I have been coming here for years, since they first opened to be honest. Their gorditas were always top notch well not anymore. I recently purchased an order on Montwood and let me tell you, the gorditas have now shrunk. They are about 4 inches wide. But don't worry, they also raised the prices. Never coming back. read more

We are so disappointed with the service yesterday. We ordered catering for a baby shower and everything went well except for the food. We have used Delicious Mexican Restaurant for years now. We had to call to see if they would arrive soon only to find out that they forgot about us. We had already paid too. The order was incomplete and the items we ordered and paid for were not prepared so they threw in whatever they could. The service personnel did not show up. They dropped off some food items and left. We ordered for 70 people and received enough for maybe 40. The sad part is that we dealt directly with the owner Ray Borrego who dropped the ball big time. I'm a Texas boy, where good gorditas were plentiful... Now that I live in California, the things they try to pass off as "gorditas" in California are as repulsive as mustard on a manure pile. Imagine my delight when I tried "Delicious". My brother was the one that introduced me to this place, because I told him I'd been jonesing for a real gordita since I stopped going to La Tapatia in Ysleta (please see my Tapatia review). Delicious didn't disappoint - they surpassed. The size was perfect. A plate of 3 with beans and rice is less than what a plate of chips and salsa would cost me in L.A. The flavor was beyond any gordita I've had so are - including La Tapatia (back before they shaved their heads into the food). The place is spotlessly clean, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is truly "Delicious". I came looking on both google maps and yelp to see if Delicious Mexican Eatery was still in business after 31 years and the COVID impact. Back then on 1/93, Martha was there that helped my wife and I cater our wedding and it was outstanding, of course back then social experiments were not existent then to give good reviews. But from memory of our wedding, no one complained about the food and has been our go to for quick bite besides Chicos Tacos down the street (LOL). read more

This place is really solid. I came in for the lunch special and it's really solid especially for the price point. They also give military discounts. Place is spacious with another open room next to the entrance and the people are really friendly. Delicious , we visited for more 25 years, food is good, service used to be good , not any more. persons in the kitchen are ok, but the cashiers not. One time my wife and I went for burritos. We order decaf. to drink, the cashier told us no decaf. , I am not making a full pot for two cups. Other time we went I order a burrito and told the girl to add ham, she told me they can not remove or add any thing on the menu. I'm not going to do a play on words about how delicious Delicious is, but if anyone has the confidence to name their restaurant so boldly, obviously they have some kind talent in the kitchen or at least a book of amazing secret family recipes. If you grew up in the Northeast and don't know what Delicious is, just know that all of your street cred has just been revoked. You need to go home and have a serious conversation with your parents, educate them on how deprived your childhood was, have a cry, sell the story to Oprah, and live off the royalties. The burritos are my favorite, specifically the Chille Relleno. Once someone told me, they had, had a better Chile Relleno burrito and I immediately set my burrito down and demanded the location of such a place. After I repeated, "Where, where, where? WHERE? WHERE?!? Hmmmm...where is this magical place that you just made up because you are simply trying to one up my on point food scouting skills?" for a good five minutes, I came to the conclusion that such a place does not exist. Delicious is the end all, be all. If the owner got to cook with Julia freakin' Child, she has to know what she's doing in the kitchen. I don't know about you, but Julia Child never cooked with me while she was alive...probably because I'm just a measly commoner trying to recreate dishes I see on Iron Chef. I recommend eating in now that they've expanded this location and for the mere fact that chips and salsa are included. It really doesn't take that long to get your food because they do make a majority of the main ingredients in the dishes throughout the day (which most restaurants do as well...you can't really think that slow cooked roast is made in 20 minutes). Delicious has a consistent amount of patrons throughout the day so the food is fresh. This Delicious is definitely a staple of El Paso and where I love sending people when they ask for a good Mexican meal. The only thing is service could use a boost. It's not bad, just not as helpful and fast as I like. But I can look past my personal preference for the food. Go, go now! read more

I was sooo sad that I went to delicious, but my burrito was not delicious :(. The burrito looked great and was super juicy and they gave a great portion of avocado worth the extra $0.59. I ordered a brisket burrito and it had no flavor whatsoever. Like I said, it was super juicy it just needed more seasoning or that sauce that's used for brisket. The tortilla was good, very fresh. This was my first time trying this restaurant so I may give it another try in the future but I may just stick to bean and cheese or something else. Customer service was great, I ordered to go. They told me it would be ready in 15-20 mins so I got there in 15 mins and my burrito was a little cold. I'm sure it's just because they were super busy so I won't let this be my last visit, this place is always busy so I'm sure it's busy for a reason. read more

I think the hype surrounding the place did it a disservice. As a stand-alone Mexican eatery, it does a great job. When advertised as one of the bet burritos in the country, and only one listed in El Paso, it had a pretty high bar. I got the famous Chile Relleno burrito, the chicharron burrito, and the classic been burrito. They gave a lot more food than what they're charging, so that's a plus. I guess you have to really be comfortable with a chicharron burrito well before you should order one. I'm sure that on a scale of the best of these, this one would be it. My experience as a Midwesterner who spent the last 8 years throughout the southeast did not prepare me for this, and thus was a bust. The Chile Relleno, although looked like it was prepped very well, didn't really have much of a wow factor to it. Disappointing as this is supposed to be the big selling item. Nice place, nice people, but unfortunately for me, mediocre food. read more

So, after reading the other reviews here, I wanted to go here in a bad way. I mean if freaking Julia Child learned to cook Mexican here, it has to be the best.* Delicious is a little place in a strip mall with about 20 seats and a huge kitchen that is open to the counter. Gotta respect a place that has a bigger kitchen than dining area. Wife had the number 11 with cheese enchiladas, I had the number 3 which comes with one gordita, one taco and one chile relleno. Both came with refried beans and rice(see photos.) We both agreed that it was very good and authentic, and worthy of 5 stars. *So, the biggest reason we hightailed it over here was based on Julian C.'s review which said "This is where Julia Child went to learn how to make mexican food." So among the myriad number of articles posted on the wall, there is a photo(see above) of Julia with the owner with this caption: "Cooking with Julia Child" During one of Julia Child's visits to El Paso, Martha Borrego, owner of Delicious Mexican Eatery, had the honor to share the kitchen and her recipes with the Master Chef. I am not trying to be a jerk, but there is a monumental difference between "I schooled Julia Child" and "I had the honor to share my kitchen and recipes with Julia Child." I guess I could be wrong, but I will ask next time I go back just to check the facts. So in short, go if you want authentic and fantastic tasting Mexican food you probably won't be disappointed. read more

We ordered the 3 gordita plate with caldo de res soup. The gorditas were perfectly fried with the right balance of meat, lettuce and cheese. Very reasonably priced at just under $6. The soup was good, but nothing special. Our uncle ordered the chile relleno burrito and said it was excellent. The space is a typical Mexican sit down eatery with its compliments of flies. Nothing out of the ordinary, with service just about average. All in all, from the dishes we ordered, I give this establishment 5 stars and would return the next time we are in town. read more

Their Navajo tacos seem like they're with flour tortillas instead of fry bread but they were still very good.

The once mighty "Delicious" is no longer. The food is ok, but the service is absolutely horrible now - and consistently bad. Some employees care but most do not and the food wait times are terrible. Phone orders are a joke because they pick up the phone and never go back after placing you on hold. The true travesty here is the owner - Ray Borrego - could care less about taking care of his business. He doesn't return phone calls after 3 attempts and doesn't fix things that are greatly affecting his business negatively. Phone hasn't worked properly for months (a great excuse for lazy employees to not take phone orders too) - soda fountain needs repair and just overall execution of this restaurant operation is poor. Employees say he won't fix things. This is the perfect example of a business owner not valuing what he has and neglecting it to the fullest. The once great "Delicious" is a lackluster business at minimum and in great need of an owner that actually cares. read more

If you're from El Paso and think this is what Mexican food, shame on you! This is right up there with Kiki's. Why people rant and rave about BOTH these places is beyond me. Your grandmother was probably a terrible cook and you have nothing good to base your judgement off of. The customer service was below par and the food was even lower. The ground beef used to make almost everything here resembled canned dog food. It was minced and flavorless. I couldn't bring myself to swallow it. I resorted to eating my daughter's Burger King chicken nugget leftovers. For what my husband paid ($20.52; a RIP OFF for 2 plates), we could've gone to Don Cuco and eaten like kings and left with content full tummys. I will say this for Delicious, at least the soda wasn't flat. I gave it 2 stars because the salsa was good. Annnnnd that's about it. read more

Delicious Mexican Eatery is a small hole-in-the wall with great Mexican food. I went there during breakfast hours (8am-11am) but they served almost their full menu excluding a few items. This place has a great breakfast menu and you can even customize a few options. I got the Carne a la Mexicana burrito with Huevo, a burrito filled with jalapeños, tomatoes, onions, and carne with the egg. It also came with a basket of chips and salsa. Let me tell you, the burrito was full of flavor by itself but adding the salsa added that spicy kick that I love. I would definitely recommend this place to any tourists or visitors if they are looking for a good Mexican food experience. And I'll definitely be visiting again to try more of their items. read more

Food ok. Bad service. They never pick up the phone. If they do they'll put you on hold forever and then simply hang up. I once told them that I was on hold the whole drive over there and they said the phone was on silent. While I was ordering many calls came in and they simply ignored the phone, very loud by the way. My visit was from 12/15/22 to 12/17/22. My husband grew up here and it has been 10 years since we've been back. I tried their gorditas. We bought 6 on 12/15/22 and we went back on 12/17/22 to buy a dozen this time. They are out of this world and the price is reasonable. My husband got their burritos and chile relleano (sp?). Everything was delicious just like their company name. The service is quite slow! It appears they are not enough staff. They were selling tamales for the holidays, but we didn't get any. That's a nobrainer entree... when one runs out, you just make more. And it should always be fresh. It's only 12 noon. How does a notable restaurant "run" out? Me and my family came in and sat down at one of the tables. Noticed the other two available still had dirty dishes from previous guests. Two other guest walked in and stood there waiting to order to go and noticed the two gentlemen got Inpatient and left. We were sitting there for over 5 minutes and not one time did I see a waiter come out to greet us, the other people that were already there or the people waiting in line. So we decided to leave and on the way out I saw bunch of ladies back there chit chatting with each other ignoring everything around their circle of conversation! I haven't lived in El Paso since 1995, but I still dream about this place. I've never had a gordita like this one and it is the pinnacle. Tender meat tucked inside a corn tortilla like pocket with shredded lettuce, cheese and tomatoes, and then fried quickly to crisp the pocket and melt the cheese. I am recalling this from memory - and it was always my own speculation as to how these incredible gordita's are constructed. A few years after I left El Paso, Taco Bell introduced a "gordita" and I was apalled at whatever they came up with and slapped that name on it. At Delicious you have to order a few to fill you up. Everything at Delicious is well, delicious - even down to the simplest bean burrito. I still haven't had anything that even compares. read more

Driving from Fort Worth to Tucson is generally a bad idea. Plane ticket costs the same. Making a point to be in El Paso for Lunch is a good idea. Delicious Mexican Eatery is delicious. It's also Mexican. And an Eatery, too. I had always thought gorditas were something Taco Bell made up but these little guys are all sorts of fantastic. I am amazed no one has reviewed this great restaurant yet! To me, Delicious has always been an El Paso tradition. You might miss it if you drive by too fast. It's a tiny hole in the wall that is easily lost among the strip mall clutter. A good way to find it is look for all the cars parked in front and people surrounding the front door. When you finally find a parking spot and get in the door make sure to order their gorditas or chili rellenos. This is probably my favorite place for both. Not in the mood for something so "authentic"? Try one of their burritos - just the right price and proportion. Round off your meal with their rice, beans and empanadas. read more

We found this eatery on Yelp after we paid a very brief visit to L&J Cafe (Yuck). We have been looking for a small mom and pop/ hole in the wall place to eat and the Delicious Mexican Eatery lived up to it's name. Its a small eatery tucked in between several shops on a busy street and it's easy to overlook if your not looking for it. The dinning area is small yet comfortable and clean with an open view of the kitchen from the counter. We ordered the beef taco platter and the Navajo Taco platter with the child's Flauta plate. The Taco's could use a little spice but overall everything was very tasty. We will going back soon and that's the best review we can give. read more
