This review is for lunch at the bar for two on a Saturday in mid-August…read more service: Elizabth B. was our waitstaff and she was great. Very professional and prompt. Place was packed, but she didn't miss a beat. bar: Outstanding beer list, including Hop Butcher (Chicago) New School Hawaii Vibes IPA. Their tap list includes a style for everyone's interest. Big emphasis here on cocktails. Elizabeth put together a stunning Cosmo ($10!) for my wife. food: My wife's half Baja Turkey and soup-of-the-day, Chicken Noodle, with chips ($12) was outstanding. My half Not Your Mama's BLT and tomato bisque with chips (also $12) was equally fantastic. details: This is a relatively small restaurant with choice of inside, outside, and bar seating. Of note, the host also seats the bar, it's not open seating at the bar. There was a 20-minute wait at 1pm on a Saturday. Street parking outside in NOTO. There is a 3% surcharge if you pay with credit card.

This is an interesting spot in Topeka. I'm not that familiar with Topeka but there's not a whole…read morelot there except the capitol of Kansas. Searching out food gets interesting. The one question I have is why is it called The Wheel Barrel? I know a wheelbarrow, a wheel of cheese, a wine barrel, but I haven't figured out the name yet. If I make it back, maybe I can ask. The Wheel Barrel serves grill cheese/sandwiches and soup. I appreciate the concept and in this situation keeping it rather simple yet with some good selection for sandwiches and soup. I got a special wild rice and chicken soup with a half Baja turkey sandwich. It's a half and half for $12. I thought both tasted very good. I didn't eat quite all of it but I'd say it is a normal meal. Not a huge serving. I think most people would eat this in one meal. I think if I'm back in Topeka, I'll have to go back and do the traditional grilled cheese and tomato bisque! It was a busy lunch time meal. A nice size crowd was there. Service was still pretty quick. They have a rustic decor which is sort of like a wheelbarrow and a barrel. It's on a block that seems to be trying to add some art and culture to Topeka and I appreciate that a lot! If I'm back over that way, I'll stop back in and if definitely recommend it in Topeka.

I recently visited during their one year anniversary at this location. I'd previously been to the…read moreoriginal location and enjoyed my sandwich but because it's a bit north, I hadn't returned. This location is closer to me and I'll definitely go back. I ordered online and it was seamless. My food way ready when I arrived and my order was accurate. Service was friendly. The location seemed pretty large and clean. They do have a drive thru and plenty of parking. They have a large menu and on this visit I tried the meatball sub. They offer whole and half sizes. They feature 2 oz meatballs from Scimecas, a whole has 4 making the sandwich over a pound and 51 grams of protein. It's about $14 for a whole but I got it as a weekly special at a mere $10. (Check their socials for more specials!) The sandwich was so good. It was big. The meatballs were delicious and had a good texture and flavor. The sauce was a little sweet but not overpowering. The bread held up amazingly. It had a nice chew and could stand up to all the sauce. There was plenty of cheese. Nice garlic essence. Highly recommend and I'd get it again. They also had $1 hot dogs so I got a few. My pups love hot dogs and these were no exception. I believe they're normally between $3-4 but they are boars head and all beef. I also had one and it was delicious. Who doesn't love a glizzy? They have whole pickles so I had to have one of those. Great pickle. No complaints. I also ordered non-phallic items like a few different cookies. The cookies are bomb. Chewy, soft, big. I'll probably have to get a cookie every time I go. I tried the s'mores, lemon blueberry, and the triple chocolate chunk. All were equally good. Great flavor. Fantastic texture. Get cookies. Again, no complaints. I'll go back and will be recommending them. Check them out!

I grabbed a sandwich on my way to catch a flight and was so impressed. They use Boar's Head deli meats and offer a huge selection of sandwiches, breads, toppings, and chips. Whether you want your sandwich on a hoagie or sliced bread, served cold or toasted, they'll make it exactly how you like it. The ingredients were fresh, the sandwich was packed with flavor, and it was the perfect travel meal. Fast, friendly service and plenty of options to customize your order. I'll absolutely be stopping here again the next time I'm headed to the airport. Highly recommend!
