TL;DR version: You will be happy you went to Dr. Campbell.
My skin, my confidence, and my life have all been transformed thanks to Dr. Campbell.
I have struggled for MOST of my life with chronic acne, even through my 20s. Nothing worked-- I tried over the counter topicals, changed my diet, even spent *hundreds* of dollars on luxury skin products. My skin would not stay clear no matter what I did.
I sat down for my first appointment with Dr. Campbell and she very quickly knew what I would need to get the results I wanted. To be honest, I generally tend to go into medical appointments with a little hesitation and skepticism-- I'm always a little on alert to make sure my doctors/specialists are truly hearing me out when I describe my issues, and not just slapping me with a one-size-fits-all type solution. Dr. Campbell was nothing of the sort. She took plenty of time to get a sense of the larger picture around my skin regime/products, lifestyle/diet, and made sure she understood exactly the pains I was experiencing with my skin. She wrote up her suggested treatment course for my case and very patiently and clearly answered all my questions about every aspect of my treatment.
I tend to ask a lot of questions in medical situations-- I like to understand HOW treatments are supposed to work and WHY the doctor would choose one treatment over another. Dr. Campbell is EXTREMELY knowledgable about dermatology and has a knack for very clearly explaining the process through and through. I was especially impressed at how many times she would mention a very recent medical study she'd read up on that was in connection to the therapies she was prescribing. In other words she is always staying on top of what is current in the field of dermatology, doing her homework, and making sure she can offer the best-in-class treatment for her patients.
I put my trust in her, and I am so happy I did.
In my case, I saw results really quickly. Even after just about 4 months I saw amazing results. (The before and after images I've attached are from about 4-5 months I believe). Throughout the process, Dr. Campbell was very available anytime I had questions or needed something on the fly (in my case, a few cortisone shots when I had sudden acne flairs).
Now a little over a year later, I sometimes forget what its like to have acne at all. Anyone suffering from acne will know what I mean at how amazing this is. I would constantly feel low about my looks when my face was covered in acne, and now my skin has never been clearer. (go look at my prof pic haha!)
All in all, I am so incredibly grateful to have a dermatologist like Dr. Campbell, who stays on top of whats current, is always patient and sincere, and is determined to providing the best care possible.
Other things that I love about Dr. Campbell's practice:
--The Office.
Dr. Campbell has put so much attention to detail in the entire experience of her practice. From the moment you walk into the office, you feel like you've walked into something out of Architecture Digest. I'm used to going to doctors appointments and finding myself in uncomfortable stuffy waiting rooms that literally fill my soul with dread. Dr. Campbells office however is beautifully and intentionally designed, which always makes me feel immediately more at ease.
--Products
In my case of treatment personally, Dr. Campbell recommended I use her Benzoyl Peroxide Wash from her own brand of skin care products. While I'm usually really skeptical about products like these, or about doctors who might feel pushy about their products-- I got the opposite here. Dr. Campbell provided alternative options for each part of my treatment I could use, but in a few different conversations she also demonstrated to me just how intentional she was at developing each of the products in her own line. I remember her telling me that for the benzoyl peroxide wash, there was some ingredients in a lot of the typical over the counter products that she says are less than ideal for our skin-- so she worked on creating the ideal product she wanted to see. It has been working phenomenally.
BUT AT THE SAME TIME-- Dr. Campbell was also real about telling me when a simple over the counter solution would work. She told me I should give up on certain luxury skin brands I was using at the time and instead to swap for Cerave or Cetaphil for certain things. I love that i never felt pushed to buy more expensive products when not needed-- its the transparency and authenticity that does it for me.
Dr. Campbell does also have other products from brands like Skincueticals and Elta MD that she recommends--again, with good reason. I always would hear explanations like "This brand's product has the highest concentration of niacinamide that you can get over the counter." But again, never in a way that felt pushy.
