I am not one to write Yelp reviews, ever, but I thought this one needed to be done. I wish I could give negative stars, because I came here with a friend and both of us have never had such a horrible nail experience, we literally cried in the car.
I asked for a full set of acrylic nails (as I've been getting for 10 years now) and was given "hard gel" instead (which I've never even heard of, but apparently it's a thing in Jersey - I'm from out of state) ... well, for starters, I found the exact brand of hard gel they used on Amazon for $16 - I spent $76 including a 10% tip. Furthermore, my nails were in throbbing pain, because they were so beaten up, and I still have cuts on the sides of my fingers. On top of that, my finger/nails were burning under the UV light - bad sign, but anyways. I got just plain black with matte top coat and glossy tips - very basic. You could easily tell they were uneven, from the bumpiness of the nail to the shape they were filed in. It was obvious that the lady, although seemingly nice in the moment, was rushing to get me out of her chair, because her regulars walked in right when I got up. Although I was very upset, I decided to let it go, and just deal for a couple weeks until I could justify going to get a fill somewhere else (back home). Well, that was until one of the nails broke within just 7 hours, and the whole set was broken off within 10 hours. I have NEVER had this happen to me - ever! I called the salon the next day to let them know I would like a refund, because that is unacceptable - to spend $76 on a product that sells for $16 on Amazon and them not even lasting until the next day?! Absolutely not. The lady asked me to come back and they could fix them, but I was already out of state and back home, so she said to send her photos of the nails in order to get a refund. I sent her photos and videos (timestamped, although the videos can't be uploaded here) with my name (because I paid with card), only for her to leave it on read. I texted her again the following day, and she left it on read again. The third day, I texted again, and she finally replied saying I cannot get a refund, but I could come back to the salon for them to fix. I reiterated that I cannot, even if I wanted to, because I am out of state, and I would like at least a partial refund ... and I was left on read again. I ended up having to go somewhere else and spending another $80 (for a soak off and new acrylic set) to get them fixed.
I was trying to avoid writing a review, and wouldn't be writing this if I had just been given some respect and the refund that I asked for, but I do not believe the lack of professionalism should go unnoticed. $76 is a lot to spend on nails that won't even last a day, especially as a college student. read more
