Stopped in at Jules for the first time yesterday for lunch. Very quiet for a Saturday afternoon but that may have been because it was pouring rain. I definitely prefer a thin crust pizza to a doughy one. The only thing I would have wished about Jules' pies is that they were a little crispier. That said they had a nice variety of pies available by the slice. I had a whole wheat with eggplant and a regular with fresh tomatoes, mozz, and basil. Both were very tasty. There were also several meat pies, one with pulled pork. Clean, modern dining room, pleasant staff, decent, not-too-loud background music and a recycling receptacle. My wife like Peace-a-Pizza but I've never cared much for it. They put some kind of herb in the dough which I find really off-putting. When I'm in the mood for a slice or two, I'll be stopping at Jules. read more

The pizza was really quite good; I understand why they can't make each slice fresh, but I still disagree with whoever said they make the stuff in the morning and then let it sit all day; I watched someone pop a new one out of the oven and set it down right behind a nearly-depleted variety. I picked up a slice each of Veggie #2 and #6. Both were excellent; crisp crust, fresh toppings, with good balances of flavors. I particularly appreciated the preparation of the artichoke on #6, as that's entirely too easy to screw up badly. Also, I have to note what I got certainly didn't *taste* several hours old. That said, I'd really like to get an entire pie next time I go, to see exactly how good it is fresh out of the oven. On a side note, I couldn't even have told you it was gluten-free if I hadn't known already. As for the atmosphere, it was... odd. Reminded me quite a bit of what would happen if Chipotle was running a pizza joint. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it doesn't feel like a street-corner pizza joint or like an Italian restaurant, so it just doesn't seem to fit. All-in-all, well worth $3.00 a slice, as two slices was more than enough to make for a decent lunch. I'm not sure it's the kind of pizza I would order for dinner (too light), but that's a matter of personal taste more than anything. It gets a four on flavor and relatively low prices; the atmosphere and the fact that it has yet to develop its own take on anything ELSE normally served at a pizza joint deny it a five-star rating. read more

After wanting to try Jules Pizza for months now, I finally got around to today! We ordered a half and half pie, half buffalo chicken, half veggie #2 (tomatoes, mozz, garlic, other delicious things). I'm really sad about this one. Jules was our go to spot almost every Friday night and now I don't think we can go anymore! My husband suffers from celiac disease and to be able to find a local pizza shop that makes incredible thin crust pizza AND gluten free was a god send but the past few times we've ordered from here, my husband got sick each time. This past Friday, we placed our usual gluten free order and he tested it with the Nima sensor (the digital test that detects gluten in food) and two tests on each pizza turned up positive for gluten found. Really disappointing. I'm not sure if the staff are sharing ovens with regular dough and gluten free dough or just being careless about their preparation and cross-contamination but I cannot stress enough that even the tiniest bit of gluten for someone who suffers from the disease can be catastrophic. I know they've had some changes in staff at this particular location but it just seems like each time we go we are holding our breath to see if he will get sick. Unfortunately, as much as it hurts my soul, I don't think we'll be back. read more

My kids love this place because they can get a big slice of very plain, simple thin-crust pizza that's cut into easy-to-hold pieces. The staff is very friendly here. I have never seen a frowning face. I've tried many different slices here and they ranged from okay to very good. I kind of wish they added a little something more to their pizzas, like more seasoning, because every slice was a bit bland. The ingredients are top notch. It's just, I dunno, unsalted, very little peppered, no garlic... something. I guess some people like their pizza bland. Where this place excels is the sheer variety of slices available. Some pizza shops require you to buy a full pie in order to try the more interesting pizzas, but here there are so many different slices to choose from, you will walk in amazed at the selection. It is the most expensive pizzeria pizza I have ever had, but it is well worth it considering you are paying for quality ingredients. The variety is phenomenal and they always get the divine cheese/sauce/dough ratio right. Never too much of one thing, so it is exactly as pizza should be. I love the veggie options, and they have at least 4 to choose from at anytime. They also have some of the most delicious cuts of meat on their pizza, none of that overly greasy unidentifiable rubber stuff that flavors the whole pie, but thin cuts that burst with flavor and complement the pizza. The giant box the large pizzas come in is always a riot too, trying to ride with it in the car can be a challenge if you don't have a back seat! If you are eating in they have a clean comfortable and abundant seating area. The only downside for some is the lack of (unhealthy) drinks. read more

T searched for a new pizza place near us that we could try out. He landed on Jules and all the positive Yelp reviews so we went for it. We were NOT expecting "chick" pizza (as we termed it). (I didn't read the reviews before we went.) So maybe that soiled my expectation somewhat. We started with a Goat Fiesta salad with goat cheese, greens, walnuts and shallots. I think there was one, maybe two, dollops of goat cheese on top and a handful of walnuts. Suffice it to say, it was a bit disappointing. Everything was very fresh and gathered from local growers, which was nice, but I like my salads with more toppings. On to the pizza. We split a large vegetable #6: Artichoke hearts, chopped organic tomatoes, arugula, garlic, mozzarella, fresh cubed mozzarella, gorgonzola, oregano. The crust was so thin it was cracker-like, no chew at all. I know, I know, "hence the name." But that sort of crust isn't my cuppa. The mozzarella that was melted right on top was already hardened, like it had been cooked an hour ago and then topped with the other fresh ingredients mentioned above before being served. It wasn't awful but, like I said, just not my thing. Service was very nice and the place was clean. I would go back if someone wanted to explore but overall I'd rather tuck into a good old-fashioned tomato pie. read more

I really do like Jules' pizza, and the atmosphere is perfect for an almost-upscale, eco-conscious pizza joint. But every time I'm there, something crazy happens. This place could go to 5-stars really quickly with a little professionalism training for their staff. (Sadly, not just the young ones.) My favorite Jules memory is when the elderly woman in front of me leaned on her cane and asked the man behind the counter if he could walk her pizza out to her. He told her no, he couldn't. He had to stay behind the counter. So, she was faced with balancing her tray in one hand. When I offered to carry her order, the staffer realized how ridiculous he was being and did carry out her slices. My favorite: the veggie with the edamame and ricotta. They always have a lot of great looking veggie choices, but I've never seen a vegan (even cheese-less) option. You probably have to order those whole and not just take a slice. read more

Pizza is extremely overrated and overpriced at $3 per slice. It seems that they make their pizza first thing in the morning and just let it sit out in the open all day. Therefore even at 1pm when I tried the slices, it didn't have the freshest taste to it. Also, I asked if they could really make the slices hot since I would eat within 10 minutes of getting the pizza. I ate the slices about 15 minutes down the road and the pizza was cold. I'm not sure what all the accolades are about with this pizza? I know Philly isn't known for having quality pizza shops, but Yelpers really let me down this time. Perhaps they should visit Brazil and Italy to see what real pizza tastes like? I am a HUGE fan of this pizza. When I first walked in to the restaurant, I was pleasantly suprised. It was CLEAN. Everyone was VERY friendly and it smelled wonderful. My dining companion and I each order two slices, which, after she cut them, the server decided they were too small and gave us each one more free of charge. She also recommened lime sid to go with the choice of pizza! I had a chicken balsamic slice. Close your eyes and taste the sweet and trat taste of balsamic reduction over top of a light tomato sauce. Yeah, I tried it and it wasn't for me. I was expecting something more along the lines of Mellow Mushroom and their gluten free pizzas. I get the concept is flatbread but there was a lack of seasoning in there that just through the entire pizza off. They do have great toppings but the dough itself was flat, tasteless, and too "wet" for me. Really top-notch business. The decor is spot on. The flavors are spot on. The prices of spot on. The employees are friendly. I went in for the first time and was extremely impressed. The place had a hip clean vibe to it. The pizzas all look beautiful and fresh. I was worried about paying 2.95 per slice, but two slices is easily enough for one person for lunch. Even down to the thought to serve on wooden boards makes the whole place feel extremely authentic. Its not so easy to see from the street, but well worth finding this gem. read more

It's okay pizza. I appreciate the use of locally sourced, organic ingredients, and the menu features thoughtful, if not inspired, combinations. However, the end product really suffers from the conveyor belt ovens they use. They're just not hot enough to produce great pizza. There's also just an overall lack of "oomph" or "gusto" or "stank", whatever you want to call it. I found the crust more like a stale cracker than what I think of as a traditional, thin, crispy-yet-chewy pizza crust. Also, my pie's temperature when delivered to the table, depending on where you touched it, ranged from tepid to almost hot and back to tepid. Just "meh", all around. I also ordered a salad, which was pre-made and just pulled from the fridge, already in the plastic to-go container, and handed to me (I was eating in). I've certainly had worse pizza (Jules is head and shoulders above the awful stuff from the big national chains), but having lived in Philadelphia for over 20 years now, there are MUCH better options in other neighborhoods which cost less and put way more personality and care into the pies. Jenkintown needs a real, wood-fired, long-rise dough, garlicky-sauce kind of place. Jules feels like mall-food. Maybe a mall for upper-middle-class people, but still a mall. read more

They have gluten free which accommodates my son's celiacs, and it's always a separate pie for him which is what we're used to but the good thing here is the medium GF pie is a great size!! I am sorry to report that I've only recently tried Jules. This has been on my to try list for a long time, but never got around to it. Despite their multiple locations, none of which are in areas that I frequent. And then a recent health kick got me out to Trader Joe's nearby, and I finally had my opportunity. I have only tried a few different "vegetarian" offerings, and absolutely loved them. Reminiscent of the pizza in Rome, this is fantastic - super delicious, fresh ingredients, lots of options, and very reasonably priced. Staff is super helpful and friendly. They have nutrition info - just ask for it! Also a nice selection of boylan's soda. I've been back three times already since my initial trial last month - I'm a fan. read more

We have more pizza places around here than I can imagine, but to my knowledge, very few of them offer thin crust pizzas. That's why I'm so grateful for Jules. They offer many thin crust options, ranging from Mexican to Margarita and dozens more, all of which are delicious and reasonably priced. I have really enjoyed each time I've come to Jules Thin Crust. The food is incredible and the service good. I have yet to be disappointed. But what drove me to write a review was the way they handled their mistake in my order a few nights ago. I ordered over the phone, without a menu in front of me. The gentleman was so kind and helpful to me, helping me with my previous orders and to match up what I wanted. When the call was complete, I had ordered a medium combo pie with vegan cheese the entire way. Upon picking it up, we realized it wasn't vegan cheese on the second half. While they remade my dinner, I went to pay. Instead of having me pay for the whole pie, they only charged me for what they had done right, then they also gave me a voucher for another night, frequent diner voucher. I didn't even have to ask for them to "make it right", they just did it without hesitation. If you are looking for great thin crust pizza, with either gluten free or vegan/vegetarian options (or plain ol' regular cheese and wheat), this is the place to go! 5 stars from me!!! read more

Everything is always super fresh & made to order. Employees are very pleasant & friendly, willing to accommodate. They have a loyalty program. They also keep track of your pizza orders so if you remember you really liked the last pizza but can't remember what was on it they can tell you. Plus they have gluten free crust. read more

Before Jules I never imagined craving a healthy slice of thin crust pizza....but Jules just does it so well (I know not all of it is "healthy" per se, but more so than your typical oozing-with-grease slice). Their ingredients always taste so fresh, and their seasonal pies are awesome. My favorite has to be the Veggie #12 with ricotta, edamame, caramelized onions, fresh mint, mozzarella and lemon vinaigrette. I'm all for differentiation in products. Sure, Jules could make regular pizzas and compete with Pizza Hut, Dominoes and every Tony's/Anthony's/Vinny's/insert Italian-American sounding first name Pizza place. That's the good part. Jules offers something a little different and I commend them for offering some more unique toppings than you'll find around. The problem, as usual for most pizza places, is in the dough. I get it, flatbread is supposed to be... flat. But that doesn't mean you can't add a little salt or forget that the best part about thin crust is the texture and undercook the pie. Leave that thing in there another minute or two or crank up that oven you've got. There should be a little bit of crust that's even burnt, it shouldn't look like flattened wonder bread. To sum it up, you're 90% there Jules. Go the remaining 10% and you'll have something. read more

I love Jules, but this location is the worst one. It was extremely dirty. They hardly had any pizza out to choose from, and when I asked for specific kinds, they told me they didn't have any. As I was leaving I heard them telling other customers they could pull those pies I wanted from the back. I will be sticking to the Newtown and Doylestown locations from now on. read more
