We've been coming out to Julian and Lake Cuyamaca for years, always passed this place but this was our first time stopping. The outside is eye catching (with exciting plans for the future!) and inside has a classic diner vibe, with fun seating, records, hot wheels and all sorts of collectibles. There is a dog friendly patio, and it is a true kids playground, with board games and toys to explore, as well as a giant train, old cars, fun trucks outside. The people working there are amazing. Genuinely friendly and accommodating. It's family run, and you can tell the care going into the business. Food was amazing. We got there right when they opened, had the breakfast burrito and biscuits and gravy. We liked it so much we wish we could have stayed to try lunch. I didn't want to wait 45 minutes for breakfast at the Cafe in town. A mile down the road I found Julian Pit Stop. The ambiance was ready for Lightning McQueen. I had the hillbilly scramble, it was awesome and filling. It will be my "pit stop" next time I'm in town. Also the music was great. read more

Don't miss this pit stop in Julian. I didn't notice it until driving to Lake Cuyamaca. Cars theme property caught my attention at the Julian Trading Post. I felt like we were in a Cars movie with Matador. This spot offers an amazing coffee selection. I ended up getting an iced caramel macchiato for about $5. Very reasonable prices for delicious coffee. Not too sweet, but perfect how I like it. They do offer a breakfast and lunch menu whose prices weren't bad either. The food does look good, but we were full from having lunch prior. If I knew sooner, I would have had lunch here. The decoration within the cafe is super cute filled with hot wheels all around and Cars theme with a little touch of other Disney characters. Great area for your kids to also enjoy. It's located next to a gift shop as well as selling clothes, honey, jerky, and more. Service is wonderful with friendly staff. Stopped in today to get lunch for me and my elderly parents . Staff was professional and polite they made you feel welcome. Ask what theories was. Glad I made a pit stop over here during my stay in Julian. Exactly what I needed for my morning coffee. I came on Valentine's Day so they were pretty backed up. This place is decked out with Hot Wheels over their walls and had an auto theme to the cafe. Connected to their right of the cafe was a tiny boutique and an outdoor patio to the left side. I ordered their Dark Chocolate Strawberry Latte with cold foam on top. The drink was so pretty and right on theme with the holiday. The taste of the Mocha was tasty too, a bit sweeter than a dark chocolate though, but for the size, and no additional cost for the cold foam, I thought it was well worth ordering. They offer some breakfast classics like bagels and breakfast burritos, which I did not want at the time, but if you were looking for a quick bite rather than a sit-down restaurant this is your spot! read more

If you are unsure of where to go in Julian like I was, please give this place a shot. Whether for the food, drinks, service, ambiance, the BOOTHS, decor, pac-man game, etc. We got the pumpkin latte and the cookie butter, both made with Colombian beans, and oatmilk (our preferred flavor). The food is fresh and bought nearly every day by Frank! We had lovely talks and interactions Lori and Frank. Most definitely give this place a chance. I wouldn't be putting out a review if it wasn't a cool spot. Even the prices are lenient if you're unsure, we liked the bagel and breakfast burrito. The interior is cute and there are several games you can play while waiting. I played PAC-MAN and tic-tac-toe. There's plenty of seating inside and outside! I unfortunately did not try their bagels, but hopefully next time I can. As for the drinks, I personally felt that my matcha was too milky for my liking, but others could feel differently. Spotted this place on the way into town and actually thought it might be shops, I was half right! Was not expecting a full-blown menu, I was in need of some coffee, they also had breakfast. There was seating inside, a play area for young ones, also a game board (checkers if I recall) that was being put to good use. Staff here was friendly and service was quick. We wanted to check this place out and grab another coffee on the way back to campsite, but they do close early, so keep that in mind. Will definitely be back when we are in the area. read more

We ended up going during a really busy day. The outside is awesome as they have Tow Mater and a car that looks like the one from Jurassic Park. Apparently they are building a big shed/barn that will house many more cars/attractions. We ordered two coffees and they were really busy but that was to be expected, it was the day after Thanksgiving. We ended up waiting around 25 minutes for our Coffee, and when I got mine I got a cold one instead of a hot one. The staff were super kind and fixed the mistake. read more

Exceptionally nice service. Food was delicious. I will definitely be back. Unlike Main Street in Julian there is ample parking here and it's just a few minutes down the 79 from Main Street. Prices are also better than Main St. restaurants. The ambiance was laid-back and casual, but charming with a record player playing Sinatra when I went in. We saw this place on a yelp page while we were driving to Julian. I got so curious about the rating and went by to check them out. This place is not on the main street where the pie stores are in Julian, but I wish they were 'coz when my husband and I went inside it was cute inside, good vibes and very cozy. We were greeted right away by this Lady named LORI, she's a very sweet one. I chose to try: * BAGEL SANDWICH JALAPEÑO with Ham & Cheese and Scrambled egg. *ICE CARAMEL MACCHIATO While my Bagel was being made, the lady was very nice to let me know what condiments they had, and when i heard they have Sriracha then of course, I chose the Sriracha, my favorite sauce. I told her to set aside the Sriracha so my Son can try my Sandwich. This Bagel came out Pretty big. It's a simple Bagel, but very good. I tried my ICE CARAMEL MACCHIATO , and it was made perfectly, not too sweet at all. It was a nice Stop for a small snack before heading to Julian's downtown. Main reason I came here was to try their EBC bagel sandwich, which looked so amazing, but they were out of ALL their bagels. So I settled for a pastrami sandwich... Which was OK, nothing to write home about. And this place is TINY! Literally only 6 tables inside, so I didn't even get a table. At least they were nice enough to move a couple things off of the bar, so I could sit there, right next to the blaring, loud music. Stumbled onto this eatery while passing through the busy Main Street area of Julian, where we were originally going to eat at any restaurant but couldn't find any parking since I'm disabled. Luckily for us we saw this and decided to see what they had. Well let me speak for both of us, food was really delicious and fresh - they gave us both the right amount and it was filling. Both ladies were super attentive and sweet. The decor is that of vintage car signs, hubcaps, etc along with t-shirts & other gifts for sale. It has that cute old country charm to it. It was a win win for us since the next area to eat (being we were heading out to Tecate, Baja Mexico) would've either been Lake Cuyamaca which gets crowded or Descanso which is still quite a ways when you're starving. read more

Came here on a Monday morning. Was just going to get a coffee and use the bathroom before my hike up Volcan Mountain, but the ambiance inside the cafe piqued my interest. The decorations were all Cars themed, Laurie was so cheerful and friendly. I loved the Jesus sign on the wall, and overall vibe was cozy and inviting. So I came back after my hike and had the Philly Cheesesteak and it was BOMB. It came with a side of chips - the spicy pickle chips are what I chose, they were great. This place is so cute and amazing!!!! My husband and I were staying in a cabin in Lake Cuyamaca and on our way home we stopped by JP's Pit Stop: first of all, Laurie (I hope I spelled your name right) was so sweet, welcoming, and friendly. Right away she gives you that loving country feel. We got 2 iced Americano's which definitely did the trick haha and I got this breakfast bagel (I forgot exactly what it's called on the menu) but omg let me tell you! It was by far the best breakfast bagel I've ever had! She loaded it with eggs, bacon, cheese. Delicious! My husband also told her it was my 40th Birthday and she gave me a German chocolate cupcake with a candle! I seriously can't get over the quality of service and how Laurie made my day! Stopped here to buy firewood last weekend. The cashier rang me up and was very nice. Owner Frank was incredible! Came over to greet us and offered to carry it out. His firewood is the best! About 1/4 pine and 3/4 oak. He said start with the pine then stoke with the oak. Wow! Best campfire ever. The pine bundles usually just through so fast. We poked around inside. Very fun vibe! Wish we could have had lunch there but we already ate. Definitely will visit again! read more
