Dudley's is always a great stop! It's a little pricey however it's worth the money for these great tasting bakery items.

Dudley's has Sandos and baked goods, delicious macarons with a line out the door. bread for sale too. long line but with it for the experience. some couch seating by the door. very large space but not much seating.

Such a cute and charming local bakery to get delicious pastries, sandwiches, whole loaves of bread, cafe drinks! We tried their spinach feta pastry, raspberry cheese danish, and spiced apple walnut pastry. They were all tasty, flaky, buttery with the perfect level of sweetness. Their chipotle turkey sandwich was also fresh, flavorful, and filling! All the ingredients complemented each other from the pepper jack cheese to the red onion, tomato, chipotle aoili and jalapeño cheddar bread. They sell whole loaves of all sorts of breads, pies, cookies, muffins, cafe moto coffee, local honey, etc. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating as well and plenty of free parking. A must stop in town! Prices are very fair and reasonable and service is prompt and efficient!

A must stop when driving up to Julian. They have delicious pies, jams, olive oil, and their famous bread. Great variety of flavors and good price. I always get the jalapeño cheddar and the raisin date. You can always freeze the bread and grab some slices as you go so the bread does not go bad. They also have coffee and breakfast options and a cool house items to buy. :)

Very cute coffee shop on our trip to Anza borrego and glad we stopped by. Honestly we actually stopped by just use a restroom but this was a really good find. Lovely aesthetic on the inside and quite a nice selection of items for purchase as well. The variety of breads they have was unbelievable! Put the bread lover in me really wanted to go all out. The pastry selection was also really lovely. Husband and I got the Pistachio Stuffed Flaky Brioche and it was really delicious even a few hours later. The pistachio cream was smooth and not too sweet either and when really well with the croissant. Sister-In-Law got the Nutella flaky brioche and that definitely did have quite a lot of Nutella inside! Definitely value for money. Friends also got one of the savory pastries and they said the flavor was really nice but it wasn't really crispy.

We come here at Dudleys mostly for their Pies, their bread and other Pastries were good too. My wife can eat a whole pie here in one sitting by herself; that's how much she likes their pies. We mostly eat here at their place and then buy more pies to go. We always purchase their APPLE PEACH PIE and APPLE MANGO PIE. Both pies were really good, have plenty of fruits inside their pies too, and most of all they are not overly sweet. Staff are friendly, and plenty of parking around.

I haven't tried the baked goods yet. We stopped here on our way to Julian and decided to come back on our way home and bought baked goods, a Dutch apple pie. When you come to Julian (technically not Julian yet) you gotta get a pie. The pie looks good. And the loaf looks yummy. The cashier did a nice gesture and she was friendly. The place looks inviting, didn't feel like sitting down to eat but the place looked like a good place to bring some baked goods home. Forgot to mention that the price of pie ($20.95) is way cheaper than my regular supermarket.

Raisin date but bread! I haven't had this in 30 years! Only waited 10 minutes to be helped - I wasn't looking forward to a long line and was happy to see it short midweek! Probably bc it wasn't a weekend. Yummy bread - next time I'll try other loaves - this time I just wanted a taste of nostalgia - be back sooner for more

The bread here is good and I like the Dudleys ginger raisin and molasses fruit bars. The service is always right on schedule and the ambience is always changing and clean and fun. It's great that they're open now seven days a week 730

We've been coming to Dudley's for over 30 years. In the old days, I would take orders from friends and family members and come home with 20 loaves of bread to distribute This has always been a very good bakery - for breads, muffins, cookies and pastries. Now, they also have a cute little gift shop. Today, we stopped by and bought a bear claw and a savory spinach pastry. The savory was good, but it almost had too much spinach. We really enjoyed the bear claw with a yummy almond paste and would definitely buy it again. I also purchased a few cute cards. They have clean restrooms, but you'll have to ask for the code to get in.

I've been going to Dudley's Bakery since I was a child! I have so many fond memories of weekend day trips to Julian with my parents, and we ALWAYS stopped into Dudley's for a loaf of bread and the most amazing molasses bars. All of these years later, I'm so happy to see their success and expansions, and the product is just as delicious as ever. The service is always lovely, and it's just so cute inside. Highly recommend!

    Bajapotle - really good!
    Eliza O.

This was the best find for me during our trip to Julian! The bakery has a lot of variety and the food is good! Tried the Bajapotle and it really hit the spot! The toasted jalapeño cheese bread was so good we bought a loaf - and a loaf of Asiago, and a few others. lol. Also tried the brioche with pistachio cream, which was soft and flaky. There was plenty of cream and it was a satisfying sweet treat. There's plenty to look at inside, too - mugs, dishes, soaps, cards, etc. and a fair amount of seating to enjoy your treats. The service was friendly. It did take a while for our sandwich order to be filled, but everything's freshly made, so that could be why - and it was crowded. Lots of people seem to like this place. If you're in Julian, definitely check out Dudley's!

    Andy P.

oh man... what can I say about this pastry/bakery? If you are on the way to Julian, Dudley's is a must! When you walk in, you'll see the wide array of pastry, breads, and other cool items to check out. Mainly, I was there for their bread. Its as good as it gets! Their jalapeno bread is wickedly good. The garlic one is the next in line of my favs there. How good you ask? You'll need to finish it within 6 days. Otherwise, you'll need to freeze it to prolong the shelf life. Why? Because there are no preservatives in their loafs. Its the real deal. Inside, you'll find a lot of kitchen and random items which is quite cute to browse around. There's plenty of seating area to enjoy your snacks and morning brew. I would say go early and stop in for a pit stop. Its the best!

This was the best meal we've had in a long time. Pot pie was so cute as crust was a not the traditional crust on top, but rather chicken shaped crust standing in the pot pie, and the pearl onions were the eggs. Wife said it was the best pot pie she has ever eaten. My Hot Chicken sandwich had a taste profile that was the right heat and nice flavor balance. Best I've ever eaten. I even brought friends who had never been here before, thinking it could become one of our regular stops when we're out hitting the trails. Instead, it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth... and not just from the food. Waitress: Where do I even start. She claimed she was hard of hearing--but her attitude spoke loud and clear. Tossing menus on the table, aggressively slamming salsa down, and getting snarky over being off because our party count was off by one person. Seriously? It took two seconds to adjust the table, but apparently that was just too much. Yes, she technically did her job... but with such a cold, unwelcoming, and rigid attitude that it made the whole experience uncomfortable. What really stood out? We were there first and ready to order, yet she chose to take care of every smaller table that came in after us. No communication, no "I'll be right with you," nothing. Just ignored. Basic courtesy clearly isn't part of the service here. And trust me--I used to be a waitress. I handled large parties all the time and actually communicated with my tables. It's not that hard. Honestly, if gratuity hadn't already been forced onto the bill, she would've gotten $0. The only pleasant person we encountered was the busser--quick, friendly, and actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Maybe swap their roles, because he outperformed her by a mile. Food: Let's talk about the food... if that's what we're calling it. Everything came out cold. Not "warm-ish," not "could be hotter"... just straight up cold. It felt like our plates were sitting under a heat lamp for way too long before making it to the table. One "white" friend asked to have her meal fixed--fine, no problem. But when another "Hispanic" friend asked the same thing? Suddenly there was attitude, menu slamming, and mumbling under her breath. So... what exactly was the difference? Why the inconsistency and hostility? If the kitchen is that backed up, maybe management should step in and help instead of letting food die in the window. Just a thought. Final Thoughts: This place had potential... but that waitress single-handedly ruined it. We'll be taking our group (and our money) elsewhere--Dudley's Bakery is looking like a much better option moving forward. I usually bring large groups out here, so this isn't a small loss. Unfortunately, if this is the level of service they're okay with, this place isn't going to improve anytime soon. At this point, it's less "Farmhouse charm" and more "junky barn energy."

This is a tough one. This place does good food. And beer. But I went in asking about their…read moreprotocols for gluten allergies. There are limited dinner options in Julian. And with a kid with celiac, who can get sick for days if a crumb of bread is digested, options are even more limited. We were stoked when the woman at the register pointed out that the bbq and salads were mostly GF (without croutons). And while she did mention there's a chance of cross-contamination with the gluten free pizza, as they make pizzas and there's flour around, she mentioned they change gloves and use clean utensils and have had many celiac folks eat there without issue. Bit we went instead for the most basic and least risky options. Half smoked chicken and a wedge salad. Then I saw the house made pickles. My kid loves pickles. I asked if they were GF. Any seasoning or anything that might contain gluten? She asked the cook and he said no. Gluten free. Which makes sense. They're pickles. Took the order back to the house and the kid went straight for the pickles. I don't have the time to explain how awesome it is when this kid, who's whole outlook on food has been shattered because of the celiac, can have some pickles and not have to think about getting sick. But here we are. From pure joy to anxiety and sadness in two seconds flat. I'm posting this not to bag on this establishment or the people that work there. We know it's a kitchen that serves food and drinks containing gluten. But when I've asked about protocols and tried to do my best to get the info, as well as making it clear that we are trying to be very careful about gluten as it's an allergy, not a preference, and then being reassured that the pickles and the bbq is as safe as they can make it, I was pretty bummed to find a whole freakin crouton in the middle of the container of pickles. Half of which the kid had already happily devoured. We The restaurant industry is not set up for people with food allergies. We know this. We try our best to navigate it by asking questions and getting as much info as possible. There are places that don't even know what celiac is. So we leave. There are places that are extremely knowledgeable about it from front of house to the chef. Those places we can put more trust in. It's never 100%. But fortunately we've had more good experiences than bad with restaurants that take it seriously. I'm sure this was a mistake. Not intentional. Pickles too close to the croutons. I can see how it can happen. All I'm asking is to be better about it. Be aware. Especially when I've asked repeatedly if it's all good and the answer given is yes. Or just tell me it's not safe to eat there for people with celiac and we can be on our way. A lot of restaurants are becoming more aware and offering more GF options. This is great. Lots of people eat gluten free to avoid carbs or because of gluten sensitivity. Celiac is another level. And a painful one at that. We appreciate and love going to eat food at places that take it seriously. Hoping for more of those places in the future. Julian Beer Co. we love you, but take note. Croutons don't belong in your pickles.

We stumbled upon this restaurant and ask them if they had an apple pie and they did. This review is based on just their apple pie. I was so happy when I ate their apple pie because it was so good and we immediately ordered their whole apple pie to go as a gift for someone. Their stuff all friendly and the place is very cozy. I will go back again when I visit Julian

Old school diner vibes, pretty simple - in a good way!…read more Our waitress was super friendly. It's tight in there so the place fills up fast. It was easier to seat a party of two than a larger group. But people aren't there to lounge so tables seemed to turn over timely. Not gonna lie, it was hard seeing people who ordered after get their food first. But again, it was packed on a weekend. Nothing fancy going on here, burgers, sandwiches - the usual. I did enjoy the phosphate sodas that you can choose the flavor of. Orange and vanilla was pretty tasty! The California BLT comes with avocado and cream cheese. Putting the cream cheese on the side worked, I tried it and ate it with most of my sandwich. Don't think I needed it it every bite though. Coleslaw was really good! Loved the old toys they have displayed, even picked up some jax for my mom. That's her childhood claim to fame. The train that goes around up-top is fun too! Lots of historical items and pictures. It's an old place that's holding it down. Glad I checked it out.
