Not good. They advertised a new year celebration and asked three times to the waitress if they have a celebration and she said Yes! Then we decided to stay and pay the absolutely overpriced food,, spent 180.00 for a salmon which taste to nothing with a broccoli that I was not able to cut it, very under cooked, and then it was not dj or celebration music, it was a big disappointment get into a restaurant who advertised a Celebration and was not celebration at all, very expensive bill and now because I am complaining the staff is answering to me saying that I am lying about the music and about what the waitress said to us!!! read more

Not sure where to start, but I guess I'll start with the food. The basil pesto was dry and very very bland, zero taste. My wife got the thing and hers was the same way and some of the noodles were still crunchy. I got mine with shrimp and it came with 4 shrimp and it was 8.00 more. Really 2.00 per shrimp? When mine was brought out even the waitress thought it didn't have shrimp and sent it back, only to be told it was on the bottom. Our other friend had the chicken tenders and they were terrible, zero flavor and very bland. Her husband had a burger that he said was ok but nothing special. This place is trying way to hard to be trendy when it should focus on their food. Try maybe putting seasoning on it to give it some flavor. The view and setting is beautiful. Unfortunately the food was a complete let down. We where celebrating a birthday and so we wanted this to be special and good. You would expect at these prices to be served bread, you will be disappointed, to know you won't be getting any. My wife ordered grouper. It was fishy, not white and flaky like normal grouper. We were so disappointed. The place is gorgeous and quaint upon arrival. We were returning from a trip to Highlands from Atlanta today and stopped for lunch at 11:30 We were seated right away yet it took several minutes before someone came to ask us for a drink order we ordered our food after waiting about 4 more minutes for the waitress to return. That was not too bad but then it took 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Someone maybe the manager he didn't introduce himself noticed we had been sitting quite a while and came by to let us know it wouldn't be too much longer. I made the comment that it had been over 30 minutes. No apology and just said they sat many tables at once. We did not leave until 12:45 It's too bad because it looks lovely. They need better kitchen management. I noticed the table near us of 4 took well over 45 minutes because they were seated and had ordered before we arrived. read more

Top notch! High end establishment with great food service. My pork chop was a little under/cooked but the took it back and got fixed the issue with no problem. The server happened to be from Liverpool, England which only added to our good time since we support LFC in the premier league. Don't hold that against this place. It's fantastic and you'll enjoy your time no matter where you're from or who you may support. I added this last part bc it's worth noting their diversity in culture. Loved it! read more

This is one of the main reasons we travel through Dillard Georgia. We stay at the campground River Vista just up the street from the restaurant and make sure we have lunch or dinner here and allow extra special time for the awesome gift shop that is run by the owner. I had a great salmon dinner, my husband had shrimp and grits, our friends had the chicken breast and the Tuscan shrimp and we all were absolutely delighted. Two stars for the ambiance. Otherwise, not a very pleasant meal. Ordered mushroom bisque and burrata appetizers which were tasty, but took 25 minutes to be served. Five minutes later the entrees arrived...poor timing. No bread was offered even though the table was preset with bread plates. Had unsweetened tea with sweetener but no spoon to stir it. The entrees were pricey. Filet was $38. It was served without seasoning and the temp of the medium meat was cool. It was tender, but nothing special. The room was cold. read more

Waited 15 minutes for someone to even fill a water glass and that's after we went to tell someone that no one had been by to check on us yet. Fish dip was so-so. Drinks were not refilled during the meal until we went,again, to find someone to refill. Fish of the day was overcooked and the dUvqu2-sikjen-kawbebwrong side was served. We were set in a side room because "larger parties wouldn't fit in the regular dining room" (we had six in our party and had a reservation). What a delightful evening and dinner in a truly beautiful setting! Floor to ceiling windows along two sides of the dining room made us feel like we were eating out on the gorgeous grounds! Came in for dinner tonight with a group of friends and our children. We waited 20 minutes and no one came to our table and had to go in and ask to get server. At that point one of the hosts came over and took our drink order (she was very lovely and apologized for the wait). Our waitress then came over and told us about some new dishes on the menu and asked us to provide feedback if we ordered any of them. The waitress shared some details on the filet and talked about how great it was but also seemed very unsure of how to properly explain the dish. We ordered our food and the food for the children. The kids food took ages to come out and so did ours. We had explained that we wanted the food to come out as quickly as possible as we had four young children. One of the people in our group ordered the filet of which was cooked medium well, when it had been requested medium rare. The cut of meat had so much fat on it and even some parts that looked like grizzle. Never have we seen a filet that that looked so bad and so fatty, with parts that were inedible. The filet was also requested to come with fries but instead came with mashed potatoes. We shared feedback with the waitress on how disappointing the dish was and she said she would send over the manager. Instead the chef came out and defended the food and made us all feel very uncomfortable. Never in my fifteen plus years of working in hospitality have I had a chef come out and defend food in a manner that makes customers feel so uncomfortable. Overall such a disappointment, which is a shame as it's such a beautiful restaurant in a great setting. read more

3rd and last time visiting within a 4 month duration. Each one of the three times, the bill presented, is inconsistent with the menu prices, and those displayed. Most recently, the manager on duty insisted the higher price that showed on the bill included tax, to which the employee discounted and politely corrected him. The manager said he couldn't rectify the issue in the system. I've worked in the service industry and reversing a charge or crediting it back is very much possible and simple!! I would not recommend this place to others. I really wanted to love this place. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and out. My experience started good. I ordered a salad and an appetizer for lunch. I requested salmon instead of chicken on my salad. The waitress stated it would be a small upcharge (I would expect the waitress to know the cost of this common upgrade). I said I was fine with it. 35+ minutes later my appetizer and salad are brought to my table. I expected the appetizer sooner, but could look past it. It was bread, so I wouldn't expect it to take long to assemble in the kitchen. I was not asked by the waitress if I wanted it with my meal. The salad alone was good. The salmon was extremely salty and not paired well with the salad the way it was cooked (once again, I could look past the pairing because it wasn't part of the original menu item; however, an experienced chef would know how to pair salmon with an Asian salad). I asked for the check and a to go box for the appetizer. I received the bill and the salmon was a $14 upcharge (not a small upcharge, this nearly doubled the cost of the salad). I asked the waitress why she didn't check with me on the price (the lunch salad went from $18 to $32). She got a HUGE attitude right then and was extremely rude. I was appalled by her behavior. I paid my full bill and spoke with the manager. I can say he was very kind and did try to make things right by offering a gift card. I politely declined because I do not intend on returning. Maybe my expectations are too high for a $45 lunch for 1 person, but I was very disappointed with the food and service. read more

Genuinely, this place is awful. The food is subpar even with the gorgeous views. We had the grilled brie and bacon sandwich, the butternut squash ravioli, and the basic hamburger. First off, there was one piece of bacon in the sandwich that touted bacon as a main ingredient. Next, the butternut squash ravioli tasted like dirt and there was no salt involved at all when cooking the pasta. The filling inside the pasta tasted like sediment. I have never had a butternut squash roasted that tasted anything close to this. Finally, the hamburger was most definitely a frozen patty. Not to mention lacked any kind of seasoning except for some kind of fake smoke flavor; very akin to Burger King. The coleslaw that came with the side was old and had been held. It was limp and completely tasteless after being described as "spicy." The drinks were very good; however it took forever to get them. The only issue with the drinks was our bottle of wine was not opened at the table. Most of the time I am not a stickler for this but with the atmosphere and price point, there should most definitely be a competent server in place. We will not be back as there are MANY more places in the area that support a local clientele with excellent food. read more

The place is beautiful, but the dining experience was horrible. We were told we would be seated in 20-30 minutes but it was more like an hour. Once we were finally seated, we waited close to another hour for our food, which was very underwhelming. My wife and son got the crab cakes, but the portions were very small. I ordered the grouper. It was good, but again a small portion. Our other son ordered the herb crusted pork chop which was completely devoid of any herbs or seasoning of any sort. Our daughter got the pesto, which strangely had no flavor at all. I don't know how you make flavorless pesto. The noodles were also stuck together. Before the meal we assumed we would be ordering dessert because all the choices on the menu sounded amazing. But, by the time we got to dessert we just wanted to leave. The food is good, but VERY pricey for dinner. First off, we had to ask if there were any specials, only after asking did the waitress bring over the specials list. We ordered a $10 appetizer of about 5 fried asparagus stems to dip in a spicy dip (good), and 4 fried cheese squares to dip in a strange basil/sweet jam-like dip (it was weird). My main course was the gulf grouper which was good but overly salted and seasoned ($29). The side was a few julienned strips of zucchinis and carrots, and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I never did taste the garlic. My husbands baby lamb chops were good, but I think he only got 3 or 4 of the lollipop type ($30). I think their lunch menu is more reasonable. read more

Great new spot with a ton of potential! Drinks were excellent and food good. A few kinks need to be worked out but the staff is personable and enthusiastic and more than equal to the task. Just a few suggestions; dinner rolls or bread should be available. Dinner salads should be standard fare with entrées. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare but was a little tough. Restaurant was chilly as evidenced by a number of diners wearing coats. Everything is a little expensive so attention to detail is particularly important. read more

I was very excited to try Julep Kitchen on our recent visit to the Highlands area. It is a beautiful location that looks like a picture from Garden & Gun or Southern Living. We went for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. It was far from busy, but they were clearly understaffed. It took a long time to get our initial drink order, but eventually they came and my blueberry mojito was perfect. I was finished with my drink by the time my husband received his. When it was time to order, we found out that they did not have about 1/2 of the menu available. I was able to create a salad that met my needs. We ordered another round of drinks w our meal. Mine came out wrong and I sent it back (with lime instead of mint), my husband's did not come by the end of our meal so we cancelled it. When the check came, the server said they removed our drinks and gave us a discount for the long wait. They removed the drink they made wrong and the drink that did not come. This place was amazing. More than a great restaurant with terrific food but a destination where bucolic countryside meets well curated retail, coffee shop, event space, and cottages. As for the food, Caesar salad was one of the best I had; airline stuffed chicken breast was moist and tasty, and the halibut was seasoned perfectly. Don't normally take the time to write reviews however, this time I'm making an exception for Julep Farms! Just discovered this hidden gem a few months ago and have since returned an additional 3 times! Our most recent visit was for brunch on Sunday the 5th of July. As you can imagine, the restaurant was packed with holiday travelers. We ordered the parmesan truffle fries and ahi tuna for starters and it came out very timely. Fries were pipping hot and deliciously additive (especially the roasted garlic aioli)! The tuna was perfectly seared and sitting on a yummy marinaded seaweed salad. I chose the shrimp and grits, which was the best I ever had! The shrimp were blackened with authentic creole seasoning and sitting on a mound of creamy stone ground white cheese grits with tasso ham.....absolutely fantastic! What impressed our table the most was watching the owner busing tables then disinfecting to COVID 19 standards. It was apparent they were short staffed and he was doing what it takes to keep an independent biz up and running, especially during these trying times. Have been here many times since it opened, but this last experience was so bad that I may never go back! About 6 months ago, we stopped going there because of staffing and service issues, but heard that it was better and returned once last month. It was better, for sure, but last night was horrible! We waited for over 45 minutes for one in our party to get his drink, and when it finally came, it wasn't even made properly. Another in our party got completely the wrong drink, and our appetizers came out before everyone even had their drinks. We were seated outside, per our request, but they had no propane for the 4 heaters that we were seated next to. It was a chilly night, but even worse with no heaters! If you don't have the ability to keep guests comfortable outside, don't seat them outside! The manager came over at one point (when we asked for her) and admitted she's only been there 4 days, and our waiter had only started this week! Obviously, an issue of training...I assume there's was none! We left before even ordering entrees (after over an hour!), and still one of us had no drink! The manager apologized, but still brought us a bill!!! Until they get their act together, STAY AWAY!!! read more
