When I recommend a place to eat I always review them and check back again. I love the atmosphere, parking is good. Food is great. Over the Christmas Holiday I gifted a group of 7 to a group dinner for the front staff at a local bank that has helped me since I have moved back to Topeka and also later a nurse with plus one $$ to enjoy dinner for all the great work and care she provides me at the Stormont Vail Asbury facility. She and her Doctor are super. I would like to name them but not sure it is the thing they would want me to do. Blue Moose makes me confident that my gifts are well received when I thank someone. A friend and I decided to meet up at Blue Moose for Happy Hour. We sat up at the Bar Top which the bar and restaurant area were not busy. They have high top table/chairs, in the bar area, as well as booths, dining table/chairs and a big outdoor patio(it was too hot for us to sit outside-but they did have some customers out there) Taylor had greeted us right away and had brought us ice waters and asked if we wanted to order a cocktail. Cris had ordered the Hippie Dip cocktail that had fruity flavors-unfortunately I did not get a pic. I ordered a Dirty Martini w/Tito's Vodka-it was really good! We decided on a couple HH appetizers-the Spin/artichoke dip and the Shrimp Wontons(no pics-unfortunately because we were chatting!) but they both came out hot and fresh!!! The shrimp wontons were so delicious as well as the Spin dip(served w/tortilla chips & pita chips) They have some apps, cocktails and $4 drafts on their HH menu, as well as some daily dinner specials. Taylor checked on us and refilled our waters frequently, and asked if we wanted to order any other drinks before HH was over, We decided to try the Chocolate Martini which was AMAZING! We came here for brunch. It wasn't busy, and we were seated right away, but things quickly went downhill. We waited 15 minutes at our table without anyone acknowledging us. Several staff members passed by, but it seemed like they were trying to look busy rather than actually helping. Finally, we had to wave down the manager to get any assistance. Thankfully, the waitress who eventually helped us was wonderful--she was attentive, skilled, and even took our orders without writing them down, which is a fantastic talent. I absolutely enjoy visiting this place with some local and out of town friends! Food: fresh and hot which says a lot for the restaurants in this town! I find myself gravitating towards a select few when we meet up locally. Service: fast and very friendly which is so difficult for this area. Ambiance: usually is a hit or miss as long as you do not have locals screaming or talking so loud you can hear them three tables away. Thankfully our server understood and gave us a quiet table. The Blue Moose USED to be a fancy place to go get a great meal in Topeka... Those days are sadly gone. I had a friend in from out of town and tried to take him out for a nice meal. What a terribly embarrassing experience. The food was passable at least. The service is better at Wendy's. 40 minutes to get our drinks from the bar and then my wife's Gin and tonic is served in a water glass?? The waitress was horrible as well as clueless. I would recommend a Carter change ASAP. The seat in our booth was cracked and torn. It should have been replaced 10 years ago. I can say the BM is officially off our list!! read more

Happy Hour prices are great, especially their selection of martinis. Weak point is usually the bartenders themselves, who don't especially focus on engaging with their tables/bar seats and just throw down the menu, drinks, and answer yes/no to questions. My friends and I were in town for the week and we decided to try this place out and they have an extensive wine list outdoor seating. It seemed a little too uppity for our kind of place. It was a TV sports bar with $20 glasses of wine you could see the people were locals and we stood out like a sore thumb is in our T-shirts and shorts. I will order the buffalo chicken wrap and friends ordered some other food, and they all said food was great. We serve really fancy nice and clean on a square plate. Everything was really really good. I took my Baby Doll, Vergie, to The Blue Moose for a wonderful Easter Brunch! Shout out to some outstanding Employees for giving us such a wonderful experience! I called several times before today, and talked to Autumn, who gave me perfect details on their brunch, and the process. Miguel, at the prime rib station, was really polite and sliced the prime rib perfectly. Our server, Karen was top notch, very personable, and did a fantastic job, and even took a couple pictures and a video for us. And Jill, the manager was so pleasant and appreciative to us! This has been a favorite restaurant since we moved here almost a year ago. But something happened recently, and the quality of the food has dropped significantly. Their perfect and delicious Cobb Salad is gone from the menu, and the chicken on the new Monterey Chicken Salad I tried this week was basically inedible--dry and chewy, and difficult to choke down. Salads don't seem as plentiful as they did before, and apparently also no longer come with the yummy bread rolls; our last 3 have not had them. We ordered a Keto Bowl, with salmon instead of steak, and got both steak AND salmon, and were charged accordingly. We hope Blue Moose reads this and makes changes soon. We were very disappointed on our last three visits. read more

Going to be sharing across all socials since it was so awful! Took my parents to enjoy a dinner for their 33rd year anniversary on 12/29/22. My mother ordered a prime rib, medium. Might as well not even mentioned wanting it cooked medium, it came out 3/4 all fat and the rest of the "meat" inedible. She was scared to send it back with risk of it being tampered with. When we first alerted the waitress about it, she said that's just how it is and stormed off. When we tried to call her back over after my mom tried her best to eat something of it, the waitress ran off to hide. We tried to flag down another sever and they ignored us too. Eventually, one guy (did not catch his name) stopped, listened and got a manager for us. Right after that, the waitress tried to come by and take my mother's plate before the manager could come by. We told her no, and that a manager was on their way to see. The waitress stormed off again and made the comment "rude". We are really easy when it comes to dining out and this was disappointing. The manager did take it off the bill and offered an anniversary dessert but my parents were too scared of retaliation for sending the prime rib back. I felt this review should be put out there for other patrons because this was not cool at all. :( read more

I attempted to contact Blue Moose privately, but they did not respond. Please see my email below. This was an absolute disappointment. My family spent over $200 cash on this and it was awful. It was way way way over crowded. Wait lines over 20 minutes long for the buffet, only to find what you waited on had run out, then what you settled for was cold. We came from out of town and recommended to friends, what a let down and embarrassment. Servers did their best to keep up, but you oversold and they could not. This is not the Blue Moose quality we've come to expect. At best it was continental breakfast. At worst it looks like a predatory money grab taking advantage of a holiday.  Had a fire broken out, the door was completely blocked by unhappy people waiting, standing over the tables of people who had already gotten food. One member of our party requires assistance to stand, but there wasn't room for accommodations, and they were forced to stand in agony waiting. Please do better so that I can give a better recommendation of Blue Moose. read more

I would have really like to have given a five star review. First, I had to get up and find table service from another table for both me and my partner. My partner got his beer right away and I waited for my glass of wine. His salad came out fairly fast (croutons were stale). I ordered a cup of the cream of artichoke soup and a half chef salad. I was brought the cup of soup and a club sandwich. So I enjoyed my soup and waited for my salad. While I had my soup my partner's entree arrived. So he's eating his dinner and I'm waiting for the rest of mine. AND, my soup was excellent and so was my salad. So close to five a star review. Food is pretty consistently good - love the pizza, wings, nachos, quesadlllas I am rating based on multiple visits with friends, coworkers and family and the menu changed a bit. Decided to stop at this place for brunch. Read the reviews, some said this was the best brunch ever! If your like eggs Benedict I suggest not to order it. Instead of the english muffin, it was presented on a dry what tasted like a buttermilk biscuit that was hidden under strips of bacon and these sad eggs. As I cut into this dish the eggs were overcooked, the hollandaise sauce was well it wasn't. I was disappointed to say the least and sent the plate back. Went for brunch. Server was attentive at first but once we got our food didn't see him until the very end. We would have each ordered another drink, but since he didn't come by again we didn't. Brunch is a no go. One of us ordered classic eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was way to runny which soaked the English muffin which I assume had been sitting in the window for awhile as the eggs were over cooked and the muffin was Soggy. The sad part was even a simple breakfast with bacon (undercooked), eggs (prepared wrong), and potatoes (old and stale tasting) couldn't even be completed correctly. Def not going back for brunch again. Open to trying lunch or dinner, but we don't have high hopes. read more

During my trip to Topeka I dined here twice. When you're gluten free and traveling things can get tricky and I appreciated that they clearly label their menu and had great gf options. I was traveling alone so I opted to sit at the bar both nights. The same bartenders worked both evenings and I appreciate that they remembered me. Both nights it was very busy during happy hour which is 4-6pm. One evening was half off wine and the other was $10 bottles of wine. This attracted quite a few patrons. The bar was nonstop busy but the two make bartenders worked hard. Night one I had the petite filet mignon which came with mashed cauliflower and succotash. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and was just the right size for me. The flavor was excellent and the sided phenomenal, I cleaned my plate which rarely happens! The second evening I had the milk braised pork which was also excellent. The pork was juicy and flavorful and the grilled asparagus had a nice smokey flavor. It also came with mashed potatoes but I think I'd rather have that mashed cauliflower because it was so good! I would definitely come back here if I was traveling to Topeka again. read more
