This is such a fun and kid-friendly place to come in this local area. The instructions are simple: pick your ceramic to paint, select 6 colors, and sit down to start. They provide several different size brushes and have a great selection of colors to choose from. The inside is also spacious and open which makes the experience more pleasant. Only downside is that it takes 7 days to pick up the ceramic and their items are a bit on the pricier side. We painted a small ice cream bowl and that was $36. I spent a relaxing hour painting w/ my gf on a Saturday afternoon. There was a birthday party going on, which took up a full table. I don't think they have enough room to fit everyone comfortably. Since one table is filled, everyone is sitting with one chair or two in between. This leaves people to succumb sitting in the middle of strangers. Who wants to sit in the middle of strangers? Do you want them to hear your conversation too? Not me! For two paintings (depicted) it costed $70 total. I thought this was pricy just for two. There was only one worker working a full birthday party, giving everyone their paint, cutting the cake, etc. I thought this was pretty understaffed for the amount of people. Spent a few relaxing hours yesterday (Sunday) here at All Fired Up. There were three of us in our group. We were immediately welcomed and there was a lady with her daughter, painting. She was dressed like a princess and the mother and daughter, were having a good time together. We selected our pieces and then before long there were others coming in to either paint or pick up their glazed pieces. The two girls working were really helpful and very personable and they helped in getting the paints, brushes, and whatever, you needed. Even if you are a beginner, there are many tools available to use to make the painting process easier. The staff are always very attentive and sweet. I've been here many times with my kids (they like it) and I'm sorry to say it's a bumpy experience for me most times. Slow, begrudging service, kind of overpriced for what it is, stingy on paint (and you're not allowed to pour your own even if you're an adult and there is a line of indecisive children ahead of your family weighing their choices). My latest finished piece, a plate, had weird bumps on it that were not there when I worked on it -- looked like some dust go onto it before it went into the kiln. When pay $36 for the plate + paint, and spend an hour working on it, I think it's reasonable to expect something you don't just throw away. Also, don't count on your piece being available to pick up in the promised time frame, or at all -- twice, I've gone within the pick-up window, with pictures and documentation of my purchase, and my kids' finished pieces weren't there. Both times the employee just kind of shrugged and suggested "Why don't you come back again in a week to check if it turns up?" I guess they think it's about the experience of painting and not having a finished product..? read more

My experience here went from bad to worst. I had made a reservation for 5 pm for my birthday party. Good thing I got there a few minutes before 5 pm because the girl #1 working that evening said she was about to close even though hours are until 7 pm. She said when they called to confirm the booking, they had somehow called a different number and that person canceled the booking. I picked up the pieces after 6 weeks. Holidays were busy, and that's fine, but I did not get any call that they were ready like they said they would. I had to call to see if they were ready each time. Upon picking up the pieces, 4 of the 10 had defects including areas of missed glaze, missing chunks, and extra chunks. I went back after 2 days to pick up the pieces and 2 still had issues, so again I left them behind to get fixed (by girl #2). A week passes because I'm busy with work. When I walk into the store, the girl #1 said the bowl was cracked but not broken. The other vase was literally broken on the bottom which she neglected to say! She said it was a kiln error. There were 2 gift certificates left in the bowl and she did not know how much they would be for. I left to come back the next day with my friend who's bowl was cracked for her to decide what to do. My friends decided to get a refund and I agreed as I would not want a gift certificate to come back here. A different girl (#3) was working this day and she was calculating and collecting cash, at one point going through her own wallet. When she handed me a wad of cash, I asked if she could break down how it was calculated as there was no receipt or proof of transaction. When her calculation was off, I asked for a piece of paper and pen to do it myself. Then she handed me a $100 bill that was more than the refund and did not say to just take it or ask for change for the difference. My friend ended up giving $5 back for the correct amount as I do not carry cash and I'm not looking for money, just to right the wrong. I would NOT recommend coming here. There is a lack of proactive action regarding any issues that arise, and seemingly any adult workers. read more

Came here on Saturday 5/20 around 2:30pm with a friend for some relaxing afternoon painting. I appreciate All Fired Up because it's one of a few places in the Bay Area that offers this type of activity and doesn't require reservations/pre-booking. All in all, we had an okay time. All Fired Up has a decent selection of items to choose from for your painting, and the prices are written on the bottom. Once you choose your piece, you get to pick up to 6 colors (unlimited refills) and start painting. The thing I disliked most about our experience at All Fired Up was the service. When we went, there were 2 staff members working at the store. No one greeted us when we walked in or explained how things worked. We started ourselves by perusing the shelves to decide what we wanted to paint. After we picked, we had to walk up to the 2 employees (who were busy on their phones) and ask what to do next. That's when they told us we could pick 6 colors for our painting. After we picked 6 colors, again, there was zero instruction. We seated ourselves, grabbed some paintbrushes that were already on the table, and just began. My friend noticed there were some additional paints on a side table and asked if we could use those as well. The answer was yes, those did not count in the 6 color limit, and that they were for fine details/writing. We sat and quietly painted ourselves for about an hour. At a few points, we needed refills for our paint, and one of the employees told us to just grab the bottles and refill our paint ourselves. When we finished, we again had to walk to find an employee and ask what came next. That's when she told us to clean our own paintbrushes and swatches in the sink. I then asked where we should leave our pieces and what the next steps were, and she explained that we could come back after 1 week to pick up our glazed pieces. My friend asked if we could get a text to know when our pieces were ready, and the employee said "no, just come back in 1 week." All in all, we paid around $80 for 2 pieces, as there's a $9/person painting fee added as well. We were also asked to tip, which I didn't feel great about. Keep in mind, the store was not busy at all for the several hours we were in there. There are a number of small things the employees here could do to facilitate a more welcoming experience, such as offering to give a quick rundown of the process, suggesting which brushes/colors to use, letting us know about the glazing process, etc. Overall, if you're looking for a casual activity and would like to be left alone to do your own thing for a bit, All Fired Up might be a nice option for you. But if you're looking for some instruction or guidance, this won't be the best place. read more

I should have listened to the reviews. I booked an event here and painted 5 pieces; 4 cups and 1 small bowl totaled $228. The communication and pick-up experience here is lacking. The young girl Linelle said the pieces will be ready in a week after our event. I came back to pick up the items a week later and Linelle said the pieces were not ready and they will call me when it is. I called 2 weeks later and a young girl said the kiln was broken and the items should be ready tomorrow. I called back 3 weeks later and Linelle said the items were still not ready and they will call me. This is when I pushed for an answer and still did not get one. I left the owner a voice message, then Linelle called me back and said they found the items and offered a $50 gift certificate. I rather receive a credit as I will not be back! There was no gift certificate when I picked up the items. You be the judge if you would support a business where their items are expensive and the service many others have experienced. read more

I have been a consistent client since they opened in Burlingame. We have so far 7 pieces that my son has made in their workshop. They started really great being on time with texts to pick up pieces and then they eventually ended up not even letting us know when our pieces were ready. their customer service is getting worse. Recently, I called to reserve some time for my kid and his friends (4 kids and 4 moms). I was told if supervising moms are not going to paint, if more people walk in due to business purposes we will have to ask you to give your spots to others who are painting. This is a drop off workshop! The funny part is that every time I walk in weekend or weekday there is no one in there. I thought it was very rude to not commit to the space for us and tell me I have to give my seat to walk in clients if they come in. Someone else accidentally took my piece home! I felt heartbroken. The owner called me the next day and offered a variety of options, but ultimately the owner was kind enough to contact the other customers with the same item around the same time we visited. I had my fingers and toes crossed it would be found! After a few weeks I followed up and my item was returned!! So grateful for Nancy's variety of options and attempts to rectify the situation. The gal who was supposed to open up the shop was 15 minutes late - so we stood there with screaming kids trying to figure out a backup plan when she finally arrived. The picking out paint process was lacking - we could have easily done it ourselves, but instead had to wait for 5 kids to pick out paint individually. After 1.5 hours I was shocked to see her ring us up for $150. I'm not quite sure why this place has such bad reviews. I went in on a Thursday afternoon, with a friend and we had a blast painting our pieces. The rules for painting the pieces were on the tables and above the wall to see. The girl working was super helpful and answered any questions we had and helped fill up paint whenever we need it. It was pretty slow on Thursday afternoon with just 2 other people painting. Yes it's a little bit pricey, but I think it's typical of places like this, and makes each piece just a little more special, since it's something I won't be doing as often. It really hits you with a feeling or nostalgia and takes me back to those art and action days from elementary school. We stopped in completely on a whim in between having lunch and doing some last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve. What a fun diversion for an hour or so! We picked out a cat to paint in the same style as my own beastie. The young lady who helped us was friendly and quick to get us additional paint and colors as we needed them. There was a good assortment of brushes available on the table, so we had everything we needed, and the result was better than I expected. It's just a touch on the pricey side-- you pay for your piece, there's a charge for each person sitting to paint, and a charge to glaze and fire your piece. Still, it was sufficiently entertaining and the result was nice enough that this wasn't bothersome. Expect it to take about a week for your item to be ready to pick up. A tip: hang on to your receipt. It isn't absolutely necessary to have it to pick up your item, but it makes life easier on the staff doing their bookkeeping. read more

Went there for a party recently and the Asian girl who was manning the studio couldn't give two craps about what was going on and was spending more time on her cell phone than anything else. I asked her for more brushes and she literally sat in her chair and pointed, "there's some back there". REALLY?? To be fair, the gal who replaced her was a bit more friendly and engaged. For $25/kid, I'm gonna have a few expectations...How about a little instruction for first-timers? How about some aprons for the kiddos?
