back out due to the Jr. Chef blockade. I've seen the vehicle parked here that way (see photo) on numerous, numerous occasions. It's just not good citizenship to park with such disregard for literally every other patron and business owner who uses that route in the plaza, and I just can't support a business run by someone that inconsiderate.

The beginning of the lesson. The girls had such a great time and make yummy sweet pea gnocchi with a herb bechamel sauce.

My twin 4 1/2 year-old granddaughters just got done with a cooking class at Junior Chef Stars. They had such a good time and made some pretty awesome gnocchi in a herb bechamel sauce, very yummy. All the chefs were very patient and professional with the kids. Each pair of little chefs had their own personal chef to watch over them and help them when they needed it. I wish I would have known about this place earlier. The girls wanted to take another class "tomorrow" which is the highest praise I can give this fabulous place. Thank you to all the chefs, especially Mikey (the girl's personal chef) and to Brian for creating this wonderful place and for making it a very special experience. Definitely, more fun to come. They can't wait until the next class, see you soon!

This was everything I could have asked for in a cooking class…read more The Mama Thai experience was a birthday present from my family for the four of us to do together. I have a decent amount of Thai cooking experience, while the rest of my family had none. Still, we all learned quite a bit, and had fun doing it! Jirayu has a beautiful home, and we immediately felt welcome and at ease. She's been doing this for more than 20 years. She and her daughter Saorise had stations set up for us, each with their own propane burner, tools, wok, and ingredients. We chose to make green papaya salad, red curry fried rice, and green curry eggplant with bamboo and rice noodles. After settling in, we started on the first of our dishes. We worked at a good pace, and Jirayu kept an eye on how we were doing, providing feedback where necessary. We made and ate each dish one at a time. It is an understatement to say that they turned out absolutely delicious! By the end of the first dish, we knew that we wanted to come back and do a few more menu items. Through each menu item, Jirayu talked about the brands she uses that have a more authentic Thai flavor. We talked about coconut milk, fish sauce, bamboo shoots, and palm sugar to name a few, and surprisingly some of the best brands were not Thai! She has also done her research on more healthy cooking, finding ways to omit MSG and unnecessary additives, and to make recipes more vegetarian-friendly. She herself is a pescatarian like me! One really neat trick that we learned is to use a juicer to make curry paste from scratch! If you've ever tried to make curry paste, it can be a long process with a mortar and pestle. I've take around 45 minutes to do it myself, and it makes for sore arm and hand muscles, for sure. For green curry paste, we spent probably five minutes using the juicer technique, and the results were amazing! We had plenty of extras to take home. Jirayu was also very generous with her time and answered so many of our questions. We even got to play with her dog, Ziggy!

When I heard we were doing another cooking class for a team activity in my mind I wanted to say not…read moreagain. But, Jirayu proved me wrong. Not only was her cooking class engaging, but she was knowledgeable, friendly, well prepared, had an awesome Chef's kitchen, and cleanliness was as important to her as it was to us. We came here for an off-site to do some team building like cooking. This is not my first cooking class, nor will it be my last, but this is definitely the best cooking class I've ever taken. And I've taken them all. I've taken Italian food cooking classes, dessert cooking classes, and your good old-fashioned American Cooking Class, but this one blew me away. I'm not going to lie, we had a busy group that had to take business calls and work inbetween cooking, and Jirayu took it all in stride. She even had a sense of humor saying we were the only group should have ordered three entrees without any dessert or appetizers LOL. Our first dish was spicy crab which was prepared fresh by us, but was chopped up and cleaned by her. Our next dish was the pad thai. Our third dish was chicken Pumpkin Curry. We were broken out in two teams of two, and each team would prepare its own meal. Not to brag or anything but we had the best Pad Thai, even the instructor said that. I also liked how the instructor accommodated a vegetarian in our class, and was able to accommodate people who liked Spicy Thai food on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being wild and 10 being flaming hot. For those who wanted flaming hot our instructor was nice enough to take out some Chili's to make the dish extra extra spicy. She told us she does this as her full-time job, and I support her 100%. She's an awesome cook and a great instructor. Take her class you won't regret it!

The dinner was hosted at our airbnb and she came well prepared with her own table settings and cookware. Her and her sous chef (her husband ) were so warm, kind and professional! You can tell Chef Monmon takes great pride in her craft and has a commitment to wholesome ingredients. Many of the herbs provided were hand grown from her garden. She also believes in providing clean meals. One of the dishes, for example, included green beans cooked with reserve osmosis water (triple filtered purified water) aka the cleanest most delicious green beans I've ever eaten! Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

The meal began with a refreshing watermelon and peach appetizer that was perfectly light and flavorful, such a creative and delicious way to start the evening. The paella was the true star of the show: rich, perfectly seasoned, and full of vibrant flavors that transported us straight to Spain. Ridiculous experience!…read more I was looking for a small item, found it several places online but Michael's was the only one that listed it as in stock. Great, I'll buy it from a brick and mortar store and get it same day! Placed the order and received a message saying they'd tell me when it's ready. 24 hours later still no message, so I just drove to the store thinking "surely it's out by now, they said it was in stock!" Item wasn't on the pickup shelf, so I asked the person working there (who was delightful and tried her best, 1 star review definitely doesn't apply to her) if she could help me track it down. She said the pickup orders being put on the shelves aren't really organized so there was no way to look for it. Great. Since the item was supposedly in stock, I asked if we could just go get one off the shelf. She said yes and went to grab it for me, returned 10 minutes later to say it wasn't there. I asked why this would be the case if it's listed as in stock, she replied that the delivery truck just dumps everything in the back and at that point it gets scanned as in stock, but that they have no idea where any specific item actually is. Great system! Finally gave up and went home to wait for them to email me, got an email ~4-5 hours later telling me my order had been canceled. If I had just ordered from Amazon the item be arriving around now, glad I instead opted to try to keep this disaster store in business. FYI something similar happened the one other time I shopped at this location a year or two ago, whole experience was a mess. Shame on me for thinking I'd get a different result this time, definitely won't be a third.
