I had a very disappointing experience with Julia Testa flowers yesterday - on Valentine's Day. I placed an order for delivery several weeks ago and received a confirmation that they would be delivered on Valentine's Day between 12 pm and 3 pm - a three-hour window. After 3 pm, when no flowers had been delivered, I reached out via email to find out what was happening with my order. I was told that the delivery was delayed because they were busy and that the flowers would be delivered by 8 pm. I expressed my frustration regarding the new, five-hour window but resigned myself to the new timeframe and asked the recipient, who had other plans, to wait for the delivery. At 8 pm, no delivery had been made, and I had received no notification from Testa Flowers. I once again reached out via email and was told: "It has been an incredibly busy day due to the overwhelming number of orders we received. Since it is so late in the day, we can deliver this first thing in the morning and make this a priority". You can imagine how upsetting this type of response was. I ordered well in advance and paid to have the flowers delivered within the window of time I selected ON Valentine's Day, not the day after. Once the Testa Flowers staff knew they were behind schedule for the delivery, I should have been notified. Not only was all of the outreach from my end, but the final email stating that their shop was overwhelmed with orders was just unacceptable. What professional flower shop does not expect, and adequately plan for, a lot of business on Valentine's Day? To complete the unpleasant experience, a wilted and sad looking arrangement was finally delivered yesterday at almost 10 pm. The recipient was already in pajamas and alarmed by the unexpected visit. I did receive a full refund for my order, along with an apology for the botched delivery. However, the recipient's experience was horrible and they ended up with a crappy arrangement of flowers. In a city like New York, where there are so many flower shops to choose from, I would think a pricey shop like Testa Flowers would offer gold standard customer service. No matter how wonderful their selection of arrangements or how beautiful their website is, those things never supersede customer service. read more

I will NEVER get flowers from anyone else, once I have experienced what Julia Testa can create. I have ordered flowers from them a number of times, and each time I get rave reviews from the recipients on quality, arrangement, type of flower as well as delivery and service. They are excellent all around. Whenever I call, they help me figure out what I want and make the ordering process easy. Unreliable, late, disorganized, unprofessional, did not communicate and ruined my birthday. My mom ordered a flower delivery to arrive between 9AM-12PM in Brooklyn and I stayed home all morning to wait for them (although I didn't know what the "delivery" would be). At 11:30AM she called to check on timing and was told they were running late and given a bunch of excuses, primarily that the driver made a mistake by going to Manhattan before Brooklyn and that there was traffic. No one took the initiative to call and let us know they were running late. Instead I wasted my whole birthday morning waiting for flowers that never arrived. This was of course supposed to be a surprise, but my mom ended up sharing the details with me (through tears) so that I didn't continue waiting. She felt extremely guilty and disappointed that her birthday message never made it, and I am livid that her kind gesture was ruined by this incompetent company. It doesn't matter how pretty the flowers are if they never get delivered, and it is absurd that they didn't simply call to let us know of the delay. There are a million florists in the city, I suggest finding one who is reliable and won't ruin your special occasion. Too risky, not worth it. Zero stars. read more

I've never been one to write reviews before on yelp but after a horrible experience with Julia Testa, I felt compelled to warn others. I would give zero stars if I could. I'm not sure who I spoke to on the phone but I specifically called looking for peonies. The correspondent said they have some in stock, light pink ones. I asked for a bouquet with peonies and a few sprigs of eucalyptus, she added that anemones could be complimentary and I agreed. What arrived was a bouquet of mixed greens, anemones, and ranunculus. I emailed Julia asking about this miscommunication and her response was extremely unprofessional. She told me peonies they don't have any in stock and "they are not available since it's not spring in any part of the world right now." She told me to unwrap my bouquet to fully enjoy it and be happy with the dutch clooney ranunculus they used instead of the peonies we had discussed over the phone. The least they could've done was call me back and tell me there was a misunderstanding and they don't have peonies so I could have the opportunity to withdraw my order. Julia couldn't even utter a simple apology for this mistake. I won't be making the mistake of going back to this business. She has a terrible attitude and her blooms are disappointing at best. read more

Lousy service. Scheduled a phone call with the owner to go over pricing and she ended up calling 30 mins. late. I asked for a quote which I never received. I waited a week and a half only to be told they already have another event booked that same day as my event and will be unable to help me. Don't waste your time, you'll have better luck elsewhere. read more

Even though the delivery instructions couldn't have been more apparent they went on and screwed up that by leaving the flowers at the wrong place. Even after I was able to track them down even though the woman I spoke to on the phone at the place was rude and nasty they looked like they were days old and didn't last for more than another day. It is my daughter's 18th birthday today, and the first one where she is away from home. She is a college freshman in NYC and birthdays have always been a big deal to her so I needed to send something really outstanding for my vivacious, flower-loving girl! Not knowing where to begin from out of state, I researched online and fell in love with Julia Testa's website and her backstory. I decided to call and lovely floral designer, Nicole, immediately answered and intently listened to me go into detail about my daughter's personality and love of color. You could tell she wanted the bouquet to be as spectacular as I did. As promised, she texted me a photo and let me know the delivery was headed out the door in route to my daughter's dorm. She even added some extra flowers, outside of my budget, "to make it extra special." Here is a partial shot of arrangement sitting in dorm window. My daughter was so excited she FaceTimed me to show me the gorgeous packaging and presentation when it arrived. Nicole nailed it and made me feel like a great mama from across the country. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The website is easy to navigate and shows a variety of floral arrangement styles that are all lovely. However, the actual arrangement delivered barely resembled the photo. As a result, it lacked the nuances of creativity that brought the arrangement to life. The owner was concerned and offered to send an additional floral arrangement. However, the effect of the gift was already lost and and I was embarrassed as the sender. In the end, Julia explicitly made it clear how much time she had spent "wasted" with me (only because she kept counting flowers versus understanding the problem) and hung up on me. Flowers received on Friday and were completely rotten by Sunday with a terribly foul odor filling the apartment. It is a complete embarrassment to get photos of rotten flowers sent as a gift. We ordered the "Boundless Blooms" for $95, which was advertised as "designed with long-lasting flowers". The arrangement contained Calla stems and cymbidium blooms. We sent photos to Julia of dead, rotten flower carcasses taken Monday, only days after the shipment. The odor was so foul we had to throw the vase out in the garbage on the street. Julia claims that these "long lasting" flowers were not supposed to last from Friday until Sunday even. We didn't ask for our money back, but kindly asked for a replacement arrangement. yesterday i walked into julia testa with flowers i had gotten my mom from the bodega. for some background im a full time college student who barely makes enough to eat dinner every night. anyway, i walked into this flowershop and i was in an awe of the smells and how beautiful everything was. i was waiting for one of the employees to finish with a customer, so i could ask her if she could possibly give me a paper bag or wrap my flowers for my mom. a few moments later she finishes and i begin to ask her kindly, "hi I have a quick question, but only if you can of course---" she cut me off rudely and and emphasized her attitude "no im not going to arrange some bodega flowers." JUST TO BE CLEAR IT WAS THE MIDDLE AGED WOMAN WITH BROWN HAIR MEDIUM BUILD. but honestly don't give theSe people your money, support the bodega down the street and buy 4 kinds of flowers and arrange them yourself. Was staying at the So ho grand hotel a few blocks away from this flower shop from the minute I walked in I knew I was in in the right place. I wanted to send flowers to my girlfriend for our 1 year anniversary the roses JT hand picked were perfect and along with the arrangement it was beautiful and my girlfriend loved it!! I was very disappointed with the arrangement I received. I have ordered their Winter Wonderland, where the description was it was designed in a gorgeous Silver Cylinder. Instead of that, the arrangement was in a horrible, chip plastic, not a cylindric vessel. For the money I have paid it should have been in a much more decent vase, and in a more modern cylindric vase as it was a discription. read more

My son and daughter in law hired them to do their wedding, it was a small wedding for 14 ppl in a restaurant. A week before the wedding my daughter in laws father got very sick and was put into hospice. Every vendor we called couldn't be more gracious and returned the money with no penalty's. They refused to help at all. Saying they ordered the flowers and promised a worker work. We said where giving you a weeks notice. They said the best we could do was give us $160 back. At that point I said forget it deliver the flowers to my home. My daughter is getting married next year and is having a huge wedding. If they would of worked with us they certainly would of gotten the job. When we told them my daughter in laws father was dying Julia had the nerve to say sorry not her problem. Not only did they not deliver what we paid for but the arrangements were all smaller than what we ordered. They charged us $144 for candles which we never got. Please don't use them. They were a horror. Everyone else couldn't of been nicer when told we had to cancel their wedding. These ppl are disgusting read more

I'm fortunate to live near the Soho store, I popped in and with in minutes Julia knew exactly what I wanted for the restaurant table and the bar. The nicest people, too. Really disappointed with the service here. I came in to Julia Testa to get my wedding bouquet and some small arrangements for a small family dinner post wedding. I had wanted an all white wedding bouquet with a specific flower (rononculus) that they had a ton of in their fridge. I had mentioned multiple times that this was going to be the main flower in the bouquet and that I only wanted white and potentially some soft pinks. For the table arrangements I wanted lots of colorful flowers. The women helping us seemed very capable and had written everything down which made me feel confident about the execution of the order. I come to pick up my wedding bouquet and it's got a ton of flowers I hadn't asked for- with different colors- and zero of the one flower I had asked for. It also happened that they had run out of the flower so couldn't supplement it in. It's kind of a huge let down when your wedding bouquet doesn't resemble anything close to what you had communicated. The flowers had already turned brown at the edges an hour after I had picked them up. The tables arrangements were the complete opposite of what I had ordered as well- had asked for lots of color- they were all white. It was overall a really disappointing experience, especially it being for my wedding. I'd go here for a more casual order, but nothing for an important event. read more
