We waited for 40 minutes to get some bread and maple syrup. Then we were charged an exorbitant amount for the bread. Our server had zero interest in being kind or friendly. We had our 6 year old son with us (who is very well behaved). The wait was excruciating. He really wanted maple syrup. This place is not kid friendly. So go to Tabac or somewhere else that loves kids in our neighborhood. That said the hostess who sat us was really kind. Too bad she isn't a server. The food was WAY overpriced. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this lovely restaurant. I know the location has had a few turnovers on its lease, it looks like June may be here to stay. The salads are very creative and the dishes are quite tasty and elegantly presented. They have an extensive wine list as well as a good selection of beers. If you can sit in the garden, my spouse and I found it easier to have a conversation there. I like June, and plan on giving this place a second whirl. This place is the bomb. Delicious wines and small plates plus a beautiful, dark and moody space with a fantastic garden. The food is creative, fresh, and flavorful. The gnocchi might be from heaven and the flatbread with chili butter - omg it's seriously magic bread.. For two people we shared five plates but they were all so good I could have had five more just for myself. Servers were laid back but attentive - perfect. It's got a bit of a Gatsby vibe, without the party party shizzle. Relaxed and classy. I think this might be the new perfect spot. read more

A really great neighborhood joint. I visited with a friend, who is thinking about moving to Cobble Hill, for Friday happy hour. The staff is friendly, and knowledgable about natural wines. For food, we ordered the fleetmoss and spring peas, both of which showed both a complexity of flavor and thoughtful approach to seasonal edibles. Came here on a sunday night a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the service and the food. Small tapas style dishes are perfect to share with a group of friends. Loved that our waitress brought over the wine bottles and let us taste it before ordering a full glass. She was really great and had awesome recommendations - too bad I don't remember her name. Great time here. Fun and different wine list. Make sure to ask the server if you are looking for something particular. We also had the bread and ricotta dip which was amazing and the pate which was also great! We had the vegetable of the day and it was very well done. June was wonderful. The ambiance is well-executed roaring twenties. There is a list of very original aperitifs. Every plate was delicious: from the little gem salad, over the whole fish, etc. All wines were simply very good. Cocktails were expertly prepared. Our waitress was delightful. read more

Overpriced and tasteless food. Lovely decor, I liked the retro vibe, which made it so disappointing. I had a $17 small plate of floating flavorless scallops, drowned in citrus juice. It turned the scallops into small slimy balls of nothing. I couldn't even finish it. We also ordered the half chicken ($28), it was too salty and just had mushy mushrooms for a side. Last night, I quite enjoyed June up til the very end. Sitting at the bar, I paid the woman who waited on us a $50 bill for a tab of $27. She gave me back change which was $10 short. When I told her I gave her a fifty, without even asking how much change she gave me, she put a ten dollar bill in my hand, How did she know how much she shorted me? They have solid food, great service and the bartenders sure do know how to make a moscow mule, my all time favorite drink. Best brunch I had in a while. Fresh menu with a variety of unique options. I split the "frog in the hole" and latka dish with a friend and couldn't decide which I preferred. They both had exceptional mushrooms on them. Decor and overall vibe was great too! read more

This place is so quaint and adorable! I love the atmosphere. It's definitely up the hipster alley, but there's nothing wrong with that! I had the lamb sausage and it was much better than I anticipated. The peppers and sausage were well seasoned and the polenta was a great touch. My friend has the French toast, which admittedly seemed too expensive on the menu, ended up being divine. Well soaked sourdough bread with just enough sugar dusting and strawberries to compliment the taste. Will definitely come back. read more

Lovely ambiance. Friendly bartender. Great drinks. What more do you need? I live a block away, so husband and I stop in for a drink any time we are out for a date night. In a group, the tables are nice. We usually find a good spot at the bar and the bartender (always seems to be the same friendly woman on Saturday nights) is always helpful and makes suggestions for interesting things to try. (I'm one of those people who can never decide what to get, so I appreciate the help.) Definitely worth a stop in. I've also had most of their desserts which never miss! read more

I ended up getting the "croque" instead, which was an overly dry open ham and cheese sandwich with no Bechamel sauce. My partner and I typically stick to some Brooklyn favorites like Aita and Suzume, where we know the food is good and we'll both receive the same level of service. But for a date night we wanted to try something new and went to June. Unfortunately, it became glaringly obvious that the white wait staff was only interested in providing me, a white woman, with service. The tables here are small so it was uncomfortable to say the least when the staff kept rearranging our plates and glasses to give me food my partner, who is a black man, had ordered. At multiple times the staff walked over to make eye contact with me and to ask only me, ignoring my partner completely, how I was doing. When our second waitress came up behind me, leaned over into my face, and asked "How is everything, how are you doing?" we couldn't ask for the check fast enough. Finally, the check was of course plopped directly in front of only me. This blatant racism my partner experienced means neither of us will ever be trying June again. I can't believe I am being so liberal with my stars, but this place left a really great taste in my mouth! I went in with a friend last Friday, which was its second night open. There were no tables, but the amazing Tom suggested we have a drink at the bar and keep ours eyes out for an open table-- and then he ACTUALLY CAME BACK to lead us to the perfect spot! The wine was divine, the food was delicious and the price point was absolutely perfect. While there were a few opening kinks, I would recommend this place without reservation, it was that enjoyable. Tried to go back again lastnight (three nights later) but could not tell whether they were open. I looked like a sad puppy in their window. read more
