It was close to closing time so we ordered fast and got our chips and salsa quickly. Loved the homemade chips and that they were still warm. Salsa was ok. I liked my fajitas but I wasn't as blown away with the taste as my co-worker. I had a few pieces of meat that had grizzle when I bit into them. It wasn't as seasoned as I was hoping too. The beans and rice were ok but didn't appear scratch made.

However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. I just had lunch at Julio's and our waiter was so incredibly rude. My friends and I ordered our food and I ordered my meal plain with no toppings or garnishes. We also ordered queso. Our food arrives and he directly hands me my plate and places everyone else's down on the table, which was weird. Then I saw my food had all the garnishes and toppings. So I just asked if I could get my enchiladas plain. The waiter scoffed and said he would have to charge me for another one. I told the waiter I just wanted my enchiladas replaced and not on the side or anything. He paused and loudly sighed at my remark and then took my plate. Visibly annoyed, he brought out my plate when the new enchiladas were ready. My friend asked for her sauce and sour cream that were missing from her order and again, he sighed loudly, obviously annoyed she asked. I have never encountered a waiter who visibly wanted to show us they were so bothered. So for the rest of the meal we didn't ask for anything else. He didn't even bring us refills through out our meal. Once finished, we asked for our check. I noticed that I might have been charged extra so I asked him if my soup was part of the meal. He again sighed and rolled his eyes and said it was because of the up charge for ordering a different soup. I agreed then gave him my card. He brought back our cards and receipts. It was such an awful experience, I didn't want to tip him so I didn't. As we were walking out, he sarcastically told me thank you. Then as we're getting in my car and driving away, we saw him walk outside very upset and stared us down. I knew he had probably seen that I didn't give him a tip. The waiter ACTUALLY went outside and stared us down as he watched us leave, extremely upset. It was the most uncomfortable meal I have ever had. From the sighing, mocking, and very poor service, I dont know how he expected a tip. Hope no one gets this waiter. This was at the Joe Battle location. read more

1 Star - Disappointing All Around We visited Julio's Mexican Restaurant in Horizon City, and I ordered the Poblano Mole Chicken -- $20 for what turned out to be plain boiled chicken covered in a sauce that looked and tasted awful. It came with a tiny scoop of rice and beans. For the price, I expected much better quality and flavor. There were only six of us at the table, yet the server automatically added an 18% gratuity, which should only apply to parties of eight or more -- and even then, it's usually 15%, not 18%. When we went to pay, they tacked on another 3.5% just for using a credit card. To top it off, they charged for drink refills. Between the nickel-and-diming, mediocre food, and inflated prices, this was one of the least satisfying dining experiences I've had in Horizon. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Julio's Mexican Restaurant serves good food at a decent price, and that alone makes it worth a visit. The portions were satisfying, the flavors were solid, and everything came out fresh. I enjoyed the meal and felt like I got good value for what I paid. That said, once I finished eating, I found myself getting a bit bored. I tried to hop on the restaurant's Wi‑Fi to pass the time, but it was really unreliable--slow to connect and barely usable. Not a deal‑breaker, but definitely something that took away from the experience.
