I've been wanting to get my hair cut here for awhile. I show up today and she is open but the door is locked. She comes to the door and tells me she only takes appointments and she doesn't accept new clients. REALLY! There was not a soul in this place getting anything done. Just her behind the cash register. I sat out front for 20 minutes and no one showed up for services. I don't recommend this place at all and it was recommended to me.....figure that out! I'm a clean cut gentlemen and I feel I was just discriminated against. This is a public business not a Dr's or Dentists office. Maybe you need to move your business to your home and not be in a public space especially if you will not take somebody that walks in to get their haircut then you have nothing going on. Her memory is impeccable, she always remembers exactly how I like it and it comes out perfect every time! Don't bother with the mega chain "hair factories" that are popping up all over the place. Trista - is hands down - probably one of the best stylists in our area. She works at Julie's salon at four corners and the one in Covington - it has a different name - it's over by the DMV/LA Fitness in Covington. I think it's important to support small business as well -- instead of just going to the massive hair stylist chains -- I think it's important to support local business. A lady on here wrote about something Julie said in front of her daughters -- I have to say that I'm guessing that Julie may not have intended the actual "meaning" on how things were received as there may be somewhat of a language barrier -- I think that we need to support local business and Trista is a great hair stylist. read more

Every time I come to Seattle, i would always stop by Julie Salon for a new hair style and color. I have very 'black' hair and always opt for lighter colored hair. The last time i came with my boring black hair, i came back with beautiful, vibrant ashy blonde hair. IS that POSSIBLE??!! YES, Julie knows her color and she used top of the line products. Went to Julie's today to have red streaks put in my 13 yo daughter's hair. Julie took the time to talk with us about our choices and if we opted for true red we'd be damaging her hair, etc. I was impressed with her patience. My three boys and I won't get our hair cut anywhere but here, even after we moved to Bellevue. It is really hard to find a good haircut in this price range, I've tried and tried but there isn't another place that can do it right in this price range. I've even gone to more higher end shops (meaning higher prices) when I couldn't make it to Maple Valley and they still can't compare. All you need to know is in my first sentence, I drive from Bellevue to Maple Valley just so Julie and her staff can cut my family's hair. read more

My daughter had senior pictures to be taken the following day and I decided to try this salon. After getting a horrible hair cut from the stylist, Julie stepped in to rectify the problem. Not only did she not make the cut better, but she used electric hair trimmers on ends that were supposed to be textured and put a nice slice in my daughter's shirt. She didn't even say anything when it happened. She only acknowledged the ruined shirt after I said something and replied "I had no choice". Huh?? We went ahead and paid so we wouldn't have to deal with her anymore and immediately went to Stan Parente Salon where their wonderful stylist not only stayed late but made my daughter's hair look great. I called Julie afterward to ask for a refund and not only did she refuse to refund my money but she will not even take responsibility for ruining the shirt. Go at your own risk! read more

I was shocked how rude Julie is, and how bad her comments are. She was inconsiderate in her comments in front of my 5 and 10 years old daughters. when you go to do your hair and nails, u share a lot of informations with the working ladies . since she is 54 years old, u think that she will use her judgement to know what is right and what is wrong. Today was my second time trying Julie, she was good at cutting hair. We were chatting and I told her that I am a single mom. In the afternoon, I picked up my girls from school, my older daughter liked my hair cut, and I decided to go back to have my older daughter's hair cut. I have 2 girls that they look exactly the same but different colors, one has the fair skin and hair color with hazel eyes color, the second girl has a brown eye color and black hair (the Mediterranean features), so I entered the salon, Julie started cutting my daughter hair. Since she likes to talk a lot , Julie's comment was that now she knows why I am divorced and my x husband was not confident that the second daughter is his. And this all happened in front of the girls, I told her let us not talk about it. But she continued till she felt that I got so irritated and I am not chatting with her anymore. No one has the right to judge any person especially a single mom in front of her daughters. read more

I had an appointment at 3pm to have my hair highlighted by Kim. She didn't get started until 3:30pm. I explained to her that I just wanted blond highlights, so that my roots were touched up. She said she understood, and began to put foils in my hair. She put me under a heat lamp to speed up the process and began checking the foils after about 30 minutes. By this time, the ones that she put in first had processed too much and she began taking the foils out while I was still under the heat lamp. She vigorously toweled off as much of the chemical as possible on the ones that were "overdone" and told me to wait under the heat lamp even longer for the other foils to finish processing. After another 20 minutes she took all of the foils out and shampooed my hair. I sat down at her station and she handed me a comb and told me to brush out my hair. Are you kidding me? I am paying you $120 to highlight my hair and you aren't even going to comb my hair out?! She then started to blow dry it and that's when I realized I never should have let her touch my hair. My hair was YELLOW. That's right, lemon yellow. She told me that straightening it would help me to see that the color was not yellow, that styling my hair would show the true color. Was the straightening included with the service? Nope. To finish drying my hair and to flat iron it would be another $15. I declined to have my hair straightened but I made my second mistake by allowing her to fix the yellow color. She proceeded to put more foils in my hair, but only in the front where the yellow color was the worst. She seemed very impatient at this point, that she was having to fix her mistake. After letting the foils sit on my hair for a few minutes, she used the hair dryer on full heat and pointed it straight at the foils and began to heat them up to speed up the process. I was pretty uncomfortable at this point, as they were getting hotter and she said she would just take the foils out of my hair. After removing the foils she began to paint the bleach right onto my hair with the brush which resulted in getting it all over my scalp. She got the hairdryer out again and heated up my hair that had the bleach on it, without any foils to cover the hair!! She asked me if she should stop, and without hesitation I said yes, that it was not worth ruining my hair at this point. She took me over to the sink and instead of "wasting time" shampooing all of my hair again, I had to lean over the sink with a towel over my face so she could just wash the hair that had the bleach on it. She dried the portion that she washed and then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault that this whole fiasco occurred. She accused me of not telling her that I parted my hair a certain way and that was the reason for the problem. She said that she would've foiled my hair in a different direction if she would've known. She was desperate to find some reason for why everything went so wrong and that was her reason - that I parted my hair incorrectly. She said she would make a note on my card so that when I came back, it wouldn't happen again. How could she ever think that I would be dumb enough to return for more hair trauma and harassment? After getting home, I took a closer look at my hair where she had highlighted it twice, and my scalp was chemically burned due to her applying the bleach directly on my scalp. My hair was also very badly damaged where she flat ironed over the portion that she highlighted. I am so disappointed that I spent $120 for her to permanently damage my hair. I have an appointment today at Gene Juarez to see a PROFESSIONAL to fix this mess. I would advise any woman who needs any beauty service to AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS - unless of course you enjoy being treated poorly, having your hair permanently damaged, and then being accused that it was your fault. read more
