If you are looking for 'Funeral Home meets Office Lobby' flower arrangement, this is your place!! My boyfriend used their services for our 2-year anniversary. We live in the neighborhood, so he stopped by their shop and personally placed an order for a bouquet. He picked a few flowers that he liked in the shop and asked them to use their creativity to put together something nice for this very special occasion. When he came to pick up the arrangement a week later, he was very underwhelmed by the size and presentation. For $175 he was presented with a 'Funeral Home meets Office Lobby' flower arrangement!! It was small, but most of all ugly. Two thirds of the bouquet was filler greenery with 2-3 five-dollar flowers stack in-between. The color composition was yellow, green and purple!!! No roses, peonies or any other nice flowers that one would expect in a 2-year anniversary bouquet. There was nothing creative or romantic about this arrangement. The vase it came in was made out of cheap plastic and looked dirty/reused. For $175 you would think they would at the very least give you a nice clean glass vase/container. My boyfriend realized this was a big mistake, and immediately felt very guilty so he ran to a corner deli and bought a dozen roses hoping to make up for the 'office front desk flowers' arrangement he was given. When I came home and saw the flowers, I could not believe these were my 2-year anniversary flowers!! I've never seen anything worse than that. And I got flowers from Teleflora and corner deli (the freshest roses in NYC by far) many times. I refused to unwrap them and told him to get that crap out of my house. He brought the bouquet back to the shop the next day and asked them for a refund (I specifically told him that I do not want anything from that place). They offered a replacement instead. The replacement bouquet had small rose buds in it and was executed in redish pink color theme. It was even smaller that the original. It did not have full size flowers in it and still had a big chunk of ugly filler greenery as the center piece and came in a dirty old plastic container with leftover algaes from a previous arrangement. Creativity is obviously very subjective, but you should still be able to trust the florist to create a nice full size fresh flower arrangement for a romantic occasion. For $175, which is their entry level price, you basically get funeral home sympathy flowers that you wouldn't even bring to your aunt's house, let alone girlfriend or future fiancé. Save your money and avoid being disappointed and order from Teleflora or get two dozen of fresh roses at your local deli. read more

I live around the corner, and have popped by a few times giving the place a chance as it's convenient. I usually buy my wife flowers on my way back from work. By the time i finish and commute it is 45- to 30 mins before closing. The 2 times I was greeted by an unhelpful person who wasn't willing to move a finger. The famous "sorry" followed by an excuse. I understand it takes time to make a bouquet just give me whatever you have, 3 roses in a plastic bag, "sorry (not sorry)". They just don't care. I recently ordered an arrangement for my wife's birthday. I wanted to order from what seemed to be a quality company and paid $160 for something that I hoped would be suitably impressive and beautiful for the celebration. I was also looking for an option for a corporate account for gifts and a series of events planned later this year. I ordered the "as seen" version of the arrangement rather than the "small" version and paid the higher price. What arrived was clearly a small version and certainly not what you'd expect for the cost. I reached out to customer service and even sent pictures. Although the arrangement that arrived was not what I'd ordered, it was approx only nine inches in width, I would have been happy simply with a refund of the difference in price of the two sizes. They declined to do this sending a broadly defined disclaimer which said they don't guarantee a customer will receive what's "as shown" in the website photograph and that in their opinion I'd received "full value". It should have been a straightforward matter to rectify with responsive, quality customer service but they chose otherwise. I'm sure the Julia Testa team are hardworking decent people but the takeaway here if you choose to purchase from them is to clearly define your expectations and ask them to be specific on dimension so your expectations are met. If you don't, you may receive the same disclaimer I did. Thankfully several of our guests at the small party brought beautiful flowers from their respective Brooklyn neighborhoods and I'd recommend you do the same. Based on my particular experience with Julia Testa don't assume as I did that paying a premium will result in superior quality. If you have a good quality local florist seriously consider giving them your business. read more

I almost forgot to write this very deserving review. This place has terrible communication. My first Mother's Day consisted of an unpleasant trip to Julia Testa Designs. We had no choice but to return the plant we had recived since we had no idea what we were getting. First of all, if there's an item that's sold out or you are unsure you won't have available that day," don't sell it/promote it on your website! I mean I understand if you are asking for a flower arrangement, than yes, florist do your thing, surprise me with beautiful flowers. I trust your creativity. But my husband placed an order for a plant and a very pretty vase for flowers I like to purchase during my trips to the market. There was an intention there. That was supposed to be my first Mother's Day gift. A plant to grow old with, and a vase for my flowers. He placed the order on Wednesday, Mother's Day week. He later receives a call, on Friday, 2 days before Mother's Day, by the florist, maybe Christina... She notifies him that the plant he ordered (Dieffenbachia Plant) is now sold out and they may not be able to get that exact one for Sunday. She tells him that there is a possibility they'll receive it but she's not sure. She also mentions that the vase is also sold out but they may be getting more on that day. This is 2 days before Mother's Day! She also explains that she will try her best to accommodate him and send over a plant and a vase very similar to what he ordered. So my trusted her and agreed. Mother's Day arrives and we sadly receive a very basic, larger, Home Depot looking plant. I mean, even the note my husband wrote was misspelled. It felt and looked like a rushed job. We were never notified of such big changes. We were so confused. The vase was missing and the plant huge. A complete switch to our order. We got a bigger plant that we did not want (Peace Lily) and a "high quality" terracota pot (as Christina or Maria like to call it) for the plant. But that's not the worst part of this experience. When we called and asked about this matter, Maria, the florist seller, said she would transfer us to the actual florist because they were the ones who took our order. ???? Weird because we ordered online. Anyway, an hour goes by and the florist never calls. We then call again, and Maria says the florist will get back to us soon. "It's a busy day" (it's also Mother's Day and I'm stuck calling you!) another hour goes by and we call Maria again. I explained my frustration with Maria and tell her that it is really upsetting that no one can give us an answer as to why our order is completely different. We were very unhappy with the plant. Maria states that she can't help us because she didn't take the order. So we wait again. Finally, Christina "emails" us and explains that they sent whatever matched what we paid. ????? That's not what we ordered! We didn't order "whatever" matched our price. We call Maria again, (there is no other number to call) and tell her that we just want to return the plant. We do not want it. Maria then says she has to call Julia. Well, finally! She then texts my husband and tells him to return the plant at the Soho location. As if! Right? All this during Mother's Day, all of this during a PANDEMIC! No empathy whatsoever, no, "I'm sorry for your troubles." Not to mention, the "high quality terracota pot" was missing a plate/tray. We couldn't understand what was going on. This was really upsetting. During the whole situation I took to Instagram and tried to reach out to Julia about my situation. I was hoping she would hear me out. But of course, she instead deleted my comment and blocked me from the account. What an absolute insult. I'm disgusted and will never buy anything from here. Similar to others, my flowers on Valentine's day were supposed to arrive and did not arrive until we called twice and emailed at around 11 PM at night. We had ordered weeks in advance and it seems same day orders flooded them with deliveries. However, you'd assume those ordering in advance would take priority but that does not seem to be the case. Flowers arrived wilted, like they had been sitting in the car all day. Finally, they did email me back (2 days later) and asked if I had a picture of the flowers, as I asked maybe for a credit since we had to throw the flowers out within 48 hours as most of them had completely wilted. I found it odd after such poor service this was their response. Really poor customer service and told the friends who recommended this place that there are plenty other local businesses we can support in the meantime when looking for flowers in the NYC area! read more
