I love stopping by for their chai nevado, basically a chai frappe, they offer it in two sizes, regular and x large but honestly the regular size it big as it is. It is always good, the staff is usually pretty friendly and welcoming and sometimes there's no line but when there are they're usually pretty fast. They also have really good pan de bono and empanadas. They offer other snacks and food for in the go both hot and cold such as sandwiches, salads, wrap, cachitos, fruit cups and yogurt. Much better choice than Starbucks for coffee for sure! read more

Great airport option! Located in Terminal D! After going through that crazy long security checkpoint, I was ready for some coffee and a pastry before I boarded my return flight home! They have a great selection here. I was in and out. No long lines here like Starbucks! The employee I interacted with was very friendly! The coffee was tasty. Not much of a choice when you are about to board an airplane and you decide you want to get a cup of coffee to drink on the airplane other than the coffee they offer you on the airplane. Not the best tasting coffee I've had at an airport but not the worst either. I was a hoping and a praying when I placed my order that the airplane wouldn't leave me as they were boarding. I made it in time, but I often wonder why they don't hire more staff knowing that there are 1,000's of people moving through the airport each, and every day. How many customers have they lost because people just don't want to wait in line, because the cashier is moving at a snails pace? read more

Decent experience with fast service. The service: fast and polite. There's really not much room for error seeing as its a quick order and go type of deal. The ladies in the front were fast and polite when taking my order. I saw they had their masks on. And were following the corona protocol. I didn't wait to long for them to take my order and they were accurate when putting it in. I ordered an iced mocha with almond milk and an empanada de Carne (beef empanada). The iced mocha was exactly as I thought it would be. Im glad they had the almond milk option as i have a dairy intolerance. The empanadas was alright. It wasn't the best but far from the worse. It tasted fresh and was warm. I saw they had other pastries and sandwiches to grab on the go. They are pre-made and refrigerated. The empanadas were baked and not fried which is my preference. Great for on the go service. I would stop by here again if I'm in a rush and just want a quick coffee but don't expect to have a sit down. There are no benches or tables. Terminal D at MIA has no shortage of food options. Juan Valdez is a go-to for me when I'm in need of a quick coffee and perhaps a small bite to eat. I've traveled a lot to Colombia and if you aren't familiar with Juan Valdez, think of it as their version of Starbucks but with way better coffee. It's conveniently located right outside of Checkpoint 2 which is in the center of the terminal. Regardless of which way you have to go from there, it's an easy stop before your gate. My go to drink is a macchiato with arequipe. If you've never had arequipe before then a) I feel bad for you and b) urge you to fix that ASAP. Think about it as a Colombian dulce de leche. I'm really not one for overly sweet coffee, but there's something about this combo I can't resist. It's one of my favorite airport treats! To snack, they offer Colombian baked goods like pan de bono, empanadas, tequeños, and more. They also have a refrigerator with lots of other options including cold drinks, yogurt, fruit, sandwiches, etc. You can even grab some Colombian coffee beans to bring as a gift to visitors or for yourself, of course. The staff is always pretty friendly. It can be a little slow at times but the line will move just as fast as other spots like Versailles. read more

I actually liked Juan Valdez @ MIA. Granted, they have some kinks to work out - such as the ordering process. The ordering mechanism doesn't seem to be very well thought out - the display case with the goodies being one side of the counter and the cashier being in the other side. It kind of makes it difficult to know what they have that could be ordered. Nevertheless, coffee was good - not amazing. On par with Starbucks, if you asked me. So I got my caffeine fix. For some reason, I have the feeling that if they had a real Juan Valdez coffeeshop in Miami, the coffee would be better there than in the airport. Hot pastries - they had tequeños (the cheese sticks) and frankly they were delicious and full of cheese - I'd order these again and by the dozen if I could! They also had the cachitos (ham & cheese) and I thought they were good too. Maybe not the best. I thought it was nice that they'd could give you cold ones too so that you could have it baked at home. With Juan Valdez being the only place to sell cachitos and tequeños in MIA, this should be a good selling point for Venezuelan expats especially for those just making the connection in Miami. Got a cup of coffee here while waiting for a connecting flight and it was darn good. Not the best cup I've ever had but it did the drink and I was wired as heck after drinking it. They don't have speciality milks like almond or soy but they had half and half whole milk and skim milk out. They have some food, fruit, wraps, sandwiches, nothing too gourmet or healthy per say but some stuff. They had gluten free pretzel snacks, which I was super surprised to see. The staff was nice enough, they only have sizes small and large and I thought the small was big. Worth a stop if you need a decent cup before getting on a flight. read more

I ordered an egg and cheese croissant and quite frankly am so disgusted that I ate it.. the grease from the bottom went through the wrapper, and the paper bag, and a few napkins.. Not that I was expecting an amazing breakfast sandwich, but that was disgusting.. It was like they sat it in a pile of grease from something else after they made it... it was still tasteless and yet I'm left with a layer of grease in my mouth and on my hands. This is an empanadas review. I was stuck in the airport for many, many hours due to a storm, and was looking for some food. Empanadas here seemed like a decent choice, so I went for a couple. I got the pork, and the spinach and cheese. The fillings are quite nice and they didn't skimp on it, so there is quite a bit inside the hearty dough. It tasted decent, but a little fast food-y, which isn't at all surprising since I'm in an airport after all. If you want something between Cuban coffee and Starbucks this coffee is for you. I personally had the cafe latte which was rich and bold yet smooth. Thus far the best latte I've had at MIA, and I am here practically every day! The apple pastry was awesome. Ask them to warm it up for you. The dough is nice and moist while flavorful. There was just enough slices of Apple to make it yummy without being over bearing. The muffin, well... Not as awesome. Grab yourself a latte and an apple pastry and head to your gate! read more

I don't usually take the time to write a review when I'm on a rush to catch a flight but the women working in this cafeteria are so awfully rude I felt compelled to. First and foremost, the rudest worker was the cashier with the long black hair, whose name is much too long to remember. I asked for a "white chocolate mocha" and she mentioned they didn't have so I said okay and ordered something different, however, she still felt it was necessary to roll her eyes to me. Then, I was asking for a double shot and she kept on rolling her eyes. However, I was wondering why she wasn't adding the extra shot so I asked her and in the most impolite attitude/sarcastic way she told me that they already come with 2 shots. So I asked for 3 the whole point was that I wanted an extra shot. She then tried to explain to the woman who was making the coffee that I wanted three shots and the poor lady didn't hear so she asked again but her and the other worker felt it was necessary to roll their eyes and whisper something rude about her in Spanish. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because the poor lady making the coffee was extremely kind. I've never felt so disrespected in my life by people trying to offer a service. This place really needs to invest on hiring kinder more welcoming workers. Ps, I wasn't the only one who felt offended by these people, the person in front of me in line asked for a decaf coffee and initially they told him they had, then they said they didn't and started rolling their eyes and giving attitude. Once the man left, he left behind some change and she sarcastically said "ugh thanks for the tip." As if the tip was an insult to her because it was change. I always get the their frozen coffee / frappucino-equivalent every time I'm flying in or out MIA. Employees will outnumber waiting customers and always takes frustratingly forever - typical for Miami. This review is for the NEW Downtown location , NOT the airport. Never go to the Downtown area but took a field trip just to have some authentic Colombian coffee. Well worth the time. I tried an empanada and it was inedible, still frozen inside and the corn dough was so dry it broke in two inside the bag before eating...Yuck. I also ordered Pan de Bono and was hard, cold, hardly any cheese and dry. It was among the worse ever in any Colombian establishment in Miami. After one bite just tossed the food in the trash.
