Biscuits and gravy
Jeremiah F.

Worst biscuits and gravy I've had at a "restaurant" The biscuits were store-bought and the gravy was out of a can Would not recommend, really thought it would be made in house My dad had a breakfast burrito that he liked

Still a good spot for coffee and a good meal. I like their breakfast burritos. I do enjoy their Nutty Blonde coffee. I do miss the old location but they are making this spot feel the same. Thanks for bringing something good to Kansas Avenue.

I really thought I was going to like this place more than we did. It is a local hang out but they get business from hotel across the street too as was the case with us. It is nice to support the small local businesses. I ordered the breakfast biscuit with sausage egg and cheese. My husband got the the cleverly named, horse food. It was oatmeal with blueberries, apple and cinnamon. It seemed to be missing the honey which was okay with him however what was not okay was the fact they were instant oats! Not at all what we expected. My biscuit was good not great. The sausage and egg were good but the biscuit was ho-hum. A bit dry and past the golden brown stage. We did have to wait a little bit for our food to arrive but considering there was 1 man cooking on a tiny griddle it could have been much worse if they had been busy. Coffee was fine. I will say the 2 folks waiting the counter were very nice esp the gal. One issue I had with the place was ladies room. It was freezing!! I mean cold in there. The toilet handle was also half broken off. If I was in the area again I would probably give it another try so there were some positives.

If you are taking a road trip out west definitely add this place to your bucket list! This place was a great break from the fast food usuals on a road trip. Greeted with kind faces and a warm home like atmosphere this little bistro was a diamond in the rough. I recommend the train wreck and the oatmeal for breakfast along with one of the specialty coffees! Everything was made relatively quick and there were many gluten free/ dairy free options for anyone that has dietary restrictions!

Ask the Community - Juli's Coffee and Bistro

It says this is wheelchair accessible. Is there a ramp somewhere? Is there an elevator somewhere in the building? I have family coming into town that I'd like to take here, but not sure they could make the climb up the stairs.

Yes to all accessibility questions. Since we are on the National Register of Historic Places, we do the best we can by offering an entrance at the sidewalk level just east of our main door, It is marked "other". There is a ramp inside and out, that…

This review is for lunch at the bar for two on a Saturday in mid-August…read more service: Elizabth B. was our waitstaff and she was great. Very professional and prompt. Place was packed, but she didn't miss a beat. bar: Outstanding beer list, including Hop Butcher (Chicago) New School Hawaii Vibes IPA. Their tap list includes a style for everyone's interest. Big emphasis here on cocktails. Elizabeth put together a stunning Cosmo ($10!) for my wife. food: My wife's half Baja Turkey and soup-of-the-day, Chicken Noodle, with chips ($12) was outstanding. My half Not Your Mama's BLT and tomato bisque with chips (also $12) was equally fantastic. details: This is a relatively small restaurant with choice of inside, outside, and bar seating. Of note, the host also seats the bar, it's not open seating at the bar. There was a 20-minute wait at 1pm on a Saturday. Street parking outside in NOTO. There is a 3% surcharge if you pay with credit card.

This is an interesting spot in Topeka. I'm not that familiar with Topeka but there's not a whole…read morelot there except the capitol of Kansas. Searching out food gets interesting. The one question I have is why is it called The Wheel Barrel? I know a wheelbarrow, a wheel of cheese, a wine barrel, but I haven't figured out the name yet. If I make it back, maybe I can ask. The Wheel Barrel serves grill cheese/sandwiches and soup. I appreciate the concept and in this situation keeping it rather simple yet with some good selection for sandwiches and soup. I got a special wild rice and chicken soup with a half Baja turkey sandwich. It's a half and half for $12. I thought both tasted very good. I didn't eat quite all of it but I'd say it is a normal meal. Not a huge serving. I think most people would eat this in one meal. I think if I'm back in Topeka, I'll have to go back and do the traditional grilled cheese and tomato bisque! It was a busy lunch time meal. A nice size crowd was there. Service was still pretty quick. They have a rustic decor which is sort of like a wheelbarrow and a barrel. It's on a block that seems to be trying to add some art and culture to Topeka and I appreciate that a lot! If I'm back over that way, I'll stop back in and if definitely recommend it in Topeka.

Will update this review once I actually try the restaurant, or once the restaurants information has…read morebeen accurately updated. I'm not sure what was going on the day I tried to make an order, but based on Yelp and Google's information, the restaurant was supposed to be open on the Saturday. I called their number, someone answered without indicating their business name and then didn't acknowledge me at all so I ended up hanging up. I tried another number which was disconnected, so possibly an old number. I tried calling again after 5 and 10 minutes and each time it would ring and ring and then go to a "you have reached a text mobile number" message. Okay, so maybe they were just busy and couldn't answer their phone? So I asked a friend of mine who was on her way to see me if she would mind doing by to place an order for me. And I gave her the address, from Google maps. She called me when she was at the address and told me there was nothing there. I even tried texting, since the message said it was a text number. I said I was wanting to place an order for pickup and there was no reply, not even to tell me any information like "wrong number", "were actually closed". Is the business closed? Are the hours, phone number, and/or address inaccurate? Is this a food truck? If so, there is nothing on Google or Yelp or their website indicating any of this information, at least not as of Saturday the 29th. I was really bummed out as I was looking forward to trying the food here. It seems to be a cool and delicious restaurant and I think it's important to support small local restaurants, so I try to whenever I can. I was here visiting family for the weekend and I hope whatever is going on is clarified online so this doesn't happen to other willing customers. I am going I can try again when I'm back in town in a couple months.
