Judy's has a great breakfast! I seriously believe that they have the best homefries in all of Bangor. Also, I'm not sure how this is possible, their toast just seems better than most places. This is a great option for a morning meal, but be careful after 5PM, it becomes a whole different beast then. read more

It didn't make me sick so that's a plus, but for this place to have a four star review is nuts. The food was bland and the hash was the only plus. If you couldn't get beer in the morning there I don't think anyone with any sense would go. Trust me go somewhere else. read more

Nothing spectacular. The coffee and English muffins were good and service was fast. The French toast was made with cheap, thin, plain white bread and the bacon was very thin. It is ok for a quick cheap bite to eat, but definitely not a gourmet, unique breakfast. read more

Visited Judy's while staying in Bangor for our son's graduation from the university of Maine. Judy's is a very homey and apparently popular with the locals. We enjoyed a typical breakfast of eggs, toast and home fries along with on omelet for one. Everything was cooked to order and the home fries were excellent. Wow! This place did not disappoint! Don't be fooled by the exterior. The food is fantastic. The service phenomenal. I recommend the English muffin. Add peanut butter which just places on your table w syrup and butter. Definitely try the potatoes. We loved this place! read more

My husband and I stopped for breakfast. His eggs were cooked exactly as he ordered them. My omelette was cooked exactly as an omelette should be, the eggs were cooked on both sides and then the ingredients were folded in. The home fries were golden brown with just a touch of fried onions. The hamburger was hand made from fresh hamburger, not frozen. All this for less than $20.00. What a deal! read more

I was traveling thru Bangor this morning and found this restaurant on Yelp and figured I would give it a shot. It's an old school type restaurant for breakfast or lunch and even has a fully stocked bar. I ordered the number 19 from the lengthy menu and everything on my plate was delicious. On a family trip to Bar Harbor and stopped by in Bangor for breakfast yesterday. I couldn't find too many breakfast places open at 10 AM on a Saturday, which was odd. Stumbled upon Judy's on Yelp and decided to go for it. It was busy and didn't seem like they were heavily staff (I assume because it's the holiday weekend) so there was a slight wait, but we didn't mind. Food was good and price was great. read more

We went to this restaurant this past weekend after reading some great reviews on here. I only give it a three star because we did not get to taste any food so I'm not sure how that was. We ended up leaving due to the Fact that this place is 100% NOT kid friendly! All the reviews I read mentioned nothing about being not kid friendly so we went for it. When we got there our 1 year old needed a diaper change. The bathrooms offer no changing tables and no space to possibly change a diaper in there. After coming back to our table we realized they had no highchairs, and having a one year old that was not going to work so we had to leave. The waitress was very nice and apologetic. She also gave my husband the coffee he had ordered for free. So I'm not trying to write a bad review, just wanting anyone with Littles in the family to know this isn't really a place for them! Ate brunch here with a few friends today. Staff was very friendly and the food tasted great. It wasn't till after I left that my friend told me he found 2 hair's in his meal, and my other friend was given expired sweet and sour sauce side for her chicken tenders. We also noticed that the bar tender frequently went out back to SMOKE CIGARETTES IN THE KITCHEN. Not really the best impression or experience. But I'll give 2 stars because I did enjoy my meal. read more

This is a hidden gem in the Bangor area. It is a dive, but that's also a reason why I love this place. The Eggs Benedict is a must and they also have all different types of breakfast and lunch specials. Priced reasonably, friendly staffs and cozy atmosphere with the locals. read more

Judy's - American Near Me - Bangor, Maine

I have a wonderful friend who lives in Bangor. Just recently I got to visit her, and stopped by a local flower shop to get her some roses. I happened to ask where I could find a good place for breakfast. The owner and another employee kind of laughed and said, "There is a place just up the street called Judy's. It has a lot of local character, and the food is awesome, but it is not for everyone. Or you could head over to Denny's.". Well you can find a Denny's anywhere, but I was very interested in how they were talking about this place. They were right about it not being for everyone. It is a bar, but not much of a bar either. It looks pretty darn plain, dark and rustic. BUT MAN, DO THEY HAVE GREAT FOOD! I had a steak and cheese omelet, home fries, a grilled English muffin and blueberry pancakes. This was THE BEST breakfast I have had in years!!! A grilled English muffin... being from upstate NY and living in MD for the past 11 years, I had never seen that before. Grilled on one side with real butter.... AMAZING! It turns out that is just the way they do it in Maine. Smart people those Mainers! Blueberry pancakes... they were actually BLUE! They mix lots of blueberries right into the batter instead of just sprinkling them into the pancake once plain batter hits the grill. I put butter on them, and didn't even need syrup. YUM! After I ate, I met up with my friend who said nearly the exact same thing the other poster (Annie S.) said, "Judy's has a reputation for being the breakfast spot most likely to get you knifed.". How weird that I came to Yelp and found that same statement? LOL I did get her to go back with me that weekend, and she agreed it was the best breakfast she ever had as well! If you're from out of town- think twice. It took 40 min to serve us an ordinary breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast). And yes, two other tables that came in after we did were served before we were, including one group of three that came 10 min after we did, ordered, ate, paid and left before we got our order. Service was a bit slow but honestly didn't even matter because of how nice the staff was and how good the food was. Got the steak, 2 egg, home fries and English muffin. Plus a grilled blueberry muffin on the side and an OJ. Everything was good but the muffin was excellent! Ok lets be honest I love this place and have been frequenting here for food and drinks for over 10 years with nothing but ton of laughs and fun so this could and has been the only awful experience that I have had here. So while enjoying my 1st not a case of beer my 1st beer of the night I noticed the lady bartender who wasn't Shirley it was a lady with mid back grey hair. She was doing some transaction with two guys aside the bar. I could care less what anyone does until you involve me. The two guys started throwing punches so I just figured id take my camra out and take picture, it was great action shots tbh. Well This "professional" bartender and I use that word very lightly decides to start screaming at me and my friends, probably due to not getting her fix but who knows really. So we all shut our mouths and drank our beers took our tip off the table and walked out. That was that so we thought, until the "Professional" bartender decides to start screaming FAGGOT at me as we walk through the door to leave. Overall I still love this bar and lets be honest I'm probably better in the sack than she is, but I digress. People should just be aware of your surrounds and don't let people who think they are better than you get to you cause every ones the same in this world, which is something she obviously hasn't reached that point in her life which is sad. We left her with her 1 bar guest at 11pm on a Sat. night I hope she made bank that night. and it was 6-3-2017after 10:30pm that we were there. read more

So many people pass this place by because it just looks like a sketchy bar.... But in reality it's home to the best breakfast in town. Remnants of its old reputation are still lingering, including weird smells and dated decorations, but the minute the food hits the table none of that matters. Seriously good cooking, and seriously good service if you happen to be there on a Debbie day. My parents took me here a lot as a kid and I still go for the #3 special every time. Great value and great people. You'll hear a lot of friendly conversations between locals at the bar from wherever you sit. You have to keep in mind that the kitchen is incredibly tiny and they're working on one very small grill to crank out meals for people. On a busy weekend morning you may not receive your food for 30 minutes to an hour because the place will be packed with hangovers, BUT, it can also be totally dead some mornings and you can be served within 20 minutes. There are a couple different cooks, so sometimes an item on your plate may be cooked in a way you don't like, but they're more than happy to fix it for you. read more
