Everything is great. Poutine is a must. Love the burger and chicken sandwich. They need to work on the salads, maybe offer a wedge or Cobb salad with blackened chicken. The summer salad they have now is blah. Much better than the chophouse was. Service is good. The view and location is nice. read more

Lovely meal and a great patio! Tonight we tried the new Lake Burton Grill with optimism. We booked the patio knowing it was going to be in the high 70's thinking we can fail over to indoors if needed. No need! The weather was lovely and the patio, with 4 large fans, made sitting lakeside perfect. We enjoyed the seasonal local salad and prime rib. The salad was delicious and huge. The prime rib was more medium rather than medium rare but very nice still. The kitchen provided some extra raw horseradish upon request. I like to know the horse is there! A very nice meal on a perfect night. We'll be back. read more

Ordered a summer salad with croutons @$12.00 and husband ordered a chocolate molten cake @ $10.00. I guess the croutons jumped off the plate. The salad itself was ok, average. I was almost done when the cake was FINALLY delivered. Husband said the cake looked and tasted like the ones I buy at Kroger /@$3.00 each. Would like to say it's because they were slammed, but that's not the case. I think the server was crazy busy, because she told us several times they they had already cut everyone else. It was not a good experience for us. With expectations of Fine DiNing, as they promote on their website, it fell unsatisfactory short. The high prices were acceptable but not the 100 pound dog with dinner. They sat the dog next to us as they were serving our food. We immediately let the server know that we were unhappy with the dog at our feet and gave her the opportunity to fix it. Only got a sorry from her. Simply moving us or them would have made us happy. The couple with the dog overheard our complaint and instead of moving the dog from underfoot, they just let the dog sleep under our chairs, seemingly as to exacerbate the situation.. So we ate quickly and left, stopping to tell the manager at the hostess stand about our dissatisfaction. She said it was their policy to allow dogs in their dining areas and made no apologies with an attitude. Dinner was ruined and we won't spend anymore money with this restaurant or their sister restaurant, Max's on Lake Rabun. They seem to care more for thei dogs comfort than their paying customers! So much improved since the change in ownership. The food is fantastic and consistent and the staff really cares and provides high touch service. If I want to be critical be careful when ordering because the food comes fast. Even the staff that has transitioned from the previous ownership appreciate the new management. Came here on opening night and it did not disappoint!! Ben went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. I had the filet and puréed pommes, husband had prime rib and Mac n'cheese - everything was so delish! Got the summer salad, which was definite big enough to share - the dressing was so light and yummy. Brian Bullock 300 Marietta Street Suite 304 Atlanta, Ga. 30314 Dear Mr. Bullock, I am writing to you to let you know about a recent incident at one of your restaurants located at Lake Burton Grill on Lake Burton, Ga. I have been eating at this place, this place meaning the old Chop House for 12 years. After the dinner was over, our waitress by the name of Suzanne - code name - "Zoo" informed me as I was putting together our bill payment ($75.00) with legal tender of Federal Reserve dollars, that this establishment does not take cash. I was completely shocked - Shocked!!! Talk about "wokeism". I informed 'Zoo' over the loud noise of a barking dog in an eating establishment, that if she had informed me earlier, I would most likely not have eaten there. She went and got Mr. "Hostess", a guy with dark hair and sideburns with black pants, black shirt. Was he a manager or a Hostess? Not Sure! He never gave me his name. He informed me that they do not take cash because The Lake Burton Grill does not have a "Drop Box". Unfortunately, due to the fact that I felt I was "benchslapped" on the side of the face by 'Zoo', with the dog barking in the background, I became heated with disdain. In all my years of conducting business, 47 years in the Atlanta area, I have NEVER encountered such a backwash disdain for cash. Mr. "Hostess" eventually said he would accept the money from me to pay our bill. Yet, he informed me in a snot nose attitude that this was not proper procedure in paying a Restaurant bill. I had planned on leaving a tip of $30.00 to 'Zoo', with the dog barking in the background, but, still shocked by her "no cash here policy" - I said forget this. Fortunately for 'Zoo', my wife made a strong favor in giving her a tip. She barely thanked us. It is ironic, your restaurant refused at first to take cash, but your server happily did. As I was leaving, I saw Mr. "Hostess" and "Zoo" laughing and snickering over the whole affair. I informed Mr. "Hostess" that Lake Burton Grill needs to inform all customers when they enter into the establishment with a big sign and place it on the top of the menu, in big enough print. In a very unprofessional manner with dripping starkieness, Mr. "Hostess" pulls out a menu and points to the last sentence at the very bottom of the menu at the very end of the sentence the words "we do not accept cash." Whoever reads the very bottom of a menu? In the final analysis, the Chop House, where I enjoyed many wonderful meals, over a 12 year period, paying with Federal Reserve Notes that clearly states in smaller print than your menu the following: "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private," is now in the "Ash Heap of History." I find myself in that same "Ash Heap of History". Your benchslap in the face made it quite clear that I can not and will not be a customer at Lake Burton Grill in the future. We've been going to Laprades for 30 years. Back then it was on the other side of Hwy 197 and up the hill at the old family style restaurant with fried chicken, green beans, biscuits and gravy, coleslaw and all the fixins. You'd Sit out on the rocking chairs on the porch waiting for them to call your name then go in and sit down next to strangers at first but by the end of the incredible meal you were best friends. After it burned down they built the new lodge by the lake.....it struggled on and off to be a good restaurant so finally it's nice to have a place that you really look forward to going to.....We have eaten here four or five times since they opened right after Memorial Day weekend. It's always been fantastic. Our favorite appetizer is the smoked salmon. For entrees we've had the trout which was awesome, the ribeye is incredible, I think it's marinated for three days in pineapple juice and soy sauce, and some other wonderful ingredients, we haven't tried the salmon yet, but it looks really good. The service is fantastic, Ben especially was an awesome waiter and of course the views are pretty cool. It's refreshing to have the new ownership make this a great place again. Fingers crossed they can maintain the great food and service. We're leaving in 20 minutes for dinner there, I think I'll get the ribeye read more
