She's conscientious, thorough. and thoughtful. Excellent exam of the entire body. Seen in a timely manner.

If you don't want to add troubles to your life, then choose another doctor. This team has been full of discrimination since the front desk, even towards three-year-old children！This doctor and her team, except for a female nurse, were extremely unreasonable and even discriminatory towards me and my three-year-old child. First, when we arrived at her office, her receptionist was extremely impolite and ignored us. But she didn't treat other Americans like this. Then my three-year-old child wanted to go to the bathroom but couldn't open the door with the key. I wanted to ask her if she had any other keys I could use. Unfortunately, she still ignored me. She even rolled her eyes and then kicked me with wide eyes. Could this be the attitude that a receptionist should have? After that, we went to see the doctor. Surprisingly, the doctor threatened us without knowing anything clearly, saying that she would refuse to treat our child? If this doctor lacks the ability, even the medical ethics and is unable to take care of so many patients, then it's better not to accept so many appointments. We don't pay to be mistreated read more

Appointment was very rushed, less than 5 minutes to perform a full body skin exam. I felt her comments were rude and she did not thoroughly address my questions. read more

One star for the front desk older lady, she's very inpatient & rude to patient. When asking for clarification, she answered with attitude and was very condescending read more

I've been coming to this office for a decade. All the doctors have been great, though the receptionist could be more friendly or efficient.

I wonder if this doctor is partially retired because I had to wait 3 weeks to schedule an appointment. They're only open for 3 days a week. I hope my eczema problem doesn't spread to other areas of my skin. I've been a patient of hers for a number of years now and this is the first time I needed to wait this long. I didn't want to schedule my app't with another doctor in that office because I don't know how the other doctors are not to mention repeating myself of my past health history with my skin of course. read more

Dr Judy is the best dermatologist I've ever attended. She's so detail-oriented, very well-informed, and always familiar with the latest medical development in the field, including the latest research. So actually care about the patients and their well-being. walk-in rates are more than fair. She's in the business of getting people feel better and get better, rather than getting the MDs pockets more padded.. That is a rare breed of medical practitioners. I highly recommend Dr Ng, she's also so kind and nice. I wish all doctors were like her. read more

Overall experience sucks. The front desk messed up my DOB. I had to wait for a whole hour to get my prescriptions. I was seen by Judy Ng and Tuffanelli. Ng was super rushed, and she was talking super fast. Couldn't understand a word that came out from her mouth. Waited for 20 minutes for just 3 minutes of consultation. Tuffanelli was not respectful nor professional, was yawning during session. read more

Dr.NG is the best dermatologist I have ever encountered. At the very beginning of this year I developed a sizeble scab on the lower part of my left eyebrow I've visited the other doctor twice with no even the slightest hope of removing it without a scar-causing surgical operation. However with Dr.NG, miracal occurred, within a fraction of minutes the scab was frozen and a weeK later siimply disappear without even my knowing it. I highIy recomend Dr.NG for any dermatology problems. To me she is a wonder creator. Dr.NG thank you so much for all your help read more

One of the best dermatologists I have ever seen! I have never in my life met a person whom talks as fast as Dr. Ng does. Everyone I met says that I talk fast, but that is only because they haven't met Dr. Ng. She could easily be in the Guinness World Records for how fast she talks. I am very fortunate to be able to understand her, I'm not sure how people whom cannot understand English or Cantonese very well would be able to understand her though.. She conveys 10x more information per minute than any other person I have met. It is ridiculous how much knowledge is flowing through her mind, it seems to me that her mouth cannot keep up with how fast she is thinking. She explains every thing so thoroughly and with very explicit and detailed directions. I love it! It is pretty difficult to see her, ( you will probably have to book an appt over a month in advance ). The wait is well worth, ( unless you have a condition in which you need to have an immediate solution for). She also gave me many great tips that no other dermatologist has told me before. Come prepared ! read more

Dr. Ng has been my dermatologist for several years, through two courses of Accutane, to help me manage lifelong problems with acne. Accutane treatment requires monthly clinic visits, blood draws, and coordination with clinic staff to complete information in a government database so that you can receive your prescription (if you're a person who could become pregnant). During both Accutane trials, Dr. Ng and staff managed all these details without significant error. Dr. Ng has an ideal bedside manner -- She is knowledgeable, direct, empathic, and admits when something isn't known or when your options aren't all that great. I can bring in a list of questions and she will go through them quickly and efficiently. I feel confident that if Accutane isn't effective for my acne, she will keep problem solving with me to find something to at least reduce it. You may need to wait longer for an initial consult with her versus other physicians in the practice, but in my experience it's been worth it. read more

Coming from a family that's plagued with a variety of minor, but irritating skin problems, I decided it was finally worth seeing a dermatologist to get some answers. Going off Yelp reviews, and what my Blue Shield PPO actually considered in-network, I settled on Dr Ng. The verdict? Well, I liked her. The wait, even with an appointment, was unfortunately long, but I've come to expect that over years of visiting doctor offices. And, as many have said, she's a very fast talker, but she answered every single one of my (many) questions clearly, concisely, and most of all, informatively. She even told me a few things about Asian skin conditions and my own that I never even knew (like the fact that the patch on my back I always associated with being scar tissue was, in fact, a birthmark)! read more

If you plan on coming here, GET A SECOND OPINION! I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Ng because I was pretty desperate to be seen asap because I had had enough with my skin issues -- acne, hyperpigmentation, etc. The best derms in the city are booked many weeks out. Dr. Ng was not, so I booked with her. I also thought that because she was a fellow Asian, I could trust her opinion about my skin type. First, yes, she speaks VERY fast. She also assesses you after only looking at you for a good 30-60 seconds. She immediately recommended that I get on Accutane in a matter-of-fact voice. Thankfully, my fiance expressed his concerns and convinced me not to do it because he understood the repercussions of such a painful treatment. (For example, pregnancy issues and long-term skin disorders. Please research this if you're thinking about getting on Accutane.) He also pointed out that dermatologists often earn the most by prescribing expensive treatments like Accutane. Fast forward a few months later, after cleaning up my diet and working with an esthetician who, herself had tried Accutane and did not recommend it, my skin has cleared up and is nearly rid of hyperpigmentation and acne. More recently, my friends have commented that my skin is glowing, and I credit that to a lifestyle change, as well as diet and using non-comedogenic products. (Nothing new here, people!) I also went to another derm (Union Square Dermatology) this past year for a DIFFERENT reason (to check out a cyst) before my skin fully cleared up, and she also did not recommend that I get on Accutane. She disagreed with Dr. Ng's assessment and said that Accutane was for patients with much more severe skin issues (with severe acne scarring, which I have never had). The only thing I'll credit Dr. Ng for is that she correctly pointed out that I had eczema. However, I definitely question her ethics for trying to prescribe something unnecessarily just to make some more $$. It's really a shame that people like Dr. Ng are in practice. As someone who is more on the naive side, had it not been for my fiance, I would have signed up for something that would have cost me thousands and months of stressful treatment that may not have helped and would have caused long-term damage on my body and skin. read more

My daughter had an appointment and we arrived right on time to a packed waiting room. (Not exactly something you want to see in the middle of a pandemic). Waited 30 minutes before my daughter and I were finally put in an exam room to wait for the doctor. Waited another 10 minutes and she never showed up. Waited 40 minutes total and finally had to leave to get back home in time for a work meeting. Zero consideration for my time, my daughter's time, for anyone's time, yet this place was going to charge me if I was late or canceled the appointment in under 24 hours? Not so much as an email or phone call from the doctor's office apologizing for the inconvenience. Won't be going back here again. read more

Do not visit for skin of color. Went to her for hyperpigmentation issues (which I already know exist). She was in a rush and did not give me time to discuss any treatment options. She gave very generic advice that use moisturizer and sunscreen. When I insisted to have some action plan to reduce my current hyperpigmentation, she simply handed me 10-15 trial packs of different sunscreens she had at her disposal. She gave no other recommendation. Currently my condition has deteriorated. read more

This review is way overdue. I took my daughter, who was then a toddler to see Dr. Ng through a referral. I explained that my daughter have a small, red bump on her left hand for quite some time. Dr. Ng took a quick look, said everything is ok, prescribed some ointment and we were told to come back in two weeks. Fast forward two weeks, we returned for a follow up and was told the same thing without offering any other solution. Her bedside manner was very dismissive and both times we felt very rushed. So enough is enough by this point and I decided we will never go back. I found another dermatologist, Lesley Bowler, who happens to be in the same building. Lesley is fantastic! She prescribed an ointment and told us to follow up in two weeks. We did and the bump was still there so it had to removed for biopsy. Long story short, all turned out well thanks to Lesley's attentiveness!! I strongly advised against seeing Dr. Ng. I personally feel it's unethical for a doctor to be so careless and unprofessional. read more

Where do I even begin with this place, I just left my appointment 15 minutes ago and couldn't wait to write something. This may sound dramatic but I promise this was the most bizarre Doctor's appointment of my life. "Classic Derm SF" is located in an old building at 450 Sutter, on the 13th floor, very appropriate as you will read. I was there to see Dr. Richard Burroughs, one of Judy's colleagues in that practice. I present to you Yelp my new drama titled: "The last room on the left" SCENE The setting: An old, dusty, cramped corner suite of offices with paper thin walls, on the 13th floor. Cue MUSIC! DUNNN DUNNN DUNNNnnnnnnn The players: There was an elderly Doctor, maybe 80 years old there in a long white lab coat. He walked around the halls slowly and deliberately, dragging his feet every step "shuffle, shuffle, ..... shuffle". Is that Dr. Boroughs I thought!? *quick google image search*, nope, not him. Off in the distance I hear a sort of wailing sound, like someone is being slowly and effectively murdered. One of the nurses shouts "she's screaming, she's screaming! find her". Find her? Who is she? Where is she? Shuffle, shuffle.....shuffle. Another nurse shouts "commotion, commotion, her knee!" and several people disappear down the hall. SHUFFLE....shuffle.... creek.... shuffle. From the opposite side another drama unfolds, "good, YES, GET IN, GET IN THERE, that's right, no, no!!! don't do that, don't do it, just get in, put it in". Still no sign of Burrough's. "Sabrina? Please follow me" startled I comply, and follow another nurse to the last room on the left, the scene of the crime. Cue music again DUNNN DA-DUNNNN I hear a faint knock on the door and Dr. Burrough's enters, shutting the door behind him. He looked me directly in the eye and said............ nothing. Absolutely nothing. So I said, hi, "I'm Sabrina" "Why are you here." "This" I extend my foot, revealing a small plantar wart. I've never had a wart before, lucky me. In silence he puts on latex gloves, and before I know it, before I have a chance to ask "so, is this a wart?" or "what do you think?" or "how bout them Giants" he whips out a razor blade with the stealth of a 5th generation samurai. He begins cutting into my foot, this is when I see the first slow smile cross his lips. "You see all this blood? See it? Warts are hoarders of blood. Look at all this blood". Cut, cut, scrape. What, the actual, f*ck. is. happening. THEN he says "I'm going to shoot it now". This is not a joke, "I'm going to shoot it now", was what he said. I said "Will this hurt?" and he paused, and looked at me, his eyes shining "Yes, yes very much". OK Christian Gray!!! "Four weeks" were the last words I heard, before his brisk departure. The appointment took a total of 4 minutes, on the dot. And, SCENE. read more

Dr. Judy Ng pretty much made my entire year. A feeling you get when 2 million pounds had just been lifted off your shoulders. I couldn't express in words how thankful I am for her. Long story short, from early summer I had been misdiagnosed with a particular situation. From bad advice, stress, a horrible general doctor diagnosis, to basically feeling hopeless and lost, I felt no one could help. After "forcing" the doctor to refer me to a dermatologist, I stumbled upon Dr. Judy Ng. Please take note, that if you are a new patient it takes at least a month in advance to get an appointment! But that month is well worth the wait. The minute I walked in, although she talked faster than normal, I didn't feel rushed but felt VERY informed about my situation. She simply said, "Okay, I'll treat you right now and you'll be on your way. Just set up an appointment to follow up!" Dr. Ng was very nice, understanding, and I felt very comfortable being around her. She wasted no time, and got straight to the point. I couldn't believe she gave me more information in 3 minutes than the useless doctors I had experienced in the last 3 months! Aside from Dr. Ng being nice, the office staff was very friendly as well. This small sized office was very clean and seemed well equipped! Thank you SO much Dr. Ng...I can now return to having a normal life, worry free! read more

Judy Ng caught my skin cancer after two other doctors told me "not to worry about it." Although it wasn't the deadly kind (thankfully), left untreated it could have rendered my arm utterly useless. So - five stars for that. In terms of her bedside manner - she was fantastic. But - fair warning - I'm not someone who likes a doctor who will hold my hand or talk to me about feelings. I like a doctor who answers my questions and doesn't get annoyed if I ask about every little thing I found on the Internet before I got there. She was very patient, very knowledgeable, and super helpful. Also, as a side note... my mom flipped out after hearing my diagnosis, and without consulting me and without my permission, called Dr. Ng and tried to get info about my condition and treatment. Just as she should have, Dr. Ng not only didn't tell my mother anything (respecting my privacy rights and law), she also called me to let me know what my mother had done - and she was exceptionally gracious when I made my mother call to apologize for putting everyone in that position. I used to write privacy law for a living, so super BIG ups to Dr. Ng for handling that situation so professionally. read more

Thanks to a friend/fellow Yelper, I made an appointment to see Judy Ng this week. As we get older, more wrinkles and fine lines camp out on our faces. Though I've loved my 30's thus far, this isn't my favorite part of the deal. Judy renewed a few prescriptions and offered advice for non-Botox solutions for making my skin look fresh. She takes a straightforward medical approach, explaining why certain solutions work better than others. But she's also realistic and will tell you what's available over the counter that *might* also do the trick. Reasonable gal for sure. Our time together at the office was brief, but that just means that my skin issues are minor and don't require a ton of poking and prodding. Knock on wood that the trend continues. read more

She helped me fix something small that has been bugging me for the longest time. -1 star because she's waaaaaaaaaaay to rushed. Although she knows what she's doing, she should slow down. Her fast pace working habits makes the patient feel like she wants out fast. read more

Make no mistake, Dr. Judy Ng is a medical, not a cosmetic dermatologist. She's happy to advise you about botox or restylane, but if you want cosmetic injections go somewhere else. What Dr. Ng is all about is excellent medical knowledge and advice. If you have a skin problem, she's the one to go to. I found her very informative and unrushed while being pleasant and relaxed. The one star off is because the office does seem a bit old and outdated. But again, Dr. Ng isn't about appearances as much as functionality and it is perfectly functional. read more

The part of my experience where I interacted with Dr. Ng was really quite good. She is professional and quick to the point, but didn't make me feel hurried or brushed aside. She is a perfectly capable dermatologist. The one star off is for her office and office staff.... The people who work behind the desk were really quite rude. They barely look you in the face, cut you off when you speak, and then on to the next person. When I called to make my initial appointment I probably spoke to the receptionist for 15 seconds. She just wanted to know my name and when I wanted to come. She didn't ask even vaguely what the reason was, or extend any courtesies. Same stuff when I was there in person. It felt very much like a cattle-call and that they were too busy...to do their job. When I got there it just didn't feel very well-kept in terms of updating decor or anything. It's not that that's very important for a medical diagnosis, but I actually felt quite uncomfortable in the waiting room. (The medical building is actually architecturally interesting-- very old and classic feeling. All of the office doors look like 1940s "Private-eye detective" agencies). The exam room was incredibly cramped-- the door couldn't even open the whole way because it hit the examining table. Don't get me wrong, I think old buildings have many great aesthetic qualities, but it just doesn't scream 'hygienic' or 'sterile' for a doctor's office. It was just very outdated. Important to note: They only take cash or checks. Weird, right? read more

Sometimes Dr. Ng's words stumble over each other because she is talking so fast. I always get the impression that she is thinking way faster than she could ever get the words out. If you come in with 10 questions she'll answer them in two minutes flat. I rarely had to wait long for her and was often in and out in 15 minutes. You may feel like she is rushing you a bit, but she will also answer all your questions. It can often be a little hard to get in to see her, but it's completely worth it. read more

Abysmal service from this office. The front desk staff is confused and unprofessional--I just double-checked my appointment for today (which I made two weeks ago in the office) prior to leaving work. Had a visit with Dr. Ng today. All the other positive reviews are spot-on - she's to-the-point but that's a good thing in my opinion. No beating around the bush. She immediately knew what the issue was upon looking at my skin and I was out of the office (and disabused of the notion that my skin issue was anything to worry about) in under 10 minutes. She also did a quick check of all my other moles and skin to make sure there wasn't anything else that needed attention. I'm hoping not to have to see her again, but if anything else comes up, I'd go to Dr. Ng before anyone else! read more

After moving to the SF area from out-of-state, needed a new dermatolgist for my annual skin cancer screening. From Yelp reviews, Dr. Ng's practice looked like a great option. Scheduled an appointment two weeks out due to her busy schedule. I always bring a list of questions to whatever doctor appointment I go to because I never remember everything to ask if I don't. Dr. Ng gave me intelligent, clear and complete answers each of my questions and in doing so demonstrated her extensive knowledge and competence in the field of dermatology. After my appointment, I thought of a follow-up question for the doctor. I called her office and left a message with the front desk on a late Friday afternoon and was told the doctor would be in on Monday and I could expect an answer then. Now it's Monday evening, almost 7pm and my phone just rang. It was Dr. Ng calling to answer my follow-up question. I was stunned. I have played phone tag with doctor's offices in the past on numerous occasions, and if someone does get back to me within a day or two or three, it's always been the nurse. NEVER HAS IT BEEN THE ACTUAL DOCTOR! 5 stars. Thank you Yelp for existing to help me find my new dermatolgist. In one appointment and phone call she has already set the bar for service to her patients higher than other doctor I've been a patient of. read more

I waited for 30minutes for the appointment and my meeting with Dr. Ng was only 6 minutes. But what a great use of 6 minutes. She diagnosed not one, but two issues I was having with my skin, one of which had been affecting me for 8 years and went through the same diagnoses with 3 different doctors. Dr. Ng was the first to give me a different diagnosis and she was right! The treatment worked and I honestly just can't believe how she diagnosed it so fast and accurately! Yes, you do feel rushed by how fast she's talking. And yes, you do have to wait for a while. But definitely worth it. read more

I have seen the entire office. I have a rare skin condition that anonmolusly presented as an adult. The office handled it spectacularly. This review reflects the poor service of the front office staff: I was actually referred to Dr. Ng's office by my primary care provider, so I thought I'd be able to trust their recommendation. Wrong! When I called, I was immediately placed on hold for five minutes and forced to listen to the cheesiest jazz muzak. I didn't want to take it personally, so I decided to hang up and call back in 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I got the same response and waited another five minutes until someone finally picked up. I asked if Dr. Ng was taking new patients, and if so, would it be possible to make a Saturday appointment. The female receptionist unprofessionally communicated that "Dr. Ng is not available on the weekends." Knowing that this is a group practice, I then asked if I could make an appointment with one of the other doctors. She thens scolded me with an attitude saying, "we don't open on weekends!" Well, guess what: YOUR YELP SAYS THAT YOU'RE OPEN ON SATURDAYS, FROM 9AM - 2PM, SO WHAT'S WITH THE ATTITUDE?!? After reading these other posts, I can see what people are talking about. I'd like to think that I'm fair and patient when it comes to these type of people; hell... I work as a clinical operations manager that focuses on quality customer/patient service! But this isn't quality... it's terrible business and it says something about the practitioners who hired them. read more

Dr. Ng is dismissive and ineffective. I went to Dr. Ng in hopes that she could offer some new perspective and treatment on a long-standing skin issue. She was plainly dismissive, and just generally didn't care. This is fine if you're, like, a plumber. But I find it unacceptable for medical professionals. Rather than trying to help explore new solutions, she just asked me what I used before and recommended some stuff I'd already tried. Pretty disappointing experience. Would absolutely not recommend. read more

Totally agree with the negative reviews. Dr Ng talks too fast, is rushed, is dismissive of questions and has zero bedside manner. I found her to be short with me, and rude. She definitely didn't say goodbye. I felt like I went to a drive through. I believe she told me, "you're red, you're always going to be red, it's going to get worse, and there's nothing you can do about it." Thanks Her office staff was also terrible. While filling out paperwork I was super distracted by the woman scheduling via phone. I could not believe how loud and disrespectful she was being in an open office. When I was leaving no one showed me how to get out of the office, or said goodbye to me. read more

Other reviewers have already mentioned Dr. Ng's speedy talking, but I guess it depends on you if it bothers you or not. I may have missed some things she said because my brain can't process input that fast, but I asked her to write down everything I needed to get/do. So I left with all the information I needed on paper (yes, it's legible). She seems very competent and explained everything in detail, answering all of my questions. After one look at my skin while I was showing her one of three problems I was in for, she said that all my problems are related (sensitive skin). She advised against a procedure I thought I needed (and probably would have made her practice more money) because it wasn't going to solve my problem. Her honesty might be offensive to some people, but I find it pretty funny (I don't think she does it on purpose). I laughed out loud a few times during my appointment. I'll definitely go back to a doctor who treats my problems AND puts me at ease! Me: "But it wasn't this bad before." Dr. Ng: "You're getting older. Things get worse with age." Me: "Is this going to hurt?" (referring to a shot) Dr. Ng: "Yes." Me: "So it's all because I have sensitive skin." Dr. Ng: "Yes, it's genetic. You can blame your parents." read more

This is my first time visiting Dr. Ng's office. I checked in with the receptionist, turned in my insurance card for copying, and then filled out two forms. While I was in the midst of filling it out, I got called to the patient room so I finished filling them out there. My first impression of Dr. Ng was that she listened to my issue and explained to me the condition I have. Dr. Ng was very professional and efficient. She wrote me a prescription for my issue. I am thankful that my medical issue was diagnosed and the entire visit was very positive. I would recommend her to my family and friends. read more

I am beginning to grasp how to communicate with Dr. Ng even for a frivolous visit to rid myself of adult acne. It has taken me 4 visits over the past few years to understand how to get all my needs addressed with her fast-talking, straight to the point, and no gray shades of thoughts. Over the years, Dr. Ng has begun to communicate with more feelings, and you can just see it in her eyes now. It takes a while, but Dr. Ng is a very smart dermatologist and gets her thoughts across nicely. Just make sure you get your needs addressed too, but you have to be strategic and on your toes. Seriously, talking to her, there is not such thing as a wasted second of silence. Well the only silence occurs when she walks out briefly to grab you a generous bundle of prescription samples. read more

I found Dr. Ng via Yelp, but she was also referred to a friend by her trusted primary doctor (who happens to be mine as well). The visit went very well although I did feel like I waited a while in the exam room in my gown. Dr. Ng is straight to business, but in a good way. She has a no-nonsense, straight-forward approach but not in a cold way. She tells it like is is & doesn't recommend unnecessary procedures, but is attentive & listens to your concerns & then addresses them. I happened to have a rash that I didn't even realize I had & she was quick to diagnose it & recommend an over-the-counter remedy. I would go to see her again & would recommend her highly. Bring cash if you have a co-pay because the office doesn't accept payment by credit card for some reason. read more

Thank you, Yelpers, for turning me on to Dr. Judy. I needed a new dermatologist for my annual skin cancer check. The world would be a better place if Dr. Judy and her front office staff ran it. The receptionist was quick and efficient despite a non-stop ringing phone. Before I could pick out a magazine, I was called back to the exam room. Dr. Judy breezed in after a 5-minute wait, asked why I made the appointment and started to efficiently exam my fair-skinned body. It's always creepy getting the once over but Dr. Judy kept talking and talking while she examined me which put me at ease. I agree with Keith J. that she moves fast and talks quickly - just like me - so I loved her demeanor. She was citing recent studies and obviously knew her sh*t. The office is just like in the photo so don't expect glamour and glitz, just good service. read more
