Great smoothies. However customers are not allowed to use the bathroom! Absolutely ridiculous!

As health-oriented vegans, we felt Rock n Roots is basically perfect. They mostly adhere to whole foods/plant-based principles and even have a selection of oil-free options, a true rarity. We didn't notice the oil-free menu until after we ordered, but we kept it lighter by getting the spicy aioli on the side for the sushi bowl and the banh mi. The sushi bowl was great; so fresh and flavorful; light but still satisfying. We got the banh mi on whole wheat bread and really loved this healthy interpretation of a banh mi. The baked tofu is great. We also enjoyed the bacon cheeseburger with the homemade (oil-free!) patty. Would've been nice if it came with a side of their baked fries. We also loved the pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Soo pumpkin-y! The owners were so helpful and knowledgeable and truly care about making food that's healthy and still tastes great. We didn't have the chance to try the items in the grab and go fridge, but everything looked great, from their legendary sushi to oil-free chickpea salad to an Italian sub (made with seitan from Secret Vegan Kitchen). We will definitely be making the trip back.

I was looking for a Italian shop where I could get a slice. It had been a while since I was in that area and 'think' Delicacies took over that spot. There is ample searting here too and I think more people were taking out food than sitting We were well greeted as we walked in to the "Sushi Section," and walked through the gateway in to the main deli area. The store is long and narrow with plenty of stations of foods. Honestly, there was some good looking food here. I was with my friend who ordered a simple turkey sandwich while I wound up with just a bagel and cream cheese. It was almost sinful looking at all the great food around us. The team here is wonderful and everyone is clearly focused on their customer's experience. Looking forward to going back soon and trying some of their delicious looking food.

I wasn't sure where/what to order as it was kinda not organized very well, so I walked to the register in the back of the store and ordered. There was a bit of a wait and the place is just not set up for standing near the counter waiting for your bagel. The bagel was excellent (as it should be in NY) and I'd probably stop in again if I was staying nearby.

The place is ultra small and easy to miss on Post Ave. Inside, it's not huge but they have a bunch of tables and their lighting is pretty good. So I grabbed one of their menus that they had by the cash register and took a look. I was impressed because their prices seemed very reasonable. Key word being 'seemed'. I decided to order their enchiladas platter with red sauce, which was listed at $14. Unfortunately, when I went to pay for my meal, I was told that the menus were old, and that the real price for the meal was closer to $20. I might've even paid more than that with tax included; don't remember 100%. But that was very disappointing. I told the young lady who was working there that they price was listed at $14 on their own menu; she responded that the correct price was listed somewhere on their board. Though I'm pretty sure it was unintentional, I felt a bit duped. Anyways, I took my food back home to see how it was. I couldn't help but to compare this enchilada platter to the one offered at Little Mexico about a block away cause they offer the same thing. So, first off, Little Mexico gives you a ton of chips and salsa when you order a platter from them. This was not present at Juicebox. The platter at Little Mexico definitely gives you more food overall. Anyways, I dug in, and the platter from Juice Box wasn't bad. The flavor was pretty good and there wasn't anything too offensive about it, but unfortunately it just pales in comparison to the enchiladas at Little Mexico. I couldn't help but to be disappointed that the enchiladas platter at Juicebox was less food, no chips, tasted worse, and was more expensive. The enchiladas platter at Little Mexico comes out to about $17-18 after tax. So those were my thoughts overall. So that was my experience with Juicebox Cafe. I might give it another shot in the future cause it's close to my home, but I don't feel inclined to, especially after the pricing debacle I experienced and the price I paid didn't seem justified.

Furthermore they offer Mexican dishes such as tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, and full platters (steak, chicken, shrimp, etc) including paella. They offer weekday lunch specials and Happy Hour specials such as a burger and fries for $4.99! So far I've like everything that I've tried here. Definitely a good spot to try.

The portion size for herbs is ginormous -- much more for the price than my prior online grocer and even the farmer's market. (In fact, the helpings of chives, dill, sage, and the like, have been so big that I've shared some with my neighbor and still have more than I can use.) Over the months, I've also ordered swordfish, skate, chicken breasts, ground chicken, and ground turkey, and all were good. I also liked the blue cheese and pork sausage, both by itself and as transformed by me into Scotch eggs (really delicious). Some chicken sausage I got seemed less than fresh, but candidly, I'm not sure how long I let them sit before I opened the package, so that could be on me. One week, I got the wrong kind of peas by mistake, but the staff was very helpful in trying to fix the error and I ended up getting a full credit for what I ordered. Bottom line -- I'm a fan. I hope they keep on delivering to my neighborhood.
